(( *Quoted from the Main Temple thread* ))

Epine de Rose
"Alright then!" The Knight responded as he motioned to Masa and then to the door, "We shall head towards the coasts of Durem and onwards, we are bound to find some clues along the way!" He chirped merrily and dug his heels into his mounts sides, causing Behebuncle to snort in protest before barelling forward and towards the forests (Masa would find it easy to catch up with him though for he wasn't moving particularly quickly).

Nevertheless, moving outside and away from the crowds the tiny knight began his adventure and narrowed his eyes expectantly as he waited for his beautiful companion to join him!

//*Slides into the "Outside the Temple" thread*

Masa giggled a took just a few big steps to catch up to Onion Knight and Behebuncle. She was so glad to be journeying with them, as she couldn't think of any better company. Onion Knight with his brave, shivalrous attitude and Behemoth with his calm, thoughtful disposition. As she walked, she noticed that since the forest had gotten bigger, it had gotten thicker with bushes and trees. "I don't know if we'll be able to make our way through there..." She stood with her hands on her hips, attempting to peer through the forest. There was barely even a shaft of light that was able to peer through.

"We will." Onion reassured her as he adjusted his position on Behebuncle and continued to wander through the undergrwoth, his orange and yellow helmet easily seen amongst all the green surrounding him, "My dear squire always leaves trail for people to walk upon, we simply have to find them!" He announced and shook his head as he continued to observe the large and now very overgrown expanse.

It was true however, for as they continued through the forest they eventually burst through the trees and onto a rather broad pathway of rock, levelled expertly and tempered so that it resembled the cobbled paths within Durem - evidently, when the elder druid had attempted to stop the large airship he had also had the safety of the forest in mind and had designated pathways so that no one would chop through the beautiful plants once more, it was a clever move, if you could perform it.

"Aha! My dear boy performed his art as usual, wonderful! Now which way Lady Masamune?"

Smiling as she spotted the stone path, Masa thought of Roan for a moment. "He must be very powerful, to do all this..." She looked up and around the forest. The trees looked so big and healthy, it was like they had been planted there many years ago. "You must be very proud of him..."

When they came to a fork in the path, Masa looked both ways, tilting her head a little. "Umm...shall we go left?" The hesitation in her voice was evidence that she didn't know exactly where they were heading anyway. Still thinking of Roan, she considered the woman he had run off with. "Onion...why did Roan go with Dune and not us?" She looked down at him and Behebuncle.

Onion remained silent as he considered the young druid's question. His gaze remained planted on the pathway ahead of him and every now and then he released a slight 'hm' of thought, swinging left at the appropriate moment to indicate the direction in which he thought to be the most appropriate for the trio to take in the given circumstances.

"History I suppose." He replied at last, glancing up towards Masamune with a small smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, "He considered it right to do so." He didn't seem thrilled as he unleashed this statement and after releasing a snort he returned his gaze to that which lay before him.

"Why do you ask?"

"No reason..." She smiled back, a little half-heartedly "I just...no, I'm just being silly, I won't pry any further..." What she wanted to say was that she didn't like the look of Dune, she didn't trust her. Although, since she had only met her very very breifly, she thought it was silly to judge her. There was also more important things to be thiking about, like the crystal.

A bird's call cut through the air, like a sharp whistle, as Roger reached back, waving to those that were coming with him. He popped out of the brush, and onto the little pathway that had been left behind. He was kneeling over the stones, studying them, his hand running lightly over the hard surface. "Ain't natural... but then... what has been?" he muttered to himself, seeing few slight marks in his surroundings. Someone had been using this pathway. Could have been left by Dune. The thought brought a smile to his face as he pushed up off his knees, standing again. Quickly he started walking down the path, his ears always alert, searching. After all, being a witness in a fight like the one that previously rocked the earth here, well, he didn't want to stumble in it again.

Niva pushed through, onto the path, almost falling face first upon the stones as the resistance from the underbrush suddenly wasn't there. A moment of straightening up however, picking leaves and dust off her clothes, and she was ready, composed once again. A calm collected smile was on her face as she stepped behind what seemed to be the resident woodsman of the group. "You found the path. Should be easy going now, thanks for finding the path."

"You're quite skilled in this sort of thing, aren't you?" Merrick asked, picking his way along the path, leading Sasha behind him. His fine boots were going to get all dirty this way, but it wasn't right for a man to ride while ladies were left walking...

"You are sure?" He replied, arching a brow as he glanced up at the young druid and offered a small smile, "I would prefer not to hide information from my companions if I can avoid it." He pointed out almost knowingly, almost aware of her inquisitive nature despite the 'uncaring' facade that she appeared to be hiding behind at that precise moment in time.

Nevertheless, he pursed his lips and allowed the subject to drop - his gaze dropping to focus upon the pathway once more and towards the southwest, close to where the catacombs lay. If she desired to raise the topic again, then he would reply.

