Student name: Juro
Prompt: Swimming laps - 11
Response:
Juro didn't mind the idea of going swimming. He'd made sure to get his swim trunks out of his drawer and pack them for his next day at school. The entire class had been warned ahead of time last P.E session that they would all be doing swimming exercises. Juro liked the water, in fact, he rather enjoyed it. Natasha often times drug him off on beach trips. He wasn't nearly as good at it as she was, however, he was a confident swimmer. If anything it would be a fun way to spend his time, rather than chasing around a soccer ball or some other laborious activity. For what it was worth, he would come up with the idea of pushing himself to get better at swimming. With knowing how much his best friend enjoyed swimming, the Hybrid junior felt like it couldn't hurt to hone his own skillset.

Passing by the class of Freshlings taking lessons, Juro couldn't help the faint smile on his face. His swim trunks were space theme and looked like the cosmos across the knee length bottoms. His long tail twitched behind him as he considered if he wanted to go to the opposite end and perhaps dive in before starting his laps? Humming thoughtfully, he padded around the edge of the pool, moving at his leisure as he was not in a particular hurry like some of his fellow classmates. He passed by the Freshlings who were all learning the basic essentials of how to swim. He remembered not all that long ago, he had been just as small..and nervous about submerging himself in the depths of the pool. Juro couldn't help the amused expression on the teen's face as he went back to minding his own business.

Finally coming around to where the diving board was located, he climbed up on it without another thought. Well, other than being lost in thought perhaps. While he was doing this by himself, it wasn't so bad. He was curious if Natasha had already had shown off her talent for swimming. He could imagine so, she wasn't exactly the most modest of sorts. Bemused, the hybrid boy walked to the edge of the diving board. Inhaling slowly, he took a deep breath before bouncing once..twice...and a third time as he pushed himself forward. Landing on the surface of the water with a load splash the feeling of the cool waters stole his breath. He came up smoothly to the surface as he began to move forward.

Juro's swimming was deliberate and controlled as he began to do his laps. Back and forth the boy went, counting each one as he touched from one end to the next. Determined, he kept going until his arms felt like they were on fire. 11 laps weren't too bad! He felt a swell of pride as he climbed out of the pool and gave his body a slight shake as he ruffled a hand in his hair. He realized he'd forgotten his towel in the locker room. It would be easy enough to go get it, but the fact he'd forgotten made him chuckle as he padded across the pool to head to grab the said towel.

Student name: Cerise
Prompt: Swimming laps - 7
Response:

Cerise's eyes widened in a curious fashion when their coach mentioned it was finally swimming season again. An excited grin crossed the popular Fallen girl's lips. Her wings rustled, as she began to contemplate what sort of swimsuit she'd bring. It had to be appropriate of course, but she knew she had a really cute one piece that looked great on her so that would likely be the winner of her choices. The two-piece was a bit too revealing, and she didn't want to push her luck with being sent home over a silly swimsuit. Smiling warmly she entered the gym, towel slung over her shoulder. This was going to be interesting, her wings made it a little bit harder than some to easily swim, but she had learned how to adapt to them at an early age. If she kept them tucked in tightly she could manage. Her flipflops lightly thudded against the ground as she walked towards the locker room to go put her stuff away. Brushing her hair up, she made sure to clip it back to keep it out of her way, before putting it in a messy bun. Once that was done, she slipped her flipflops inside the locker, along with her bag and phone.

Grabbing her towel, she unzipped the hooded swimsuit cover to reveal her two-piece bathing suit. She loved the fact it had crowns all over it. She eased the hood up over her head, deciding to walk out to the pool in style. She took her towel with, tucking it under her arm as she went to go do some laps per today's lesson plan. Placing her stuff down, she removed the outer swim cover, draping it alongside her towel. Scanning the area, she didn't immediately see anyone she recognized. Which really was fine, she could get to swimming and see how well she faired. It had been a little while since she last swam, but it wasn't an issue.

Keeping her wings close, she eased herself into the water. The temperature made her giggle a little, shivering as she waded into a deeper part of the pool. Finally needing to tread water, the Fallen began to make her laps, moving from one end of the pool to the other. While it was slow going, she did not stop immediately. After 7 laps, Cerise finally had to admit she was feeling like she was hitting a wall. Moving to the edge of the pool, she climbed up the short ladder to settle herself right at the edge of the water. Exhaling in a relaxed sigh, she dipped her feet into the water. Deciding to relax for a bit, she was proud of what she had managed to do. It wasn't like she was the number one best swimmer, but she still felt accomplished.

