Charcoal eye gazed at his 'brother', softening them a little. He was the big brother who was to always protect his adorable little siblings from harm and their own idiocity. Undeniably, he already was an older brother given his step-sister back home.

He turned back to the professor and nodded. He was curious as to who else was at this island and places for hiding places. He learned long ago that he was rather...good looking, and RuiZhi was an adorable kid since he didn't know English all too well. He'd have to teach Rui how to defend himself.......

Dante nodded to Wei. "That is good, then. Are you both going into science? Or is one of you going into magic? I'd love to learn some of the arts of your land." He was beginning to grow bored with the old arcane spell bases from the English texts he'd looked at when he'd awoken; now he had an opportunity to study those of another land and experiment with.

This would be fun.

RuiZhi was glowing with pride at the pretty man's compliment, beaming at Weiyuan. He was a little caught off guard by the next question, although it answered one of his own; the man was, in fact, a professor, and apparently taught magic. Not wanting to disappoint the man, he tried to think of a way to answer truthfully without disregarding magic as a whole. RuiZhi himself was a believer in the mystical...the real stuff, not the fungus-Goddess like back home. His sister had disregarded magic as something that could be explained by science, but he wasn't so convinced. Wanting to be a doctor did not close his mind to magic. In fact, he wanted to incorporate the two.

"I am studying to be a doctor," the boy replied gently. He paused, then added, "Can magic be a part of that?" He'd heard of the mystical people who could use magic to heal, without the use of medicine or bandages or anything mundane. Wouldn't that be amazing! His eyes started to glimmer again, seeing so many possibilities opening in his mind.

Now THIS was interesting. A boy who saw magic as part of science and not separate from it.

"That's correct," he said, first in a surprised voice and then in a warmer one. "There are people in my village called Healers that use magic and draw on the natural elements of nature, combining it with the bounty of the earth to heal people," he said warmly, his eyes traveling back to his home, to the little sister and the brother and the parents he had left behind for the greater good.

He missed them....

"There is a book you ought to read about a city who believes both magic and science can coexist and even be used in tandem. I'm in the middle of translating it, but would you like to read it when I'm done?"

"Science." It was an small response. Mostly just to answer the Professor's question. It seems his brother would do well at getting along with the instructors. The younger's beliefs seemed to be lest...firm in how they stand.

Indeed, Wei knew that magic was out there and could be used just as well as science. But...he'd rather stick to hard reality. He did much better with thinking using logics. He'd only turn to that if it there was nothing else to turn to.

"Healers." The boy was beside himself with joy. Someone who understood him, and had the means to offer him learning materials! RuiZhi could barely contain his desire to jump up and down. "I-I would like that, very, very much!" he managed to say, wringing his hands beneath his sleeves. While he didn't know what a tandem was, it didn't douse his excitement. "That would be great! Is it in your native language?" Oh, how he wished he had better words for this situation! He truly wanted to tell the man how wonderful and remarkable his offer was, but he couldn't in English just yet.

The excited boy turned to Wei, a little bounce in his step. So much he wanted to say, but no words came out; that, and the expression on his brother's face clearly showed just what he thought of the situation. RuiZhi turned back to the elven man, grinning ear to ear. What would Doctor Lorioth Manneth think of this? To think that proper care and treatment would always be available, no matter the circumstance...it was almost too much to hope for! "Thank you so much for the opportunity!" He was suddenly grateful that Mr. Herei had forced him to interact. RuiZhi made a mental note to bring him some tea and sweets to show his gratitude.

While he couldn't fathom relying solely on magic, the availability of the ability to know both worlds - the magical and the mundane - made him feel giddy. He really, really couldn't wait for classes to start!

Dante blinked but made no other change in expression. This boy was enthusiastic--it could possibly be tempered to this student's advantage, if he could control it.

Or perhaps he was thinking in terms of Elven years and not human years. These boys, were they Elven, would probably still be babes if human years translated to Elven. That's right. He must take that into account.

"You're very welcome. Remember that I am a teacher--I am here to provide you with the opportunities to learn, if that is what you so wish." He gave an affirmitive nod. "The journal itself I'm translating from is in a mix of Elven and a form of Latin from--" No, best not give too much away, "--a country you might be very familiar with. I'm afraid it's very valuable, so I can't give out the original. But I am three-fourths done translating it and copies for students to access should be provided in a few months."

He nodded to Wei, his face mirroring the calmer, more stoic personality of the boy. "An admirable choice. I hold respect for those who can understand how it works."

Weiyuan watched RuiZhi, a slight smile coming to his face. He could tell how enthusiastic the boy was becoming. He would have quite an earful later. He settled a hand upon the other boy's head. A signal he oftened used to tell the other to calm down a bit.

