The changes are never easy, regardless of the stage. However, at the very least, you can say that this time it is not nearly as horrid as the last change....

It starts when you're mostly asleep lounging in your aquatic duplex. The strange rubbery-skin seems to spread upwards, overtaking the normal flesh that had remained on most of your torso, arms and face. Beforehand, from the right vantage despite how much you had changed before you could still be mistaken as human. No longer.

As the moments pass, so does the remnant skin. It is thicker, rummery, and the same dark color as your dolphin-tail. As it finishes up, the remnant parts of your legs pull into the thick tail. And while at first it feels like it's being pulled in, pulled closer, and restrictive.... as it passes it jsut feels like one strong muscle. No longer do you feel bound or restrained, just one thick, powerful tail.

Your lungs expand furhter in your chest, giving you the amazing diving capabilities, and your teeth sharpen in your mouth, perfect for snatching and eating fish. Finally, your fins grow longer and stronger.... and then, the changes finish, leaving you complete.

Earn of the Wings and the Song of the Bird of the Sea - Finally Whole

It all started with a dream, but it wasn't exactly a dream. It's was more like a vision, a memory of a world long forgotten... or was it a world yet to be discovered?
The moon was full and it was dancing among the stars, with wisps of clouds adorning the silver hair. But the sun came and the stars ran away. Angry the moon cried pearls as it ran away after the stars, leaving the sun alone over the sparkling blue sea
The pearls fell in the water, but they were no longer moon tears. They were fish, sprakling and dancing little silver stars of many colors and shapes, laughing under the sun's rays. And the laughs were cheerful whistles beneat the waves
The birds of the sea were happy and danced along with the silver stars, their mouths exploding in a rainbow of taste as they occasionally ate one of the moon tears. Everyone sang the song of the sea, the swift birds, the lazy big clouds and even the eating black thunder
They sang so much, the curious creature from the between came to see. But it couldn't sing because dance with the stars. So the bird of the sea came and helped the funny creature back to the between. The bird left a song as a gift and stars shined in the creatures eyes

...

This was what Cody was dreaming as the final and last change was finally taking place, a dream of dolphins, whales, orcas and humans. It was a nice dream, even if strange
But has the thick, rubbery skin was spreading upwards and healing the dolphin bite scars, as new tissue formed and new blubber provided a bigger protection and insulation, the dream started to shift and his mind awakened. He didn't took notice of what was happening until the tingling sensation reached his neck

He didn't had a mirror to check, but a quick glance towards the upper part of his now dark arm confirmed it. The final change was here
Cody didn't know how to react, except entering in a state of panic. Flashes of his last change started to invade his mind and making his blood run faster out of fear. They were sensations mostly, remnants of the vicious pain that had robbed him his legs. What else was it going to claim this time?

The fast pumping of blood only seemed to accelerate the transformation. The skin was finally closing over the nose, replacing the old, inadequate human skin and leaving a smoother, more hydrodynamic shape behind
The only area that escaped was the scalp, retaining the same long, sand coloured hairs that adorned the boy's head

While this change was more odd than painful, the real transformation was about to kick in, this time from the inside. It began with what was left of the legs, the remaining bones feeling like they were melting away into nothingness, while the muscles shifted and pulled, leaving the already powerful tail a solid mass of pure muscle, hidden away under the thick skin
It was painful, not as blinding as the last time but still more than enough to make the poor kid cry in agony. The only reason he remained in the bed was because his tail was completely unable to be of any use at the moment

But the trials were far from over. While the tail was nearing it's final form, the organs started to move downwards, some of them expanding and other even dividing
The breathing system was the one that suffered the most dramatic changes, the windpipe seperating in two, one for the lungs and the other for the stomach, while the lungs deepened further into his body. That alone was more than enough to send his body into a shock, unable to retreive enough oxigen into the blood system while the changes burned all the available supplies
Perhaps it was a good thing Cody passed out while his body struggled to change and keep itself alive at the same time. That way he missed the most subtle but drastic change, the reason he had been given the dolphin serum in the first place, along with the massive headache the change of the teeth caused

The nature of his double serum, the combination of 2 dolphin dna, and the fact dolphins had a big brain ration to begin with, had the distinct property of physically changing the original brain greatly, something the other serums avoided doing. That was why it was able to cure his MS
But so far the manifestation of his dolphin side had been small. Perhaps it was the close nature it shared with its human counterpart, of depending more of the valuable lessons it learned from the world than the inbuilt instincts most animals had. Or perhaps the body was not developed enough until the strong, finalising nature of the last injection kicked in
Either way one of the most well known dolphin features was finally settling in, even if not as accurate as the real thing, the ecolocation!

That transformation didn't really had words that could describe it, nor was Cody awaken to feel them. It was a complex re-wiring of the brain structure, eliminating all the little remains of the faulty original thing. But with that came the loss of the information within, either them being memories or the remaining instincts caracteristic of the human tree of evolution
In the end he was much more dolphin than he could realise. The boy and the dolphin were finally one and the same!

Embrasing the Sea

There was no telling how long it had passed since Cody had fainted due to the changes. Hours, minutes... it didn't matter
His body was sore and it ached to breath, but he was alive, even if weak. He struggled to open his eyes and even more to gather enough energy to move

But it wasn't the same Cody that woke up and looked around his surroundings, trying to find something edible to calm the ravenous hunger the transformation had left behind
But it wasn't the dolphin either. Although the scattered items around him now held little meaning to him, he could still remember their names if he tried hard enough to remember. But that wasn't important right now

There was a feeling of uneasiness invading him. Though this place was certainly familiar and had a rather safe feeling attached, it was making him feel claustrophobic. He needed more room, he needed to be in an open space, he didn't like feeling trapped with no room to swim
Though it hurted to move, he quickly made his way towards the underwater door and into the lake
But even that space wasn't big enough. His now dark brown eyes could see further and more clearly than before, but it was the sounds that told him the limits of the lake. It was like a vague image in the back of his head, like a shadow of an object, but it was enough to tell him this space, no matter how big, was still limited in all sides

He needed more space and there was only one place he knew that had it. He slowly made his way down the river and towards the sea, his tail moving in a fluid movement like he had never achieved before, propelling him easily through the water with little effort applied
The more salty the water tasted, the bigger the urge to reach the sea was. Deep down he knew that was where he belonged, where he could fly beneat the waves, eat the sparkling silver stars and sing like the bird of the sea he was

And reaching the sandy slopes and open shores felt like glimpsing heaven. This was his home, the sky beneat the waves, the wonderful land without limits. The life on land seemed like a dream, or perhaps a nightmare. But here he was awaken and here was where he belonged.... Home!

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie felt terrible about missing Marshall's party. It hadn't been her fault she'd been sick, after all. Everyone gets sick at some point in their lives, and that's not taking into account if they were being turned into some creature of some sort. Even so, Sophie couldn't help but feel a tad bit guilty for the whole ordeal, and it was for this reason that she happened to be out and about that particular day, taking the long way to Marshall's duplex to offer her sincerest apologies.

She hadn't gone directly to his room, partially because she was nervous and partially because she hadn't quite figured out what to say. She'd angered the penguin man once, however inadvertently, and she didn't know what she'd do if she'd upset him again. Pacing the shore of the lake, she began nervously itching at her arm, which irritated her even more so than usual.

