Jayden was never subtle as to how Buddy came to be - he was an accident, imbued when on any number of substances that seemed a good idea at the time. The young hybrid has never taken offence at this and is just grateful Jayden was even willing to raise him; the bartender hardly screams 'responsibility'. It was clear the carefree hybrid had no idea how to raise an infant so it was crucial that Buddy became independent as quickly as possible. When he was newly woken, he received more care from Jayden's casual lover Cherry - the hallowed was devastated that the hybrid imbued with someone else, but wanted to gain his affection by looking after his child for him. As he grew, Buddy became closer to Cherry than Jayden, but never considered either of them a parent; he describes himself as self-raised.
His father's lifestyle certainly didn't change with his presence, so Buddy was brought up around alcohol and substances in the mess of an apartment Jayden calls home. Seeing how immature and useless it made his father, Buddy was careful not to go near any drug. Some of his father's 'friends' that regularly came over were clearly unstable due to their lifestyle, instilling a fear of mental illness in Buddy from a young age. He especially became afraid of developing paranoia although, tragically and ironically, this resulted in some paranoid behaviour from the freshling. Buddy had to set up his own admission to the Academy, only asking Jayden to contribute where absolutely necessary. Between struggling with his own personal issues and organising his father's life, Buddy had little time for studies. Currently he is passing at his classes, but certainly isn't excelling.
Buddy is too busy with his present life to truly consider his future, but he's shown an interest in his father's part-time job of hairdressing. Similar to his father, Buddy possesses an easygoing charm that helps him make friends where he pleases, although he tends to keep to himself at school.
familiars
scamp.
buddy found scamp hiding under some floorboards in jayden's apartment alongside a small family of flitterats. scamp was the only one brave enough not to flee when buddy shooed them away, instead standing his ground and twitching his nose rebelliously towards the freshling. buddy was somewhat taken aback by this brash attitude coming from a tiny rodent. curious to see where this could go, buddy laid out some food for the familiar, watching him come out to eat every day. after a few weeks of this, he built up the confidence to feed the flitterat straight from his hand. since that moment, the familiar has grown incredibly fond of buddy, and the hybrid sees him as a true pet.

jayden the father who raised buddy, jayden showed a surprising amount of responsibility by keeping the infant when awoken. the hybrid is by all accounts a terrible father, and he is fortunate buddy is naturally savvy enough to look after himself. buddy likes his father, but sees him more of a chum than a parent - he certainly isn't an authority figure. buddy has no respect for his father, and while he has no ill wishes towards him, he's looking forward to obtaining his own independence from jayden.
reaver the father buddy has never met, he knows absolutely nothing about reaver except that he must be at least partly chimera. jayden has made it clear he was on a cocktail of drugs at the time and remembers nothing of buddy's imbuing and, as a result, the other party involved. buddy has occasionally thought about his other father - even his name being unknown to him - but he doesn't dwell on it. whoever he is, he hasn't found his way into buddy's life so far.
petri the sibling buddy has never met - he doesn't even know petri exists.
friends.
cherry more of a parent than jayden, cherry has half-heartedly raised buddy since he was an infant. he did little more than change diapers and provide sustenance, but buddy is grateful for it nonetheless. buddy sees cherry as more of a father figure than jayden, however that doesn't mean a lot - he perceives most of his teachers as more parently than his actual father. buddy likes cherry and enjoys his company, although he finds the hallowed's obvious desperation for jayden's attention frustrating and sad. buddy hopes to maintain a relationship with cherry even after he's left his father.
cassy cherry's daughter who has been raised in a similarly neglectful household, buddy feels a bond towards the hallowed. the two have formed a close friendship due to their parents' relationship and similar upbringings, although buddy occasionally finds cassy's domineering attitude tiring. he has confidence that they'll stay friends throughout their time at the academy and is glad he has someone he can actually rely on.

name.bourbon nicknames.killer gender.female race.infected litch // geist birthday.22nd of april 2018 zodiac.scepter orientation.pansexual occupation.student // enoch partner.none colour.#d68a62 song.scissor sisters - i can't decide
Bourbon was the product of a risk-taking and curious litch entering the infected compound and meeting Honey. The two of them produced three children, all of whom were themselves infected. Due to the inability for the cannibals to join society, Honey had no choice but to raise all three of the children themselves. They weren't upset by this and instead enjoyed the opportunity to mould three young minds to be just like them. Unfortunately for Honey, their lenient and do-as-you-will parenting style didn't result in a bunch of small Honeys, but rather in three somewhat troubled children. Bourbon has always struggled to fight with the inner hunger and rage caused by her infection, creating a rather disturbing child. She always sought after order in the chaos that was her life, controlling every aspect she possibly could. This didn't trouble Honey, who was used to only having order if someone else did it for them.
Raised in isolation from society with only a small community to develop from, it isn't surprising that Bourbon's disturbing personality only got worse. She became increasingly more interested in weapons - particularly knives - although she hasn't injured anyone yet. The schooling provided by Honey is incredibly limited, seeing as the geist never did particularly well during their time at the Academy. Instead, Honey taught their children street smarts and how to be savvy in a tough world. Bourbon turned this knowledge more towards manipulation, leading others through sheer confidence and, despite only being a freshling, fear. She particularly enjoys watching her parent practice cocktail-making, fascinated by the alchemical side of it. Even as a child, Bourbon has developed an interest and aptitude in alchemy, although they tend to experiment more with posions than potions.
Bourbon is looking forward to the day where she has the skills to sneak out of the compound and see outside civilisation for herself - perhaps she'll bring some of her concoctions with her when she does.

