Quote: then why didn't they just have a game for the former Fire Hero? the fire hero's story is more of a background story for s3... kinda like Ferid and Arshtat's story for s5 (the armes invasion 8 years ago), Genkaku's story in s2 and Succession war in the scarlet moon empire in s1. it happened, though we didn't see it happen -- to support the story of the current suikoden. it would've been a nice idea to have the fire hero's story for s3 but in my opinion, the developers wanted to expand the player's control over the story thus creating the character POV system where you can play the 5 main characters... 6 if you include koroku. i don't think it went well though since they reverted back to one hero system (s4) and finally back to the near original state (s5) which i prefer anyway.

Yeah, that's one of the many reason why I love the 5th one. They had a winnig formula alredy and they tried too much to change it. At least whit the last one it's back to the original one and I love the formations^^ Tough now, I wonder why they had the S, M, L for the weapon since Jeane who had a S could attac when beind in the totaly back of my tiger formation...

i was wondering about that too. they took away the weapon-position limit i suppose...
i wish they developed the story of Nether Gate even further though. It would've been interesting to put them down -- or are they planning to put them in the next suikoden? heh.

I'm gald that they went back to the original formations. The three party and five main chars were not a big hit for me at all.

same here. i really didn't like playing as geddoe, thomas and luc -- but walking around as koroku was fun.
4-member party just didn't feel right for a game with more than 50 playable characters (50 because not all 108 SoDs are playable in the field).

chibi_viki Quote: Ha! That's what I think! He and Miakis flirted a bit, and Roog gets all nervous when talking about her. It's so adorable... hey, maybe miakis is the real reason why roog decided to establish the Sun Palace Dragon Brigade in the end. Since Miakis can't leave Lym's side, then Roog will just have to go where she is, eh? Oh, of course. I think I might start writing a one-shot fan fic with the two of them getting together. Oh well, I might as well make a story and make certain characters fall for each other in each one-shot chapter. I have a bunch from every Suikoden.

You guys know that S stood for short-ranged, and M stood for middle-ranged and so forth.. o.o;;
But yeah, the battle system for V was great - it should've stayed that way from the II. Why the creators messed around with III's and IV's I'll never know.

Why the creators messed around with III's and IV's I'll never know. They just wanted to experiment a little bit. But I agree. The six party battle system is always the best. I especially love the different formations you could have in Suikoden V. This game is my second favorite. Suikdoen II shall always remain my favorite. ^^ Though, I have to say that Suikoden V's endings were so much more enjoyable than the second one.

True that. Now I wonder if there'll ever be one that is better than II? Lol. I'd like to see that happen!

-MaHiRu-Kyo- True that. Now I wonder if there'll ever be one that is better than II? Lol. I'd like to see that happen! That would be very difficult to creat since I read a review on Suikoden II before and it said that it was one of the greatest RPGs that year. The person who wrote the review said the graphics and art was better than the first along with the storyline and so on. I would love to see Konami try to top Suikoden II.

Perhaps..I heard that Suikoden V will be the last Suikoden game to be released on PS2, most likely VI will be on PS3 (ugh, now we all have to fork over even more money).
Anyone remember that embryo-like tire-rims monster in the Sindar Ruins really strange? I think that's one of the most unusual monsters I've encountered in V.