Looking out towards the lake, she sighed, ruffling her hair with a furred hand. She just needed to relax, that was all. Perhaps a nice little swim would do her some good. Rolling up the legs of her jeans as best she could, she sat down on the shores and gently dipped her feet into the water, testing the temperature. Deciding she didn't quite want to take any sort of plunge just yet, she stayed content with her paw-like appendages staying submerged, and for a moment, forgot of her worries.

Even so, why was she so itchy today?

Cody Archer
It was the first time ever since his change that Cody was spotted in the lake. He had been living in the wild sea, not too far from the shore where the fish was still abundant and not hard for a lone dolphin to live on
But despite how natural that environment felt, he couldn't help to feel lonely. Every now and then he would listen the dolphins in the distance, but they were a group he avoided at all costs since their first meeting. So the only other source of company was from the islanders
But so far he hadn't been lucky enough to see anyone bu the beach. That's why he was venturing into the lake, closer to their dwellings and hopefully with much bigger chances to find someone

That's when he heard a splash breaking the surface. His hearing underwater was quite sharp, even more than before, so he had little trouble to tell where it came from or how far it was
A few clicks confirmed there was something definitly there, even if he couldn't tell the shape. He didn't emitted the sound conciously though, though the shady image he got in result was no longer a surprise. This ability was still quite new to him, but somehow he knew how to make it work.... to an extent

Cody quickly got his head out of the water to have a better inspection of who it was. It didn't seem like anyone he met before, but his memory was something he couldn't rely much on lately. He still hadn't recovered fully from the shock of change

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie wiggled her toes, relieving her hand of it's itching task to dip itself in the water as well, making ripples with her clawed fingertips as the moments idly passed. In fact, were it not for her random drawings in the lake, she wouldn't have noticed the movements of another, and her ears pointed forward as she looked out with curious eyes at the...boy? She thought it was a boy, but couldn't be sure: he had greyish skin, after all, and despite the oddities of the Island, she had no doubt that the thing could be something other than a boy, or had been something other than a boy at one point in time.

"...Hello?" Sophie called out to the thing in the friendliest voice she could muster, her hand resuming it's itching against the opposite arm. "I've never seen you before...what's your name?" She felt somewhat silly, calling out to something that in all likelihood wouldn't respond back. Even so, it was something better to do than simply scratching at the mosquito bite that dotted her arm with a red welt, and it's not like anyone else was there to hear her.

Cody Archer
Cody slowly approached with ease, looking curiously at the woman. He was getting more and more sure that he didn't know her before. The words took some time to be processed before he realised what she was saying to him. It had been a while since he talked to someone and that had been before the changes. His brain was still adjusting

But when he tried to open his mouth to talk no sound came out. There was no air circulating through it, even though his lungs were pushing the air. He had never realised before, but he could no longer speak... not in the same way he had done all his life
A sound came however, but it was a shrill of dolphin whistles, accompanied by a series of clicks and low moan and he grew distressed by the realization

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie blinked as she took in the sight of the boy, whom she was now pretty sure was actually a boy. Some sort of fish boy, but a boy nonetheless. "Hey there," she called out again in a friendly manner, only to hear whistlings in response. She furrowed her brow as she looked at the boy, confused. "Are you okay?" She wasn't quite sure what to make of his clickings: after all, she didn't speak dolphin.

It was in this moment of weakness that her changes struck, the itch intensifying as fur began to creep up her arms, spreading over the patches of skin on her face. With a cry, Sophie's feet retreated from the lake, only to have a tan coat replace where water had been. She gave a frightened glance to the boy, her brain overloading with surprise, shock, and fear, only to double over a moment later, curling up to hide her face.

Cody Archer
Cody was struggling to find his words, but only the distressed dolphin sounds came instead. All he could reply was a nod at being alright, though he was feeling quite the opposite

But then he noticed her fur beginning to grow. He had only witnessed someone else's changes once before, a long, long time ago when he still had legs, a memory that seemed more like a dream now
But though his lack of consistant memory, he remembered all too well what it felt to go through a change. His fianl one had been not too long ago

He tried to approached her as far as he dared to go, consern written all over his face while his voice was a high pitched whistle. There was a fear imprinted in his brain, a fear of getting stranded and not being able to return to the water, that he was trying to fight as he was concerned for her well being
He didn't want it to hurt, he didn't want her to be scared. Even if he didn't know he wanted her to make her feel better, to make her know she wasn't alone. It was probably that dolphin urge to help others when they were in pain that caused such a strong reaction coming from him. He just wished there was something he could do to help

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie's hands clenched as her ears began to grow even larger, spreading past their previous points and shifting to the top of her head, where animal ears would be. Fur continued to sprout from her pores until it engulfed her entire form, and as she tightened the ball in which she'd curled herself up in, she suddenly realized that her pains had abated, and whether or not her change was finished, it had stopped for the moment.

Looking out towards the lake again, she noticed that the boy was still there, and crept towards the waters despite a growing sinus pressure. "D-don't worry, I'm okay..." Sophie murmured, almost afraid to look down at the foggy reflection the water's surface to see her new appearance.

She never got the chance: before her gaze could turn downwards, her nose began pushing out into a muzzle, and she recoiled again, whimpering as her tail pushed out from her spine, the bones popping with each new vertebrae. It wasn't long until that, too, was covered in fur: a long, bushy tail reminiscent of a foxes.

Cody Archer
All Cody could do was sit there and watch at a show he never paid tickets for. Though he never had to grow fur, muzzle or a bushy tail, the changes were triggering back memories of old, nasty pains

Unconsciously his whistles were getting faster and more distressed, interrupted by clicks and shrills of different pitches as he desperatly tried to communicate back
But when she told him that she was ok, he calmed down a bit. His message was getting through in a sense

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie's teeth gritted even as her face elongated to it's final length for the moment, and her newfound tail thrashed about in random spurts of pain. There was a feeling of resolution with a final twitch or so, and Sophie took that to mean the actual end of her change, flopping to the ground as she let out a pained moan, holding her head in her arms. It occured to her in a moment of hatred how cruel those in the Labs could be at times. All the money they spend on subjects, and no anesthetics to speak of? Even so, after a moment and a whine of protest, she made herself lift her face to meet the dolphin boy's gaze.

"Sorry 'bout that," Sophie gently responded to his clickings, her exhausted face attempting a weak smile. "I-I think it's over, actually." Her voice was shaky, and afterwards, another whimper escaped from her muzzle. As much pain as she'd endured, she hoped she hadn't scared the boy: after all, she couldn't tell his age because of his changes, but he couldn't be much older than mid-teens, could he?

"So, uh, how's it look? One click for 'Not too bad,' and two clicks for 'Geez, Sophie, you look like crap,'" she blinked, softly grinning at her joke from her stationary position. "My name's Sophie, by the way."

