I have heard on this forum and in my local community that you can combine Witch Hunters Armies with Daemonhunters armies. Are they tournament legal? In which publication (rule book, codex etc.) can I find the rules for such an alliance? Thank you!

Alright, I'd like some clarification on this.

For the "Act of Martyrdom" (the act of faith that grants the invulnerable save), is it possible for a lone Canoness to perform the act? The Witch Hunters player that I face claims that she can and, given how for that act you have to roll higher than the squad size, she automatically passes.

Is that actually plausible, or is he just bullshitting me?

The Heroine (Canoness or Palatine) has the Adepta Sororitas special rule so she can use the Acts of Faith. There is no requirement of a minimum number of models per squad in order to try an Act of Faith, so yes she can try to invoke Spirit of the Martyr, whose test she will pass automatically since the player needs to role a 1 or above with 2D6. Same goes for Adepta Sororitas squads with only two models.

Now back to my question. Thank you King Kento, I found the dark gray box. It says that Witch Hunters can be chosen as allies for a Daemonhunters Army. Now I checked the Daemonhunters codex as well where it says that Daemonhunters can be chosen as allies for Sisters of Battle... but Sisters of Battle are no more as an individual army.

So is there a way to have a Witch Hunter Army with Daemonhunters allies, or the only possibility is to have a Daemonhunter Army with Witch Hunters allies?

Thank you!

well they would have to be true allies and have a seperate force org chart with required compulery choices. Unless their is a FAQ which states otherwise

Bullshit.

Your opponent is wrong, it may not be intentional though, its a small paragraph. Page 18, bottom left, Independant characters without a unit have to pass an unmodified leadership check. Not 2D6 over squad size.

Well the acts of faith thing I covered right above in this post. Anyways, Im confused what youre asking here. You can use deamon hunter models with witch hunters or the other way around.

So if that doesnt asnwer it for you, perhaps tell me what it is youre trying to do or make, it might just be your wording.

Codexes say:

Witch Hunters can be allies to Daemonhunter. Good!
Daemonhunters can be allies to Sisters of Battles. Bad! since they exist no more on their own.

I read FAQ, it does not say anything about this. Question is:

Is a list made of Witch Hunters compulsory units + extras WH units + allies Daemonhunters units(max 1 HQ and/or max 1 Elite and/or max 2 Troops and/or max 1 Fast, as given in Daemonhunters Codex) tournament legal as long as per total a respect the army chart?

So true what King Kento said about Acts of Faith used by individual characters... I cheated unintentionally my acts of faith with my heroine. sweatdrop

It's just a change of lingo.

In theory, if you use Space Marines, allied Grey Knights and Sisters of Battle with inducted Inquisitorial Stormtroopers, you can have all the arms of the imperium's current forces in one army.

It wouldn't make sense to have it yes in one and no in another. See which is most recent and follow that.

Not that simple, because the base army MUST provide the compulsory units and is the only one allowed to take Heavy Units.

Well, if you roll it right, Exorcists can be significantly more powerful than the weapons that the rest carry. If you really need armor killing, have some Marines take Las/Plas in their squads. For your fast attack drop some Grey Knight teleport squads. Beefing your HQ out with a Guard Command Platoon would give you access to a hell of a lot of stuff without filling up more than one slot, and for fast attacks you could take Sentinels or Land Speeders (giving them Heavy Bolters and Assault Cannons would make them the most useful, also provided that you take two troop choices from that army).

But...yeah, that force would be crazy as hell.

Im still not getting your dilemma here. Either one, deamon or witch, you pick an HQ and 2 troops, and then you can fill the other HQ, an elite, 2 troops, or a fast slot with the other. So whats the problem?

I have been told that if I take a Witch Hunter Inquisitor in my parent army (Witch Hunters Army) then I am not allowed to bring Daemonhunter allies as specified in Codex: Daemonhunters, as they are allies to the Sisters of Battle. Is that true?

actually, it never says in the daemonhunter codex that a sisters of battle army that has grey knight allies, cant take DH heavy units razz it only says that for SM and IG razz

And fluffwise, that would make sense, since both WH and DH are branches of the inqusition, and that the inquistors can (acroding to fluff) take command of both razz

As Bynne was getting at, it doesnt say that. (at least not that I know of). The witch hunters are a branch, and the sisters are their militant end, the deamon hunters are a branch and the grey knights are their militant end.

Youre talking about a witch hunter inquisitor, thats not a sister of battle, and even then sisters cant be in an army that has allied space marines (as in normal marines, not grey knights).

So mix the two as you please.
