Yeah uh. Tara stared, wondering just how tired she was if she kept. Missing. Every. Shot. Maybe she really should switch to trying to fortify the hotel...

Diryas was frankly disappointed in the results of trying to take that last bird out of the air for good. It was flying in circles, now, but it was still aloft. Perhaps he should have aimed for another bird after all. Though, if his strike had been the same, he might have only succeeded in angering it and turning its focus on him rather than the building. As the people around him moved through their own attacks and defense-building, Diryas found his current area becoming a bit too crowded. At least, for his liking.
Time to see if he couldn't get to a less populated corner.

Ernst hadn't had a chance to weigh in on the vote - mostly because he'd been dazed by the choice. And he wasn't sure how he felt about the outcome - but he knew that a decision had been made. He had to keep going.
Unfortunately, the fact that the birds were now attacking the hotel directly seemed to unnerve him. He spent the first few hours running around, unsure how exactly to help, before he forced himself to remember that no one had clear instructions right now. It was just as it'd been before, just...a little more dire. So he went digging through the rooms until he'd piled a cleaning cart full of, ah, a dresser, and started piling it, along with other things, near an emergency exit. This was probably a fire hazard, but with any luck the birds would be dead by the time that was an issue again, and then it'd be clear.

It seemed that the birds were starting to thin out a bit.
At the very least, it seemed like less holes were forming in the building, and things sounded less ... loud. That was a relief, but it was not enough of a relief for Zebulon to relax and figure that the people in this hotel would be alright now. There was still work to do.
A lot of the things in this area had already been mined for what would be useful, but there were still a few things that might have some utility. He took a painting off the wall, first taking the time to pop the painting out of the frame--he didn't like ruining art if he didn't have to--before using his knife to break the frame into four pieces at the corners.
He took the four sticks he had now and used one to seal the area around a window that had a gap due to the window frame breaking.

Sidney James - Bow: base damage 6There was a whoop from behind her as she released another arrow, pegging a bird through the throat to watch it fall away. Another soon took its spot, but at least there was one more ******** never ending… The voice behind her definitely belonged to a blonde punk and Sid ran her hands through her hair as she looked for him. “Oi, did you really hit something, or did you just dig your sword in some goo stuck on the building and think you did?” She called playfully, grinning. 98 damage

The sudden burst of activity - the shouting, the people, the threat of the bird... and then the arrows whizzing over her head - gave Misha pause and she swallowed hard. Panic later, she told herself. It's just like stage fright. You work through it. Later was going to have a lot of chocolate, alcohol, and company if she had her way. Misha gave Beth a final hug before touching Rob's shoulder, smiling at Sid (whether she saw it or not), and bending to retrieve her shield. She paused in the crouched position, though, to wedge a few more items within arm's reach beneath the new fortification. Just in case. She closed her eyes, listened to the momentary silence on the other side of the wall, and stood, buckler in hand. When she turned, she saw the owner of the other arrow that had protected her and Beth and her face lit with a beaming smile. "Brian!" The relief in her voice at his presence and his seeming well-being could not be feigned. She took a few quick steps to get close enough for her hand to brush his waist, careful not to disrupt any hold he had on his weapon. Then she tipped her head to press her cheek briefly to his bicep. "Thanks oodles." Something caught her attention before she could say more, though, and Misha frowned. The sound repeated, a soft cry. "I'm going to check the room next door." Suiting action to deed, she gave a final smile before slipping out of the room with her shield held at the ready. 197

The two of them together were strong enough, something that she was proud of. It wasn't perfect, but as she heard screams coming from other rooms in the hotel her attention was elsewhere. She hoped whoever was screaming was okay, or at least handling their situation. Things wee happening everywhere and it really was hard for her to focus on anything she was doing. Maybe fighting the birds was better for her to do. But no, she had decided to help fortify and she would stick to that. When the couch was in place she looked to the older women, "Should we go and check on the others? I would like to put something on top but I don't see anything at least in this room."201 HP

Briiva drew another arrow and fired, this time to no avail. It did, at least, seem to go through the window and not further pincushion the wall some more. She really did wish that she had more training with this damn thing. "Fore!" She called out, more to keep herself in good spirits than anything. She was exhausted and thirsty, but the current issue was enough to keep her focused, at least for now.