Cody Archer
Cody quieted down as the changes seemed to stop. He was still tense, but a small toothy smile greeted her to show his relief

He blinked at the question, not because he didn't understood what was being asked, but because he wasn't sure if he was able to do what he was being asked. A series of clicks wasn't too hard, but he had never tried to produce just a single one
He breathed deeply to gather some focus and tried to produce an individual click. It came out 3 or 4 and he immediatly waved his arms to say that was not what he meant. The second attempt was better and only one came out, even if a bit distorced

He wanted to reply and tell her his name, but there was no chance he could pronounciated it with his nose. The Co was easy, but the rest would require too many attempts to get it to even sound right
Instead he flattened some of the muddy surface with his webbed hand and wrote down "Cody Archer". At least he could still get that right

Sophie C. Bell
"'Not too bad', huh? Cool."

Sophie rested her head against her arms, prompting a sneeze as her nose brushed against her fur. She wasn't quite sure what to think of herself now: did she even have the courage to face exactly how she'd changed? Sophie knew she could see her nose without having to make herself cross-eyed: it was more of a snout now anyways. But exactly how much of her had changed? With a curious streak, she brushed a hand to her face, testing the texture. All of it was fur. Oh, boy.

Glancing down, she noticed the boy spelling something out, and read it to herself as he wrote with his webbed hands. "...Cody Archer? Is that your name?" She gave him a sympathetic look, and her ears twitched downwards in response, only to jerk back up again as she winced again, an ache caused by the tenderness of her ears after the recent change.

"So, I guess you really can't talk, huh? That must suck," she commented, almost deluded to her situation. After all, here she was, newly changed, talking to a dolphin boy who couldn't speak, and she somehow didn't care. Maybe she was just dreaming again. Maybe it was just that the Island had finally gotten to her.

Cody Archer
Cody nodded as she spoke his name. He couldn't do much but stare, since it was clear he couldn't talk anymore
But he really wanted to talk, he wanted to tell her this had happened in this last change and he had been perfectly able to talk before. It was so frustrating he couldn't help to bang his tail in the water while his mouth quickly shut in a sign of anger. It was all so unfair

Sophie C. Bell
The sound of splashing was enough to make Sophie scramble to her knees, though why she was being so jumpy, she didn't quite know. "Hey there, it's okay," she responded in a concerned voice, her head shaking to get the water from her face. Slowly, she nestled back down in order to be eye to eye with the boy, though she couldn't help looking all the way down to his tail. So...the island made mer-boys, too.

"Did this just happen to you or what? I mean, you don't look too happy," Sophie responded, trying to search for answers. A more social person would have been fine with this one-sided conversation, but Sophie kept it awkward at best, her tail twitching in anticipation. "It looks like you've been here a while, though...am I right?" Sophie tried to think of exactly how long she'd been on the Island, and decided it was long enough.

Cody Archer
Cody stopped a bit surprised when Sophie jumped up at the noise he was making. And later a bit embarassed when he noticed the water he had splashed on her

He pondered for a bit on the best way to explain what happened, a low gurgle-clicking sound escaping through his nostrils while the thought
He pointed to his tail and waved his hand around a bit, trying to say that happened some time ago, and then he pointed to his throad and nodded, stating that was quite recent. And his tail splashed again vigorously to show how annoyed he was by all of it

At the second question he simply flattened the mud again and wrote down the word "June". He had no idea what time of the year it was now, but it didn't really matter anymore. He was happy to have some company

But he was growing restless of being in the shore for so long. Water was his element now, the only place that provided him some safety
But he didn't want to leave his new friend behind. He looked at Sophie, then to the lake and back at Sophie again with an inquisite whistle, asking if she wanted to join him

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie looked down at the writing, blinking in surprise. "June? That's gotta be almost a year, I'd guess," she commented, shrugging her shoulders. As he retreated to the water's edge, however, Sophie hesitated: she wasn't wearing a bathing suit, nor was she even sure she could swim.

"Uhh...hold on, let me try something."

Was it worth getting her pants wet to swim with the boy? She didn't want to disappoint him, but then again, she enjoyed her dry pants, too. She looked around, then to the water, her eyes set in thought. She then looked at her fur covered arms, frowning. Would it even count as being naked, she being furred as she was? Now that she thought about it, her pants seemed uncomfortable and restraining, and a part of her wanted to be out of the restraints to warm her fur. Sighing, she shook her head and unbuttoned her jeans, wriggling her way free within moments.

Tossing her pants to the side (she kept her underwear on to maintain some decency), she looked to Cody with a grin, and wiping the hair from her face, gave him only a singly auditory warning. "Cannonball!" the fox cried, and with that, she lept, curling up her legs to create a splash.

For a moment, her arms flailed awkwardly underwater, but she somehow maneuvered herself to air, and took a deep breath once she surfaced, shaking her head to rid some of the water from her yellow ringlets. Her fur stuck up in the strangest of ways, and had she been looking at herself, she likely would have laughed. Then again, had she been looking at herself, she would have realized the extent to which she was no longer was human, but hey, ignorance was bliss.

Cody Archer
In other occasions Cody would have been really embarassed by the situation, but his brain was too numb to really pay attention. Not like there was anything to see with the clothes she kept on

Her cry surprised him for a second, but when he got splashed he was really delighted. He quickly dived and inquisitively swam around her with ease, brushing her sandy fur with the side of his body
Touching and nudging was a friendly sign in the dolphin community and it just felt right for the dolphin boy to establish that type of connection. He wasn't trying to make Sophie feel surrounded or trapped, he was just subconsciously hoping she would reply to the wordless greeting

Sophie C. Bell
"Hey, no fair!"

Sophie giggled, her energy boosted with the change as if she'd never even stopped taking her medication. Taking a breath, she dived downwards as well, blindly swimming around with her eyes shut, only daring enough to look underwater after her second try. She felt clumsy and slow in comparison to Cody, but at the moment, she didn't care: it was just a nice day and a fun swim, and by this point there was little else on her mind.

Surfacing again, she kept herself afloat, wondering if perhaps they could start a game of some kind. A game sounded fun right about now: if only they had a beach ball, they could play volleyball, or she could swim after a stick if he threw it...wait. Had she just thought of playing fetch? Her nose wrinkled in distate at the idea, only for her to sneeze a moment later, the new smells still a bit much to her.

When the idea finally came to her, a mischevious grin sprouted from her muzzle, and her legs started kicking slower, as if she were preparing for something. When she got the chance, she beat her hand against the water, sending a wide splash in an arc around her as she giggled again, though the chittering now seemed to resemble a fox's bark. "Tag, you're it!" she yelled, tapping his shoulder and diving down in a feeble attempt at escape. She knew she had no chance, but all it did was make her kick harder to swim away, her awkward body not meant for water. Whether or not she won or lost, it was fun, and that's all that mattered.

Cody Archer
Cody was a bit amused at the fox girl's attempts to swim. Not the type to laugh at, just a simple pleasure of having someone else around
Of course he couldn't help to show off, swimming and occasionally brushing her fur as he circled around her

But at the mention of the word tag he just grinned and bolted after Sophie, not even giving her the chance to get away before he touched her back and let out a short whistle to say "tag" back
Though instead of swimming out of her reach, he came up with something more mischevious. Getting bellow her and grabbing her by the arms, he quickly pulled and dragged her through the water surface, as fast as his tail could carry them
It was really easy now that his tail no longer had his legs to restrict it. Besides the fox girl wasn't really that heavy underwater

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie's body arched in response to the tag, and she swiveled to reorient herself in the water so that she could tag him in return. However, before she even had the chance to, a sharp tug pulled her under, causing a moment of panic before she realized it was Cody. Then, it was all fun and games for her: in the small window before she had to let go for air, she enjoyed the feeling of having water rushing past her, wondering how great it must be to be able to enjoy this every day.

