Nice digs you've got here," a chill man in a striped hat and suit smiled as he entered the throne room before he could be announced, seriously cheesing off the crier but amusing the King enough to make it easily tolerable...his lazy smile as he held a comic book between his fingers and opened it casually belied how little he seemed to be worried about being in the heart of 'enemy' territory, "Really improved from the last time I saw you. ...Anyway, your friend Ellie sent me down here to check out your Shounen Chump. I figured you wouldn't mind, so I've got it here. Gotta read my 'Blech' and 'Daruto', right? Ha ha..."
He actually didn't seem too concerned with a response, leaning up against a seat in the theater to continue reading with a rather eased focus...occasionally laughing or changing expression due to whatever he saw on screen. And from his throne, Haruto was totally fine with that. He was right, after all...got to read that Shounen Chump! He'd already read it twice since he found it. What good was being king if you couldn't share the love?
"Welp! That's enough for now. Got to go see my GF, know what I mean?" the man pushed up and started towards the door without another word, smiling as though he had some secret that thoroughly amused him. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."Time passed after the appearance of the flaky Joe, members of the Harutopia working on their own individual projects..meanwhile the King had taken a short break to relax back in his study (projection room), considering what the next step to take was. The Police Station...it was the only answer. They had safe rooms, some supplies, and they could make sure those drugs didn't fall into the wrong hands from the Evidence Locker. ...Seriously, that was the plan. Get rid of the drugs. What kind of guy did you think Haruto was? I mean, sure the mushrooms at least were edible, but...he wasn't that kind of guy! Why do I have to justify myself to you?! Shut up!
"Harutopians! The decision has been made," he began as he came out onto the projection screen stage again, his sabbatical over, "Send a runner to Mandingo. "...The silence echoes through me, like the voices of the ones I've lost. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."On the road to the Police Station there had been a few stray demons, but nothing of particular note. Haruto at the front, Mandingo at his side, there was a sizable force of battle-ready summoners behind them as they reached the front of the station...but the devils within could be heard and they sounded fierce. Holding up his hand to stop the advance, the King of Harutopia suddenly had a plan. They needed more firepower...they needed...the FROST FIVE!
"Earth! Fire! Wind! Water! Heart! By your powers combined...I summon thee..." he cried out as he stepped before his army and raised the app to the air! And from it, the demons burst forth...a five-man band of multi-colored Frostys full of energy and heroic power! Each landed in turn, leaping into the air and calling out their names!
"When the...Strawberry, Blue Hawaii, Lemon, Melon, and Milk Frosts combine their powers, they form the superhero group Frost Five!"

It's the Frost Five Rangers!" a little girl beamed as the Frost Five finished off the last of the demons and emerged from within the station as streaks of color and personality, leaping and high-fiving and posing in the wake of their victory...and holding the little girl's hand was a woman, blonde and in a doctor's white coat...smiling gently down and holding her hand, "That's right, just don't get too close Koharu...it might not be safe." Her name was Otome Yanagiya, and her 'daughter' Koharu seemed to be absolutely in love with the colorful little 'Rangers' as they played around and returned to their summoner...the young man with the stud earring, jumping up and down and recounting their battle in detail to entertain their boss. She couldn't help but wonder what role he had in it, but then it suddenly hit her. "Mommy, is that guy 'Gor-Don'? The leader of the Frost Five Rangers? He looks different...he's not bald." She honestly had no idea what to say to that...except to smile apologetically when the sudden quiet allowed the young man to hear the little girl, turning his head to her and smiling faintly.
"Don't worry, Miss. Thanks to the Frost Five Rangers, you're free to pass through here unharmed!" he played along for the girl's benefit, even if the fighters who had followed him looked at him like a total dork, "Everyone is welcome in Harutopia as long as they have no ill intentions. We're going to work together and survive this things...and these little guys will be our Secret Weapon! Right guys?"

It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."Once the doctor and her child had passed, Haruto and the rest of the fighters had moved into the station and cleaned up any of the stragglers that they could find to make sure that it was completely save to occupy in the days to come. Harutopia had at last expanded into the Police Station after several false starts and supply raids; the only remaining question was what to name this new Province of their growing Kingdom. And who would look after it while he wasn't around? Glancing over the crowd just beyond the front gate, it was hard to really find anyone who had stood out since it was his Jack-San Five that had done the dirty work.
Still, he had to make a choice...but who could it be? That would be the question he faced...but for now, mercifully, he simply did his best to get the place ready. Finding the keys, opening the cells, fluffing the beds, breaking open vending machines for food...all important things to make this place more habitable. That stash of donuts he had found in one of the officers' foot locker, though? That one was ALL him. King had to have SOME perks, right? ...Right?

