"Even the greatest of legends can be felled by the smallest of tragedies..."As Ebiro had cleaned his sword after using it as a teaching stick against that demon, he went back to his can of natto that he was heating up. As he stared at the can, he remembered another person that he had interacted with during his travels around: Hinako Kujou. His first interaction with the girl was that she was a kind and sweet person, and quite honest. As Hinako and him had interacted more, her criticism on him easily grew, especially when he had proclaimed that he was a zombie, and she retorted that she was a dancing zombie. Though, after he had gotten to know the girl more, and how much dancing meant to her, his opinion of her grew more and more as he met every so often. But, that one time where he had shown her his mouth, the one big secret he held behind a cloaked collar, she was immediately scared off by it. But after a bit of time having thought it over, it did grow to a bigger understanding between the two of them. Even now, Ebiro chuckled at her final response over her realization that she had became associated with a zombie, over a hundred years old at that. "...I guess that makes me a vampire now, huh Ebiro?"  He had won...fair and square. And as much as it made her angry and disappointed at herself... she knew what she needed to do now. He poked fun at her as he held his hand out for her to grab, and Luvia couldn't help the dangerous glare sent his way as the pink haired drummer helped her up to her feet. "You didn't. I saw it in your eyes." Teasing each other always helped... and despite the circumstances, they fell into their usual rapport.
Though.. the heavy air between them couldn't be easily dispelled, and almost as if he sensed that, his next words were serious, his attention turned to her. Dark blue eyes lowered to the ground as he gave his explanation, the girl biting her lip to keep herself from interrupting. She was tense, and she always was reluctant to hear him out at all. "But... you already were on the top in our world..." she sounded defeated, a heavy sigh escaping her lips.
Still... his take on this ideal was different from what Hotsuin thought. His view of this world was... less strict... less rigorous. Maybe if he... were to be on top... the less fortunate wouldn't have it bad. "I..." Her gaze returned to him... and she searched for something... anything... in those eyes that would give her the strength to keep forward. Even if... she turned her back to the world she had grown and lived in.
"This new world better be the damn best thing ever. Make sure it is." She would join him. They would fight this together.

We're going to be there, aren't we?" the drummer curled the corner of the lips and let his hand find the girl's shoulder, patting it comfortingly before at last turning back to face the city and the world beyond together again. Whatever the day had for them, wherever that son of a b***h Benetnasch was, they were going to be ready for it. He knew that it was tough for her to willingly put her lot behind the world that he had chosen, but at the same time, he knew that in such a world she was more than capable of standing out and thriving in a way that many others would not. Just like he would...and just like everyone in his band would, if that was how the world turned out.

Luvia laughed despite herself. "Wouldn't you like that? Emperor Touma...Heh." Though, he always had a way to make her smile, despite the situation. "Your Excellency... What are to do now?" she giggled as she bumped against him playfully with her shoulder, before turning her attention to the pack of Garms ahead.
She felt the energy flowing through her, her feet levitating from the ground as she launched herself at the demons. "We are having a conversation here! Go away!" She snapped as she lowered herself to the ground once again... the canine demons disappearing into the thin air.

