May 2018 Academy: Creative Writing Freshling 1. Student randomizes between 1 and 26. The number rolled is the letter they get (In relation to the alphabet!) 2. Student thinks of a word beginning with the letter, and another word that rhymes with it. 3. No RP response needed, but is a bonus! 4. ??? Profit!
Username: Sesshy552 Student Name: Momoko
Number Rolled: 26 - Z
Word Chosen: Zoom It rhymes with!: Boom
RP Response: Momoko stared down at the letter on his page, the dread in his stomach growing with each second that ticked by on the clock. Of all the letter he could have gotten, of course it would be Z.. He couldn't get an easy one like A, or M. He liked M.. There were so many words for M. Math, mat, marble, Momo. Drawing in a deep breath he tapped his pencil of the desk as he tried desperately to think of something, anything. But he was drawing a complete blank. Until he heard someone running down the hall and had a sort of ah-hah moment and hastily scribbled down his words on the line.

Username: Nashawryn Student Name: Habushu
Number Rolled: 23, W
Word Chosen: Wink It rhymes with!: Blink
RP Response: Habushu bounced in his seat, this was an exciting assignment for him. He loved writing, though he loved art just as much. He was always flip flopping back and forth between wanting to be an artist or a writer. Either one sounded very fun to him. He quickly picked wink as his w word (since w was the letter he’d gotten) and decided the perfect rhyme to wink had to be blink! Easy as could be, he was finished with his work. “All done!”

Username: Nashawryn Student Name: Ari
Number Rolled: 24, X
Word Chosen: Xylan It rhymes with!: Eilean
RP Response: Ari stared at their letter in frustrated silence. X. They got x. Of all the letters in the alphabet, they got one of the hardest. What the heck were they supposed to do now? They sighed, knowing they’d have to look in their dictionary for a good word and then go from there for a rhyme. Stupid letter x.

Username: Nashawryn Student Name: Sylkie Von
Number Rolled: 24, X
Word Chosen: xylophone It rhymes with!: dethrone
RP Response: Sylkie glared at her paper. X. A freakin x. What were the odds that’d she’d get, out of all the letters, one of the two hardest ones possible?! She huffed and reached for a dictionary, she was going to need help picking a word that started with x. Almost right away she latched onto an easy word to rhyme. Writing down what she’d picked and the rhyme she thought of for it was highly satisfying to her. She gave a small smug grin as she set her pencil down.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Cyril
Number Rolled: 10, J
Word Chosen: Journal It rhymes with!: Diurnal
RP Response: A-A J? That wasn't that bad. Cyril knew lots of words that started with J. . . .He just. . .couldn't think of any right this moment. He fiddled with his paper, picking it up to check it, making sure it did indeed say J on it. What started with J? Jump? That started with J. . but what rhymed with jump? Looking around the room in the hope that something would jump out at him, he noticed a fellow classmate's journal. That could work. Immediately he started thinking of words that rhymed with journal. Annual? No. Biurnal? No that wasn't even a word. But. . Diurnal was. And that rhymed with journal! Pleased that he'd been able to think of something suitable, he scribbled down his words and got up to turn them in. When he sat back down, he sighed in relief. That wasn't that hard and the day was almost over. He just had one class left and then he was free to go hole back up in his room if he wanted.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Elliah
Number Rolled: 15, O
Word Chosen: One It rhymes with!: Done
RP Response: O? O? Elliah twirled her pencil around in her hand. This would be a breeze. There were so many O words that she knew and could use. Outstanding. Ovation. Observe. Obliging. The list was endless. What would be the PERFECT word to use though? Something that was easy to rhyme with. Hmmm. ..Elliah hummed under her breath, ignoring the dirty looks from her classmates that the noise got her. "Oh! Of COURSE!" she exclaimed, writing down her chosen word and its rhyme with easy. Bouncing out of her seat, she strode to the front of the room to turn the paper in with a superior look to all of those who weren't done yet. One and done! Since this was the last class she needed to take, she was so so so glad it was the easiest. Beaming a smile at Echo, she set the paper on her desk and went right back to her seat. She'd be in senior classes before she knew it!

Word Chosen: Van It rhymes with!: Ran, man, can, fan, ban
RP Response:
Meadow sat at her desk, listening to her teacher talking about rhymes. Her papa had already taught her a little about them so this wasn't something knew to her. She tapped her claw against her chin as she was asked to come up with a word and then find a word that rhymed with it. "Van" She said out loud. "Ban, can, ran, man, fan, pan, and tan all rhyme." She declared, feeling mighty proud of herself.

Word Chosen: Kale It rhymes with!: Pale, bale, bail, fail, mail, scale, whale, veil
RP Response:
Saffron listened curiously as Echo taught the class about rhymes. They sounded interesting. She tried to think of words that would rhyme with Kale... because kale was the only thing that came to her mind... her dad tried so hard to make her eat that nasty stuff. "Kale.... pale, bale... bail, fail, mail, scale.. and whale and veil all rhyme.... right?" She asked, not sure if she quite understood.