Nodding, Masa's smiled warmed as she looked down at the little Knight. "I'm sure..." Slowly, she let Dune and Roan slip from her mind. Ferosa and the whereabouts of the Crystal were top priority.

She wasn't sure exactly where they were now headed, having never been in this direction through the forest, but she was sure that Onion Knight knew exactly where to go. Hopefully, knowing Ferosa, he would have a good idea of where she might of taken the Crystal.

Sika followed her group, slightly beside Merrick, but she lagged slightly. This was mainly due to Elazu, who was now walking on foot with a rope lassoed around his waist, the other end held by Sika.
She was gentle with him, but his constan tuggings to search under every rock and leave to see if there was an elixir "mysteriously" hiding there got on her nerves. But still she kept up with the group, giving a soft tug on the rope every once in a while whenever Elazu fell too far behind.
The sight of the path was a relief for Sika, for it was an open, flat path that she hoped held nothing that would catch Elazu's curious eye.
" I'm sure you'll try to look under the path just in spite won't you Zu?" She asked the wiggling blue creature affectionately.
Elazu mainly returned the statement with a coo, then returned to his work. Sometimes Elazu felt like a full time job, but it was one she loved.

It was a while, walking along that path, before Roger pointed back into the forest, "Dunno which way this path will eventually lead... but the easiest way out of the crater is over there..." he said, and soon, plunged into the growth, leaving a little trail of bent twigs and stomped brush for everyone to follow him by. He was wincing every step of the way, with the damage he was incuring, but it couldn't be helped. Time was a factor here. And well, no telling if Dune would move that hideout again. He didnt' even know where to start looking. All he was was a name, and the idea to ask around where she ran into him within Durem.

Finally he broke through, near a spot where the crater's walls were gentle and sloping upwards, rather than the cliff he had crossed the last time he had to climb out of here. With an open, obvious path he picked up the pace a little, heading up the slope and into the forest beyond.

Sika frowned slightly as she watched Roger dive off the path. This ment more rocks, tress, bushes and whatever else Elazu could investigate. She glanced down at the half-foot, blue demon and sighed softly, tugging gently on the ribbon she had tied around his tiny waist.

Elazu squeaked angrily as he was pulled away from the pebble he had finally found. This pathway was boring to him, and actually finding something to search under, then being ulled away from it, was quite upsetting. He lanced back at Sika with his arms folded, demanding what was so important. Maybe she found something for him?

Sika rolled her eyes once she caught sight of Elazu's angry look. " Now Elazu, be nice. You know I have a couple Elixirs waiting for you once we stop for a break." She smiled when Elazu's orb grew brighter at the mention of not one, but two Elixirs just for him.
She scopped Elazu up in her hands and placed him gently in her front jacket pocket, letting him peer out of the top. " You stay right there while were going through the forest. You hear me?"

Elazu nodded excitedly and nestled deep into the pocket, still barely peeking over the top.

Sika smiled and quickened her pace, staying a safe distance behind Roger so that no branches may fling back at her. She was used to traveling through heavy foilage, and even loved it.
Soon they reached a spot near what looked like to be the walls of a crater. Sika slowly made her way forward and looked up at the sloping walls. " Are we going to climb up there?" She asked.

The memory of what she had seen in that civilized place was always in the back of her mind. Even when she had broken her staff, she did not cry over it, as she would have normally. She could only think of the Crystal. Where would she find it? She did not know. However she did have an idea. The forest. Any forest big enough. Her's was large and had many broken down shrines and so forth.

After walking for so long she stopped finally. It was the temple. It was the temple. How she knew, she didn't know. Whipeing her brow, she knelt into a comfortable position. She survayed the area. The balcony wasn't all that high. She could fly up there in a bird from... She just settled and thought thoughtfully to herself for a few moments.

Disturbances of many kinds were no doubt a common occurance - not a day went by when something random occured however events of such a volatile nature as this were quite inexplicable. The events which would occur in the given circumstances could only be fully explained by the events occuring simultaneously in the distant areas surrounding Durem but those within the forest would have been completely unaware of these.

Nevertheless, the earth pitching roar of a large beast could be heard across the winds as a large pulse of wild magic shot across the sky - the shockwave so strong in its own right that the unfortunate winged beings above found it rather difficult to maintain any form of composure.

"It is time for you all to return home..." A voice murmured gently into the ears of those who were within the forest, familiar in some ways beneath the low growl of a beastial quality, "It is no longer safe."

No argument would be given in response to these words and instead the image of the forest in which they stood began to dissolve, the matter around them twisting and churning until at last the Turtle's Paradise tavern materialised - the roaring flames and hospitable atmosphere much more welcoming than the now overgrown jungle of the temple forest...