"Wow, that was awesome!" Sophie said once she had surfaced, wiping the hair that had clung to her face. With a splash or two, she continued swimming around, and let out yet another yipping noise similar to a bark: it simply seemed right to do. However, it didn't occur to her that perhaps the commotion could attract others: it seemed to her that she and the dolphin boy were entirely secluded, and had she been asked, she would have preferred things that way.

Cody Archer
When he felt her pull back, Cody immediatly let go and stopped to check on her. He could have gone on with it a lot longer, but he didn't rememebr her lungs weren't able to hold their breath as well as his
He grinned a sharp toothy grin at the comment and decided to put a bit of a show. It was not everyday he had company and he really felt like expressing it

Taking a dive and kicking his tail as fast as he could, Cody broke the surface of the water like a torpedo and over Sophie's head before skilfully diving back in in a loud splash
All that training was finally paying off. His skips were still very simple, but now that he didn't have the remains of his legs in the way it was a lot easier to get them right. Probably because he could bend his body much better now... and because he was going with the flow, not worrying half as much as he once did

Osbourne Caldwell
Oz's brain had just sort of switched off for the afternoon. He'd felt the need to go for a walk. A very long walk, and had travelled in a lazy circle through the village, on the skirts of the jungle for fear of the monsters that lurked within, and was now following the river down to the lake. He'd started with a determination to walk like a man.

But willpower gave way to gravity.

Oz just couldn't fight his top-heaviness and after the sixth or seventh stop to catch his breath, he just resigned himself to walking on his knuckles, as much as it pained him. Physically. And mentally.

As he approached the lake shore, he was vaguely aware of the sound of splashing and voices, but assumed it to be a water-bound Islander. He reached the edge and kneeled down low, cupping one large hand and sipping the water he collected in it. His first drink all day.

With a very heavy sigh, he looked about the shore, spotting something crumpled up. He ambled over and inspected the fabric, which turned out to be a pair of jeans. Girl's jeans.

Oz looked at them quite baffled, wondering where a single pair of girl's jeans could have come from. They were still warm.

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie watched the boy with utter fascination, an expression made all the more comical by her wide blue eyes. Astonishment soon gave way to glee, and as he finished his little routine, she clapped enthusiastically, thoroughly impressed.

"Wow, that was amazing!" Sophie proclaimed, only distracted by movements on the outskirts of her peripheral vision. Ears perked up, she looked over to find her jeans being held up by a...gorilla? It was then that her ears flattened, however painfully, her eyes widening in despair instead of joy, and she began swimming back to shore.

"Uh...those are mine," Sophie responded meekly as she pulled herself up from the water, the entirety of herself soaking wet. She wasn't sure if she was talking to an Islander or an actual ape, so close was the resemblance, and she blinked once, her brow furrowing. If it did turn out to be an Islander, and it looked to be a man...well, Sophie came to the realization that white shirts weren't so good for concealment when wet, and had she not just recently acquired a furry face, she would have been entirely red with embarassment. "Just, uhm...going for a swim, y'know?"

Cody Archer
Cody was about to put up another performance when he saw what caught Sophie's attention
He might not have a use for clothes anymore, but he still had an attachment to the things that belonged to him. And if someone was messing with something that wasn't theirs, it certainly didn't suit him right

He followed the fox girl as far as he dared to go, letting out a lecture of angry whistles, cliks and moans. They didn't really had any meaning, it was just a serie of sounds that expressed how annoyed he was about this. Messing with his new friend is messing with him

Osbourne Caldwell
Oz watched Sophie haul herself from the water, eyes wandering over her furry frame briefly. Questions concerning this girl's sanity for going skinny-dipping in a lake that had an octopus man AND a shark man aside, he held her jeans out with a gargantuan arm.

"Here you go...you shouldn't leave 'em lying around y'know...you don't know what might run off with them in this place," his voice too deep to be human anymore.

Then Cody's angry protests caught Oz's attention.

"Oh...what the hell have I done wrong NOW?" he sighed heavily, thick brow furrowed to make him look quite the angry monkey.

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie took the jeans with a weak gesture, looking back at the rather annoyed Cody before finally returning her gaze to the rather large ape man. "I didn't get any memos about pant-thieves, but I'll believe just about anything these days," she replied, her ears still flat against her head, more apologetic than irritated.

"It's okay, Cody, he didn't do anything wrong," Sophie said, looking back to her dolphin friend as hung her jeans over a branch so that they'd be safer, having to stand on the tips of her paw-like toes to reach. Once they were secure, she looked back to Oz, wondering why she'd never noticed the man before. He was just so...big. She wondered if he had been thin as a human, and it then occured to her that there'd been an ape with a british accent in George of the Jungle, and she forced herself to not so much as even giggle, despite the irony.

"So...what brings you out here?" Sophie asked, blinking as she still stared at the man, new and insignificant questions popping up every moment in her head. She wondered if maybe she should return to the water to make Cody feel more comfortable, but finally determined that he would be okay for a little while at least.

Cody Archer
Cody quieted down when Sophie said it was alright, but he still a watchful eye on the ape-man, just in case he tried something. A bit meaningless thing to do, since he was completely useless on land

Measuring up Oz he realised this guy really was big. Because he had to look up to everyone now that he was stuck on a "sitting" position, people's sizes went rather unnoticed. But this man could easily pick him up and there was nothing he could do to prevent it, even with that heavy tail of his

Osbourne Caldwell
Oz flared his nostrils and huffed slightly at the sight of Cody in the water, the boy's angry clicks putting him on the defensive straight away. He chewed his tongue idly and then diverted his attentions back to Sophie, who was starting a conversation despite his fearful appearance.

And yes. His eyes did wander over her bottom as she hung up her jeans. Almost like a reflex action for him now. It was the first nice female bum he'd seen since meeting Aislinn when he, and she, were still human. As she turned around, he averted his eyes quickly to his hands. Which he was still standing on.

Embarrassed, he moved quickly to stand on two legs, grunting painfully and fighting back a yelp. Oz wobbled unsteadily like this, but at least he looked less animal. Of course, he now towered over poor Sophie.

"Errrggh...I was out...walking...came for a drink," he mumbled, some words inaudible because of his deep voice.

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie's eyes widened as she watched the ape man take his full height, and she couldn't help but softly whimper, the fox wanting to run off and find a hole to take protection in. Shaking her head, she somewhat got it together, though even with her enlarged ears it was hard to understand what the man was saying.

"...Isn't the bar over back that way, though?" Sophie inquired, pointing towards the Village with a confused gaze. There was no way he could have been that new. She looked back to Cody, then to Oz, her tail twitching out of curiosity, but deciding that she wasn't going to think about it anymore, went towards the waters to continue her swim.

