Yeah, it moves exactly as a normal Dread. The reasoning behind the BS3 is that 1) the Mek is an experienced hunter 2) He's got the Howdah of the Orkifant to brace his shot. His cost would be jacked up a fair bit for it, though.

Since I got a request for them over the holidays, the Hero Creation Rules are up again. and once again, they're on Rapidshare, so this is only good for a couple of weeks, unless they're consistently downloaded. Download them here.

That last one for the SM sounds interesting. *thinks about how deadly a Dreadnought with Librarian powers would be.*

I don't believe I've told the story of the Deathmatch my local GW hosted awhile back. I cant remember about all of the characters in it, and yea, it was 40k. I entered with Calgar, looking quite puny compared to Thraka, Angron, Abbadon and Scarbrand. So, Thraka kills Scarbrand, just, and I mean, on one wound. Calgar went against Wogwart, who failed to do sod all with his curse, then got squished by powerfists. So, the final game was a tie between Angron, Skull Taker on chariot, Abbadon and Calgar. I destroyed Skulltaker with comparative ease, loosing one wound while doing so. I sit back and watch Abbadon literally beat the shot out of Angron, who took the warmaster down to two wounds, then once Abbadon won, Calgar leaped in and crushed Abbadon. mrgreen

Well, you guys may or may not have seen it elsewhere, so I'll put it here as well.
Given that I generally come up with the best/craziest homebrew s**t at my LGS, I've been working with a few other guys to come up with special characters for the various armies in this universe. Characters and special rules for EVERY ARMY are being accepted, and I'd reeeeeeeally appreciate any kind of help that could be given.

special characters are awesome unless you give them to beginners. no one likes playing abbadon illegally armed with a suit of dreadnaught armour and 50 lascannons, and when you tell the beginner they can't do that they whine and complain saying"he has a special rule" and they read you some made up chapter from the codex that is complete bull crap and doesn't make any sense.

That's why, if you're playing with newcomers, you make sure that they take the time to read and understand the codex they're using. It's also handy to keep someone nearby that knows the Codex. Another handy tip for newcomers is to have them use an army that has every model present, no proxying. That leads to unfortunate swapping of models or entire squads at times.

I know I'm probably alone in this, but I have to say that I find Chief Librarian Mephiston, the Lord of Death, to be the most interesting special character. Not only is he the second most powerful Librarian in the Imperium, but he is the only Blood Angel - in HISTORY - to overcome the Black Rage/Red Thirst. Something that even Lord-Commander Dante cannot claim to have achieved! Also, being "born" during the Second War for Armageddon? BAD a**. Also, he has awesome shiny goodies; Mephiston is armed with the Force sword Vitarius, Plasma pistol, wears BITCHIN' Artificer armor - which incorporating his ornate (Skull-tastic) Psychic hood. C'mon, they gave him, out of every character from ever faction/race, the title "Lord of Death"... That has to tell you something.

Lt. Brookman Cloten also beat down the Red Thirst. Um, no. He actually fell to the Thirst. That is why he was on the Bloodquest in the first place. Just because he had moments of lucidity does not mean he beat it down.

I just played a game of 3000 point game of fantasy, my High Elves vs my usual Orc and Goblin opponent. I used Tyrion and Teclis in my army. Doesn't get more bad a** than them. WASTE OF 875 POINTS!!! Tyrion ran off the table on turn three after failing a rally test on a Ld of 10 and I maybe got 2 spells off with Teclis the entire game. I kept rolling one under the flipping casting cost. So in my opinion give special characters all the hoopla rules you want, if the dice aren't going your way then it all means squat. Curse you LuckHammer!!!

I miss Makari, the luckiest Grot ever to live... well until a certain Mega Armoured Ork special character decided to sit on him... well he was his servant so I guess it was sort of okay. crying
BTW I generally find special characters too overpriced for the trouble, I've seen a lot of players who consider them cheesy or overpowered, but I've killed just about every special character I've ever come across just with a couple of Krak Missiles and Lascannon shots and I'm telling you now, those weapons were far more affordable. biggrin

See, I HATE the Space Marines only for the fact of them being human and how they're like the constant pump up that GWS LOVES and keeps making better and better while some races get left in the dust, HOWEVER!....However all this being said,
I LOVE freakn Dante. That armor is just GLORIOUS looking and beautiful. Though I am a Eldar player now, I want to purchase Dante at some point/time and paint him myself. Even possibly if I work it out with opponent, use him or something like under control or something from Eldar control or w/e. ANYTHING to give him a play, I am just in LOVE with that armor. I have a thing for lasts of blank greek/italian masqure kinda things.

I think Dante looks amazing. Top 5 models for sure. However, is it just me, or does his use of axe seem off to anyone but me?
