Jacinthus - Post 4
HP: 17

I CHOOSE CHOICE B

His desire to chase off Chalcedony really didn't seem to go over well with the crowd as it took them but a few moments to turn on him, dragging him away from the Shifter kicking and flailing. He knew it was foolish, that it was childish, but he didn't want to lose to that shield wielding idiot! Especially where Takoda was concerned. He struggled against those that held him but he couldn't seem to break free of the crowd, couldn't seem to do anything, instead pain overwhelmed him... and once again, for the second time, Jacinthus was consumed by darkness.

Again that darkness seemed to last an unknown amount of time before he found himself on his feet again, this time within a crowd of people he didn't know. At least it was better to be surrounded by actual strangers then it was to be surrounded by people who knew who treated him like he was a stranger. His eyes moved from the crowd to look instead toward the table of food and for a moment all he could think about was the hunger that was instantly gnawing at his belly. He was... hungry, no, starving... a feeling that reminded him of once upon a time ago when he and Keilana were still little, before they were able to fend for themselves, and food could be harder to come by then he'd like. It was a sensation that he didn't want to deal with again... as such when the others rushed forward Jacinthus was right beside them.

He needed food, to fill the empty feeling in his belly, and once he was fill he'd be able start anew his quest to get home! A thought that fell by the way side as he saw a rather small pair of hands reaching for the food on the table. It was food that was out of reach though to someone so small and weak... and that was something that didn't sit well with Jacinthus. This... this was why he worked so hard, why he went on so many hunts, his desire to make sure nobody went without. Younglings should be treated more carefully, should be taken care of, even if that meant going without. His stomach gave a grumbling sound of protest even as Jacinthus handed over what food he'd been able to snag to the little one, "Here, take it. I can always try to fight for more." If he were lucky he might be able to get some scrapes despite how thick the crowd around the table was.

Chalcedony - Post 4
HP: 23

I CHOOSE CHOICE B

Try as he might to talk to Keilana about what he was feeling over being so completely abandoned by the crowd of people that were his family and friends it wasn't something that lasted long. It seemed as though her interest was turning toward the stranger as well, causing Chalcedony to be left completely alone. A feeling that he knew well and one that he did his best to quash before it could build up inside of him so much that he was left wounded by the feeling. It was strange how just being left alone could actually hurt...

He stood there was a moment by himself, watching as those before him faded away, and then in an instant Chalcedony found himself someone else. It seemed as though he was at what looked to be the start of a feast. The food that was stacked high on the table looked amazing! It was as he looked at it that he realized he was quite hungry, so much so that his stomach was twisting in painful knots just at the sight of the delicious bounty. Before he could really fully take in the feast before him people were suddenly making a mad dash for the food, something that he found himself dragged along with. He was hungry, so he might as well do what the others were doing, right? Might as well get himself something to eat so that he could ease the feeling in his stomach.

Chal was quick to gather what he could, despite the pushing and shoving of those around him, getting himself a decent amount. He was about to retreat, so that he'd be able to enjoy the food he'd gathered when he noticed a little one trying to get at the food as well. The crowd didn't seem to be all that helpful in getting some food for the youngling, nor were they letting the little one through. It was something that had him starring for a moment before he decided to hand over what he had to the little one. He might be able to get more food if he tried but the youngling couldn't even reach the table, it was a no brainer of you asked him.

I CHOOSE CHOICE B

Once again things changed, the crowd shifted to opposition. Their goal a table heaped with food. Leaping out of the way of the rushing crowd, Draven watching in horror as the food was scoffed down in great gusto by these strangers. What were they all thinking? Moving forward, he managed to grab a couple things for himself, before he was shoved out of the way by everyone else. Backing away from the mob, he went to eat what he had grabbed. Only to see someone, smaller then he was, a kid he supposed. Getting pushed around before being shoved out the back of the crowd.

"Here." he said as he held out what he had. "Its not much, but its something, huh?"

The kid gave a smile before picking themselves up and dashed off. While he was starving, to the point of passing out it seemed, he was happy that he could help someone else out. But still, surely there had to be a better way to hand out food then grab and take and gorge yourself until you were sick.

