"Any where's fine." Marshall said, holding out his bandaged arm with a small smirk. His smirk turned decidedly devious, however, as Gaius got ever closer to his arm. As fast as he could with his mitten-like hand, Marshall managed to grab ahold of one of the more "loose" bandages on Gaius' face.
"Gotcha!"

"Gyah!" Gaius jerked back reflexively, more bandages pulling off as he did so, though he couldn't go far with Marshall's grip on them. He dropped the pen in the midst of his flailing, his right hand slipping out of his pocket as well as he raised his arms defensively. And on top of all that, his black wings flapped with his panic, tossing the towel off over his neck.
It was almost a funny sight, in some ways. Gaius stood bent-over, held there by the bandages still largely wrapped around his face, aside from the now exposed parts of his nose, some of the bandages having slipped down over an eye. One ear poked up on top.
"Er..."

Marshall stood there, a piece of cloth in his hands, seeing his freind look...Well, not like himself. His wings were huge, and his hand...His hand was like a hoof, almost. And his ears now stood towards the top of his head. This wasn't the Gaius Marshall saw only a few days ago.
"G-Gu-Gaius?" Marshall said, weakly.

The pegasus-man yanked the bandages out of Marshall's hand and quickly turned away, trying to cover his face once more with his hands. "I-it's nothing..." he said feebly. Damn, why was he doing this? It was like Shenzi. Why was he trying to cover everything up? It just felt so awkward.
"I-I'm alright, really..."

Marshall remained silent, only staring with empathetic eyes. He had to find some thing to say, even when there was nothing to be said. Slowly, he found himself walking towards his freind, lightly resting his good hand on his friend's shoulder.
"...You're still my big brother. Even...Even if you changed. You know that." Marshall said, knowing that that was probably the last thing on Gaius' mind, "Even if you changed...You're still Gaius. And I'm still Marsahall...Remember? Thats what we said before..."

Gaius jerked his shoulder out of Marshall's grip, turning his patchy back on the penguin. The words... brought no comfort. He'd heard them, spoken them to himself when he was at his lowest, but now they sounded empty.
"What does it matter? I don't... How can you tell I was even human once? And these strange behaviors, I can't seem to control them. Hell, I can't tell what's me and what's not me..." He sighed, pulling the rest of the bandages off his head. "So what if I'm 'still Gaius'? I'm still trapped here, and trapped in this body... this face that isn't mine..."

Marshall looked up at Gaius, almost with a glare. Marshall tended to be a sympathetic person, however, it was the face comment that set him into pissed mode.
"Uh-huh...Well, gee Gaius, I have no idea how it feels like to lose your face or any thing and have, oh, I dunno, a freakin' beak!" Marshall said, saying the last part louder just to make sure his point got across. He sighed, some how feeling like he was bullying his friend.
"...Look, I'm freaked out too. You think I just woke up and was just...okay with my face? And the flippers? And the feet. I...I'm not, okay? I'm really not..." he said, his voice almost distant sounding.
"But...I manage."

The pegasus-man winced visibly, cringing under Marshall's sarcastic tone. He gave his friend an apologetic look over his shoulder. "Sorry, guess I'm not one to talk about these kinds of changes..."
Sighing, he turned away again, looking down as he flexed his uncovered hoof-hand. "I know the flipper is hard for you. I... just hoped it would never happen to me. I feared it, certainly, but it only became a fear after you changed, and didn't seem real... not until now, when I have to deal with it myself. And this is my third change...."

Marshall found himself looking down at the carpet, feeling both...Angry and sympathetic at Gaius at the same time. Here he is, talking about losing his hands and face and how terrible it is, while this was some thing Marshall had been living with for what felt like months. Of course, that just made Marshall feel bad for Gaius, knowing where he was coming from.
"...If it means any thing. And I can tell it probably won't. But...You still look like Gaius to me. Square head, tall, muscular build...Ye-ep, definitely the same oaf I've known since I got here."

"Square head?!" Gaius shot Marshall a cross glare. "Since when do I have a square head? It's an oval, thank you very much! ...Well, used to be, anyways."
He couldn't help another sigh that escaped him. Poor Marshall, he'd come over to be friendly, and here he was, being such a downer. "Sorry... you know how I get after a change... and I've been under a lot of stress lately. The labs, and Lucas changed too... it's just a lot to all deal with. And I'm terrified of what Nita'll think when she sees me..." He shook his head dejectedly.

"You've always had a square head!" Marshall laughed, before Gaius mentioned the labs. The Nita thing didn't really bother him; Nita was into girls. Didn't matter if Gaius had a crush on her or not, as cold as that sounded.
"...What'd the labs do this time? And if you say 'nothing' I swear to go I'll pull your tail!" Marshall said, half joking. Then again, now thinking about it, it did seem kind of fun to.

"Nn-er... well, I, ah, had a fight with Zach recently, over at the construction site..." He reached a hand back to scratch his neck and winced as the cold, hard hoof touched skin, quickly drawing it back. "I said some choice things about the labs, sooo... they locked away all the supplies and tools and stuff. I... had to talk to them to get it back. Apologize. Kind of." Feeling rather awkward, and being without his nervous habit, Gaius began rubbing his hooves together, the scraping relieving a little tension.

"See? Not that hard, was it?" Marshall said, smiling still. Yes, part of him wanted to scream WHAT?! YOU APOLOGIZED TO THE LABS! THATS IT! I'M GOING TO ******** BITE ZACH'S NECK! but as any one would tell you, threatening to disembowel some one with your newly formed beak is NOT as comforting as it sounds.
"Hey, Gaius...If you need any thing, just, um...Ask, okay?" Marshall asked, "Now...You wanna sign my cast for real this time? I promise no bandage grabbing or any thing."

Gaius made a face, but nodded reluctantly. Perhaps it would be best, like Lucas said, to just face it. The bandages couldn't last forever...
Picking up the pen from where it'd fallen on the ground, Gaius worked on positioning it between the fingers of his right hand and turned towards Marshall. "Sure... just, uh, where should I sign?"

"Any where. I've only gotten one signature so far! Only one! I swear no one on this island knows how to deal with some one with a broken appendage!" Marshall laughed lightly, knowing it was a terrible joke. He wasn't sure why he was being more cheerful than usual. Perhaps it was to make up for Gaius' depression?
