The trip back through the Petalburg Woods was far faster then Eon initially thought it would be. After getting back on the main road, it was but a short few hours before they finally saw the sky-scrapes looming in the horizon. Eon really wanted to avoid the busy streets once more, opting to take the path she'd remembered when she'd traveled with Sera. It hurt her heart though once she'd spotted Sera's house... Not a sign of life inside it. It made her fear for Sera. "I hope she's okay." Eon muttered, getting a quirked brow in response via Luffy. He only caught snippets of memories revolved around the girl floating around Eon's jumbled mind. Saga nodded, able to give Luffy a more detailed picture of who Eon was speaking of. The feline lowered his gaze, he felt it wasn't right to comment.

A cool chill caught Eon off guard as she entered the main street, just a short distance from the entrance to the city. Glancing up she noticed an approaching series a clouds. Likely a storm. "Looks like a storm is brewing. We should really hurry and get to Oldale at least before the storm hits." Eon commented. Saga nodded. Even if she was a grass-type she wasn't a fan of rain or lightning for that matter. Lighting almost always caused fires. Picking up their pace slightly, Eon kept her gaze up on the clouds, wondering how bad the storm was going to be. It was late into the year, and while Hoenn was often always sunny and tropical, it's storms were nothing to sneeze at. They could be in for a big one. All the more reason to get inland, which was Oldale.

Glancing down at Saga, Eon noticed she was finding holding the fossil rather difficult. With her less then 1oo% arm, the heavy fossil was proving more of a challenge then she'd thought it would be. Luffy caught on pretty quick, floating down to Saga's shoulder to lift up the fossil a bit before simply using his esp to hold it in the air. The feline made a joke of it by floating below the fossil, as if he was actually carrying it. "How is your arm, Saga?" Eon inquired. the gecko lifted it slightly, shrugging as she did so. "Does it hurt?" She asked. Saga shook her head. The medication Nurse Joy had given her was still in full effect. "If you start feeling pain again, just let me know, Saga." Reaching down she patted the gecko on her head, receiving a affectionate grin in return.

Petalburg City was quickly becoming her least favorite city. For three times now she was passing through it. And if all went according to plan, she'd make a fourth trip fairly soon. She'd come to notice after two pass-through, the gym that rested in the northern reaches of the city. A normal-type gym. While she was certain she had everything covered when it came to normal-types, she wasn't going to count her torchics before they hatched. She needed three more badges before she could challenge this gym, according to the sign posted outside. Her next gym wasn't to far off, but it made her wonder just who she'd use in a Fighting-type gym. she pondered how Gio had fared in the battle.

Thinking of Gio suddenly reminded Eon of something very important. "I forgot to ask for a Pokegear!" She shouted suddenly. Hiding her face in sudden embarrassment she quickened her pace. Saga glanced up with a grin while Luffy gave Eon a curious glance. 'Pokegear?' He inquired. "It's a device used to call others..." She replied. "I can't believe I forgot." Raising a hand to her head she couldn't hold back a laugh. "I guess he'll find that funny." Luffy floated down to Eon shoulder then with a paw he pointed towards a nearby billboard. An image of a human holding up the gear to their ear and talking beside an image of another person looking at something on the gear. 'You mean those things?' Eon's gaze traveled up, finding the billboard. "Yea." She replied. A store name was pasted on the bottom side the billboard, just over the actual building the store was inside. "I wonder how much they are?" She didn't have much money left on her. She also doubted this would be another 'win a battle and you can have one for free' scenarios. Whatever the case it didn't hurt to check.

As expected, the pokegears were far out of her price range. And there certainly wasn't any sort of deal she could strike up. Perhaps the next time she was in Rustboro she could ask Mr. Stone for one, but for now her journey was taking her south. She'd just have to keep in contact some other way. Perhaps she could use a Pokemon center phone to contact Gio and get his location, from there she could send him a letter perhaps? Well, there really wasn't any point in that if she could just speak to him over the phone. With a unhappy mood, Eon left the store empty handed, once more setting across the city until she reached Mr. Briney's hut.
Lucky for her, the old man was home. He was also willing to take her back to Dewford, and even to Slateport if needed. She happily accepted, not expecting to spend to much time in Dewford. Maybe a bit more training in the Granite cave. Either way it wouldn't take more then a day or two.

