"Sweet," Ky said, looking to Sting. "All right buddy, let's get out there!" As Sting buzzed over, Ky placed Little Guy on his shoulder to free up his hands. Sting was still punching the air, trying to give Ulani an intimidating look. Guessing Ulani's personality, Ky rolled his eyes, knowing it probably wouldn't work. "Hehe, I guess you could call this battle a Bugsy test. Sting's pretty hyper, so I'd make sure that Ulani's ready if I were you," Ky said with a competitive smile. "I'm ready when you're ready." He then bowed. "Ladies first," Ky offered.

Xanthos too submerged, following the Vaporeon untrustingly. His mouth let loose a stream of bubbles that trailed behind him as he swam, serving as a warning to Ariel if the cheeky Pokemon decided to mess around.
Mike winced as Kassie's leg connected with the paneling. "Watch where you're stepping Kassie!" The poor girl got beaten around more than her little body should have been able to take. "You make me worry sometimes girl." Speaking so softly to his friend made him remember Flannery. Remind myself to send her a message soon, I miss her...

Tingle's metallic arm crashed into Scyther with a deafening crunch sound, the Bug Pokemon's carapace cracking under the pressure.
Yup, I don't stand a Snorunt's chance in hell of winning this one. Bugsy sighed, once again the sting of being a lower level Gym Leader made its way into his ego. If only he wasn't so young, he'd be up there with Morty, using his own powerful Pokemon. If only I could use my Heracross... He sighed, shrugging it off once more. "Scyther, Pursuit attack!"
A visible stagger it its step, the Mantis Pokemon lunged forward, bringing the back end of its blade like appendages onto the Metang, it bent the light around it, a dark aura wavering from it.

"Fa"? Why would my Prince Charming say "Fa"? thought the groggy Akane. She opened her eyes and saw Twinkers right in her face looking flustered and obviously trying to wake her. Startled, Akane scuttled backwards a few feet and took in the scene before her.
Twinkers was still shouting "Cle! Cle! Fa! Fa!"and pointing to the mess that surrounded them. the contents of her bag were strewn about, the brown feathered tail of some kind of bird protruding from within the satchel.

Although initially frightened Akanes emotions quickly changed to that of anger. "Hey! Thats my stuff!" she shouted at the interloper. "Twinkers! Go and hit that annoying bird."
The small star pokemon visibly steeled itself and marched over to the wriggling mass of bag and feathers. She pulled back a small fist and let swing. She connected with considerable force sending the bag/bird combination rolling away culminating in a dazed looking Pidgey falling out of the bag.

Keegan studied the Manectric for a moment. Why does it look so familiar...? he thought, scratching his chin. He shoved it from his mind, and looked to Helios. "Keep up the good work, Pal," he called encouragingly. "Let 'em have another Heat Wave!"
The little Vulpix gave his six tails a shake, once again expelling a cloud of scorching vapors over the battlefield; the blackened piece of charcoal hanging around his neck glowing with a reddish light with each fire-based attack he delivered.

Whitney backed away from Nina, a horrified look on her face. "Oh... no! It really was you that tried to like, kill Giovanni, wasn't it?!" Nina chuckled a little bit. "Yeahhh, it was. And you know what? I really should have killed him when I had the chance..." Unlike the previous time that Nina turned evil, her hair remained the light blue color that it originally was; she looked no different than she did from day-to-day.
Maorde smiled. "It's okay, Nina. With time, my dear." The man walked and talked with the psychic. "I do believe, however," he continued, "that we should start out small and work our way up to Giovanni. For starters... we will begin infiltrating the bases and learning everything about this man that we possibly can. There's so many places that they have dedicated for their research, that it seems like the buildings are simply waiting for us to enter them..."
"Yes," Nina replied. "However, there is one location that I know is of no use to the Rockets anymore-- that's on Five Island. Quite some time ago, I went there and destroyed it, with the help of my friends." The girl paused after the words 'my friends' left her lips. She shook her head a little bit.
"Speaking of which... maybe I should do my friends a favor and eliminate them. They don't care about my well-being, nor have they ever. They don't care about anything I have to say or what I'm doing-- Mike's too busy traveling with Kaaa-siii-yaaa and flirting with any full-bodied woman that passes his way to care about anything else that's going on in the world around him." She chuckled. "And to think he believes Flannery is his girlfriend..." Nina rolled her eyes. "But I can't focus just on those two! There's also that dumb idiot that I used to call my boyfriend! He's too busy fraternizing with the man that brainwashed and nearly killed him than he is doing anything else... Although, he does seem to get extreme pleasure in defeating me in my own Gym."
Maorde sneered. "Oh really?" he asked. "I'm sure that if he beat you in your own setting, with your rules and your conditions, he must not see you as worthy of being with him." Maorde was fueling Nina solely on lies, filling her head and corrupting her, but the girl was already too far gone to notice.