Stretching her wings out, Cerise wondered if maybe she should hit the pool again for a little bit? She did know she'd have to rinse her hair out after she was done, all the chlorine wasn't good for it, or her feathers...but this water she imagined was treated specially to cater to all the different races. Smiling thoughtfully she lazily moved her legs in the water, enjoying the cool feeling.

Student name: Devorah
Prompt: Swimming lessons
Response:

Devorah's tail was wagging excitedly. Her new family was really nice to her..she even got to pick out a new bathing suit! She had decided to pick one to match her favorite sweater. The little Grimm girl was pleased she was going to get to swim! Although putting on floaties for her was super boring, as it took forever to get them safely over her clawed paws. She was willing to be a daredevil and sink or swim..but her swimming teacher had other ideas in mind. Pouting slightly she waved her arms, noting the way the puffed up floaties felt on her fur was kind of weird. Was this really necessary? She could have doggie paddled just fine...she wasn't worried about drowning. Deciding instead of fussing about it, the usually quiet, analytical Grimm decided to focus on the fact she got to do something fun today in P.E. She couldn't exactly hide the way her tail kept picking up speed and rapidly swaying from side to side...playing in the water was always tons of fun.

Moving after the other Freshlings, she quietly walked into the water. Devorah caste a searching glance at the pool she was now walking into. She had of course taken baths before, but this was very different. She liked the way her body felt lighter, it made the Grimm shiver as she beamed brightly from joy. In truth, she wasn't the best swimmer, so learning how from the teacher was likely for the best. Moving near the front, she mimicked the others movements until she felt like she too, had the hang of the basic art of treading water. After a little more instruction, between her own instinct, and the floaties, it was time to try her luck with actually moving around in the deeper water. Whatever happened, it wasn't like there weren't others around her that could assist if something went wrong. Devorah had a new sibling, and two Kumiho daddy's, and a Grimm momma.

Devorah let out an excited cry as she was able to keep her head above water as she paddled out deeper than her toes could touch to the bottom of the pool. "Look!! I can do it!" She seemed proud, the usually quiet child was smiling. Playing in the water was a lot of fun, she couldn't help it. Moving to keep up her swimming, she swam a little more before deciding to take a risk and cross the entire pool to do a whole lap. Kicking her little feet, she trooped onward until at last her clawed paw touched the end of the pool. Feeling like she'd just proven she was more than capable, Devorah began to swim back.

Holding her head high, the quiet little girl climbed out as she gave herself a shake off, sending water flying from her fluffy neck ruffle. The golden yellow Grimm smiled thoughtfully as she went back to watch the teacher to see what other tips and advise she could pick up from them. She enjoyed learning and analyzing things..this was no different, she had merely tried applying her lessons into action. The result, was, of course, she was having a blast.

Student name: Kaia
Prompt: Swimming lessons
Response:
Kaia was extremely thrilled about getting to go swimming! She couldn't stop talking about it, as all her young siblings also had this activity up and coming in common. Racing about, the energetic perky child couldn't wait to get to school that day. Kaia had raced around the house, making sure everyone was up and ready. It was time to get going!! Who wanted to sleep when you got to go swimming at school? Yawning she rushed into the kitchen, wildly getting bowls out after climbing up on the foot ladder. She plunked down everyone's favorite bowl and spoon as she had this memorized by heart and poured cereal. Everyone else could do their own milk. As she chomped down on her breakfast, she quickly darted off once done to go put her bathing suit on underneath her normal clothes. Once her family was finally up and moving, they actually got to get going. Kaia really didn't like sitting still, it drove her crazy. Luckily she didn't have to wait too long, alarms began to go off shortly after her wakeup call.

Proud that she had been one of the first to be awake, Kaia stretched lazily as she restlessly moved about the house in a half awake, half alert state.

After saying goodbye, and hugging her parents and siblings, Kaia raced off to the locker room. She couldn't wait to get in the pool! She hadn't wanted to hold still for the floaties to be applied, she whined at Drisden, but a quick look from Callahan told Kaia there was no room for argument. Lir had tried to settle it by buying a better-suited product for species that had such sharp claws. Kaia loved her two daddies and momma. They had awakened hers, and her sibling's stones around the time they also adopted Kahlua, Amon and Tabitha...it was a big family.

Kaia's tail wagged enthusiastically as she hastily peeled off her regular school clothes as she was already ready to go in her bathing suit. While she had been somewhat tired when first waking up, she was now filled with energy and excitement. Dashing into the water, she splashed around, playing as she bounced around in the water. When asked to settle down she pouted slightly but reluctantly agreed. Watching the teacher, she looked fascinated as she practiced the basics of swimming. Water was so awesome! Although the pool smelled a little funny, and there was a lot of random faces she didn't know...Kaia was not bothered. In fact, she thrived off the energy the room had to it.