Despite everything, Beth was starting to feel like everything was surreal. It was the same kind of mindset that sent her out to find a bird to take on by herself. She was unsure that her actions would have consequences. So she went off impulse.
She wasn't sure if she should be worried that such an impulse seemed rooted in reckless violence.
She waited until she could see something squirm its way from behind a barrier and threw her arm out, leather rope following her action and lashing the unsuspecting bird. She squealed happily, jumping up and down in place to celebrate. "I hit it!" Her following laughter was more relieved than joyful.

To say Zan was mildly disappointed would have been entirely accurate. He had been interested in saving people because he was crazy good at it, but keeping the survivors here safe was nice too, he supposed. So, mild. A faint dash of meh clouding his mind as he darted off to fortify the hotel. He hadn't been the best at this exercise either, but he'd proven far worse at taking down the birds.
Mattresses were shoved against open windows, nets strung over them when the mattresses ran out, and when he finally stepped away from his work to regroup, Zan found that the others had already done far more than he could have even conceived. He hoped no one was keeping score.

Well, at least this strike was better, and Diryas finally brought down the bird he'd been hitting repeatedly. He was getting tired, but he would have to suck it up and let adrenaline do its work. He could crash later, after they were done here.

"I bloody well DID hit something! And it was likely a bird!" Rob growled at Sid. Like it could be anything else on the second floor of the hotel. He knew Sid was teasing him, but still, after all the flubbed swings, it stung his ego a little bit. And got him a bit angry. More holes appeared in the walls, more beaks and talons. Rob grimaced with determination as he shoved the greatsword into another hole that had opened up in the wall. He felt the blade hit something else solidly, followed by an avian shriek. "There! See, Sid? That was undeniably a bird!" Drawing the long blade back in, he once more showed off the blood-stained weapon as proof. 106 + 10 = 116 damage

Sylvia squinted at the couch against the window -- it wasn't perfect, but it was something. She glanced around the room at her companion's words, to confirm that they hadn't missed something, then gave a nod. "We can check on the others and see if we can find anything to put on top along the way..."
She gave a soft smile to the other girl as she turned, "Let's scour the hallways. I'm Sylvia, by the way." Might as well get introductions out of the way. As she glanced down the hall, she thought she saw the edge of a service cart down the hallway, and she pointed, "If that's a cart, we can break it down and use the shelves. Check on the others while I go look?" She waited a moment to confirm before heading down the hall.209 HP

Briiva pulled back once more, closing her non-dominant eye and holding her breath. She held her stance as long as she could, making sure to let the arrow fly only once she saw the gap in the window darken with the black feathers of a bird. The arrow found it's target with a another satisfying caw of alarm, causing a borderline delirious Briiva to break out in a grin. "Birdie!" She knew that the golf term had no real context at the moment, but she decided to continue the trend anyway. "got another one for ya, Beth!" The exclamation was followed by an almost sadistic chuckle. 126 Dmg

Misha approached then and he lost focus for only a moment. He smiled down to the woman of whom he had become quite fond, even if it had only been a day or so. It was nice to already have what was creeping toward friendship with anyone else who had been Chosen. He didn't dare let himself believe that Misha might be flirting.
"Of course," he said with a slight chuckle at her thanks, and then nodded, "Be safe!"
Then he saw Beth lash out at a bird and let his arms relax. "Good one!" he called to her, grinning. She seemed so excited to have gotten one!
His arrow slipped off of the string and he had to right it before aiming into the swarm again. Bah, a missed chance! Good for Beth, though! That was an enormous step up from shrieking in horror.
