Tacincala This is my 6th year playing the alto saxophone. I love playing it, but I need a new instrument. My director knows someone that will let me bring home a brand new Selmer Omega for a week. Does anyone know how good they are? Hm....well, all I know is that Selmer comes up with great stuff so...I'd imagine that one would live up to the reputation...But I have a Yamaha....she's nice. whee

Durza the Shade I can sort of be considered a saxophone player now. I'm playing tenor for pep band, but I've only put the thing together twice and I'm still learning the fingerings. I'll get it soon enough, and no one cares if you don't sound good in pep band, anyway. XD Very, very true. Which was really good for me earlier in the year when I was still horrible. OMFG! I saw the coolest thing EVER earlier. I went to a concert with a couple friends and there was a ska/punk rock band with a tenor sax player. (And a trombone player, too.) But yeah... it was friggin' AWESOME. Rock sax. Hell yeah. 3nodding xp

I heart Ska. The varied instrumentals were one of things that appealed to me about ska. Saxes can be used in a lot of music, too.

I was at a battle of the bands that had a ska band with an alto sax and trombone. Unfortunately, some dipshit had the speakers that were hooked up to their mics turned around so you couldn't hear either of them gonk

Does anyone know how good they are? Selmers are beautiful saxophones - probably the best you can buy...I have a Selmer Series III, and it is fantastic - it has the most gorgeous tone, I love it. However, I have never heard of a Selmer Omega. But the fact that it is a Selmer should have some significance - Selmer is generally a name to be trusted. 3nodding

really, once you've played one sax, you've played them all, they're just in different keys, I started on Alto sax, then went to Bari, then to Tenor for 1 year, and now I never get to play tenor...oh well, I want a sop. sax, and Bass would be fun, but hard, I would need like a .5 reed lol and contrabass would be even better...

Maybe it's 'cause I started on it... but I like the sound of it better, too. Even if I did have to get used to having harmony, which I wasn't used to, being a flute player.

I play Alto sax.. apparently I have good sound.. bah.
..I use a size 3 reed, I'm working my way up slowly, but surely.
I love my sax.. You were supposed to learn Clarinet at my school before you started playing the Sax, but I first played euphonium, and then trombone, and THEN I played Sax.. I was the teachers pet, haha so I never had to play Clarinet.
