A-trekking through the woods I go!
Troll: Vulpin Cadmea
Inventory: Mushroom Gerbs, Bowie Knife, Yarn Balls, 10/10 Stamina

Location: Hillside Outpost
Choice Picked: B) Hike the Mountain Trail!
Item Used: n/a

Mushroom Count: 7

Vulpin spent little time entertaining the lumberjack, immediately purchasing the medikit over the other junk he was selling. There was really no other word for it. It was junk. As much as he loved a good PB&J, and as useful a shovel would be, they both had, well, a bite taken out of them. The medikit seemed infinitely more useful. Spending the last of his beetles, he took the item and moved off, looking up to the mountains.

He could enjoy a good hike, he thought to himself. He hadn't been to Busthind since his trips to the Punishment Pits, so he was satisfied with the small mountains New Hemisect provided him.

Something subtle caught his attention in the corner of his vision. A troll, heading the opposite direction. The distance between them was increasing, but Vulpin trained in on her movements. It was unmistakeable. Etsali. Was she wearing a disguise too? But no mask. Strange. No, it wasn't strange. It was just stupid. But he wasn't going to stop her. Cupping his hands around his mouth, Vulpin let out a yip for her attention. He waved softly at her for a moment, content to let each other keep their separate ways for the hunt. After all, there'd be less mushrooms to pick if they had to split between the two of them.

With that he turned on his heels and started up the mountain, ready to continue his adventure.

Look at my amazing float! Let's get in the parade!

Inspiring Music

User Image

Muxing had thought that they'd be embarrassed at their float, but once they saw it alongside the other floats in the Harvest Jubilee parade, they felt only warm pride.

It was Mu's first hot air balloon, to be sure, and it wasn't built to get very far off the ground, but it made Mu's point well in daubings of teal, grey, blue, red, and yellow. Muxing wanted to evoke their deep-seated longing – their strange desire to sail through the cloud-wrought skies in an old school dirigable, to see their world from above through the wonders of gas and heat.

When Muxing had started building the float, they had wanted to bring that desire to life somehow, carrying the colors that the upper world must hold down below to the mundane ground with the power of artwork. They had even build a storm, complete with brooding storm clouds and brilliant lightning. Mu hoped that it was enough to inspire others, to make them feel the joy they felt when they dreamed of flight... So what if, for the moment, they had lost the stars? One day, with their art, Muxing would bring them the sky!

Their float seemed to be a hit; Trolls were cheering and grasping at it... but perhaps that was because they threw things from it. Not candy – Mu had sort of a love-hate relationship with sugary goodness, especially chocolate eggs. They had their reasons. No, Mu threw toys instead. It was, of course, more art: hand crafted toy troll soldiers made of pasted bits of eggshell. They drifted through the air with their attached plastic parachutes, gliding over the crowd until greedy wiggler hands grabbed them out of the air.

Muxing was pleased with the success of their float... but there was something missing. Mu searched the crowd for a long, large, lithe white shape, biting into their lip with a sharp-toothed frown as every flicker of white among the crowd turned out to be someone else's lusus, someone else's parent.

Papa hadn't come with her in the float as they'd wanted, but Mu had been hoping that he would at least be at the parade watching her. Finally, the last troll soldier was tossed and the float passed the last bystander at the end of their parade.

Mu kept a smile on their face even as their heart sank into disappointment. Papa was not even here, at the end, waiting for them. He was sure to be okay, Mu knew, relaxing at home enjoying his latest haul of eggs or resting or hiding or something of the sort. Even so... Mu had wanted him to see their float.

I'm feeling in a thoughtful mood. Let's ruminate!

Cesfer had been so excited when his lusus had told him he could go to a festival! A real festival! Full of people and presents and shiny, colorful things! Cesfer had never been to one before – the closest he'd come had been a highblood party and he'd hated it. This was a festival for lowbloods – there would be lowbloods there. That would make things better, he felt... so much better.

Cesfer made a special trip out to the store with his lusus and, braving his nervousness about the salestrolls, managed to buy new clothes, a brand new mask, and even a pair gloves! However, in his excitement, he forgot about one very important thing: the people. In Cesfer's defense, he was a bitty little wiggler, and the sheer crowd of a Jubilee was beyond his little wiggler understanding. The highblood party he'd been too had been a wiggler-level event, 30 trolls at most.