"Pathetic."

|| Damissan
|| Post: 4
|| HP: 20

      Despite his initial jealousy, Damissan’s tension eased as re-engaging his company worked. Instead of excluded, he became a part of the crowd again gradually, slipping ever more comfortably into conversation with the newcomer as well as those closest to him, and quickly as that, it became a familiar scene: a new face in territory he knew best.

      Then, again, the scene shifted.

      Less jarring than before, it felt almost expected this time, and he took in the positives first: the rich scents in the air of perfume and food winding their way about the great hall, the extravagant atmosphere with deep colors and silks draped decoratively—and the banquet itself. As his hunger kicked in, the focus on food took point, quieting his appreciation for other things because, by God, it felt as though his stomach was eating itself. The display of it stretched almost endlessly, it seemed, every dish imaginable excluding, somehow, anything he disfavored.

      The crowd, however — strangers, all of them, intent and hungry — looked ill-prepared to share, and as the weight of the situation sank in, Damis somehow knew to surge forward as they did. Otherwise, it seemed there was no way he would be left any, even of a feast near endless, and his hunger seemed only to give his legs will to rush in. He weaved among them, pushing when necessary, working his way to the table and once there, immediately gathering what he could. If he just took, and left, perhaps he could avoid the push shove of it all—in the sea of it, it was almost terrifying, how quickly animalistic it became.

      Then, just as he’d gotten near everything he thought he could, he spotted the hand. A child, smaller than the rest of the crowd, struggling to make their way in but being denied each time by stronger, more persistent ‘banquet goers.’ Damissan frowned. His stomach churned, and he was not used to hunger so sharp, it was almost alien to him. Never in his life had he had to go hungry.

      But perhaps, due in part to that, he also did not feel fear of it. He would be able to get food. He had the strength and means, and even if this feast felt like his only option in the moment—it simply wasn’t so. This child, though, was another matter. So, Damis took the hand, encouraging the child best he could with expression and an indication with his head that they were getting out of there and, using his height to his advantage in guiding, soon they were both free of the sea. There, once satisfied they would not be pursued or trampled, he took what little food he’d managed to make his way out with in the process, and offered the bulk to his company.

      While the gratitude in the child’s eyes was not filling, per se, it did seem to curb the sharpest edges of his discomfort, and he smiled, doing what he could to savor the last bit he had. Perhaps after, if there was any left, he would attempt to go back for more. For now, however, this was enough, and that would do.

Ziel
HP: 11 hp

Ziel was so happy to be with family and friends that she only noticed the place change when the faces became ones that she had never seen before. Ziel moved away from them before her eyes fell on the table filled with food and her stomach growled low. Then they were all clamoring and fell on the table like hungry animals. Ziel watched frightened, she would never make it there. She grabbed her stomach and sniffed, she wanted to cry. Where was her mother? Why was she so hungry? She hated this place, she wanted to leave! Now she was going to die from starving here.

Kanika
HP: 9 hp

Kanika was still talking smack about the other girl when she noticed that her sister had been replaced by some stranger. The Elaria moved away from her and a little closer to the table of food. She was suddenly so hungry and this table… Then the room exploded into a furry of motion and Kanika was running for the table, grabbing and piling things on as if her life demanded it. She snapped, kicked, punch those around her to grab more food, her mothers had taught her that survival was important and she knew none of these people! She was going to take all the food she could get for herself.

|| Jakkoa ღ ❅
|| Post: 4
|| HP: 9

      It had seemed to be going well, getting the opportunity to vent. Teya listened well, going along with his extensive bitc—that is, valid complaining. Until she didn’t anymore. At that point, Jak frowned, feeling her listen less and lose interest progressively until finally she, too, was leaving him, and his gut knotted, tensing. Because, no. That wasn’t fair. She couldn’t leave also, and as she moved to join the crowd, Jak set his shoulders back, left with no choice but to intervene, speak to his family, explain, or find out more so that he could poison the reputation of this stranger and get back to where he ought to be—

      But he never got that far, for his family was already disappearing, the scene shifting.