After listening as patiently as she could tolerate, Kaia was ready to try her own luck at applying what she had learned. Trotting through the water, she felt it swirl around her. The Grimm child's small body bobbed and weaved with the motion of the pool. Deciding to dive into it, she splashed about, giggling with childish delight. It felt good to really be swimming all on her own. She couldn't wait to tell her parents and siblings how quickly she'd gotten swimming down! Kicking their arms and legs, Kaia explored the pool, delighted to be able to spend some of her excess energy in such a fun manner.

Student name: Jess
Prompt: Swimming lessons
Response: If Jess had an way to not take swimming lessons she would have taken them. As it was, she was unhappily wearing a cute two piece, a pair of orange shorts and an orange tank top of water proof material and eyeing the pool as if it had personaly offended her.

It was wet and it smelled like chemicals and she was covered in short downy fur so it really was. She was going to stink for the longest time before she could get a good bath and wash it out of her fur and ugh... she was going to be wet.

She did not look good wet. More skinny and drowned and she had seven tails on top of that and they were going to look so sad. So she was unhappy, black eyes in slits at the still water and fur bristled out. There was other freshlings and they were loud and talking about how excited they were to go into the pool but all she could think about was gross.

She huffed and started to listen to the teacher as they started to talk about strokes and proper pool safety and what counted as rough housing. The do and don’t of pool safety. Each freshling was given a pair of rubber water wings.

Jess took hers and poked the orange rubbery material with a claw. It was smooth and when she slipped them on, felt weird against her fur. It was pushing the hair back in weird ways and she didn’t like it. She didn’t like it more when they were properly inflated. They were bulky and she hated them. She did not want to do this.

She watched each freshling ahead of her enter the shallows and splash around. She huffed, slowly extending a toe into the water and then the rest of her foot, bristled at the feel. Ughhh. She entered the water slowly and carefully joining the rest and went along with the class. Float on your back. Tread water. Doggie paddle. Be a frog. She went along grudgingly and tried to keep away from the others that splashed a lot. No, no no.

She didn’t want to play or get more wet. Keep it from getting in her eyes. She was the last to leave, not wanting anyone else to see her fur flat and soaked and hanging. She hide in the largest towels she could find. One draped over her head and the other around her shoulders. She was fine… totally not a drown rat.

She took her time in the shower, trying her best to spray off what she could of the pool water and the stink of chemical and her fur was now rough and her hair as well. It was all tangled and she was going to have to take a good bath and work out the smell and then use some moisture locking wash to make it soft and glowing again

Jess really didn’t like swim lessons and hoped she would be done with them soon.

Student name: Aodh
Prompt: Swimming laps
Response:

Aodh seriously didn't want to do anything remotely close to going swimming in some large, pool of water that other people had been in. The very idea of it grossed him out. If he wanted to go swimming, he'd rather it be in a natural body of water or some river....not a community swimming pool. Not only did it stink, but it seriously had to be unhygienic was it not?! He didn't care if that's what the chemicals were for, who knew how many little kids were out there peeing in the pool rather than being responsible and climbing out. Just thinking about it made him groan in dismay. Yet if he wanted to get on with his classes, this was a part of it. The hybrid growled as he muttered under his breathe. With a bit of a stomp to his walk, he snatched his swim trunks from his room. He went to go sit with his Pack while everyone did breakfast together.

Despite the chaos of having so many in his family, somehow the three adult members of the household always kept it together. Everyone had their lunches, and bags ready to go by the front door. Aodh wasn't sure if he had the mental compacity to be as on top of things as they were...so in return, he did his best to help out with the younger kids. He'd make sure they brushed their teeth as well has hair...and would chase them around to make sure they got dressed for school properly in their uniforms.

With his mind on what was to come, he reluctantly went into the locker room. Changing down into his trunks, he scowled. Why was this a requirement, he'd rather run or do something else? The pool was going make his fur stink for all the nine realms to laugh at him over. Groaning he draped a towel over his shoulder as headed towards the exit..that would lead him into the main area. As soon as the heavy metal doors opened, his ears twitched, flicking back as they laid against his head. The sound of chatter and laughter, along with the splashing of water greeted his ears. His nose wrinkled at the strong smell of chemicals. It was exactly what he didn't want to be dealing with.