He had never experienced hundreds of trolls in one place before. It was too much: the people, the energy of the festivities, the variety of stuff to do... it overwhelmed him completely. Cesfer didn't know what to do. So he did what he always did when things were too much – he hid, and he watched. Though he longed to go up to many trolls, he ended up just watching them all from the shadows for nearly the whole festival. His lusus didn't mind at all. He liked Cesfer to stay out of the way as he had fun on his own. Of course, the clawed beaver could not make mooncakes, or play any of the games, but he could interact with other lusii, and there were plenty of places for him to do so away from the trolls.

By the end of the festival night, Cesfer was tired. There had been so many things to watch, so many people to silently cheer (and boo) for. The conflict between wanting to go to the people and wanting to stay hidden had drained him, and Cesfer was ready to go home long. With stealthy, nervous attempt to weave through the crowd to tug at his lusus' tail and some persuasive whining, Cesfer convinced his lusus to leave... But Cesfer's efforts were not unseen.

“Hello there, darlin!” called a voice. Cesfer turned to see an adult troll waving at him. He moved behind his lusus, noting the troll's blood color – yellow. Yellow was good.

“Hi...” he said shyly.

“Wanna play a game, darlin? It's real simple like, and you could get yourself a box of fruit as a prize!” the troll waved a small crate of brightly colored fruits, teasing his nose with sweet smells.

“Umm...” She was yellow. She wasn't going to backstab him or hurt him or trick him. She was safe. “Okay!” he said, holding his lusus' chubby body tightly as he approached, “Whats the game?”

She handed him an inflatable bouncing object – a ball. “See this thing? You throw it through that yonder hoop. If you can do it, you get a prize. First throw is free as a chirpbeast, darlin.” she winked, “Go ahead!”

Cesfer beamed at her, forgetting (as he often did) that he was hidden by a mask, and threw the ball. It bounced off the board behind the hoop.

“Ohhh, too bad darlin, 10 beetles for another go?” he paid. He tried again.

And paid. And tried again.

And paid again. And tried again... and, finally, the ball went through the hoop. “Good job, darlin!” the troll handed him the berries. They smelled so tasty, so ripe! “You wanna go again?”

Cesfer nodded.

By the time he, exhausted, finally broke away from the festival he had spent quite a few beetles and had several crates of tasty sweet figs and berries of bright juicy colors. In the end, despite the cacophony of amazing things, the ball game was the only part of the festival he remembered.

A-trekking through the woods I go!
Troll: Sarcel Cincil
Inventory: City Slicker’s Field Guide to Farmland, Super Protein Snack Bars, Potato Sack, Daywalker Spray

Location: Relief Station
Choice Picked: B. trekkin up those mouTains
Item Used: --

Mushroom Count: 3

Stamina: 10/10

Honestly, Sarcel hadn't been all that aware of the rotting log, being caught up in Alifax's, uh, excitement? Okay well, she was kind of getting into it too; the bag in her hands was heavy and twitching with their captured meal, and honestly this snoutbeast would just complete it easily. Of course, she hadn't expected the log to break, nor had she expected Alifax to actually use the dynamite.

But, well, here they were. Her head was spinning just a little, but through it all she still registered the death grip she had on the potato sack. All else, the fish was safe. Sarcel was more than willing to accept the hand presented to her, pulling herself back up. "s**t happens..." she was mostly glad to remain unscathed, save for a few bruises that she knew would probably pop up.

Actually, speaking of that, was that a relief station? It was sort of an odd place, but Sarcel supposed it was convenient for them, and she did have some left over beetles... why not? She wasn't sure if this spray would come in handy or not, but the medkit would surely be helpful. She took the time to clean up a few cuts while Alifax took his turn in line.

"Eh? Yeah, I'm fine..." she looked up the rocky slope as she spoke. She'd made plenty of climbs up Busthind before, so she was fairly confident in her ability to handle herself. "Looks like this guy is too," she held the bag up and shook it, making silent mention to the fish. Between that and the protein snacks, their picnic could be salvaged yet.

