I thought it was decent. of course, the fact that I'm one of the stars helps.
The art wasn't magnificent, but I still liked it. I think Kyle made a comment on it a few pages back.

Two new topics up for discussion: Storefront Sign What are your favorite GL trades? (this one's for you Miguel) smile Storefront Sign Superman isnt doing to well, relatively speaking, at the box office. Its pulled in less over the holiday weekend than Spider-Man 1 and 2, X2, and far less than War of the Worlds. Over seven days, Superman Returns has put up less than X3 and Independence Day. Also, the box office numbers dropped after two days, instead of rising, suggesting negative word-of-mouth (something Ive witnessed). After a cost of around $300 mil (counting failed starts, production costs, and marketing) it will be a while before this movie turns a profit, and it might not turn a major one. Superman is facing tough competition this weekend, with Pirates invading the theatres. So why is Superman Returns getting only a B- average rating, and comparatively sloppy box office? As much as I didnt really care for it, if anybody should get an A+ blockbuster movie, its Superman. So whats the deal?

It could be as simple as burn-out.
Two Spider-man movies with a third on the way.
Three X-men movies.
One Batman movie with a rumoured, if not out right planned, sequel.
And now Superman Returns.
We geeks are still watching them, but even we're getting a bit tired of superhero movies.
Imagine how people who probably weren't that into them in the first place must feel.

The box office can bite me and die, as well.
Also, in addition to the novelty of superhero movies wearing off as well as an overabundance of them, this summer has a much better crop of movies than a summer has for some time, which makes it more difficult for one movie to pull away dramatically, and has the capacity to pull dollars away from some movies, as not everyone can afford the ticket prices required to go see every movie they want to see. Folks have to pick and choose, and knowing it'll be out on DVD before X-mas leaves very few movies as a "must-see."
Also, the X-Men and Spider-Man movies have the luxury of recent sequels, which Superman Returns does not. Add to that a lack of a big name to draw casual movie goers, and it's doing quite well. 100 million in a week isn't a flop, or even a bad showing. No, it's not the biggest movie ever, but it's doing just fine.
Really, I've heard no negative word of mouth about Superman Returns. Everyone I know who has seen it has loved, or at least liked it.

I saw it with a few friends of mine. One of whom hates Superman. Another of whom hates superheroes.
Not a single member of our group was disappointed with the movie.
Except for when Krypto didn't go flying after the ball. I was a bit sad there.

Virgil Hawkins Also, the X-Men and Spider-Man movies have the luxury of recent sequels, which Superman Returns does not. Wha? Spider-Man, the first one, took in $114 mill on opening weekend, and it opened on a Friday, not a Wednesday. X-Men, the first one, opening weekend brought down $54 mill, also opening on a Friday, and both opened at less theatres. Why did those do better than Superman?