Reluctantly, as he didn't see the point in throwing a fit and getting in trouble he grumbled as he stuffed his towel in a safe spot. Storming over to the edge of the water..he stared down at the clear sloshing vat. Oh...this was worse than he expected! Noooo..did he really have to? Rethinking his choice he started to turn around..only a kid barreled into him by accident. Yelping in surprise he was sent flying into the water with a loud splash!

Coming up to the surface after he got over the initial shock as he came to the surface. Gasping he coughed as he treaded water...snarling at the idiot who knocked him in. As it was too late to back out now...he half-assed with his laps to prove to the coach he could do it...before climbing out with an utterly foul expression on the hybrid's face.

Student name: Chandra
Prompt: Swimming laps
Response:

Chandra had been nervous at first when the instructor mentioned what next class would be about in their physical education class. Chandra's complexion had drained of color upon hearing the words swimming pool. Oh, no...that meant they would have to dress down and wear a swimsuit..which swimming was hardly the problem. Chandra actually was a confident swimmer and looked forward to that part of it. The real issue was Chandra wasn't sure they were comfortable being around their classmates without their binder on. However, one thought did come to mind as they tried to keep calm. Their body wasn't something to be ashamed of...their girlfriend had taught them that much. The thought of the other brought a smile to Chandra's face. Closing their eyes Chandra debated what they wanted to do. They could either cover up in excess...or they could be comfortable and wear as a super cute swimsuit. As it was, their large tail would make swimming difficult, to begin with. Did Chandra really want a baggy t-shirt along with shorts to match? No, they had enough extra weight as it was. Groaning in dismay, they wondered what they were going to do.

Frowning, the Imp rubbed their neck as they considered what to do. Going over a brief list of pro's and cons, Chandra's decision was, of course, their own. While it was important to be comfortable, Chandra wanted to show Elliah what their patience and love meant to them...Chandra knew they didn't have to hide their body anymore. There was nothing wrong with them as is. Taking in a deep slow breath, Chandra decided right then and there they were done hiding. If someone made fun of their body, that wasn't their damn problem...not that anyone would. It wasn't like Chandra looked funny, it was all an internal struggle they had fought with since their early childhood.

Finding an absolutely cute two-piece swimsuit with its multi-colors, the look was completed with a black top to make them feel a little less exposed, while still showing off their figure. Examining themselves in the mirror, they made sure to pack a change of clothes for after gym class. Chandra didn't really pay attention to the fact they were surrounded by other students. They had come here to get this class done. Even if it meant they'd be spending forever washing and conditioning their tail...it was going to get dry and crusty with the chemicals. However, swimming in truth was one of Chandra's absolute favorite pastimes....they just preferred to be alone when they did it. Their tail flicked back and forth as they appraised the swimming pool. Heading over to the diving board, Chandra decided to let go of their fears and reservations. Today was supposed to be about having fun and swimming laps!

Their tail swayed back and forth, twitching as it pleased as they climbed up onto the diving board. Inhaling a deep breath, Chandra lifted their chin up as they readied themselves. They would have to swim hard, their tail was excellent at weighing them down, along with the fur on their paws. However, Chandra knew how to keep themselves afloat. Bouncing off the diving board...the Imp let out a shout of delight. Water exploded in a spraying tidal wave as they canon balled into the pool. As soon as Chandra hit the water, the took off swimming...their mind was off the stress of not having their binder on instead focusing on the task at hand.

All in all, it was a good afternoon. Chandra surprised themselves with 13 solid laps by the time their body was too tired to keep up the pace. Exhaling loudly they let themselves float on their back, a smile pulling at the Imps features. This had turned out better than they could have hoped for.

July, 2018
Student name: Elijah
Prompt: Swimming lessons
Response:

Elijah whimpered as he heard the dreaded announcement the class would be swimming. The Kumiho's eyes were wide, horrified even as he looked nervous. He might not have had the large tails most of his brethren had due to his mutation, but that didn't make him anymore found of being submerged in a body of water. His tails took time to dry, and they retained a great deal of water. Worse yet was the down fur on his body would end up soaking wet as well. His ears drooped somewhat pathetically as he fidgetted in his seat, avoiding eye contact with the instructor. Some kids hooted and hollered as they cheered for joy. Others like himself had varying mixed reactions from annoyance to discontent. Elijah nibbled on his bottom lip as he considered what to do.

Talking it over with his adoptive Mommy when he got home brought him a little bit of comfort, she assured him it would be alright. She even offered to take him shopping so they could pick out a pair of swim shorts, and floaties of his very own! Elijah admitted he perked up a bit when she promised to go shopping with him for what he would need for class. He figured he'd borrow something when he was at the pool...the extra time with his loving mother soothed his nervousness.

