sad so you don't take karate? Sparring is kind of like a battle, but it really is quite safe- at the least the usual people I spar are very nice and don't hit back hard, if at all. xp And you are in padding/armor/whatever you want to call it xd
xd nice dark! I can see that now- Zonko chasing somebody around with a bouquet of flowers...
okay, not really- need a picture to picture that blaugh

(parents didn't pay for it, bleh) My 1st boyfriend teaches karate though. He'll still spar with me when I poke at him enough. THough my skills have atrophied tremendously.

DarkHalcyon ZonkotheSane ....says the martial arts advocate besides, you'd be surprised at the amount of damage one can inflict with a bouquet. You chase people around with flowers, too? heart ambush, actually.

It's like a Japanese version of Kung Fu, but a bit more practical and less showy. It's badass. Mostly hand-to-hand. I learned some knife-fighting though heart

fave weapons?
range: hankyu
general: quarterstaff/spear (japanese style, i forget the name. it's more like a really long sword with a short blade. and yes, nothing would please me more than to grow a beard and start hitting orcs off 500 ft walls)
melee: twin wakazashi

oo nice choices!!
lesse.... I'll go with a simple basic long bow for range, but that's a bit biased because it's the one I'm best at sweatdrop
general....ooo that's a hard one...either twin short swords, a staff, or a long sword. If no weapons, then just hand to hand: weapons are a bit slower then pure hand to hand combat, as it's not often you face off against somebody with the same weapon as you. (and I think you mean glaive, but I'm not 100% sure)
Melee: Again, nice choice!! Mine would probably be hand to hand, and I've always wanted to try a broadsword, but I don't think I would like it as much- not as fast or graceful.
Wow....I sounded pretty silly there...heh...*goes and hides before people get freaked out* sweatdrop

Heh. Knives all the way. Either for throwing, or the way I was taught, I can still do some hand-to hand.
Also, knives are easier to hide. *pets her trusty butterfly* No one ever searches your boots for weapons.

Eh, the dumbest reason of all. My friends were doing it.. >.>
Seriously, my two best friends at the time, and the dude who later became my boyfriend all studied at the same school, and their sensei was amazing and I wanted to try it out for myself. Unfortunately, since Boy and I started dating, i couldn't train with him, so I picked a different school that was close to home, and roped another one of my friends into joining.
One of the best experiences of my life, and it was the hardest thing to have to quit.