honey bourbon's only guardian, honey had no experience nor preparation for being a parent. borubon was mostly left to her own devices with honey simply offering input and help when they felt it necessary. despite this laid-back attitude, bourbon respects her parent, wanting their approval and love. bourbon is confident in their relationship and is certain that honey is proud of her development - whether this continues to be true as bourbon grows older is doubtful.
gil voidspider the litch who snuck into the infected compound to learn more about them, bourbon has had little contact with her father. of course, this is more out of necessity than desire, and bourbon thoroughly enjoys any time she gets to spend with her father. she often bothers him for stories about the outside world and hopes that one day he will stay and live with them.
meodu // sukel bourbon's twin siblings, meodu and sukel have always been closer to each other than they are to her. she acts non-plussed about this, but she is subconsciously bitter at this neglect. bourbon has gone through an interesting development with her siblings; while she began their relationship trying to win their respect and admiration, she now tries to manipulate them with fear. whether this approach is successful or not, it's most likely how their relationship will be during their entire childhood.

name.stanislav nicknames.annie gender.male race.bakeneko birthday.2nd of may 2018 zodiac.lyre orientation.homosexual occupation.student // grendel | professional gamer partner.none colour.#d13d35 song.kongos - autocorrect
Stanislav was woken to a loving household in Asphodel, his bakeneko family having lived in the large city since their race was first exposed to the outside world. Although his family wasn't exceptionally wealthy, they enjoyed financial security due to both his parents working full-time jobs in high management. The young bakeneko never wanted for anything, often enjoying small luxuries as he demanded them. His parents weren't too lax or uninterested in their child, however their busy lives often left him in the care of a nanny, establishing a lack of rules and respect early on in his life. As often happens in these cases, Stanislav grew to be demanding and impatient, often getting easily frustrated if faced with obstacles to his desires.
Despite this obvious personality flaw, Stanislav made many friends at school due to his energetic and experience-focused personality. He was often caught carrying out ridiculous dares, getting into trouble more than a few times for ignoring rules and instructions. A lack of stimulus in his life prompted Stanislav to turn towards gaming; a world full of violence and action with the main objective usually involving overcoming barriers and rules. Extroverted as he was, the bakeneko mostly played player vs player games where he could beat out his peers. By the time Stanislav graduated from the academy, he had made a name for himself on the pvp gaming scene. His parents were all too happy to provide him with any gaming equipment he needed, glad that he would stay in his room and entertain himself rather than going out and getting into trouble.
While Stanislav's main interest lay in professional gaming, his parents insisted he attend a university to do something 'actually important' with his life. Knowing what he was good at, the bakeneko chose to study game design, although his grades tend to result in barely-passes. Stanislav isn't bothered by the lack of success in his studies as he gains more and more opportunities to prove himself in the gaming industry. His current ambition is to make gaming a full-time career and become the most renowned name in the industry.

Yorjan's family had lived in the undercity of Elysium for as long as they could remember, where every individual had to contribute to the greater society in order for them all to survive. Yorjan's mother was a blacksmith and his father was exceptional at plumbing maintenance. They both encouraged Yorjan to develop handy, physical skills from a young age, delighted at the skill he showed at working with his hands. The young sluagh quickly became a valuable member of society, so he was shocked when his parents told him he was to leave for Below. They were so proud of his hard-working and selfless attitude but did not want to see him spend his whole life in the undercity. A few individuals from Above had just begun exploring the world of Below and a few select children were being sent to Asphodel academy and, his parents decided, Yorjan should be one of them. In their eyes there was no one better to prove the worth of the sluagh to all civilisation.
Yorjan was heartbroken to leave his home, and this would have a long-lasting impact on the young man, making it difficult for him to form true attachments. Despite this, he was always a determined individual and was intent on doing well in his new environment. He gained a lot of attention - both positive and negative - as a new race in the academy. He made few real friendships during his school years, instead proving his worth through helpfulness and handiwork; Yorjan was often found helping the academy employees with general maintenance and more finicky work. By the time he graduated, most of his teachers commented that he was an excellent student, most forgetting that his actual academic work was nothing above mediocre. All people remembered about Yorjan was his open face and generous, can-do attitude.
Yorjan was uncertain what he was going to do with his life; during his first years at the academy, he was always pining to return home, certain he would do so as soon as he graduated. After spending so many years Below, however, his heart grew less attached to his home. He wasn't ready to return, but nothing he had learnt at the academy hinted at a possible career path. He was lost. The only decision that seemed reasonable to him was leaving; the academy, Asphodel, his home. He wandered for some time, often sleeping without a roof over his head, until he made his way to the small settlement of Rosebud. It was no more than a few farms cobbled together in a proximity near enough to each other to justify a united name. Yorjan took this opportunity for shelter and stayed with one farm for some time, offering his help around the house in exchange for a bed and food. In the two weeks he stayed there, the family already considered him invaluable and begged him to stay. Yorjan politely declined, but it help him make his decision on what to do with his life.
Knowing the village could use someone with his skills, Yorjan spent the next few weeks gathering the resources to build his own home. Within two months he'd built his cabin, complete with a shed for woodwork. His home was an hour or two's travel away from the village itself, nestled in the forest. Still, news travels quickly in a small town, and before he'd even finished putting on his front door there were people lined up outside it. Yorjan felt totally accepted in the small community, happy to fulfil the role of the town lumberjack and perform any maintenance the villagers may need. During his time in Rosebud he's seen it grow from a small collection of farms to a bustling village, even managing to make profits thanks to its new management. Of course, Yorjan is disconnected from all this development, providing stability for any of the townsfolk. Yorjan is uncertain when - if ever - he'll leave this lumberjack life behind.