"Hey...do you want to join us?" Sophie asked, trying to be polite. She wasn't even sure if gorilla's could swim, but she figured at his height he must be able to wade in the shallows. "The water's really nice right now. Not cold at all." She looked to Sophie with a smile, hoping for him to affirm what she'd just said.

Cody Archer
Cody put his tongue out at Oz's huff, a little pink in the middle of all that grey, but he too got defensive when he saw the man's full stature
If it was up to him he would have prefered to resume his play with Sophie and stay as far away as possible from that mountain of bulk. But seeing the fox girl smilling he couldn't really say no. He nodded, but it was clear he didn't completely trusted Oz yet

Osbourne Caldwell
Now there was fear. That was one of the downsides to actually trying to keep himself human - in the end, he still looked like a grotesque giant. Oz had come to realise there was no escaping what he was about to become fully, but he still felt shameful every time he put fear into someone.

"When you're thirsty, you'll drink anything. The...lake was closer than the...bar," he explained, almost like a child would give an excuse for late homework.

He wanted to return her good manners and try to smile, but the large canines on his bottom jaw already made his mouth lopsided and mis-shapen. Trying to smile now would probably mentally scar her for life. Oz wobbled as he shifted his feet to face the lake, look quite apprehensively at the waters.

"I...IIIIIIIIIII...don't think I can swim anymore," he sounded disappointed.

He just caught Cody as he stuck his tongue out, so he returned the gesture in a immature fashion. This was a man who was old enough to be married with kids in school.

Cody Archer
Cody was doing a patrol in the rivers, clicking occasionally, an unconscious attempt to find something of interest to distract him from his current state of mind. The feeling of loneliness was stronger than never these days and there wasn't anyone at the beach he could "talk" to

He really missed the ability to speak. It shoved him to the side and kept him apart from the other islanders. It was depressing not being able to voice out his opinions and having to stand like a decorative vase. His vocals helped not being forgotten, but it just wasn't the same

Richard Harrison
Richard was once again spending a lazy day up by the river in her 'territory.' She was frustrated, Awen hadn't contacted her yet. Her task was on hold until she got some info from Jordan, one way or another. She didn't know how much time she had until Moreau returned to the island and she would have to operate with much greater secrecy if he did.

She consoled herself with to have patience and wait for now. Her reading had grown some what more topical, and the pile of books under the had a couple books on canine behavior interspersed with the normal spy thriller novels. At this moment the heat had driven her from her tree and down to the river bank. The summer afternoon was brutal enough to disturb her afternoon nap. She sat waist deep in the cool waters, not caring about the muddy state of her capris and the raggedness of her T-shirt.

Cody Archer
Cody was already thinking of turning back when a sudden image hit his brain. His echolocation wasn't good enough to have a complete clear image, but he knew there was something near the shore that didn't resemble a log, a boulder or any other large, inanimate object

He intensified the series and the pitch of the clicks to have a more accurate reading, approaching the undentified object curiously
The sound would probably go unnoticed by normal human ears, but for those with sharper senses the pitch could cause some headache. It was way too high

Richard Harrison
While Richard's hearing was keener than most humans, the transformation had to overcome decades of slow hearing loss to get to this point and She did not enjoy that high pitched world that many of the other islanders experianced at her level of "progress." Cody's sonics bounced off her body without so much of a notice.

Her eyes were scanning the river bed for movement, her tentacles posed to strike any fish that made its presence known. She had played this game before, she had yet to catch anything but it definitely passed the time.

Cody Archer
As Cody approached, he was pretty sure that someone was indeed there. He didn't know how he knew it, it just felt different from the rest of the surroundings

With that new boost of confidence he bolted towards the person, unaware of the imminent danger. He didn't care if it was someone he knew or nor, heck he didn't even care if it was still human. He was craving for company and a sense of belonging

Richard Harrison
Cody was almost on top of Richard by the time she noticed the ripples and splashes on the surface of the river. She turned her head and saw a figure rushing toward her and the tentacles, already primed, struck into the water. They hit the figure almost full force as Richard herself, scrambled backward, onto dry land. She filled the air with a surprised screech.

Cody Archer
Cody was completely surprised and then enraged by the attack. The impact from the tentacles was strong, but with all that blubber he had for insulation it didn't really hurt him

But before he could react he felt himself pulled out of water. Scared and angry, he let out a furious shrill and trashed madly, trying to resist the force dragging him out of the water
But sadly he didn't had enough space to properly kick the water and escape the danger, so all he could do was keeping his loud cries of anger while he kept closing his mouth repeatedly, threatning to bite the opponent if she got too close

Richard Harrison
The muscles that stretched from Richard's back to the tips of her tentacles strained with effort trying to pull the thrashing boy to her. But the force of the small suction cups on each club were simply not up to the task of handling prey the size of Cody. The popped off as soon as Cody's weight encountered the sandy bank Richard had been sitting on. As they gave way Richard scooted backwards, fliping herself around so she faced Cody on all fours, teeth bared, the tail held ridgedly behind her as she growled at the fish man. In the heat of the moment she did not recognize Cody.

Cody Archer
Feeling himself free, Cody struggled for a moment to regain his balance. But instead of trying to run away, which was the most wise decision considering the odds, or perhaps the most stupid if Richard was to pounce him, he glared back and stood his ground
He could be young and he could be foolish, but at that moment he was angry enough to believe he could literally knock some sense in this person. He was trying to be friendly and he got attacked for no good reason. If this woman wanted a fight then he would gladly reply

He kept he continuous whistles and clicks of defiance and the repeated clapping out his mouth, while showing all his size and the marks he had gained
The scars from his encounter with the dolphins were mostly gone, but he had a couple more from hunting. They were signs of his thoughness and a clear statement he was no stranger to fighting. Part of it was a bluff, but perhaps it would be enough to intimidate the opponent

Richard Harrison
Richard only snarled in reply at first, drowning out Cody's whistles with a screaming roar that caused the nearby birds to take to the sky as one. She readied herself to pounce, to teach this youngster some manners about charging someone like that. Just as her legs trembled to spring, recognition hit her like a thunderbolt. Her eyes widened as she was who it was she was about to attack. "Cody." The high voice was half surprised and half scolding.

Cody Archer
Cody was starting to have second thoughts about this when he heard the roar. He didn't flinch much because his position didn't allow him to, but he was trying to find an opening that would allow him to swim to a safer distance without getting mauled. The shore was a dangerous ground for him and he knew it

But he halted when he heard his name, glaring back in confusion and suspicion. There was something familiar about this woman, but his fragmented memory didn't seem to recall her face
Then it hit him, a vague recognition of those black tentacles. It was all that came to him, that and a warm feeling towards this person, but it was enough to ensure he had met her in the past

He tried to say something back, but again his mouth formed a sound with no air to form the words. Instead it was a friendly whistle, that didn't match the synchronization of the lips

Richard Harrison
Richard was unable to completely suppress her hostility, she still thought he had attack attempted to attack her. Her lips relaxed enough to speak with but the whites of her teeth were clearly visable as she spoke. "Cody... what are you doing here?" She took a tentative step toward the bank. "Why did you charge me?" There was suspicion in her voice but the hostilty was fading as she remembered who Cody was and how young he was.

