heheh...i had to trade valves with my section leader's cuz he dropped his while oiling and it wouldn't work, and he had a solo so i couldn't play the show...boo hoo... crying

last week my best friend who plays alto sax stole my main tuning slide!!!! xd blaugh (cause i stole her reeds... sweatdrop 3nodding )

I got mine in July! A Conn 8D! really pretty and I named it.  Mellos and Baritones w/ our hot cocoa.....mellos are so pretty.

The Mellophonist I got mine in July! A Conn 8D! really pretty and I named it.  Mellos and Baritones w/ our hot cocoa.....mellos are so pretty. What did you name it?

I'm kinda new to the French Horn section, since when I began, I was an aide for the beginning band and I played the Horn because they didn't have one ( crying poor them). His year, my director wanted me to play Horn so we wouldn't end up with two Horns and eight trumpets in our top band. It's kinda difficult considering it's a very different key.

If I can be honest...I don't Mellophones at all...they sound horrible. I much Prefer to March with My French Horn.

fuzzdomestic I play te horn and I love it. I'm not sure if I really want to do marching band in highschool if I'm going to have to play mellophone. One of the girls in my pointe class plays one, and she says it's the most annoying instrament she's ever heard. I'm technically the section leader right now, but competion's all of one other girl. It's not like it really matters anyway, for the moment it just means I have my pick of top or bottom line on split peices. I wish I could play something that roughly resembles melody. I'm stuck with harmony most of the time, which means I get to play the downbeat on marches. Woo... it is the most annoying piece of s*** you will ever play, but it is the loudest thing you could ever play, just listen to me ^^.

Fufuki If I can be honest...I don't Mellophones at all...they sound horrible. I much Prefer to March with My French Horn. *goes to you and hugs you* I wish i could do that also, but my band director doesn't think it would work. My horn is a silver conn, and its really shiny. i think that he thinks that i will mess up at some point... stare i don't like the way he thinks some times...

Personally, I think they sound better than horns... maybe I just like actually being able to be heard over the trumpets.

I didn't name my mello, because I'm going to wait until Christmas when I actually get my own. I named my plume though. His name is Bob Vanderheidgt. don't ask about his name, it was the first thing to pop in my head when I got him.
