It's like swahbuckler and shakespeare meet. XD
Reasoning, "the banner be cute": the 'be' sounds like a pirate thing to say. "...reasoning assunder": sound like Shakespeare's Henry V Act I prologue, "the perilous narrow ocean parts assunder". Assunder is an archaiac word meaning roughly moved. So, not polite, but violent. Henry V is a war story between England in France at Agincourt, and the ocean in question is the English Channel, which parts England and France.