With Pokedex in hand and tracker going, Faraday headed out the route gate from Oldale Town and towards Petalburg City. It was a fortunate coincidence that the Mismagius was wandering out in the forests in the exact direction he needed to be heading. Murphy wiggled in his shirt from time to time in what he could only assume was excitement, while Dresden watched their surroundings from his shoulder. A little further walking and Faraday finally found himself in the general area of the blip on his screen.
"Hmm," Faraday remarked, rubbing under his chin as he scanned the area. This was apparently the place where Calcifer was lurking, which had him curious. What exactly was around this area that was worth looking into? It seemed pretty much like a standard forested area. Actually as he thought about it, he needed to check into an area to train in. He wanted to get them training as soon as possible so he could get this badge and be done.
"Calcifer?" He called out and when there was a lack of reply, took the next best option which was to think aloud. Actually, that should’ve been his first option, but there was always the chance that some other psychic or ghost type was lingering around to listen in. It was a good habit to get into at least trying to locate his pokemon vocally first, when it was viable. "Calcifer? What are you doin-"
"Over here." The voice of his pokemon suddenly chimed in the back of his mind, his head snapping around in a particular direction. It wasn’t as though the Mismagius was actually speaking after all, but over time the detective had learned to cue in on the directions from the communication. That or Calcifer had taught him to do it unconsciously; the pokemon had a way of manipulating the communication to do that sort of thing.
Dresden gave Faraday a curious look as his attention changed, his own looking in the same direction. He hadn’t heard the voice, but was well aware what this shift in gaze must’ve meant. Murphy gave a little chirp, glancing at the pair staring off into the forest with a curious expression. She had no idea what was going on or even who they were looking for after all. She gave another little wiggle in the confines of Faraday’s shirt a little “Mud~?” of curiosity escaping. What were they looking for?

"Huh, alright then." Was Faraday’s response out loud, causing the poor Mudkip to become even more confused. Dresden seemed to pick up what was going on, giving a little huff and hopping down from Faraday’s shoulder before bounding his way forward, the detective right on his bunny heels.
It wasn’t long until trainer and company found the missing ghost pokemon or the strange little creature he had managed to corner as well. Faraday frowned a bit at the sight of Calcifer hovering over some foreign pokemon he’d never seen before. The thing seemed rather miffed, arms folded over its chest as it sat slumped on the ground. It looked a bit roughed up all things considered, though whether that was the fault of Calcifer or some outside source, Faraday couldn’t quite tell.
"Is this what you went looking for?" Faraday inquired, flipping off the tracking application on his pokedex and returning to its normal scanner mode to get a read on what the pokemon was. It looked a bit like a kitten now that he considered it, but wearing some… witch garb? That was actually sort of interesting in a way.
"A… Magikit?" Faraday frowned a bit at the name the pokedex gave him. Nope, he could certainly say with a hundred percent certainty that he had never heard of this thing before. The Magikit only gave the slightest of acknowledgement at the mention of its species, giving a leery look at Faraday and then Calcifer, who remained hovering over it.
"He’s been following us around for a while now." Calcifer suddenly reported, the narrowed gaze still on the creature. Faraday quirked an eyebrow, glancing at Dresden who seemed equally surprised. "Really now?" The detective gave the slightest of frowns, a hand reaching up to rub under his chin while he returned the pokedex to his bag. The cat-like pokemon squirmed a bit in agitation. Apparently, he didn’t enjoy being tattled on for mischievous deeds. "He’s even messed with some of your trick items, you should know."
"Double really?" Now that was definitely something Faraday hadn’t expected to hear. For a while his trick items that he kept with him had disappeared or malfunctioned, he was on his third set of cards and was still missing a few lock picks, but he’d have never guessed it was a pokemon responsible.
"Well now…," He remarked, his tone a mixture of seriousness and interest. This was certainly a new predicament. Strolling forward, he paused just a foot or so away from the pokemon, Calcifer keeping an eye out so that it couldn’t escape. The Magikit focused on the detective, a mix of curiosity and slight unease on its face. What was this guy going to do to him exactly? It’d been in good fun, pranks and mischief were what his kind did!

The Magikit was still giving a leery stare at Faraday as he stood before him in silence. What was this guy thinking? Was he going to do something to him for messing with his stuff? This Mismagius –what did he call him, Calcifer? – he’d already roughed him up a bit in a surprise attack of his own. What more could this guy possibly do to him?
The pokemon didn’t have a moment more to think about it though as Faraday suddenly clapped his hands together. It startled him and apparently the mud fish residing in the man’s shirt; she gave a squeak and ducked down becoming nothing more than a strange moving lump. The detective paused and looked down to his shirt, head shaking before he fished the pokemon out and handed her to the strange white bunny at his heels.
"Here Dresden, hold Murphy for a moment." He instructed, receiving a stuttered huff from the Buneary. He and Murphy were practically the same size, with her maybe only being a couple of inches smaller. He didn’t have much choice though as the little blue thing was thrust into his care.
With Murphy passed off onto Dresden, Faraday returned his gaze to the strange pokemon. The magic kitten had gone from looking concerned to looking… confused. Faraday knelt down, balancing on his heels in the process as he snapped to gain proper attention.
"So… you’ve been messing with my tricks, hm?" He remarked, green eyes studying the pokemon intensely. The Magikit squirmed again; what kind of look was that. After a lack of response, the detective raised a finger in a matter-o-fact manner. "You know, you should never mess with a magician’s tricks. You could get them hurt. Or killed." The Magikit stared. Wha… what? Faraday ignored the look.
"If Calcifer here decided to hunt you down, then you must be a risk. And I can’t have any risks, I’m afraid." He tilted his head a bit, the slightest hint of a smile etching its way across his face. "So… I’ll let you make a choice."

