Evil Black Swan Pup in Fluff Evil Black Swan You can't march with an oboe! Are you crazy? One wrong step and your reed is done for. Put you'd really have to have a perfect roll step to keep the reed steady... That's alot more work than it's worth. That's why you carry extra reeds and it makes you learn how to roll step more perfectly! 3nodding But... if your reed broke then you'd have to take the time to remove the broken one, replace it with a new one and re soak it... all while marching... Judes probly won't like that too well and the people watching the parades are gonna be like: "What the hell?" It doesn't take that long...seeing as oboes have a lot of rests, just try to/pretend to play your broken reed untill you get to a part you rest a lot on...then change your reed. and, by the time you do a real concert, you'll have the roll step down and you won't have to worry about breaking your reed or having to change it. 3nodding

I play oboe and study it at university and I have to say of all the instruments I've tried, it is by far my favorite. It has a lot of soul and is unique in the orchestra and symphony.

i started playing bassoon last year 'cause one of ours graduated and the other wanted to start her modelling/snowboarding career. i learned to love it, but i was expected to play with our school's top group at festival in 4 months, and one of our songs started with a bassoon holding a really low tone and continued w/ solos throughout. everyone was nervous 'cause until the week b4 festival that low tone was always hit or miss. when festival day came closer i started messing it up again. everyone was nervous, but i got through it (i was sweating so much and was still shaky in the band clinic after we played)
marching season: grade 9&10- Bbclarinet; 11-bass clarinet; 12- tenor sax(this year)