Cody Archer
Cody was a bit surprised when she thought he was charging against her. He might not be able to say it, but his bodily language did it for him, in a purely human reaction when he straighten himself backwards and looked completely confused
But when he tried again to speak nothing came out, only a kick of his tail as frustration grew. Instead he made a flat pile of mud and wrote "Didn't" with his webbed fingers. And after giving Richard enough time to read it, he flatened it again and wrote "Lonely". Hopefully that would be clear enough

Richard Harrison
Richard crept closer still to look at Cody's writing. She looked somewhat dubiously at the first word and her ears drooped a bit at the second. It appeared she still had a soft spot for the youth and her heart sagged a bit at so honest an admission from the boy. She looked him over, he still had a fairly human upper torso but the legs were all aquatic. Could he still be unfinished? It didn't appear so, all of his changes had the look permanence to them. Nothing looked incomplete, unlike her own body with her small hands and sparse fur.

And he had ended up with no voice.

With a sigh she slid back into the water with him, not giving a second thought about pulling him into a four armed hug. "Its okay Cody." She whispered, muzzling his hair before releasing him.

Cody Archer
Whatever reaction Cody was expecting, that one certainly wasn't in the list. For a split second he thought he was being attacked, but then he realised it was just a hug. He didn't fight it, instead he returned it and appreciated the contact. It was a reassuring feeling

When she released him he was grinning a happy, toothy grin and whistling it all out. The variety of sounds he produced was from low squeaks to high squeals. He was feeling really chatty today

Richard Harrison
Well that seemed to have made a difference for the better. The kid seemed pretty happy now and was making an awful lot of sounds. They were nothing like a human voice. She tussled his air with a handpaw. "So ya can make lots of noises but you can't talk eh?"

Cody Archer
He immediatly stopped, perplexed. He never really thought about that. But then again what good did it bring? He still couldn't make himself understood

Cody simply nodded and fixed his hair off his eyes

Richard Harrison
Richard looked at Cody with a thoughtful stare, absently grooming the back of a hand paw as she did so. "So if you can't talk, where is all that noise your making coming from? Hmmm?"

Cody Archer
Cody pondered and did a few experimental clicks to be able to tell. He wasn't sure, but the sound seemed to come from the back of his nose

He pointed to it, opening up his nostrils and letting out a powerful gust of air while he kept his mouth closed. The sound was almost like a bark and rather funny when he looked completely surprised at it. He wasn't expecting it to sound like that

Richard Harrison
Richard purred with encouragement. "There you go! Now try an eee sound." There appeared to be some potential there. Hard sounds like Ts might be immpossible but the kid could probably do vowels and soft sounds like Ls and Ks. Might take some practice.

Cody Archer
Cody tried to do as he was told, a bit overconfident because the Ees he did them all the time... or so he thought
When it came to actually do it the sound came mixed, sounding more like creeeeeeiickkkck than an eeee. It took him a few attempts until he got it right

Richard Harrison
"Well thats a start." She thumped the boy on the back. "Just add a s on that and you have a passable yes, then work on nnnn-ooooo. And work up from there. Think you can do that Cody?" She smiled at him urging him to continue.

Cody Archer
Cody nodded enthusiatically, finally understanding where these excercises were leading to. Perhaps there was a chance he would be able to talk again

With new fire he tried to pronouce the S. It was tricky because it either sounded completely different or it was too low to be properly heard. After some time he got something that sounded like Yieeeshh
The no was a lot easier since it resembled to the low clicks used in echolocation for wide area exploration. It still had some clicking attached, but Knooo was close enough

In both attempts he looked back at Richard, waiting for an approval

Richard Harrison
Richard watched the boy struggle with his alien vocal cords, smiling what she hoped was an encouraging smile, the fangs ruined the effect somewhat. "Good!" she purred at him. "Thats a start."

Then a wicked smile lit up her face and with a playful growl she pounced on Cody. She pinned his upper body to the sandy bank, angling herself so that Cody's tail couldn't reach her, only thrash and splash the water.

"Now," she purred, once she had him secured, "Tell me to let go." This wasn't exactly fair but she was curious to see how Cody did under pressure. "Or I might decide to see if you're ticklish." Her grin was huge and toothy.

Cody Archer
Cody was smiling back when he suddenly felt his back being pushed against the water and pinned against the bank. Because it was sand his dorsal fin sank into it. It saved him a good amount of pain, but it also kept him from being able to move his torso properly
He struggled and tried to fight the feline woman, but in that position he had little chance to escape. Even swishing his tail around didn't help

Because of his fighting a little bit of water came down his nose, which caused an immediate reaction to sneeze it out in a loud, powerful bark-like gust of air. And he had been glaring at Richard right before that happened, chirping angrily

Richard Harrison
Richard's tail lashed playfully behind her, not aware of the distress she was causing the boy. "What's that? I didn't understand that." Her smaller hands moved closer to his unprotected stomach. "Come on Cody I know you can say it, just think about the words."

Cody Archer
Cody breathed deeply and let go all the contents of his lungs in a protesting, but soundless manner
Because of the thick layer of blubber he wasn't as responsive to thicklish attacks, but then again he couldn't laugh anymore. He just tried not to twitch at the light contact of those small fingers on his belly

Breathing in again, he closed his eyes to get focus and concentrate on the words. Strangely he managed to get it at his first attempt, though the "Yieeeeetk Hoooo" still had quite some room to be perfected

Richard Harrison
"Excellent!" Richard exclaimed, pleased that her little game had succeed. She pulled Cody off the beach into a almost crushing embrace. Then she gave the youth a quick lick on the cheek before she released him back to the river. She beamed with pride, proud that her student was such a quick study. Swept up in this strange moment, her movements and posture had become even more cat like. She made no attempt to stand back on two legs. She sat with her legs folded under her, the front arms sharing the wieght of her body. It wasn't quite a natural position for her body but it felt natural to assume it as she watched Cody from the bank.

Cody Archer
If it wasn't for the strangeness of it all, Cody would have probably felt annoyed. The sandpaper like tongue was what surprised him the most, sending a shiver down his spine because of the weird texture
He didn't realise how strange it was for Richard to be behaving like an overgrown, mutated cat. His mind could barely recall his own humanity anymore

He tried to form 2 other words, but he struggled with some of the sounds, especially the T. But hopefully the "Hhaanckk Yiiehooo" was clear enough

Richard Harrison
Richard nodded, "Any time lad. If you need any more 'help' I'm often around this bend in the river. Give me a whistle."

Cody Archer
Cody beamed and gave the whistle, thinking it was a literal request. It felt a lot more natural to speak in this high pitched, bird like language

Richard Harrison
"Take care then. I'm going to go grab a bit to eat." She touseled Cody's hair one more time, then padded off toward her tree to collect her thing and head to the cafe. She didn't remember to stand until she was well out of sight.