It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."In the end, he had shared the donuts with some of the parents who wanted to move into the station for extra security (cells with cages to keep out demons were certainly appealing to desperate people, though he wasn't sure they would hold against anything strong enough to hold up a train...and that was just an Obariyon!), who in turn, gave them to the kids as Haruto had intended. He had one or two himself, though, but that was barely enough to whet the appetite for more.
Oh well, it didn't always pay to be King, but he still had that stash of Pheromone Coffee over at Chagall, which he also needed to name a Governor to eventually. Pheromone Coffee...mm...which would have been GREAT to eat with DONUTS!

A traitor and a mole from the Stone Temple Pilot Bloodhound Gang had taken a stab at him on the outside of the station as he had been about to head back to his base...but alas! It had been foiled! As the knife brushed his ribs a sudden streak of rainbow colors plowed into the man's chest and knocked him a**-over-tin-cup until he came up seeing stars with swirly eyes, pinned down by five of the most badass snowmen you would ever see! And colorful, too! They bounced on him and cheered, turning towards the King as though expecting some kind of reward for what they had done, and though he was tempted to say that it was their job...he decided that since he actually had been likely about to die...it was best if he rewarded them with something.
"Then, by the power vested in me as King of Harutopia, I hereby proclaim the Frost Five...official Mascots and Protectors of the Frostfinger Manor! And you shall be Governors of this territory of Harutopia henceforth and forever more! I thank you..."

'Cause that's what happened again, only worse since they were so hyped up after their promotion to leaders of this little community. He sighed...great, he was really under fire now. How was he supposed to deal with the Septentriones when death was waiting for him around any corner? How could he administrate a nation?

It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."It was almost comical when an Obariyon jumped out from an alley to take a swipe at him just moments after two avoided deaths, but the King of Harutopia wasn't having ANY of that. One backhand crushed the thing's face, and in an instant the Frost Five were on him...reveling in any chance to show off their prowess to the King who had made them Governors. Of course, they hadn't decided which of them would be the true governor...or all of them...and sure enough they'd soon fight over that with each other.
One step at a time, though. Haruto sighed and started the journey back to Harutopia with a victory in hand, but a humbled, disappointing realization on his back. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."On the journey home they had encountered more than a few devils, but together with his tired soldiers they had fended them off admirably. And all of these attacks were really evidence of a bigger problem plaguing the kingdom right now that had to be dealt with. The problem was big, blue, fat, dumber than a box of rocks, and Haruto would have bet his entire box of now-devoured donuts that the hunk of muscle and stupid-terror was SLEEPING RIGHT NOW! He sighed as he finished the last foe at the front door of his Kingdom, the Cineplex, and immediately grabbed one of the runners by the door.
"Go to the gate and wake that Troll up and tell him to start DOING HIS DAMN JOB!" the King growled grumpily, before letting out a breath and returning to the throne. He didn't like yelling in front of the survivors, but really, this was his life he was talking about. He liked being alive. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all...""You were right, sir...we caught the big lug sleeping," one of his more recognizable followers told the King when he came in the door from the investigation, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead, "He's awake now, and he apologizes for his mistake. He promises to do better, and says that from now on, if you want, he will exact a toll to better screen who gets in and out. I assume that's just because, you know, trolls like taking tolls, but it isn't the worst idea. I told him to go for it for now, but your word can overturn that, of course."
Haruto sighed...a toll was shitty on survivors, he'd send a runner to overturn it just to be safe. Still, at least the big guy was awake now, troll toll or no troll toll.