Whitney wasn't, however. "Stop saying all of those things to her!" she yelled, at a distance of about twenty feet from behind them. "Nina, don't keep listening to him! Nothing he's telling you is true, don't you know that? He just wants to like, use you to accomplish his own goals!"
Nina stopped walking, and pivoted around on her heels. She started walking towards Whitney, a dark look spread on her face. She stopped a foot or two in front of the girl. "Whitney... for once in your pathetic, damned life, shut up. My own father wouldn't lie to me! It's you who's the liar-- you're just jealous because your stupid mother got with a man she never saw again, and you were the failed result of that encounter. You've never met your real father! You've only had that Bobert guy as your stepfather because he was stupid enough to marry your dirty mother and stay with her!"
That was it. Whitney pulled her arm back, and socked Nina in the jaw, hard. She watched blood trickle out of the other girl's mouth. "You're forgetting," she said, cracking her knuckles, "that's your mother, too." Nina wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, and grinned darkly. A deep blue outline formed around Whitney's body, causing her to be lifted up into the air. She put her hands to her throat-- she was suffocating.
"And you're forgetting," Nina said, "that I'm a psychic. I can kill you in an instant if I wanted to... and, I think I want to." The girl tightened her grip on Whitney; she struggled to breathe but it was completely useless. Her body fell limp as she went unconscious, and the psychic hold was released, causing her body to drop to the ground. And, there she lie.
Nina smiled. "Well, that's one down. Time to find the others." She turned around and walked toward Maorde, who pulled out a Pokeball that released a large blue dragon with red wings. He climbed onto its back, helping Nina on as well. They were lifted into the sky a moment later, and took off.
Almost a full minute after they had departed, Whitney's eyes slowly opened a little. She coughed.

Ariel glanced behind her, spotting the dark Pokemon's untrusting gaze. Her ears twitched a little in annoyance; she didn't like the way he was looking at her. She closed her eyes, her body shimmering for a moment or two before she vanished from sight, having melded invisibly with the water with her Acid Armor ability. Feeling somewhat better now that she were hidden, she swam swiftly to the other side of the bridge, deciding to let Xanthos have the first side all to himself.
"I'm fine, Mike," Kasiya said, waving her hand. "You know me well enough by now to know that I fall down a lot. Don't let it worry you." Her side let out a twinge of pain, but she ignored it to the best of her ability. I guess that would be my body telling me that I should slow down a bit, she sighed, realizing that she had been pushing herself awfully hard since the incident in Lavaridge.

"Again, you make it much hotter than it need to be!" Wattson sighed, fanning himself. However, he didn't need to make an order for Manectric to dodge the on coming heat wave. The Pokemon jumped into the air and performed quite a feat of acrobatics over the wave, landing softly on the ground on all four paws, crackling with electricity.
"A'right now!" Wattson smiled, "Show him your T'underbolt!" The yellow and blue dog lowered his head and howeled slightly, then shot a stream of lightning towards his foe.

Whitney's vision was spinning horribly, and it took her some time to get to her feet without toppling over. She coughed for a couple of minutes, trying to get used to breathing again. She was surprised that playing possum had actually worked; she expected Nina to be able to see through that act, but by some slight miracle, she hadn't. Whitney looked around confusedly, trying to remember where Kilik had gone.
"The... where was it?!" she asked herself. "Oh! The Pokemon Center!" She took off like a madwoman towards the Center, tripping on a rock and falling down. She got back to her feet as if nothing had happened, and continued her trek to her destination. Please Kilik, please still be in there! She was out of breath and shaking by the time she reached the predominantly red-and-white building, and walked toward the automatic doors, going inside.
"Kilik!" Whitney exclaimed, arriving inside as he was putting his Pokenav away.

Xanthos let out a respectful huff, Ariel's ability to melt into the water was quite impressive. He decided to let her go for now.
The horizon reminded him too much of home, and the annoying Team Aqua. They constantly pushed this moronic campaign about flooding the land and making more habitats for sea Pokemon. "Too much water, not enough fire." He said out loud, tossing a Pokeball in the air. Felsic was released, and stretched on the ground. His 'tail' fur was longer than last he saw, a wondrous sign. He's so close to evolving! He squeaked, bending down to pat the Quilava on the head. "How are you boy?" Felsic purred, a soft billowing stream of heat emanating from his pores.

Tingle emitted a low, monotonous hum as Scyther's attack struck him, showing no signs that it had even phased it in the least. "Tingle," Miharu gasped, her tone surprised. "When did you get so... tough?" She uttered the last part of her phrase to herself, pushing a lock of unruly greenish hair behind her ear. "Confusion attack," she said simply, both arms now hanging at her sides comfortably.
Surprisingly, Tingle obeyed, drawing a bluish circle in the air with a clawed arm. It then slashed the circle with the other claw, sending a burst of psychic energy at the Mantis Pokemon.

Kilik tucked his Nav into his pocket and collected his Pokeballs, nearly about to release his Lombre to teach him his new move, when he suddenly heard his name. The boy paused and turned, seeing Whitney come through the Center's doors. He rolled his eyes. "Oh, what now? Come to yell at me for something I didn't do?" Kilik clipped his Pokeballs to his belt and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Whitney, I honestly don't care what it is you have to tell me," he began to walk passed her, pausing to stand by her, "Nina and I are through. Why persist in nagging me about it?"

"Hey Felsic, long time no see," Kasiya giggled, waving at the adorable Quilava. My, he certainly looks bigger, she thought, remembering the tiny Cyndaquil that had hatched from the egg not too long ago. I bet he'll be evolving soon... She sighed, and glanced out over the water, catching sight of Ariel's mermaid-like tail disappearing below the water's calm surface. She remembered the day her little Eevee had evolved, what chance it had been that she touched the Water Stone instead of the others. She smiled fondly at the memory, but grimaced slightly, absently touching a gentle hand to her wound.
