"Sh-she controls fire?" Skylar asked in almost awe. Personally, she loved fire; at one point, Kage called her a pyro maniac for playing with aerosols and lighters... and perhaps some tissue, paper, and the floor of her room. Good times, good times, she thought, smiling to herself at the memory. "I'm sure they're fine, too," she nodded, knowing that nothing would probably happen. "I have a question, though," she started, puffing out a cheek for a moment as she thought, looking up at him. "Why does she carry that purple stone like it'll break any second?"
[[edit Yeah, like that xD]]

"Yep," Kai nodded, turning to look towards the beach and the shore of the mainland where their clothing and shoes hopefully still lay. "Maybe she'll show you sometime." He paused at her question and frowned for a moment as he turned to face her. "That stone..." he began slowly, unsure if this was part of the bit he wasn't supposed to tell her. But if he was vague, maybe it wouldn't matter? "That Mergex freak trapped Kaori's... friend inside," he finished awkwardly. He knew Sai was more than just her friend, but he didn't want to admit that aloud.

Skylar clenched her fist, hearing what he said. "That b*****d... trapped her friend in there?" she reapeated; yet another reason to hate him. "He's seriously looking for more trouble than he can handle," she said under her breath, gazing back in the direction of the lake; where they all had las seen Mergex. "Well, is there any way to get him out?" she asked, her voice back to normal, her hands hanging loosly at her sides; she knew that when she faught Mergex, that'd be even more reason to slice him. "I mean, i think i remember Sheped saying soemthing about it before, but still..." she trailed off, not realizing she'd said shepards name wrong.

Kai watched calmly as her fists clenched. It was honestly a bit surprised. She barely knew them, but she was growing so defensive about it. Though, he supposed anyone would. Trapping someone in a stone... was worthy of making anyone hate that person, wasn't it? He ran a hand absently through his still damp hair as he followed her gaze to the lake. He wondered if the fight was over, but didn't speak of it. He nodded at her question. "Shepard said that only Gordon could break it. Once it's broken, he's supposed to be able to come out again." He put an emphasis on the boy's name, teasingly pointing out she'd said it wrong.

Skylar looked at him, blinking for a moment. "Shepard.... got'cha," she said, making a mental note of the boy's name. "Well, then, we'll just have to find this Gordon, won't we? I mean, if it's your guys' friend, then we shouldn't keep him locked up, should we?" she smiled faintly, not sure if it was something to smile about or what not. She felt, though, like knocing him down for teasing her, but she knew it was really no reason to get worked up or even be mad at him.

Kai grinned at her as she corrected herself, then turned back to face the ocean. "Well, the first thing we have to do is get off this island," he pointed out. "Then we should probaby check by the hospital. It seems to me that Gordon would head there to check on Shepard, unless the battle's still going. I don't really see how it could last this long though." He shrugged and started down towards the island's shore, glancing back to make sure Skylar was following.
He didn't respond to the comment about Sai being his friend, or about keeping him locked up. Honestly, he didn't care too much either way, though if he did nothing to help, the guilt about Kaori missing him would probably eat at Kai until he finally caved in. No, however much he didn't want Sai near her, he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he didn't help. Weakling, the voice scoffed.

Skylar nodded, jumping into place beside him. "The hospital sounds like a good place to start; maybe Kaori will be there!" she smiled. As they approached the ocean, though, he wondered, how much colder the water would be. After all, seeing as it was past mid-day, the water would be cooling off by now, letting out it's heat. It may be a lot warmer than land, but it wouldn't have been to warm to begin with. "Let's just hope we don't catch colds," she sighed, feeling the faint mist of an ocean wave as the wind blew towards them.

[Kyaaa... delay... ><;;]
Kai smiled as she came up beside him, nodding his head and somewhat glad she wasn't questioning further about who Sai actually was. He walked with her back to the shore and paused as he glanced around at it. He knew his body was able to handle very cold temperatures without much trouble, but he wasn't sure about Skylar. He thought to himself for a moment, seeing she was gazing at the water as well and hearing her comment. After a moment, another thought came to him. "Hey, how about I make some sort of raft so we wouldn't have to actually touch the water. I could swim and push it along. Or... I guess it'd be pretty uncomfortable sitting on ice, wouldn't it? So maybe I could sit on it and hold you above it so you wouldn't be touching?" He smirked faintly and looked at her again. "Or we could just risk swimming."