By the dawn of the next day, the young Kumiho was as ready as he was going to be. Walking with a bounce to his step he kept his chin up like Momma had advised him. He didn't need to be scared..there would be other kids around (which that was another problem all its own) and the teachers would make sure he didn't drown. Sniffing the odd smell of chlorine, the Freshling had apprehension as he entered the pool room. His amber-golden eyes flickered around the area as his heartbeat sped up. Ushered closer to the water, at first he tried to back away shaking his head. However, upon being coaxed to put his feet in he noticed that the water felt nice. It wasn't to cold or warm. Frowning he tentatively stuck his other foot in so he stood ankle deep at the first stair leading into the pool.

Elijah's ears pinned back as he whimpered softly looking up at one of the helpers overseeing the kiddy side of swim lesson time. he was about ready to bolt..when he remembered Elspeth's words. If he didn't try, how would he know if it was scary? He could always be dried off, and his fur rinsed off. It would be okay. Sighing slowly Elijah reluctantly eased himself down the next step..and began to move forward. Gulping, the child wondered if Ashe had gone swimming yet...he bet the other boy was even more annoyed than Elijah was to be doing this. He had full sized tails and pretty hair that went on forever. The image of the others grumpy expression made the boy's freckled face brighten up into a smile.

Without even realizing it, he'd gone up to his chest into the water so the floaties took over. For all the worrying he'd done...he was okay! Blinking in surprise he flapped his arms a little experimenting if he'd dunk under. His tails weighed him down..but the arm floaties and one around his middle ensured he was safe. Beaming happily, Elijah actually found that this was more fun then he expected as his childish laughter joined the other excited happy noises of the various other students scattered about the pool.

Student name: Amon
Prompt: Swimming lessons
Response:

For the first time in a while, Amon was actually excited about a school activity. Normally the boy was reserved and kept to himself. Yet going swimming was a chance to play, and not have to sit in a classroom full of other kids all crammed together while the teacher stood up front and stared at you forever while you waited for the bell to ring. Nibbling on his sweater sleeve, he took the flyer home and showed it to his adoptive parents. He knew swimming was going on..some of his other siblings had already bragged about getting to go for class. That was the real reason Amon was excited..he got to be cool like his older siblings.

Despite his excitement, he was nervous. Drisden, Callahan, and Lir had sat down with him when he explained his concerns. The older Grimms always made time for their various children, especially when one of them would seek either of the triad out. Amon had always been grateful to the family that took him in. While he wasn't a Grimm like them..he felt like he was every bit their son. The feeling of belonging made the Bakeneko happy, in more ways than he knew how to express. So when his parents surprised him with the appropriate swimming gear he'd need, the boy's eyes had welled up with tears as he clung to them.

Amon couldn't wait to get to school that day. He didn't mind the smell of the pool, to him, it was actually pleasant. Even the prospect of being around so many other students didn't bother him. The small boy wasted little time in peeling off his clothes in the changing room and immediately slapping on his Sun-themed trunks. He barely remembered his towel as he was rushing from one spot to the next. His little legs rushed out of the locker room, before dropping his towel off and rushing to the water. Making sure to adjust his floaties the child's tail swayed behind him. His eyes widened seeing how big the pool was. His heart raced with excitement before he darted into the water needing no further encouragement.

Splashing around he giggled with childish delight as he paddled with his arms and feet to try out swimming in such a big body of water. Amon's tail certainly looked sad dragging behind him in the water, but that didn't stop him from having a blast. He didn't really pay attention to the swimming lessons..he was content to play around on his own and splash around with some other kids his age. There was a shy Kumiho boy who he recognized from some of his classes he ended up playing tag within the water for a time. Eventually, after a good solid 30 minutes or so Amon was tired, and more than ready for snack time. Exhaling, the boy felt a boost of confidence swell through his small body. He could swim Okay...as long as he had something to help out he could but he did it!

Student name: Zane
Prompt: Swimming laps
Response:
Zane took a deep breath and exhaled slowly to drawn on her reserve of patience. She wasn't exactly too thrilled about the update to the physical education program. Did the school really have to make it a requirement to climb into a pool? Swimming in its self wasn't terrible, but she didn't really care for it either. It was more having to deal with her fur getting all wet, and then dealing with drying it. In the case of pools, she also had more surface space for the chemicals to cling to and leave her smelling like a living breathing advertisement for chlorine. However, that wasn't to say she hated swimming. In fact, when she was with her girlfriend Emilia she absolutely adored going with her. The other Junior usually wore cute swimsuits, which in turn was what Zane did for her. To bad she didn't have gym class with Emilia today, she poked her tongue out in a playful sour manner as she picked out a swimsuit that would suit for doing more than lounging around by the pool side.