Cody Archer
Cody whistled a goodbye and headed back towards the lake. He was more determined than ever to regain his speech back. Even if if meant months of practice

Cody Archer
Cody was half stranded on the sand, feeling dizzy as hell. Not too long ago he had stumbled on an interesting site, a large underwater pipe that came from the mountain side of the island. Of course the curious dolphin boy had to go investigate, but the water around that area was bad. It made his eyes sting and had a nasty taste
Because of that he didn't stay around long, but apparently it had been enough to upset his still adapting body. He had vomited the contents of his last hunt, which only helped to fog his senses and increase his disorientation
That's how he managed to get stuck on the beach, feeling like he was going to pass out because of the constant urge to expose the contents of his stomach and now the overheating his dark body was causing

Gaius Harper
Gaius strolled down the beach in one of his many outings, Vixen at his side. He'd let her off her leash this time, hoping she'd behave herself. As long as there wasn't any threat around...

So it was with exasperation that he watched Vixen bound off. The canine, having paused as they reached the beach, sensing an unusual, unhealthy smell connected with a person, made a run for the source immediately. She could tell something was wrong. Gaius ran after her as best he could manage, his spindly combination of legs and feet giving him an awkward time on the soft sand.

Vixen reached Cody long before Gaius, bounding into the shallows where the boy lay exposed, and sniffed at his wet hair and face, fur brushing slick skin. Her master stopped short up on the beach as he caught sight of the body and stared wide-eyed. While different, the sandy hair and tail were more than enough for Gaius to recognize that kid he'd played with ages ago. Oh hell, had he been attacked? Suffering something from his serum? Worst case scenarios ran through his head as the winged horse-man ran down into the water, pushing Vixen to the side just enough to be able to brush some hair from Cody's face and place a palm against his slender neck to try to check his pulse. Vixen, whining, licked at the dolphin-boy's hand in concern.

Relieved to find Cody was alive, at least, Gaius spoke up, his voice full of worry. "Cal-no, blast, what was his name... Corry? Cody! Cody, are you hurt? Cody!"

Cody Archer
Cody tried to shake away the licking sensation, half-awaken half-lightheaded from the heat. And when he felt something touching his face and neck he stirred even more, clicking and moaning in a sleepy annoyance

He tried to open his eyes, but the bright light reflected by the sand kept him from focusing straight. All he could see was a large shadow over him, but he didn't even have enough strength to move away. All he managed to do was raise his head enough to rest it on his hands, trying to rub the fogginess away

Gaius Harper
It didn't occur to Gaius that Cody, as a dolphin, must be in bad shape if he was lying up on the beach like he was. Vixen, however, having felt how hot to the touch the boy was and smelling the unhealth about him, took matters into her own paws. Splashing into the water the boy was partly lying in, she turned her back to the two and dug into the water and sand as if she were digging a hole. The resulting splashes splattered both Cody and Gaius with water and muddy sand, drenching them both.

"Gyah!" Gaius squawked in surprise, shielding his face with a hand. "Vixen! VIXEN! Stop that! Bad! Sto-" He spluttered, spitting out a wad of sand that'd just smacked him in the face, and rubbed it off his nose.

Cody Archer
Even sick as he felt, there was no way Cody could ignore the sudden bombardment of wet sand and water. It wasn't nearly enough to help him cool down, but it got him up and defensive, as he tried to cover his face with his arms to prevent any sand to get to his eyes
Unknowing he used his tail to try and send a wave back to the dog, while he cried out a screeched whistle in self-defense

Gaius Harper
Gaius's ears flattened back at the shrill sound that pierced them. It startled Vixen too, but she continued to splash them both. About to lose his temper, Gaius got one foot beneath himself to stand up, intending to wrestle the dog down, but his attention was caught by Cody's flailing. It was obvious the boy was having trouble on the sand. He was distressed, trying to protect himself, and hardly able to do so, especially with no legs. That long body had to be unmanageable on land...

It finally clicked in the horse-man's head, understanding what Vixen already knew needed to be done. "Hang on there, kid," he said, getting up and standing over Cody's back. "We'll get you situated again..." Bending down, he caught Cody under the armpits, trying to get a grip on the slippery skin with his hooves, and had to end up wrapping his arms around. The kid was heavier than a normal 10 year-old should be, with all that length of tail and blubber, but with a grunt and strain of back muscles, Gaius managed to left Cody's torso up off the sand enough to get him turned around with a little waddling on the horse-man's part. It was mostly a bunch of dragging, but he got Cody into the slightly deeper waters, at least enough for him to be able to drag himself out with a little arm-and-tail work.

Cody Archer
For a moment Cody struggled against the person who was holding him. mostly out of surprise and still blinded by the sand attack. But then he went limp and stopped resisting as he managed to calm himself down
Once in deeper waters he immediatly swam away, letting the water relieve him of the heat and stress. That helped him feel a lot better, though he still was nauseous

When he felt cool enough, he returned to where Gaius was standing. He smilled back and strggled to remember how to pronounciate the words
The "Kcaaaank Hooooou" still sounded distorced, since he no longer could use his lips and tongue to form the sounds. He still moved the mouth around, but it was out of habit

Gaius Harper
Gaius stepped back, taking a second to shake himself off as Cody splashed away, seeming to get some life back in him. The horse-man was completely drenched by then, his hair hanging limply and clumps of sand sliding down his front.

When the kid turned around and smiled, Gaius returned it with his own wide grin, but it faded as Cody spoke, his eyes growing worried. He tilted his head to the side, his ears standing forward, as if he wasn't sure he'd heard it right.

Vixen bounded out towards the dolphin-boy, dog-paddling. She wanted to make sure this new friend they'd just saved was alright and safe!

"You doing okay, Cody?" Gaius asked, wading out a little after Vixen. "How'd you get stuck up on the sand?"

Cody Archer
Cody got distracted as he saw Vixen approaching him. He always loved dogs and being stuck in water drastically reduced his chances to be around one. Besides his dolphin side liked it too, having a new companion to play with

While he kept petting Vixen, and keeping her afloat, he looked at Gaius and struggled to make himself understood. His vocabulary was still very poor and quite dolphin like

"Eeeellh ieeezsyyieh. Huuonyieeckeck. Yieenk ikc wuuosh kk yaahn huoockrrr ock kiee wiiieeckksshh"
(Felt dizzy. Vomited. Think it was the bad water of the pipes)

Gaius Harper
Gaius's expression likely did little to reassure the boy. His brows furrowed and mouth opened, looking utterly confused and, to a degree, horrified.

He'd not understood a word of that. Dear lord, they'd taken the poor boy's voice with the changes...

"Hold on, Cody," he said before Cody could speak up again, holding up a staying hand. "I can't understand you. Can you repeat that? Slooowly."

As he spoke, he sat down in the water, to get on a closer level with the kid, and hopefully to try to lip-read to get what he was saying. Vixen, in the meantime, was having a grand time with the attention.

Cody Archer
Cody sighed and let out a low dolphin bark by accident. He wasn't surprised at Gaius reaction, he already knew from his encounter with Sophie, Oz and Richard that his voice was completely lost

He tried to say it again, slower, but because the sound was now formed by his new "vocal cords" behind his nose, it did little good to the horse-man to try lip read. The boy's mouth still moved, but it didn't really match what he saying

"Iyeei sshaeiih yii yhieenck ekc wshh kck yaahg wouakehr ock keh khiickeeshh kak myiieak yiee yieeelllh shhieeek"
(I said I think it was the bad water of the pipes that made me feel sick)

Gaius Harper
Gaius rubbed his forehead. This was going to be harder than he thought... "Alright... I think I got a couple words in there... You think... something about water? And sick? Are those connected? Some kind of water made you sick?" He looked at Cody, hoping for some kind of confirmation.