      High ceilings and an elegant room replaced the open sky of Sauti. Rich fragrances, thick in the air replaced the open spring breezes. And strangers, everywhere, replaced familiar faces. The mood shifted, potent as though physical, and though he was not generally uncomfortable with strangers — enjoyed engaging them, even — this was something else. They looked not only unfamiliar, but wild somehow. Rabid, even. And hungry.

      He knew that look. Comfortable as his family was on the whole, they were far from wealthy, but as compared to certain portions of Sauti, they sometimes lived like nobility, and even he had felt the sting of the occasional night without enough to go around. Seeing it triggered in him the realization that he was, too, and not just hungry. Starving. He felt like his worst night. Like days of scarce hunting, too far from civilization to stock back up after a storm, where the food had to go to his siblings first and even then, they didn’t get enough. He felt like dizziness, uncertainty—not knowing for sure if he would eat again.

      With that came vicious determination.

      He wasn’t the largest among the crowd — far from it — but he was quick, among the first responders to move for the table. When it came to shoving, he bristled at the rough contact, but focused on his personal goal, tuning out all the rest. Nothing about it agreed with him — the barbaracy of it all, the roughness, the shear number of them all — but immediately upon making it to the table, he snatched what he could, regardless, honing strictly in on the most practical things: nuts, which he could pour into the sashes of his robes, dry fruits and berries, compact and similarly easily stored, and breads, particularly crackers. The extravagant desserts, meats, pastries, jellies and sauces — mouth watering as they all looked and smelled — weren’t even considered for an instant.

      As he began to slip from the crowd, stocked with everything he could manage to carry, his eye caught, briefly, on some smaller children struggling to fight their way to the table, and for half an instant, he paused. But they, too, were strangers. Hungry, unfamiliar faces, and elsewhere, his own siblings might be as hungry as he was. His whole family, even.

      So, he concluded, they were not his responsibility, or his problem. He needed to find safety, and eat, and then see about finding his way home.

|| Naqenni

      They didn’t understand.

      Instead of being knocked from their false trance when she attacked the imposter, Naqenni’s sisters, her tribe mates, her family—all of them, one by one, turned on her. She snarled, and then screamed, fighting them off best she could and attempting to insist all the while how blinded they’d been. But there were too many of them, too many hands shoving, pushing, forcing her down, and her heart threw itself wildly about the cage of her chest as panic seeped in. They were too strong and too numerous, hurting her, and she couldn’t breathe

      She was somewhere else.

      Still her heart thudded wild in her chest, leftovers of the scene before, but this—this she could manage: an open, unfamiliar room draped with cloth she didn’t recognize, architecture foreign to her eyes, and scents alien to her senses, but stimulating just the same. It smelled ravishing, but as quickly as she noticed that, she noticed too, the people. Unknown, strange faces, not her sisters. Not even her kind. Earthlings, perhaps, but it didn’t matter so much as the sudden chasing realization that she was starving—and all of these massing, disgusting outsiders looked ready to eat a limbara. Greedy and swarming.

      She broke into a run.

      None of them could possibly be as hungry as she was, and even if they were, it didn’t matter. They weren’t her family or her tribe and they could all starve, little as she cared. So, she bashed away any that drew to near to her, she fought openly and without reserve, and on arriving at the table, took everything she wanted. The selection looked nearly endless, but as hungry as she was, she felt, somehow, that she could very well eat everything herself and possibly still be hungry after. If she left even scraps, the rest of the hoard could consider it a blessing.

|| Lenila
|| Post: 4
|| HP: 11

      Len simpered, head to her knees as she drew them in and shut her eyes, sucking in a breath. It wasn’t really unexpected, she supposed. She was plain, and easy to forget. It made sense that they’d find better. It hurt, but she was tired—exhausted, even, from it all and perhaps, if she just laid down for a spell…

      The scene shifted, and Len stirred, uncertain when or how precisely everything had changed. She was still in the dream, she felt sure of it, but it was such a strange dream that it continued to leave her disoriented. Still, it eased some of the weight in her chest to move on to something new, and immediately, she smelled the food. She barely saw the rest of the room, and though she knew the people were there, they didn’t seem to matter so much as the feast.