Swimming was the way she and Emilia had gotten closer and bonded. It helped they also had similar likes and dislikes, and had grown up playing together as Freshlings. It was natural for her to want to strive towards getting through Academy as it meant they could both focus on their careers and lives together rather than homework and studies. Her mind wandered, wondering when a good time to give her girlfriend the beautiful Pearl she found would be. It was meant to respect the other girls traditions and cultures.

Even with such pleasant thoughts on her mind, it didn't change the fact she had to climb into chemically treated waters. Reluctantly she showed up on time to make sure she'd be able to get dressed and not have to rush to the pool to get in line for her turn to do laps in the pool. The Baphomet headed for the locker's exit with the intention of getting this class over with. Zane had carefully pulled her hair up, pinning it with several clips and a tight bun to keep it off her while she swam. A little sigh escaped her lips, as she was about to dip herself in the pool. She and Emilia went swimming often, so Zane had become a confident swimmer.

Deciding she might as well get a move on, she dived into the water. Using the momentum of the dive she pulled herself forward, starting off at a quick pace. Once she reached the end of her lap she quickly turned, and headed back. This pattern continued, back and forth until she reached her twelfth pass. Looking to her teacher, she felt proud of herself. Giving a stretch, Zane went to get her towel as she patted at her face dry. She went to go sit by the waters edge, dipping her feet in as she observed her surroundings. It was days like today she usually felt like her mind was off daydreaming. Zane smiled warmly as she quietly hummed to herself.

Fletcher wasn't so sure he really was okay with going swimming. The boy's heart had sunk into his stomach, as he had never tried the activity before. There was always a time and place to try and learn he supposed, but did he really have to go through with it? He hoped somehow in vain he could find a way to get out of it, only the quiet shy teenager knew better. He also didn't want to cause trouble, so he kept his head down about the activity and made sure to prepare himself the best he could. Going over a mental check list, Fletcher was sure to get a pair of swim shorts that would accommodate for his tail for starters. The Imp almost considered buying arm floaties, but decided against it last moment as he felt weird given he was older and felt like he should be able to handle it. In all fairness as he looked to his towel he had pulled aside to take with him he knew it wouldn't be the end of the universe.

The sound of other kids at play caught his attention even from the locker room. He could hear some kids shrieking in delight. Fletcher lightly draped his towel around his shoulders, already dressed in his swimwear. He quietly padded into the main area, the shimmering surface of the water made his eyes flicker to it. Appraising the area, he inched closer to the waters edge. The shimmering surface showed his reflection it it. The Imp looked out across the pool, noting how the Health and Education instructor was lining kids up. The tweet of a whistle sounded off as two kids hopped into the pool and shot off to work on their turn at doing laps.

Gathering up the courage to be brave, Fletcher moved himself in line after he carefully folded his towel and placed it over the back of a lounge chair. His tail loosely curled around him as he watched some of the other kids get to work with proving themselves for their lesson of the day. Fletcher was glad this was his last class of the day, he was going to have to spend time getting all of the chemicals out of his neck fluff and tail.

Wringing his hands nervously together, it was eventually Fletcher's turn whether he wanted it to be or not. Moving into the water, he stepped down off the path leading into the waters. Shivering he let out a little surprised sound. He wasn't sure what temperature he thought the water was meant to be, but it had startled him. Gulping to steady his nerves, Fletcher decided to start his routine. Doing laps with his tail wasn't impossible, but it had it's challenges. Moving a little further into the water, he dipped his head under to get it over with. He was already wet, he might as well finish the job.

Waiting for the go singal of the whistle, he began swimming. He was not as confidient as some of the others but Fletcher did give it his all as he pushed himself to keep swimming for as long as he could manage. By the time he was done, and a towel wrapped around him he felt better, as Flecther smiled.

Student name: Mira
Prompt: Swimming lessons
Response:
Mira was enthralled with the idea of going swimming! She couldn't wait in fact, she kept talking about it rambling on and on about how much fun it was going to be. The little hybrid girl didn't mind getting wet, or the way pools smelled. She was more thrilled to get suited up! She was promised a pair of her own cute matching flotation devices, as she did not trust herself to be able to swim with her massive fluffy tail. Especially with this being the first time other than say a normal uneventful trip to the bathtub. Her luminescent bright blue colored eyes were filled with delight as she happily went to go change into the swimsuit she had gotten to pick out. All of her siblings had been able to, which pleased her as they all got to pick their own style. She was a blend of a variety of races, something Mira was quiet proud of. How could she not feel that way? Grimm, Imp, Goblin and Geist genes all mashed up to make the trio. Something Mira was quiet proud to show off and explain to anyone who was curious enough to inquire. Which of course wasn't that often, but Mira would have loved to clue someone, or anyone in if she could!

