Doesn't Flarn draw from Darknrgy? And wasn't it also said that water meat takes away all the Darknrgy? If both of those are correct then the pain Flarn could be talking about could be this festival is hurting him.

If both of those are correct then the pain Flarn could be talking about could be this festival is hurting him. hence his not coming here... I think that it's two-fold, or more complicated than that. Flarn is going through a withdrawel of darknrgy (which is basically like heroin, or drugs of that nature) and the festival is the antithesis of darknrgy... The fact is... the festival is not hurting him, it's his addiction that is hurting him.

He needs to join a recovery class... :/ Okay, how do I explain? The watermeat itself is not deadly, nor really is the lightnrgy that it represents (in the act of giving)... Flarn's addiction is what is causing him the harm because a person sans the addiciton wouldnt be affected the way he is being now (hence he not coming near). No one believes 02 to be childish... however, 02 believes that being "santa" and giving these watermeats (and in turn lightnrgy) will save Flarn. Basically as a means of making Flarn detox. So this festival is a bit like rehab? Only Flarn doesn't want to go to rehab because he doesn't want to face detoxing?

MayaTH So this festival is a bit like rehab? Only Flarn doesn't want to go to rehab because he doesn't want to face detoxing? Yes, but it does not mean we cannot hold an intervention. In fact I feel we are responsible to do this.

I don't even want to know what that clip is now.
It's Ewan's character detoxing and the reason why he sees the baby is because his friend's drug addiction caused their baby to basically starve to death (die of neglect) so he sees it as feeling guilty... I do recommend the movie, it is great...