"What's not to like? I think it rolls off the tongue quite nicely," the drummer laughed that deep, amused laugh that only seemed to come out when he was deeply pleased and amused by something at the same time. And then something else he enjoyed was watching the white-haired girl show off just how much she had grown by utterly obliterating an entire pack of demons that would have made minced-meat of her on the very first day of this Calamity. Humanity, particularly those like her that were strong but had not yet realized their potential, had grown immensely over the last week...and if ever they were ready for a world where those who had merit were to lead, it was in this time when they had been forced to do just that. People like her, like himself, like...
"Sano Gallen. Hard to imagine after that stunt before Megrez they let you join the Meritocracy Plan," his voice pierced distance between he and the Messiah that he had spotted in the ambush formation along with Fumi and some of the others just waiting for a shot to pick off an enemy and increase their numbers, "Then again, I guess you aren't without some merit. You can be...Assistant Vice-Chef in the New World. Provided you actually know how to handle a blade."
He was mostly just teasing the poor b*****d, but he had a feeling it might get under his skin. At the least, it would provoke a response he could laugh at. It was tense right now, even if nobody wanted to admit it. The fate of the world was on the line, and every fight only drew them closer to the end. So you guys work hard, while I live it up, got it?""They say when you're defensive it means you're hiding your own incompetence," the drummer countered smoothly, before adding just so the Messiah wouldn't think he was actually trying to start a fight, "But I've seen you in battle. You're not a complete waste. We'll just see who gets the better of whom in the next world." He smirked and began to move away from Sano towards the Headquarters where he could take the girl who had gone through a couple possessions now to recover for a few moments before returning to the fight. But as he went he couldn't help tossing over his shoulder.
"When we get there. Not 'if'. Get me?"

"Who was that? He had a nasty mood... nastier than yours." She smirked as she looked at the drummer from the corner of her eyes, before turning to the road ahead, the Headquarters close. She had to admit she was exhausted... those possessions really did take their toll on her. She would be good as new in no time, though! She just...needed...to sit... down. She felt her head swimming...and for a moment the girl felt the ground beneath her turning. "Woah..." A hand moved to take his arm, using him as support for a second, before pushing herself back upright. "Almost there. Do they have food back in HQ? I...could use some cake right now. It's funny how you crave the silliest things, right?"

So you guys work hard, while I live it up, got it?"She nearly fell but he'd caught her without missing a beat, helping her to steady herself as they continued on towards the base. A few demons had filled in the path back towards the Headquarters but he eliminated them with very little issue and a swipe of his Okuninushi's vaunted weapon. Cake, huh? He almost wanted to laugh at how she could think of cake at a time like this, but then, now that he thought about it there wasn't much HE wouldn't do right now for a chocolate devil's food cake with a bit of rum and spice mixed into the batter. With a side of rum and cola. And a steak grilled with a seasoned flavor rub with a rum base. Maybe he just wanted a drink?
"I'll tell Sako to have the cooks whip that right up for you," the drummer quipped, helping her through the door before letting her head over to sit down and rest on her own. He stayed near the door in case they needed him for an attack or an ambush coming their way. Had to always be ready right now, even when they were taking a breather. She sat down and took his wrist before he could leave, the girl shifting her gaze to the floor, almost as if it was the most interesting thing in the room. She let go, fidgeting with the sleeves of her sweater, before turning a shy look at him. "Could you stay here for a little bit? You need to rest as well..." She enjoyed his company, and it was true it would be bad for him to overexert himself, but... more than anything... she didn't want to be left alone.
It was then that a loud noise was heard outside...and she could hear and see people moving towards the entrance. What was that? Luvia looked at her companion and she jumped back to her feet, before following behind the others. The Septentrione was attacking! And she was there resting... she needed to help.
But when the time came... her demons didn't react to her summons, and worry settled on her stomach as her eyes locked on the looming figure. The white haired girl covered her arms above her head, in a useless attempt to protect herself... when a sole demon appeared before her. Trumpeter... The sound the trumpet emitted was ear shattering... but enough for the monster to more in another direction, the girl coming out of that one with her life.
"Oh, god. That... was way too close." Why... hadn't it worked?

One moment they had been having a conversation in the safety of the lobby together and the next there was a Septentrione outside wreaking havoc on their ambush formation! He never should have let his guard down...he knew it, but he had gone and done it anyway! Touma cursed under his breath as she ran past him and nearly suffered for her mistake; diving out of the way of an attack he rolled up in front of her and sent out his Okuninushi...only see his devil dismissed as though it had never been there in the first place! His eyes widened...s**t, what was THAT?!
"That thing is ******** crazy," he muttered under his breath from just in front of the girl, still shielding her in a way as he watched it move on, tearing holes in their defense with impossible ease, "Bullets aren't even phasing it...demons get dismissed like nothing...can we even hurt it?