"Excuse me?" Calcifer’s voice suddenly interrupted, resulting in a glance from the man. The Mismagius gaze was narrowed in concern and focused on his trainer. "Shh, come on Calcifer. Negotiations are necessary, even with tricksters." The ghost didn’t seem to approve of this sentiment, the brim of its implied hat like feature tilting down to shadow his expression further.
"But anyways, I’ll give you a choice." Faraday spread his arms out the side as he spoke, gesturing with one hand and then the other. "I can let you go and Calcifer here will probably hunt you down and beat you up again, because he’s a brute like that." He felt the ghost’s disapproval. "Or… you could join me," Faraday pointed at the Magikit at this remark. "And we could make better use of your skills."
The pokemon just stared at him in a mix of awe and confusion. Had he just… had he just really offered what he did? To let him go free or to go along with him? Did he even want too? This was a sort of unprecedented situation. On one hand, he could go free, probably back to his coven where… ever they happened to be. Of course there was still the looming threat of Calcifer. Would he really hunt him down?
Then there was the other option. He’d found this guy interesting after seeing him perform a few tricks for a group of children. Fairly certain humans didn’t have magic, he started following and fooling around with the trick items he’d found. He’d never intended to mess them up but when the ghost kitten couldn’t figure it out that had been the eventual conclusion.
"Tick tock, tick tock." Faraday’s voice suddenly interrupted the Magikit’s train off though, resulting in a look of alarm. The man was smiling; it didn’t look… dangerous or anything. What was this guy’s deal exactly? The detective just clapped his hands together, still watching the creature.
"So whaddaya say? I promise, I’m a fun guy." Silence. The pokemon seemed to still be considering, Dresden and Murphy watching quietly from behind the kneeling Faraday, Calcifer still hovering in the air with a look of disapproval. Finally, the Magikit propped himself to his feet, patting the short fluff of his cape like fur before giving the man a steady gaze.
"Magi…"
Faraday tilted his head curiously. Keeping his eyes on the pokemon he moved a hand back and retrieved an empty pokeball. "Well then," he remarked, rolling it in the palm of his hand for a moment before finally reaching forward and tapping it against the Magikit’s head. The pokemon flinched as it was sucked into the ball, the thing doing the standard shake and ding.
Faraday grinned, unleashing the pokemon immediately. "Well I’m glad to see you chose to come along," He quirked an eyebrow. "I’m assuming you’re choosing to come alon-" Faraday’s gaze shifted though as the feeling of something flying out of his bag. Everyone’s gaze shifted to look, watching as playing cards ultimately exploded out in a stream to scatter around behind him. Dresden looked slightly startled at the action, Murphy giving a squeak in surprise. Calcifer gave a glare, returning his gaze to the Magikit who was looking off to the side, arms folded over his chest. Faraday just quirked an eyebrow at the mess, giving a little look of disapproval at the Magikit.
"Well... I hope you're interested in playing Fifty-Two pick up... 'cause I'm not cleaning that up."

Eventually the cards were picked up though by who would never truly be known. Faraday made a mental note to buy a new pack just in case one of them had gone missing in the little event; tricks were rather hard when your deck was short any amount of cards, be it one or more. The Magikit didn’t seem at all phased at the action, instead keeping his own eyes on Calcifer. That damn Mismagius was still glaring at him and the little stunt clearly hadn’t improved their relations.
Dresden hadn’t really approved either, but seeing as how Calcifer was already giving the new pokemon enough trouble, he returned his focus to the Mudkip he was supposed to be watching. Murphy had gone to frolic in the spray of cards and he had to restrain her from making the mess any worse. Now they were moving along through and to Petalburg City. With all his pokemon finally accounted for a team that was slowly growing larger than he had intended, he decided it was important to get some training in. The Petalburg Woods were right along the way to Rustboro and well, what better a place a train and to do some thinking?
First he paid a quick trip to the market to see what kind of goods they had. Sure, he could probably call on Addison to get him some nice things, but that also required a bit of explanation on his part to why he needed them and it was just too early for him to be explaining himself. Yet. Maybe later.
Luckily, the detective nabbed himself a couple of heart scales from his little venture. He’d have to do some quick research as they made their way into the forest, but he had a pretty good idea that he could make use of them. With that settled and done, he caroled his little troop along; Dresden kept Murphy in line as she toddled along excitedly, Calcifer keeping the Magikit in his eyesight as well, despite the creature’s constant attempts to sort of disappear. Faraday would have to work out all this animosity before he went on any sort of mission. A team that didn’t work together… would inevitably get him killed. That was bad.

