Baptiste is...rather startled by the rather formal-looking collection of people. Eventually he chooses to follow Tamlin rather than find himself lost in the crowd. "I'll stay with you," he says to her once he catches up. "Perhaps if you find yourself with an attentive crowd I'll provide some music; perhaps even sing." He winks softly and smiles.

"why thank ye kindly" Tamlin spoke over her shoulder as she slowed down to wait for Baptiste.

"Since we are going together I will leave Brid here. I will be right back" Tamlin tied Brid off at the stable near by and passed off a few coins with a smile to the stable hand and hurried back to rejoin Baptiste.

"shall we be off then?"

It was a good ten minutes of wandering up and down the wagontrain before Emelyn found her son. He was very near the end of the wagontrain, standing with a stick and a very pained expression. When his mother found him, she was almost upon him before he turned to her, and she saw that he had bitten down upon his lip and looked quite sick.

"What's wrong?" She asked, only now noticing that the end of the stick he held was hanging in limbo between the wagon wheel and the ground. She did not wait for his answer after seeing this. "What are you doing with the stick?"

He let out a groan, then, as if a spell had been broken, he dropped the stick. "Nothing," he said, a very thin veneer of frustration in his voice. It was how his voice had sounded since they'd left the Twiggle Forest: normal... even sweet- only with a tinge or veneer of frustration or anger or sadness that he couldn't seem to express fully.

Emelyn looked at her son. The boy was still a cloudy white color, and his countenance was one of sweet, childlike innocence. That was what troubled her. He had never been so sweet and loving in all his life. ...But that wasn't her son. Pierre was a surly, impish beast with a love of things sharp and wooden. He loved to be out in the night, and had a taste for thick, must-ridden mushrooms and foul grubs. Now, whenever he tried to do something naughty, he looked pained, as if something inside was chewing at him. He couldn't even manage a full frown- niceness, correctness.... pureness- were his compulsions. He was a sweet child, a gem. ...But he wasn't her son.

"Don't you stick any more sticks into wagon wheels, Pierre. You know that can cause damage." She said it more for his benefit, as if she did not know that he wouldn't have been able to follow through. There was a soft smile on his face, then, and he appreciated what his mother had done. Then she took his hand and led him back down the line of wagons, wondering what would become of her boy.

They headed for the Choosing.

How this event will work. ^_^ This will be a lil different from previous events. For one, I will be enlisting various people's aid in the form of NPC help, and although they will receive a portion of the background to YOUR plot... they will not have the entire puzzle, and, then again, neither will you. And if you are involved in the event I will likely nab you to help me with someone else's plot.

A few things to keep in mind for this event. Remember that you can't swap over to the other festival unless I expressly point to that opportunity in the rp. Also, keep an eye out for people that we've seen before- and if you see a hint in the rp that's intended for someone else, please help them out. You wouldn't want a fellow gypsy missing an opportunity because they let a detail slip through the crack.

This will begin in the traditional event rp sense- in that I'm going to give a few chunks of information of what's going on, and you respond to one thing or another- then NPC's will come and interact with you, or you interact together to the environment. Also, not necessarily in this post, but as soon as the next one I'll make to you (based on what you respond/if you respond to this) there will start to be ...choices of what to do- and puzzles. ^___^ (That doesn't mean you can't start responding to things you see in these posts, though.)

The Parade continues to winnow its way throughout the city. Little children throw their lightly colored petals about. Those with the basins of shallow, gorgeously colored liquid look about, a little nervous, but smiling, and they are the only ones who don't take the unlit torches that are being passed back through the crowd. People elbow those nearest to them and offer them a handful of torches and urge them to pass them on. Sweet trays are being passed around, as well, and colorful candies and braised fruits passed back, golden and brown on the end of sticks. Far ahead, that flash of feathers and the cheetah skin still press through the crowd- and the Filor is bringing up the rear, nestled down in her cart of watersponges. Small bits of a song have erupted on the edges of the crowd. They continue to head for the heart of the city, and the smell of the ocean as they wind around a spiral path.

When you join the group, it isn't long before a priest or a priestess comes up to you and asks to take your arm (except for DeArca, who is nodded to politely and then mostly ignored by the priests... though a few of the women give you approving looks), and asks with a slight bow if they might escort you through the city. Others come near to you with braised fruit and sweets on sticks, and a red, syrup-like liquid in vials that is obviously meant to be drank. They offer them to you, expectant and smiling. There are a few women who seem familiar- but they are pressing through the crowd above you. The Great Gardens are not far away.

