Ooh, excellent scan...looks like Akabane is enjoying himself really...but then he -is- a sociopath and as I'm not one it's hard to know for sure.
I'm gonna stick with my opinion of him being not dead - cause well I don't really like the idea of meeting your full potential equalling your death. It seems - well silly.
But then I -rarely- ever like the ending of anime or manga alike - both of them always seem to be suddenly poofed and leave you wondering what is going on. In the majority of manga/anime I've read/seen this is the case so I tend to go with what I like the best wink Makes me keep liking it more than the alternative.

I remember that part where Akabane said he can't die. chapter 84
The battle between two demons continue but Ban still has some secrets...
After a smoke break the fighting ensues at a even greater level of ferocity's that stuns even Paul. The two are becoming more and more "serious" but Akabane can not die unless he can picture his own death, and Ban is beginning to flail. Akabane's words have reminded Ban of his mother's harsh words about him being and inhuman demon. These memories have begun to break Ban's stature and he is failing as Akabane removes his bloody lance for the next attack.
Akabane full potential shown...he's really strong.

Ban was completely losing that battle but Ginji kinda revive Ban and reveal his power then Akabane also reveal his true potential that out match Ban...then they deliver the final blow.
Akabane said at the end of Ch. 89 that he didn't let Ban live, but that he killed him because it would have been a shame to let his existence vanish from the world and that Akabane was grateful to Ban for showing him the true limits of his power. Supposedly, if he had completely disappeared, Ginji could not have recalled him in order to bring him back.
Akabane turns out to have some "goodness" huh?? I´m shocked.....

Akabane is one of my favorite getbacker no..anime characters. yes because of his obssesion to fight the strongest and his hunger for blood. I enjoy watching getbackers everytime Akabane fights.

Akabane is a joy... he's just so sadistic yet so funny and cynical..... he's not just a villain like most sadists... he's more than that mrgreen ... he honestly cares for the safety of his worthy adversaries (ginji mostly)

I agree sometimes you don't know if Akabane is serious or not and he's even playing games with his rivals by choosing only to fight them if they also fight seriously, Akabane also fights for entertainment. jackal is such an unpredictable guy.

She annoys everyone else... and in the last fight just walks up to him and asks...... I wanna see an episode when Akabane saves her from someone... It'd be nice if she was reoccuring... or even just became Natsume's friend or something
