Caeb teetered warily from where he was. The odd looking Hououza had no place of residence, no parent, nothing. Moon white eyes stared blankly ahead, sightlessly, useless. Small hands remained outstretched ahead of him as he cautiously made his way forward.
He heard voices, shouting. Voices meant people, people usually meant food. Normally, at the sound of people, Caeb hightailed it to wherever he thought he could be alone, but after a near week of no nourishment. (being blind makes food gathering difficult) He was willing to risk everything for a sandwich, or, some bird food even. An apple? ANYTHING.
As a wee feather, this Hououza had no name, as a child before the devolution, he had no family, so when he had changed into a feather, as with the others, he had no memories left behind, he was forgotten. Out in the wilderness, a wounded shadow demon fought off the battle of existance. Having been mortally injured by a paladin, warding him away from the town, Caeb wandered, trying to find a being he could posess, to guard his essence until he built enough stregnth to physically manifest himself. But all the towns were well guarded against the evil spirit, and after dark, no one ventured out into the boonies.
But Caeb's white eye caught the essence of life, flickering brightly. In a hole in a knotted old gnarled oak, where a rat had dragged it to make a nest was a deep brown and white feather, not discarded from any ol' bird, but the eternal manifestation of the lost Hououza. So Caeb touched the feather, posessed it, and a drop of red blood from the demon on the feather was the only indication the spirit had been there at all.
Over the years, the rats had moved out, various other creatures made their homes in the gnarled oak, the tree rotted and eventually fell away, and the drop of blood stained the feather beyond removal. Wind whipped the feather out of the nest and here, laying upon the leafbed, the first rays of moonlight the feather had ever known were cast upon it and Caeb was reborn in the body of the Hououza.
Not exactly, a Hououza spirit is a powerful thing, and despite Caeb's attempts to consume it, was pushed to the back of the Hououza's being, but now rests, wrapped around the Hououza's small heart, feeding upon the fears and emotions until he can rip free of the tormented Hououza's body and continue his reign as though the hiatus had never occured.
The only indication that the hououza was at all changed, is that his normally white hair has red stained tips, as though he had been spattered with blood. His eyes are reversed, with black where the white should be, and a completely white iris, a cataract, that under extreme duress glows like the moon. His wings when stretched, though feathered, have the silhouette of a bat's wing. And from his eyes have red streaks down the cheek as though his eyes at one point had bled, when their vision was lost.
Caeb followed the voices, tired of running from contact with others. His stomach growled loudly, and it was only his sense of self dignity that kept him from freely salivating on himself.

The arrival of Hikaro was the sound of loud warbling, followed by the badly imitated clucking of a chicken, and the hushed giggling of his two siblings, Haku and Raissen.
Haku was smilling brightly, large circular glasses on his nose, giving him the look of an owl. A large tome was tucked under his arm, clutched against him protectively.
Raissen strutted proudly, now an impressive 6'2" since his last growing He wore thigh high boots, over tights, tiny shorts, a corset and a netted top with a belled collar.
Hikaro was dressed in a plain backless sweater, green with stripes, and black pants. His wings were healing well.

Natu noticed Caeb as he ran along. This Hououza seemed more odd than him. He wondered if RubbaRogos got him. Their different potions could do a different amount of things to someone. He remembered as they tested other potions on different creatures, and when they came out, their shape was different in every way. He jumped out of the tree in front of Caeb, and held out his hand, as a symbol to stop.

Ryo looked at Hikaro, Raissen, and Haku as they came in as if a parade had started and these three were leading it off. He looked over at Haku, and wondered how Dian had gotten this one, as he remembered that adoption was restricted to those without Hououzas yet. "Hey. Finally, I've been waiting all day," Ryo said. Everett landed on Ryo's shoulder and hooted at him. "Oh fine," Ryo said. Sora ran off to the shop again.

Riddle Lupin Clousia Natu noticed Caeb as he ran along. ((Between Natu's muteness, and Caeb's blindness, they'll never be able to understand each other, it's a good thing Caeb's developing empathy.)) Caeb didn't see Natu's hand, but he heard when the older Hououza jumped out of the tree and landed in front of him. Startled, Caeb fell backwards, white eyes blankly staring forward, uselessly. 'help me!' The Hououza's spirit cried to the slumbering Caeb, nestled deep around his heart. Caeb's spirit awoke and peered from the Hououza's eyes, able to see despite the cataracts, as he was the one who put them there. The effect was Caeb could 'see' through his mind. Guarded, Caeb stood up, watching Natu closely.

Natu stared at Caeb, trying to depict this Hououza. He was a lot different from everyone else. He also was wondering why he'd heard a cry for help when no one had called it, then the voice vanished.

Caeb was confused as to why this other winged being was staring at him. Never having seen himself, he never knew that he looked different. His stomach gave another growl and he frowned, maybe this one had food.
"'Scuse me...Do you have any...food?" He asked, quietly, holding his stomach with his hands, much longer and he would be too weak to walk, let alone speak.

The Hououza looked blind, how could he see him? Natu thought. He quickly scrawled No. Ryo might though. on his blackboard and held it up.

Hikaro stopped for a moment before running over and grasping Ryo in a big hug. "Hey! I'ts been a while! What did you mean you've been waiting all day?" Hikaro was blissfully unaware of the bad news Ryo had for him, and was still rather bright.
Haku was a special case, brought over by Mrs. Lussier herself, as she wanted to make certain Haku would not get neglected a second time, some of the new owners applying to adopt Hououza seem a little, flakish.
Said Hououza pushed his glasses up with one finger, and blinked at the much taller green haired Hououza.

Ryo was a little shocked at Hikaro's actions. He waited for Hikaro to let go so he could say something. Everett had jumped into the air and landed on Hikaro's head.

((To avoid confusion, the Hououza is called Caeb, but when I say the hououza's spirit, it's the boy's thoughts, or his speaking internally to the Demon Caeb, or Caeb's spirit))
Caeb stared at Natu for a long time, he could see he had held up something but what it was escaped his poor mental vision. Sadly, he shook his head. Why wouldn't this person speak to him? Was he that hideous? "It....is okay...Sorry to bother...you..." He said, turning away and making his way toward the voices again, hands stretched out in front of him.
It was painfully obvious how little visual perception Caeb's spirit had, even while awake. Tired now, Caeb's spirit went back asleep, and any vision the Hououza had faded out again.
Walking slowly, he used his other senses to make his way to the others, but was unable to avoid running into a bench and a trashcan.

I guess he doesn't know I'm mute, Natu thought, heading after the Hououza. How he wished he could speak. It would make life so much easier.

Hikaro stepped back and rocked a little on his feet, bouncing Everett up and down, "Cute owl." He said, a little suprised the avian would be up and about during the day.
Raissen and Haku strode up, Raissen reaching up to try to pet Everett, Haku sitting on the ground and cracking open the tome to a page around the middle, adjusting his glasses, and trying to read.

Everett cringed on Raissen's touch, but he stopped and let Raissen pet him. "Ah, he's like that. He's different from most owls, especially since he can speak," Ryo said. "True, that is," Everett said. "Even if he does have a problem doing so," Ryo said, laughing.

Caeb caught the ghost of Natu's thought and paused. Was someone following him? Turning around, he strained his ear to try to catch any sound of if the one he spoke to before was trailing behind. Frowning, Caeb guessed not, but now he had lost the sounds he was following and stood still, utterly lost.