[[my sister is making me get off in like, ten minutes, so i just came back on xP]]
Skylar laughed, but shook her head. "I love your ideas and all, but I think i'll take the risk swimming," she sighed. She persed her lips, though, looking over at Kai. "However, I don't plan on walking around later with a wet shirt and pants, but all the same; I prefer you to go first and not look back unless I scream..." she said, somewhat warningly. She planned on going with just her underclothing; although she'd be exposed more to the cold water, she wouldn't have to walk around in wet clothing after.
[[she WILL kill him if he looks xDD]]

[Pfft... fine. xD;;]
Kai grinned, shaking his head. "Alright, fine," he said, though he was really a bit disappointed. He had been looking forward to holding her again. But he didn't let this show and pretended to instead concentrate on her next words. He smirked suddenly as he imagined what she was getting at, but quickly raised his hands harmlessly before himself. "Alright, fine," he said again. "I won't look back. Just, if something grabs you, making sure to scream before it pulls you under." With that, he stuck out his tongue and darted straight into the water, hitting the rather icy liquid without flinching. Actually, it was pretty comfortable for him. He fought the urge to look back, as well as the voice now pressuring him to turn around.

[The voice is very twisted... >>;;]
Kai continued moving forward, arms repeatedly passing his by his head as they pulled him through the water quickly, his legs helping push as well. His eyes were fixed straight ahead, staring at nothing but the far shore. He didn't blink and he certainly didn't glance away. The voice would not stop taunting him and urging him. Just a small peek... it kept repeated, but Kai refused to listen as he just continued cutting quickly through the water, focusing on nothing but reaching the shore. The last thing he wanted to be considered was a pervert. Pretty soon he felt his feet hit the bottom again, but he still just moved forward, not turning around or even beginning to.
[Gah, I thought I'd posted this! Dx]

[[...very twisted xD]]
Skylar continued to swim, the cold almost turning her body nunb. I'm so glad I didn't wear my clothes... hopefully they'll be completely dry when I get up there, she thought, some salt water splashing into her face. She stopped momentaraly, wipping it out of her eyes best she could; it stung like hell. She squeaked softly, just blinking a couple hundred times, continuing back. In the distance, though, she saw Kai get out; damn, he swam fast. She turned the relaxing swim into a small hurry, not wanting him to wait to long. She was suprised, though, that he'd never turned around. How often do they listen? she laughed to herself. After a moment, she finally reached the shore, and quickly put on her caprees, to warm her legs, the material running along her body. She didn't mind that her pants stuck to her, but if her shirt stuck, she'd have a problem. So, she decided she'd jsut wait for it to dry; after all, didn't bakini's look the same as what she just swam in? He doesn't have to know that....
[[he doesn't know what bakini's are, right? xD]]

[No, he doesn't! xD Water was scarce back home. x3]
Kai just continued forward, walking casually onto the shoreline. He was breathing slightly heavy and his chest and hand were stinging again, but he tried to ignore this. He closed his eyes, the voice still constantly buzzing in the back of his mind, poking and prodding. But he refused to listen, which only made it grow louder. Kai winced and gripped his head tightly with his left hand, though it didn't make any difference.
He began biting his lip, shifting impatiently from foot to foot in the sand, his eyes fixed upon his boots and shirt, which were thankfully still sitting where he'd left them. At least that offered a small bit of relief to him. He heard her hit the shore behind him but still resisted the urge to turn. "Can I look now?" he asked, forcing the strain from his voice and replacing it with a playful teasing tone.

[[oh, well, then for all he knows, she's wearing the top piece of one xD]]
Skylar looked up, having been trying to get some sand of her feet. She sighed, shaking her head before slowly approaching him. She stood behind him for a moment, knowing he must have ben a little agitated, not being able to turn around. However, all the same, she took a step and bounced on him, wrapping her arms around his neck from behind. "And what if I said no?" she asked, smirking to herself. The answer by now, obviously, was a yes, but she felt like teasing him right back. She had seen him holding his head moments before and found herself somewhat worrid. She rested her cheek on the edge of his colar bone, her head leaning into the crook of his neck. "You feeling okay, though? You seemed like you had a headache before," she said softly.