Number Rolled: 1, A
Word Chosen: Aye It rhymes with!: Pie, sigh, die, my
RP Response:
Quentin was fairly surprised that today's assignment was fairly simple. He couldn't complain though since he was pretty exhausted from his other classes. On his paper, he tapped his pencil slightly on the desk as he looked at his assigned letter.... A. Should be simple right? Thinking for a moment longer, he wrote Aye down for his word then a couple other words that he thought rhymed... like Pie, die, sigh, my, lie and dry. He then turned in his assignment and started working on his other homework.

Number Rolled: 25, Y
Word Chosen: Yes It rhymes with!: Mess, stress, press
RP Response:
Wade stretched at his desk, listening idly to his instructor. He was tired today, way too tired for school but his mom reminded him that he is a role model for the younger kids in their house so... here he was, half dead in class. Once he was assigned his letter, he stared at it. Y. Really? Wade sighed some, writing down the word Yes and going from there. Rhymes for yes were mess, stress, guess, and press. Those would do, he then handed in his paper and worked on homework... maybe if he finished his homework before he got home then he could sleep! Yes!

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Red
Number Rolled: 12, L
Word Chosen: Lame It rhymes with!: fame, rain, shame, same
RP Response: Red rolled his eyes. This whole assignment was lame. And since that started with L he was gonna use that to complete this. He scribbled in a couple suggestions for the actual assignment, then he continued to write a couple more about how this assignment was lame and why couldn't they have done something much more fun instead? It wasn't like this was science where they would learn about cool things, or PE where they could run around, but it didn't have to be so lame. Tail swishing, he took his paper and walked it up to the teacher. After she pointed out that he needed his name on it, he rolled his eyes and wrote it on there too. It wasn't like she didn't know which paper was his.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Kanda
Number Rolled: 9, I
Word Chosen: I It rhymes with!: Sigh, eye, bye, why, shy
RP Response: Kanda, after many moments of trying to think of a word that started with I, decided that I was also a word. After all, she used it in sentences all the time! And, there were so many words that rhymed with it. Twin tails wagging with glee, she started to write some down. She got to about four when she remembered that the teacher had asked for only one word that it rhymed with. Tails curling under her, she almost asked if she should scribble out the extra words. But then again, maybe the teacher would like having more than just the one word? After all, she was just trying to make sure they got the lesson. Biting her lip a few times, Kanda decided to leave it. She wrote her name as neatly as she could at the top and then bounded out of her chair to bring it to the teacher to turn in. With a bright smile, she offered up the paper and bounced back to her seat when it had been accepted.

Username: Porcelain Pinch Student Name: Jane
Number Rolled: 2
Word Chosen: Boulder It rhymes with!: Holder, shoulder, colder, folder.
RP Response: Usually Jane didn't like language arts. There were too many words on the paper, it was too much too read. Too hard. She needed something simple. Like rocks. Rocks were easy peasy.
But maybe...Maybe language arts wasn't so bad.
B. The letter B....What starts with B....
Boulder! Rhyming had been easy. Luckily, she didn't have to spell the words. Spelling..was another short coming. Talking? She could do that. "Holder. Her dad sometimes said that. " Shoulder." An unusual smile graced her lips. Resting her head on her friend's shoulder was always so calming. "Colder." She frowned. Jane hated cold weather. That frown soon faded however at the next thought. "Folder!" Hers was covered with all sorts of different rocks.
This rhyming thing...it wasn't too hard!

Number Rolled: 22
Word Chosen: Valid It rhymes with!: salad, ballad,
RP Response: Magdalene wasn't sure what to make of her letter. Without the help of a kind caregiver, she would have been lost. Vermin was on her mind but that couldn't rhyme with learnin'? They were out of their minds. Of course it did!
It wasn't nice to argue with adults though. At least, that's what Ma and Pa said. So she bit her tongue. Took the word and went with salad and ballad. Adults do know best.

Username: Aria Starstone Student Name: Tirishi
Number Rolled: 23 - W
Word Chosen: Wake It rhymes with!: Cake, Fake, Break, Steak!
RP Response:
Tirishi looked at the instructions. He had to come up with a word that began with the letter he had been given, and words that rhymed with it. He peeked at his letter. The W... What word would he want? Why, many words were available that would involve the letter W! He considered for a long moment, then yawned, thinking about how he had to wake up sooooo early, and he wished he didn't have to... Oh wait! The word Wake was a word that started with W! Wake! He could do that! He could even make a sentence with words that rhymed!
He set his pen in his hand and wrote down his choice, and four words that rhymed with it... And then to show he understood some of it, he wrote the following sentence: "When I wake, I make a break for the kitchen, where I eat steak, but no fake eggs and definitely not cake!"