Cody Archer
Cody nodded and smilled a toothy grin, happy part of the message made through

But it soon faded as a new wave of nausea invaded him. It was clear by his face and the sounds he was producing (the only ones that were actually coming from his mouth) he was trying contain a new wave of vomit
But sadly he didn't manage. His body purged itself from whatever nasty stuff he had accidentally consumed, sending forth the few remains of food that were still inside

He tried to grab Gaius to keep himself steady, feeling sick because of the taste and the smell of the stomach acids. He felt like he was going to die right there

Gaius Harper
The horse-man grimaced, his nose wrinkling up as the overly-fishy smell assaulted his sensitive equine nose. Putting a hand on Cody's grip to keep him steady, he backed them away a bit from the mess. At least it was there in the ocean, the water'd wash Cody off easily enough. Vixen seemed to dislike the regurgitated mess just as much as the other two, barely giving it a sniff before she flattened her ears back and paddled away along with them.

Gaius looked back down at Cody, obviously worried about the boy's well-being after that display. "Hey, you okay? Is it some kind of poison? Do you need medical attention?" he asked, glancing over the kid for any other signs of injury. "What did this to you, anyway?"

Cody Archer
It took a while before Cody even attempted to say anything. Not that he needed his mouth to do it, but when one feels nauseous there's little room for anything else. That's why he ended up disoriented in the first place

"Knoook Knoohu. Wuuukeeirr yiesk kheiask yeerrhyi waahg. Yiieevwan yiieagh yiiie yeiiiyshh kkiieeeng"
(Don't know. Water just taste really bad. Even made my eyes sting)

Gaius Harper
Trying to understand the dolphin-boy was definitely an exercise in patience. He frowned, concentrating hard on the sounds of Cody's speech.

"So wait, this water that made you sick... what was wrong with it? Was it out here, in the ocean?" he asked, waving a hoof at the beach around them. If there was some kind of oil spill or other problem, he'd need to alert the others...

Cody Archer
Feeling a bit more recovered Cody shook his head negatively. He pointed towards the location of the pipes, about 100m away from the mountain side of the island, where the labs were firmly built. There was nothing there to see from the surface, but he remembered well where it was built
Besides the horrible water there were sounds that kind of reminded him of a factory. Dolphin hearing was exceptionally strong underwater, where sound travelled a lot easier than through air, but the noise he had heard was vague and muffled, coming from the pipes like they were a great distance away

Cody made his way towards the shore and started building a sand pile. It had worked before, writting things on the mud to make himself understood. But here the surf would destroy his writting before he had a chance to write down everything
When it was high enough he wrote down the word he had been trying to say "Pipes"

Gaius Harper
Gaius followed Cody's pointing, looking down the beach and aways past towards the mountains. He could catch a glimpse of the labs up on the mountainside, behind the trees. "The... labs? Is that what you're pointing out? Or something in the water...?"

He followed Cody into shore, taking the chance to step out of the water, and watched the boy work. He wasn't sure what the point of playing in the sand was, not until he read the word.

"Pipes?" he read, eyebrows rising. "The sick water... came from pipes?" He looked at Cody, hoping his guess was accurate.

Cody Archer
Cody nodded, happy the message had gotten through
He then pointed to the sea again, where the pipes were located. That's where he found the sick water and that's what likely got him sick. He didn't made the connection the pipes came from the labs though

Gaius Harper
Gaius looked out again, at the water Cody was pointing at. "That's where the pipes are?" he asked, glancing at the kid. "Are they underwater?"

His eyes darted back up to the mountainside and the glaring smooth windows of the labs. That... that must be what the pipes were connected to. Probably waste disposal, if his architecture knowledge told him anything. Dumping into the ocean was the only option on an island... but it made Gaius grimace that they wouldn't think to use some kind of processing plant to clean the water before it was dumped. But then, this was Moreau, after all... He didn't much care about anything but himself.

One of the horse's ears flicked back, shedding a bit of water, as a thought struck him. "Hey Cody..." he said, looking back at his young friend, "Are the pipes open? No grills? And, about how big are they? Can you show me with your arms?"

Cody Archer
Cody nodded again, grinning hapilly in that sharp toothy grin of his. But when he was asked more details about the pipes he stopped, pondering
He hadn't approach them too much because how unconfortable the water coming from it was to his eyes and to his skin. But he did remember seeing a grill over it

He opened up his arms as far as he could to give an idea of the size of the pipe. It was big enough for a man to be in, or at least that's what it seemed to the kid
As for the grill he simply nodded and drew a square with his fingers. It was a standart size, not tight enough to prevent the fish in, but then again none would enter while that nasty stuff came out of it. It was hard to evaluate how thick was because of the stubborn algae that grew around it

Gaius Harper
"Heh, a bit like charades," Gaius chuckled as Cody grinned.

He frowned a bit at the affirmation of grills, rubbing his beard, but brightened as Cody stretched his arms out wide. He wasn't sure it'd be wide enough for someone bulky like himself to fit inside, but he wasn't made for the water anyways...

Still, it gave him pleeeenty of ideas.

"About how deep is it underwater, Cody? Can you write the number of feet in the sand?" he asked, shifting his seating eagerly.

Cody Archer
Cody literally scratched his head at that one. He was bad at calculating distances and he didn't exactly find that place by diving in a straight line. To him it wasn't really that deep, but then again he was a quick swimmer and a fast diver

He wrote down "100", but that didn't meant it was the right value. Then again the tides made that number change anyway

Gaius Harper
Gaius let out a sigh, rubbing the side of his wide neck. "Erf, that's deep... You're a good diver, I gotta say." He flashed Cody a smile and reached over to ruffle the kid's wet hair.

"Hm... Interesting, really interesting..." He glanced up the beach at the jungle, wondering if the cameras could hear them all the way out there. He hoped not. This was important information. Turning back to Cody, he smiled again. "Listen, don't tell anyone else you told me about this... It's probably nothing, but I'd like it to stay a secret, okay?"

Cody Archer
Cody couldn't help to feel proud. Not because it was a "gift" from the serum, but because he was praised for being able to do something an adult felt hard doing

He looked at Gaius and nodded. He didn't know why he wanted to keep it a secret, nor he realised how really important this was, but if he was being asked then he would do it

Gaius Harper
"You're a good kid, Cody," Gaius said, standing up. His smile faded a bit as he looked down at the dolphin-boy. "Are you going to be alright? Do you need me to get some medicine or anything?"

Cody Archer
It seemed like all Cody could do was nod lately. Yeah, he should be fine as long as he had something to eat and then some rest. The nausea was still there but it wasn't as strong, so the kid was pretty sure he'd be alright soon
He moved back into deeper waters and waved a goodbye, whistling before he dived. Next stop, food

Gaius Harper
Gaius waved the kid off, whistling Vixen back from following him. Both of them shook off as they went back up the beach. Gaius hummed a cheery little tune to himself as he wrung out his mane, grinning.

Perhaps... perhaps luck was on their side...