A-trekking through the woods I go!
Troll:Aconan Eyulft
Inventory:
Super Protein Snack Bars
Night Vision Goggles
Daywalker Spray
Mushroom Snufflin' Gerbils
Colourful Yarn Balls

Location: Woodland Outpost
Choice Picked: A
Item Used: if you are not using an item, leave blank

Mushroom Count: 8

Stamina; 8/10

Okay so it turned out that maybe following the river hadn't been the /best/ idea on account of the fact that snoutbeasts had already cleared most of the mushrooms from this path - she could see their trails, and the stubby stumps of fungi that had been mostly eaten in the case of the little snoutbeasts, or upturned earth where bigger tuskbeasts had dug for more food. Still, she had managed to find a slightly bedraggled but still reasonably sized mushroom and stick in in the satchel where the others had been stored. It was a little more dissapointing to only find a singular mushroom than her previous bountiful (or at least semi-bountiful) finds, but, she reassured herself, it was better than no mushrooms at all!

And then her head flicked up in unison with Loupsus's as they heard the movement of small animals. The almost hungry [removed](despite having eaten a snack bar) faded into confusion as a troll appeared in the flood of animals, offering stuff for sale. Aconan frowned. What a weird place to have a stand...She shook her head.

"My apologies. I do not have any beetles."

The older troll looked almost crestfallen, and Aconan hurried away, heading for the darker route as that seemed like it would bring more mushrooms.

Results for November 24-25:
If you are traveling from the Woodland Outpost:
      A) You enter the darkening tunnel of vines and emerge in a nearly untouched patch of woodland. In your luck, there is a great deal of flora to be seen! You’re not certain which is a mushroom and which is not, but you pluck a lot of them just in case. Gain 4 mushrooms and lose 1 stamina. You are now located in the Unknown Wilds.
      B) With relative success you make your way down the steep path, picking a couple of morsels as you climb down (but nearly falling as you do so)! Gain 2 mushrooms and lose 2 stamina. You are now located in the Overgrown Valley.
      Item Results:
      N/A

If you are traveling from the Relief Station:
      A) The mossy trail quickly becomes overgrown with vines! Your feet plunge through the soft moss and get tangled in the mess. You gain 2 mushrooms and lose 2 stamina. You are now located in the Overgrown Valley.
      B) The rocky trail quickly turns into solid slabs of huge earth, and as the travel gets easier so does the view of the surrounding area. Gain 4 mushrooms and lose 1 stamina. You are now located in the Treacherous Trench.
      Item Results:
      N/A

If you are traveling from the Hillside Outpost:
      A) Going around the foothills takes a great amount of time, and when you turn out of sight of the Outpost you see that the path becomes incredible perilous. You end up scuttling down it so as to avoid breaking your ankles. Gain 2 mushrooms and lose 2 stamina. You are now located in the Treacherous Trench.
      B) The fresh air of the mountain trail rejuvenates you! On the pine trees you find lots of lichen and fungus and have your pick of the buffet. Gain 4 mushrooms and lose 1 stamina. You are now located in the Loamy Foothills.
      Item Results:
      N/A

Choice for November 27-28:

If your location is the Unknown Wilds:
Sounds of creatures begin to close in. As you trek on you spot an opening amongst the vines and immense old trees… And deep breathing emerges from inside. A huge roar can be heard! The other direction, the trees ominously begin to die out and wither. Some light from the sky is filtering through eerie, clawlike branches.
      A) Pass by the creature’s den carefully
      B) Bypass the den through the old dead woods

If your location is the Overgrown Valley:
Everything seems much larger and more grand in the Valley – prehistoric, perhaps. As huge insects fly above you begin to feel very small, and deem the area as somewhere to pass through quickly rather than dally. A patch of lush flowers leads down a steep hill, circled by curling vines and accompanied by shining dew.
      A) Cut through the flowers
      B) Walk straight through the valley

If your location is the Treacherous Trench:
The trench is minimally forested, primarily boasting sparse trees and crusty outcroppings. It has a deep slope downward, apparently carved out by something or other… And that something or other appears to be heading right towards you! A heavy rock slams down the trench, right towards you.
      A) Find refuge in the mountainside
      B) Retreat uphill

If your location is the Loamy Foothills:
The brisk air of the loamy foothills accompanies the increasing incline. Mostly moss and loam with little tree cover, you begin to travel in a more chilly direction hoping for some unique fungus in this rather unconventional location. Suddenly, you notice many hoofprints stamped out in the soft ground.
      A) Follow the signs of the fauna
      B) Climb the foothills to steeper ground

The next choice will be posted on November 29th.