Caroline is surprised to find herself on the arm of a tall, winnowy priestess. Somehow Rojiza and Aisrhan's hands have gotten separated, and Caroline can only just make out Ais' serpentine tail through the myriad of feet, both sandaled and bare.
Through the noise, she hears the priestess offer to escort her through the city. Caroline, struck rather dumb by the strangeness of this whole thing, just sort of nods.

Rojiza, in her infinite childlike wisdom, notes her mother becoming rather daft when confronted with all the smells and sights of the city. A person, gender unidentifiable, whirls past her, pressing a piece of braised fruit into her hand. She looks at it rather dubiously, wondering if it's safe to eat. She looks up at Caroline, who's wide-eyed and fluff-brained, and holds onto her hand tightly. Obviously she'd have to protect them.

Marissa weaved herself among the Choosing procession. She took one sweet candy and a torch, and passed the rest on, as the crowd had already closed in behind her. She made sure Kale was strapped securely in her beltpurse.

Emelyn sidled up next to Marissa, and passed on the handful of torches without taking one. She put her arm around the woman, and resisted the urge to take Pierre in her other hand.

"Hello, Sister," she said comfortingly to Marissa. They were in the same boat, these two gypsy sisters- both with sons changed by the Twiggle Forest fae. Marissa, she knew, had felt the harder pain.

Carefully - almost reluctantly - Lorelei took one of the torches, passing up the food. She held it away from Vanna, worried for some reason that (if the light coming from them would really be white) it might hurt her daughter. It was paranoia, yes.

The scent and taste of the sea was coming nearer, and she took a deep breath, feeling, oddly, a little at home. The sea had been her world for so long, and even though much of it had been unpleasant, it was still, in a sense, 'home'.

Heather also took a torch and a couple of sweets giving one to Amkia to suck on. She then passed them on still sticking reasonably close to Lor.

Amkia took the sweet happily and played with it in his hands for a while chuckling while also watching the torch his mother was holding onto. He was reasonably happy, nothing could go wrong, even Kala was leaving him alone!

Kala, was annoyed about not getting a sweet but she was looking for the cheetah, trying to pick up the scent everynow and then hoping to find something that could give her an idea of where that other cat was.

Marissa, surprised, glanced at her new aqquaintance. She smiled; it had been awhile since she and Emelyn had spent time together. "Greetings," she replied warmly. "It feels like we haven't spoken in ages. How are you?"

She glanced back, through the crowd. She noticed the Filor, but could not distinguish who she was at the distance. Curiosity struck her. "Em, look," she said, pointing, "That's a Filor, is it not? Like...what was the trader's name...Twinket? Like Twinket?"

Emelyn smiled warmly. It had been a while- not since the forest had they spoken, and even then it was in brief. Before then, it was the ...timely death of the Panoptes, or whatever the blast it was, when they'd spent time together.

"It certainly has. And...I've been... worse." She resisted the urge to give a nodding look to Pierre. It would be cruel to suggest that her own problems with her fortunette son were anything in comparison to Marissa's and poor Kale's. But she was distracted, in any case, by the mention of the Filor.

"Hm?" She took Pierre's hand automatically, for the sake of his not continuing on as she looked over her shoulder. "Twinket sounds about right. I don't know, though. She's the only Filor I've ever seen. So for all I know, they look all alike." The Dove woman turned gypsy shrugged in apology. She was not as knowledgeable as so many of her gypsy sisters.

"We could go ask her. Couldn't harm any."

Silver pressed through the crowd, anxious to get wherever it was they were going. She didn't like being this close to this many people, and she was trying to keep hold of Aisrhan and Khevashi at the same time. The sooner she had some space, the better. Then, Silver noticed a presence beside them. She looked over to see a tall, white-robed figure whose face was covered in strange white markings. He almost reminded Silver of Khevashi. He was smiling and offering her a vial of reddish liquid. She might have taken the drink out of sheer curiosity were her hands not full, but she also didn't know what the drink would do to her, and did not want to risk abandoning her children. "No thank you," Silver refused, as politely as she could manage. The priest then offered to escort she and her children through the city. He placed a hand on her shoulder, and oddly enough, it was calming. Khevashi and Aisrhan didn't seem bothered, and she suddenly wasn't so worried about the huge crowds around her, or where they were going. Silver nodded and let the priest guide them along with the rest of the procession.

The priestess continued to direct Caroline and her daughter along with the crowd, the white marks on her face unique, as were all White Sect Priest marks. Her touch was gentle, and she continued to smile down at the woman.

"It's wonderful that you already have a child." She practically whispered down into Caroline's ear. "And go ahead, have some of the fruit. It's delicious- candied, and braised. It's only prepared for special occasions."

A flash of the cheetah fur can be seen far in the distance ahead- and, to the right, a woman in a beautiful grey dress with rune symbols at the hem. In her hand, she holds a diamond flute.