Groaning in dismay she just wanted it to be time for her physical education course. She'd already waited long enough! Not that any real time had passed, but for Mira time in the pool couldn't come soon enough. Mira found her mind wandering as she rushed from her caregiver to go get changed. The locker room wasn't very crowded, giving her plenty of space to work with. Her clothing was tossed to one side for when she'd need to change after class ended. She didn't want to waste a single moment of playing in the water. Her towel was wrapped around her, the warmth of the absorbent towel felt nice against her cheek when she would nuzzle into it. Mira only remembered her own towel because she'd been reminded several times she rushed to get her hair pulled back.

By the time she finally got to the pool area, she nearly made a beeline for the water. One of the instructors held her up, noticing in the child's excitement she had not bothered to put on the floaties she'd been so proud of. It wasn't very easy in all fairness, as her clawed appendages certainly made it more likely she'd pop them in a matter of seconds. Fitting them over her hands, she was allowed at last her time in the water. The beautiful reflective surface made her eyes sparkle with wonder. The hybrid dived forward, rushing into the water. Her tail fanned out, the fluff of it gliding behind her as she splashed about happily. Mira's loud childish laughter added to the mix of other children playing. Finally! It was time to go swimming!

Leaping forward she splashed about, glad to finally be able to play. She'd only been waiting for well, forever to get in! Even if one day wasn't really forever, Mira was sure it had been not only forever, but an eternity to wait. She thought it was well worth the wait.

Student name: Mikhail
Prompt: Swimming lessons
Response:
Mikhail couldn't wait for his next class! Normally he loved school, even if he wasn't the best at all his subjects. The young Fallen had heard absolutely wonderful news when the flyers were handed out to students. In them, they let Guardians know about how the Health and Physical education department was opening up the pool again. A reminder to send kids with their swimming clothes, and other necessary items was also added to help make it easy for students to come to class prepared. Mikhail had listened closely, and read over the flyers several times to make sure he wasn't dreaming.

Even a little pinch to his arm didn't change the facts. "What really?! Yes!!! This is going to be so AWESOME!" He called out, throwing his hands in the air. Mikhail's wings had unfolded, spreading wide suddenly as the happy go lucky boy laughed with delight. Unfortunately, his wings nearly swatted one of his fellow classmates right in the face. Apologizing he looked down at his desk with a sheepish smile.

Excitement brightened the child's demeanor as he breathed in awe. It wasn't even like it was too good to be true, they would all get to spend time swimming in stead of listening to the teacher talk about long, boring stuff he didn't really get or understand. Looking forward to being able to get in the pool, he wasted absolutely no time. Mikhail had come prepared with a towel. He also had shorts and a tank top to swim in already on his body. His flip flops thudded against the titled changing room as he rushed to go put his bag down. Inside was not only his lunch, but a change of clothes ready to go when he needed them.

Entering the pool area, he observed the fact there was no running signs all over the place. Kids of all ages were moving about the pool, and Mikhail was pretty sure this was the best place within the realm! Some kids looked less than thrilled, he felt bad for them it was actually a lot of fun going swimming! Maybe he just needed to show them.

Discarding his flip flops with his towel Mikhail didn't really need any of the extra stuff some kids did. He liked swimming, and would whenever his caretaker would let him. Making a beeline, his body crashed into the water as he immediately submerged himself. As long as he kept his wings close to his body he could easily move through the water. Coming back to the surface, he shook his head to clear his face of water. Lazily paddling in the water, he stayed in the area he was supposed to at least. Mikhail turned over onto his back, lazily floating as he sighed happily.

Mikhail couldn't help feeling like something in his world was incomplete, or like he was missing something...but hear being lightly moved by the swell of a wave he had to admit it was pretty nice. Mikhail righted himself as he made his way back over to his classmates to see how the teacher was showing the others to swim...and so he could show off he didn't' need any help floating! Something he was proud about.

Student name: Ezekiel
Prompt: Swimming lessons
Response:

Even though Ezekiel was part naiad (where he got it from, he didn't have a clue. It wasn't like he had actual parents or anything like that. Being an orphan). He had never, ever, in his whole entire like dreamed of learning how to swim. Or wanted to learn how to swim. Swimming. Water. Heh.

