Futanari Smiles Maria turned and looked at Cliff for a moment. "Something wrong?" she asked him with a gentle smile. She knew her father had a word with him about some things, but with the way he was acting, it made her wonder what was said. He turned back and looked at her, blushing. "Ah, I'm fine..." he said hesitantly. He held his hands at his sides as he walked along, staring at the ground. 'Jeez, I hate to make her worry, but I promised her father when I accepted this job that I'd be professional while we were working.' He sighed. 'Man, this sucks.'

She was thankful for him, he gave her a reason to be less shy, and a bit more open. Cliff looked up at her in surprise. "Ah, Maria, I...!" He shook his head. "Nevermind." 'Oh well,' he thought, squeezing her hand and smiling, 'what Thomas doesn't know won't hurt him.' He felt a huge weight in his chest lift, and he relaxed for the first time since they had left town. He smiled. It felt good to be natural again, the way things used to be. "Is this one of the farms here?" he asked as they approached Jill's farm. (I'm assuming Jill's farm is closer to town than Sean's. sweatdrop )

It looks like someone's already at work on it too," she said, pointing out the cleared and tilled soil. "True," Cliff said, "but look at the rest of the land. This place must have been abandoned for a long time before this new farmer came. And look at the buildings; they look like they're about to collapse!" His eyebrows furrowed with concern. "We've really got our work cut out for us with running this town, don't we?"

"I'll go out for a walk." She got up and stretched, then headed for the door.

"That's terrible that the land is in such poor condition," Cliff said, his mouth skewing. "I sure hope they didn't pay too much for the land..." he added, a sweatdrop on his cheek. He looked where she was mentioning, at the small pitchtent on the other farm. "Hmm...I hope we'll be able to do some good for the people here." He smiled. "But with you in charge, I'm sure it'll be no problem."

"And you don't put enough faith in yourself," he noted with a wry grin. "Me? I just follow the orders you give me and try to help you in any way that I can." He smiled. " You're the brains behind all this. But it is true, the people have to want to work, too, but I think their being out here when the land and buildings are in this kind of condtion is testiment enough that they're willing to work."

Futanari Smiles "I don't think I would've gone through with it if you couldn't come," she said with a smile, leaning in and kissing his cheek again. "I'd miss you just as much as you'd miss me..." Cliff blushed deeply. "A...Anyway, where would you like to go next?" he asked shakily, embarrassed. Even though it had been a while since they had admitted their feelings for one another, he still couldn't help but feel a bit shy around her. He couldn't help it; she was just too cute, he guessed.
