I just thought of some confusing logic from my science textbook and formula's...
Problem: A man falls 1.0 m to the floor
Question: How long does the fall take?
The man's change in distance is 1.0 m. His initial velocity is 0 m/s, and his final velocity is 0 m/s, so his average velocity is 0 m/s.
Change in time is equal to change in distance divided by the average velocity (which is 0).
You cannot divide by 0.
So how long did it take him to fall?
