Gaius's expression flickered for a moment, his stern glare being broken by a flash of worry that was quickly veiled. Had he done it wrong? Had he presumed too much? Nita hadn't wanted him to do this, after all. Besides, it was too late to change anything. What could he do? Drop the boy then and there and say 'Oh, sorry! I didn't know you were already making ammends!'

The horse-man pushed harder, leaning his weight on arm going across the bird-boy's chest. "Going to talk about it doesn't change what you did... you slept with that girl knowing she'd JUST been in a relationship with Nita, who apparently was YOUR FRIEND, at least before you pulled that stupid stunt. You don't go sleeping around with other peoples' exes right after they've broken up, you little vulture! Hell, you shouldn't be sleeping around AT ALL, a kid your age! That stuff's supposed to be AFTER marriage. Regardless, you HURT Nita, and then you act all surprised and victimized about it, like you didn't do anything!" Gaius leaned in close, his broad nose barely an inch from Miller's beak. His lips pulled back in a vicious sneer. "You make me sick."

"Give me one good reason I shouldn't march you over to Nita's duplex right now to beg for your life on your hands and knees?"

The horse-man grunted as Miller caught at his mane, trying to jerk back out of his grip, but the pulling hair hurt. "Let go!"

He blinked as something was waved in front of his face, taking a moment for his eyes to focus on something so close to his nose, especially with his changed field of vision, but at last he could see them. A couple red and white hairs. Gaius stared, shocked, then looked at Miller with disbelief. "You're not saying... I did anything like you?!" His lip curled up in a snarl again. "Are you questioning my honor?"

"There's a big difference between being a friendly shoulder to cry on and being the rebound one-nighter..." Despite his angry words, Gaius let up a bit, backing off so Miller wasn't being squeezed between him and the wall. He kept his grip on the lacrosse stick, though.

Gaius shook his head. "I'm just her friend, nothing more. And I didn't use this stuff to take advantage of her feelings, whatever you might think."

The look he gave Miller was piercing, studying the guy's expression closely. "This isn't about Lauren, this is about what you did to Nita. I don't care if you're starting a relationship, you should have waited. There should be a grace time. Hell, man. You DON'T go sleeping with someone's ex the night after they break up! What you SHOULD have done was talk to Nita first!"

"I may have the ability to, but the difference is that I'm going to choose NOT to," the horse-man snorted stubbornly.

He was angry. That's what he was. This Miller may have acknowledge he did wrong, but his attitude screamed otherwise. True, that might have been due to confrontation, but regardless!

So caught up in his as Gaius was, he barely had time to react to the foot swinging up. Just enough to shift his legs so that he got claws across his thigh, rather than a smack to the crotch. Then he rounded on the smaller guy, lifting his fists. He had to be careful, no doubt the labs had got their eyes on them by now, and any moment he could get buzzed out.

"You WANT me to pound you more? Listen, what you need to get into that feather-stuffed head of yours is that you owe Nita a SERIOUS apology. I don't care if you're mad at me, go ahead and be as mad as you like. But when someone hurts an innocent girl like her, whether he means to or not, I swear I'll kick his a** and make sure he doesn't do it again." Gaius shook his finger at Miller, neck arched as he growled out his words.

"I'll leave, but only if you PROMISE," Gaius stressed this word, "to apologize PROPERLY to Nita and ask for her forgiveness. If I hear you haven't next time I talk to Nita, I can guarantee you'll find me at your door again..."

Vixen, who'd been growling low ever since Miller lashed out at Gaius, eased up as the horse-man turned towards the door, following him out to the landing. The large guy turned around, leveling Miller with one last whithering look.

"And you better watch your language, kid. That's nothing a lady should have to hear." He slammed the door after him and marched down the stairs loudly, still angry and fuming himself, but feeling accomplished for a mission completed.

Lauren had decided to pay Miller a visit and finally show off her new camera. She was in a rather jovial mood lately, with only the passing thought of Nita bringing her down but then immediately pushed to the back of her brain to deal with later.

She went up to knock on his door. "MILLER!" She shouted. "It's ME, not some raving psycho panda, no need for the ******** lacrosse stick!" She didn't really know how necessary that clarification was.

"Wow! What crawled up your a** and... hey what the hell hapened to you!" Lauren exclaimed. She wasn't sure what to think. The whole room still smelled of fear and conflict, of sweat and a little blood. It made her nervous right away.