      She was starving.

      It was a familiar feeling, one she’d grown accustomed to grappling with in life, but by the gods it was so fierce this time, and the food was all there. She had never seen so much all at once in her life. The crowds surged forward. She stomped, one foot to the tiled floor and before her, a set of stairs like a bridge, supported by nothing, sprouted forward. She didn’t waste a second of hesitation before dashing up it, over the crowd, and down on the opposite side of the table. Upon landing, she reached out, snatching up a pastry and shoving that into her mouth, cheeks full and puffed with it as she chewed, already filling her shirt front with more in a scramble to snag as many sweets as she could fill it with.

      Until she spotted them.

      Across the banquet table, caught up in the crowd: another child, younger even than her, struggling against the surging, shoving hands and unable to get to anything. Lenila’s brow furrowed. Her stomach rumbled. She hesitated, chewed, and then swallowed. But she couldn’t just do nothing, no. That wasn’t really a choice. Even if they weren’t familiar, any strange hungry child was almost as much family as those she’d come to know in the orphanage.

      So, Len slipped under the banquet tablecloth, edged along the floor there for a moment and — after removing and stretching out her scarf to make a makeshift ‘blanket’ for depositing her sweets on safely out of sight and reach — she made her way to the opposite side, ever wary of stomping boots and legs. By some miracle or instinct, she found the source of the small hand, and grinned at them, ushering them forward and then, when it became clear they were still struggling against the surge, moving to them and helping them through herself.

      Once back in the safety of relative ‘peace’ under the tablecloth, she guided her newest companion to her sweets and there, away from the raging crowd, they shared.

      “So,” she said around a mouthful of sugar cookie, “I’m Len. What’s your name?”

For a while things seemed to be going well. Her girlfriend was listening to it, and it seemed that she would start paying more attention to Ilyra. That was until she started to loose interest. Ilyra watched as her girlfriend turned back to the crowd, leaving her alone.

Closing her eyes Ilyra started to cry. Before the tears could turn into full on faced sobbing Ilyra realized that the sounds of her loved ones were gone. Opening her eyes she found herself in the most amazing place, filled with smells and pretty sights. At sight of the food Ilyra's stomach started to growl, but before she could grab anything the mob of people swarmed the table leaving her standing there alone.

With a sigh Ilyra sat down, accepting that she would be hungry and lonely forever.

HP: 25 HP

The longer that Briella stood there the more she saw the wonderful things that everyone was talking about. She started to chime in, even learning new things from the new person. She hadn't noticed when the first of her loved ones patted her on her back, but when her girlfriend smiled and winked over at her Briella knew she had done the right thing.

When Briella went to look from her girlfriend back to the new person all ov her friends and family seemed to disappear around her, replaced by new people that she had never met. They all had a hungry look in their eye, but it wasn't until she saw the food piled high that Briella realized what they wanted. Suddenly she realized that she wanted it as well, she was simply starved.

As the others rush towards the table she does so too, but before she could grab much a smaller figure was noticed trying to get the food. With a sigh Briella lead the child away from the hungry mob and handed them her food. "I bet you need it more then I do." she said as she looked around, hoping no one else would try to steal the food from the child with her standing there.

Lasarra
Post 4
HP: 19 HP

Her husband seems to agree, and there is hope once again in Lasarra's eyes. If only she could get him to see that they were still very much in love then maybe he would stop all this and they could be happy. However although at first he seems to agree with her soon enough he is telling her that she is overexaggerating and turns away from her in favor of the shifter woman.

Crushed Lasarra could do nothing but stand there and watch as her family and friends faded from her view, never feeling more alone.

Before she could even register that there were strangers around her the wonderful smells flooded Lasarra's senses. She really didn't see the other people, but when they started to run towards the table so did she. If she was going to be alone in the world at least she could be full.

Hungrily ad greedily Lasarra grabbed everything in sight. She started to retreat to a corner of the room when she saw a child trying to get to the table and being pushed away every time. With a sigh she looked from her food to the child. She would not want someone to let her daughters go without food.

"Come here child, you can have my food."