At least the other would be busy, and most likely find himself some mentors. Wei would rather spend more studying from the books, sketching, or checking to see if the rumors of Dr. Kenth being there were true. He was eager, no matter how little he showed it, to find that man. Whilst RuiZhi was still searching for someone to follow after, Wei was already quite sure of his path.

RuiZhi became still when Wei put his hand on the boy's head, his grin dimming into a slightly embarrassed smile. "I understand," he told the Professor, "and I wish you luck with it." This man was a magic user, so he didn't think he'd see much of him. RuiZhi was under the impression that there was one path or the other to be learned, neither suffering the other. He couldn't help but wonder if a student had ever gone down both. His excitement was ready to be unleashed again; he decided a walk would be good to get out some of his energy. "Thank you," he stated, excusing himself with an apologetic incline of his head, "I would like to take a walk. I have much to think on."

He turned to look at Weiyuan again, the motion forcing his cap to spin a little under the older boy's hand. "Shall we go find a room? We have much to do. I'd like to see the rest of the grounds." RuiZhi had believed he would be following in the mysterious Doctor Kenth's footsteps as well; the prospect of putting his feet into the waters of science and magic had filled his head with wonders. He knew he would have to sort out his thoughts, to feel out his options. RuiZhi knew Weiyuan would tell him exactly what he needed to hear, whether he realized it or not.

He had no idea that the same doctor that had inspired him so could possibly be in the school. For now, he was an aspiring student on the cusp of something great, encouraged by the success of a doctor he'd never met and the enthusiasm of his adopted siblings; he had time to dream before he set his path in stone.

Weiyuan nodded to the younger. "Yes, it's best if we do that." The wild-haired boy then turned to the elf and bowed deeply. "Please excuse us. We hope to see you around campus soon. Farewell."

He shifted his little backpack a little before giving RuiZhi a little push to get the boy moving. RuiZhi needed to move just so much. It was a cute habit, it would be okay if the other did or did not grow out of it.

Ka'hmesh glanced around as the small crowd filed off the boat onto the island. There had been some sort of announcement about a welcoming ceremony of some type. He guessed that's where most of the others were heading ... he hung back just a little though, waiting on his new friend.

He had been surprised at how easily the two of them had apparently become friends - though he suspected it was more because of the other's outgoing nature than anything he had said or done. It was odd, though. Farlest was nice and could be bouncy and almost childlike without being annoying. His antics didn't bother Ka like they could have. So, really, he didn't at all mind having made a friend so fast.

Spotting Ka's flashy hair color with an ease that really wasn't all that astonishing, and as soon as he did, Farlest was weaving around people and ducking arms and the like before appearing beside his friend a moment later, popping up and grinning widely. "Hullo again...sorry...it took me a moment to catch up."

Emerald gaze flicked from the taller teen to the buildings in front of them...an entire complex lay up ahead. "So I guess we're supposed to head thattaway?" In truth he was excited about this school, and even though he'd discovered that there was a diversion of interests between he and his lovely new friend, he didn't suppose it mattered...they got along just wonderfully, and in the end that's what counted.

"I think there's supposed to be a sort of welcoming ceremony, yes," Ka replied, smiling slightly in response to Far's wide grin. He hefted his single bag up on his shoulder a bit and looked off into the distance, crimson gaze wandering over what he could see of the island.

It looked ... interesting to say the least. "It looks like most everyone is heading for that cleared-out space ..." he murmured, and started walking that way, slowly, still looking around.

Farlest was right beside him, not quite a tag-along, but more making himself a friend and companion. The dark-haired boy had the tendency to latch when allowed, he loved people, and so long as he didn't annoy them, he could get along splendidly with nearly anyone.

Ka intriuged him, and thus Far wanted to get to know him better, that and well...most kids his age could pull off cute at best, Ka had a far more mature, attractive look. That was appealing. "So we probably should too, huh?" There seemed almost a bounce to the slender male's step, plenty of enthusiasm there.

Dante's eyebrows perked up at the sight of the boys.

The first--interesting. A boy with a solid build and tan skin. Perhaps he was...what did they call it? Arabic? He didn't know, but he was very interesting.

He nearly started at the sight of the second student; for a moment he'd thought the child had been an Elf! But...no...he didn't have pointed ears. ...Perhaps he had Elvish blood somewhere in his line. Elf-Human breedings, while not common, did tend to happen, and children such as that boy resulted, creatures that were bouncy and happy and contained childlike innocence.

...Strange, indeed....

He'd have to keep an eye out.