That was one good way to drown. Zeke wasn't into it. His tendrils flared unpleasantly as he looked at the water. The water may have been cold in this heat, but he'd rather deal with the beads of sweat that formed on his noggin than rather splash around in unfamiliar water. What if it was tainted? Poisoned? What if the caretakers and teachers put in some juice to make him a brainwashed zombie that only did what the school wanted? Zeke shook his head, mind in a buzz.

Water. It wasn't something that he liked. At least, not swimming. taking cold baths where his feet could touch the bottom of the tub were different. He gulped. What if he couldn't touch the bottom? He couldn't see a bottom anywhere in site. Spooky.

Was swimming even necessary for life? He doubted it. This had to be some scheme. Some ploy.

But no matter how much he kicked and screamed to not go, he was stuck. Here. Zeke had even tried running out and into the hall to find some sort of escape. It was no use. He was dragged back. And worse yet, he was forced to wear floaties. The hybrid stuck out like a sore thumb with the inflatable plastic surrounding his arms. Even worse, they were bright yellow. Charming for some freshlings.

For him? It was horrific. He moved towards the pool, having to be reluctantly obedient to take his first steps into the pool. And stared. Again.

This was terrible. He really shouldn't.

But the freshling behind him pushed him into the water anyway, his foot falling on the step with a hard thud. He winced, about to chew out the freshling behind him for pushing even though he had done the same thing to the freshling that was in front of him a minute or two before but was caught off gaurd as a caretaker took his hand. "I don't want to do this." he gritted out, albeit, moving in the water anyway.

Down another step he went, his chest now covered. And then another. Until he had to push the water to and fro with his feet. This...this wasn't too bad.
"Are you brainwashing me?" he demanded, arms still held by the caretaker. "Let me go." he yanked away, obediently paddling around the caretaker. Well, as well as he could with floaties getting in the way. When a kick board was given to him he had no trouble taking it and swimming to the other side.

Maybe...this would become a hobby of his. Man, there had to be some brain washing juice in this pool. He just knew it. Even if they did say not to drink the water.

Student name: Momoko
Prompt: Swimming lessons
Response:

Momoko stood at the edge of the pool, his wide eyes staring down at the shimmering surface. While it was incredibly pretty to watch the bright sun glitter about on the waters surface, Momoko could not help but he a bit overwhelmed by the sheer fear that overcame him. The last time he had gotten wet and not properly dries off he was sick for a week. Now that was only a light sprinkling! Yet here he stood, in a group of other freshlings, some who took to the water easily and others who ran around having the time of their life. It only further pushed this idea that he was doing something wrong.

Tightening his grip on the towel, the young Kumiho turned to look at the Physical Education who watched from nearby. His ears pressed back as he tried to silently plead with them to let him out. Something that seemed to do little when their eyes caught and the teacher simply tipped their head in the direction of the water as if to ask what was taking so long. Tightening his grip on the towel, Momoko tried to steel his resolve and after a particularly deep breath he returned his attention to the water. Again returning to the quiet studying, yet this time he began to walk around the side of the pool. Searching for where it was the most shallow. If he was going to do this, he wanted to make sure he could easily get out, after all!

It was only when he managed to get to the shallows where a small staircase stretched into the beckoning water that Momoko dropped his towel. Setting it on a nearby railing though well out of the splashing of the group. It was super absorbent, and the last thing he needed was to get out to it already dripping wet and have to go find anything on short notice. Either way he wasn't looking forward to drying out his dense fur later on. All he hoped was that his roommate would be out and he could manage it in relative peace. Casting a last look towards the Gym teacher, Momoko felt a frown stretch across his mouth when the teacher indicated towards the pool with a finger. It was a gesture he couldn't be upset at, since they had given him a pass on swimming in the pool before, yet still. It hurt.

Either way he was getting in today, maybe it wouldn't be as bad at he had built up in his head. The fear looming like a monster over him, it's vicious claws digging into his ribs to grasp at his heart when he dipped a paw into the warm water. It tickled his fur, and with a deep breath he set the other on the stairs. His bright eyes downcast to watch the way the light current in the pool from the others playing around caused the short fur on his legs to sway and move about. The second step proved to be more than he was ready for. The water submerged his long fluffy tails, causing the once large appendages to look like little drowned rats. Yet still he pushed forward, feeling the claws of fear slowly loosen until he was free floating. Doggy paddling in a small circle before quickly turning and getting back out. Already his body felt heavy, but at least his ears hadn't gotten wet.

Either way he made his way to his towel. Taking care to push the most water from his fur before wrapping the towel around him and carefully making his way to the lockers. For once thankful that this was his last class for the day.