It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."It had been the moment he was dreading since the last encounter with the monster on the outskirts just after settling Mandragora...but it was inevitable, wasn't it? How many times had it nearly killed him, nearly wrecked what he had set up in this place with the people who had come to rely upon him?! The alarm (bell) sounded out loud throughout the Kingdom of Harutopia and no commands needed to be given immediately. Every man and woman who could fight, every demon they commanded, every Province was out in numbers...united against a common foe that could end each and every one of them. First to the border where the giant ring-shaped monster was starting its rampage was Troll, thundering fists slamming into the wrong ring...doing little damage at all...but the garrison from the Chagall Cafe managed to convince it to attack another half...wait, half?! Yes, as the true assault of Phecda began the thing had split into two halves...each side of it negating a different type of attack. Magic on one side, physical on the other...and the combined force of the garrison and the Troll weren't putting a real dent in either.
It was at this moment that the second troupe arrived, this time from the nearby Province of Jacktown. Rainbow streaks of color smashed mercilessly as they launched their ice and variety of magics into the two halves of Phecda... "We are...the Frosty Five! Hee-fenders of Haru-ho-pia!" the leader challenged as the others continued the assault, followed up by their leader...and it was these five demons' attacks that first put a c***k in the monster's armor. It wasn't enough, though...and a pulse of electricity sent every one of them falling back. Harutopia's defense had truly begun; the barrier of bodies and magic fighting against the Septentrione slowed, but could not stop it. And into the heart of the territory it began to creep; the screams of men and women fighting, fleeing...tragedy was on the verge of breaking out in the peaceful land...
...And then a voice, heroic, crying out above all suddenly pierced the darkening night air! Like a light she shimmered and her steel was JUSTICE, like a falling star she descended from a rooftop with her blade in hand and clove a gash in the magically-resistant Septentrione that gushed forth thick violet liquid...and on the physically-resistant one a blue devil crested a nearby building and unleashed blue, almighty power that smashed it and sent chips of its ring fluttering away! They were damaging it! Ellie Troit, the wondrous governess, had put a dent in the monster! ...And yet it was still coming...inevitably, bearing down. Her sword sliced, but the lightning struck at her feet and forced her back. She could fight, but alone...could she win?! Her teeth grit as she, alone, stood against the Septentriones as others fell back and the Frosty Five regained their magical power in the background, tending to the wounded Troll. Attacking again and again...a heroic stand...but alone, with just her sword and Satan...was it enough?! Another strike! No...she was tossed back...it wasn't...Troitown, was it going to...?!
...
And then the horns sounded.
Horns of battle. Horns of the cavalry. Horns of victory.
Looming down the road was the rest of the fighters of the Harutopian Army. And standing proudly atop buildings on either side of the road, just above the Septentriones, were two men...a man with a stud earring, the King of Kings in this land...and a man with a leather hat, crocodile-skin vest, a knife to end all knives...
"Wait, two? But I only see one...?"
Now isn't the time for that revelation, Ellie!
Haruto stood proudly and stepped to the edge of the building...gleaming in the moonlight like a savior descending upon his people. His smile was gentle and confident and warm as a summer breeze, and when he looked at the green-haired heroine who had done more to protect this land than anyone could have, he nodded proudly. That was why he had chosen her, after all...
"Now then, Phecda," he turned his attention to the monster, his army charging below into combat with the demons that came in the Septentrione's wake and reinforced Ellie's battle, "You've threatened my land, my people, and my donuts for the last time! On my honor as a King, I swear to you that this is the day...the hour...nay, the moment that you die! For those who have fought...those who have died...I pass judgment upon you, and your life...IT'S JUST BEEN REVOKED!" Taking a couple steps back, he drew his blade...and with a running leap he jumped (?!?) off of the top of the building down at Phecda, blade plunging down...down...!
"FOR HARUTOPIAAAAAAA!"
******(Record scratching noses)******
"Wait a minute! Wait a minute, you egotistical idiot! That's not how that happened! You did NOT jump off the top of a building to kill the Septentrione! We were fighting it as a TEAM and you just HAPPENED to land the killing blow! And that doesn't even cover what happened to the second...-" Saito's voice cried out suddenly, indignant...seriously, did this man have no bounds to his egotism?!

"Protest denied! It's my story, I'm telling it how I want to! Now then..."
******(Record scratching noses)******
"FOR HARUTOPIAAAAAA!"
Gallantly the King descended, plunging his blade into the heart of the Septentrione's ringy-ness, letting his weight then drag the blade down through its body down one side and the other...ripping it open and letting the life spill from within! It squealed in its incomprehensible language but the damage was done..the King at last landed his feet upon the ground in a pose, his blade covered in Septentrione blood...face splattered with purple life essence...and behind him, the monster that had plagued so many at last collapsed at his feet...
And as it fell an explosion suddenly filled the air, rising up like a mushroom cloud into the sky...but Haruto did not look back, only up and at the loyal and brave constituents of his Kingdom...his lips curling into the most easy and confident of smirks.
"Yes, I am that awesome..."

 Ellie Troit, Heroine, and Ruler of Troitown!! A tough encounter indeed....
Ellie watched as worker after worker wrestled viciously with a pickle jar. Pixie, kobold...Not even the masterful Jester could manage to open it!
An accomplishment that even the greatest and most powerful of demons she commanded, Satan couldn't manage.
"Hand it to me." she commanded, the large demon extending his pinky down with the jar. A hand lifted into the air...A twist of the lid...And..!Pop!"Success!" Ellie called, gesturing up. Another task, accomplished by the Heroine of Justice! Oh, and some JPs agents circled around, but were generally scared off by the figure that was easily bigger than the whole building...wearing a fitting ['Kiss the Cook'] Apron.