It didn’t take long to get out of the forest and back into Petalburg City. Which was in its own right, both a good and bad thing. Good, because that meant they were one step closer to getting on a boat and heading for Dewford Town, bad because it meant that an amount of time had passed and he still hadn’t heard back from Addison. Usually, his contact was so very prompt in getting back to him if only because it was the best way to keep him from doing anything insane. Or dangerous. Recklessly so.
Of course he could just work on his magic tricks. That was also an option and a very viable one now that he had new additions to his pokemon team. He was keen to get Murphy into the loop and well Sissil too, if the ghost kitten took any interest. Which judging from what he’d gathered briefly from Calcifer there was some kind of interest. He’d actually have to see why it was following after him. Speaking of which, where was that Mismagius? He hadn’t heard back from him either. Was everyone ignoring him and he just didn’t know?
Heading into the city and towards the docks, Faraday opted to check his texts against. There was still nothing from Addison and he was about to send her another message when he received a text of a different color from his sister. She… wanted him to call her? Oh well, he could do that. Actually it was probably a good idea; maybe she knew what was up.

"Hey Chloe."”Rudy.” Faraday gave the slightest of visible winces as his first name was spoken, though the slight smirk that crossed his face was warm. What else did you expect from family? He’d paused on a bench for the moment to rest while he made the call; afterwards he’d find the docks and book himself passage to the next town.
"So, how’s the family?" He inquired, raising a hand and swiping a hand through his hair. His sister seemed to quirk an eyebrow on the other side of the Xtransceiver, the slightest hint of a smirk crossing her face in the process. ”Well your nephews are wondering when you’ll be visiting to show them more magic. They say you owe them ten tricks. Each.” Faraday quirked an eyebrow. Well now that was certainly the count. At about this time Murphy popped her head up and chirped, Dresden hopping up on the bench as well to see. Each pokemon gave their own little greeting, receiving soft smiles in response. ”You really did get a Mudkip.” She remarked in an amused tone. Faraday gave a little huff.
"You know, you’re the second person who seems surprised by that…," He remarked nonchalantly. She just shook her head in response, giving another little greeting to the two, Dresden in particular. Faraday reached up and patted the Buneary gently on the side of the face, redirecting his gaze to his device. "Anyways, I’m sure you didn’t want me calling you to remind me I’m up to my neck in magical IOUs?"
”Of course not. I wanted to make sure you were still alive for one.” The nonchalant tone she had as she said that would’ve concerned the man if he hadn’t known her better. His head just tilted curiously in response though, waiting for her to finish talking. ”And I’ve got another gift for you to pick up. Think of it as a ‘congratulations’ on being a fossil of a trainer.”
The corners of his mouth twitched again. That was certainly something to hear from a sister that was older than him. "A gift? Aw well, I appreciate that." He remarked, moving to stand. He paused a moment before he started moving towards the pokemon center, expression turning serious for a moment. "By the way… have you heard from Addison? She hasn’t contacted me since I got my first badge; it’s not like her." Chloe’s face changed as well, features becoming equally as serious. ”Oh? No. I haven’t.” Was her response. Faraday shrugged a bit.
"Ah… well…" It figured, but it was worth a shot. Though he was still visibly bothered. ”I’ll see if I can contact her. I’ll let you know what I get.” His sister’s voice interrupted, resulting in a small smile of relief, nodding in recognition. "Thank you, I appreciate it." Well, that was some comfort…

A few more minutes of chatting and the call ended. Faraday stepped inside the center and headed for the computer in particular to check for the so called gift he’d been sent. Apparently, it was another pokemon, one of those nifty little odd-colored one’s just like Dresden. She was pretty big about sending him these kind of things actually; she was the one who’d given him Dresden after all. He’d asked her once where she got them only to receive the slightest of smirks in response.
He logged in and did a quick search, quickly locating and retrieving the pokeball in question. He eyed it curiously a moment, checking his box before swiftly logging off as well. He really needed to use air mail more often, now that he considered it. He had a reliable set of wings to use after all; but traveling the distance could always be problematic. Of course, the PCs fritzing out like they did was problematic too. He could wait.
With new pokemon in tow, he stepped back outside. He’d get passage onto a boat to Dewford and then check on this new member of his team along the way. Hopefully, Calcifer would catch up on his own. Whatever he was doing, it was hopefully worth it.

Faraday made his way through the city, heading for the docks located just on the outskirts. It didn't take long to book passage to Dewford; there was apparently only one boat that actually did any traveling between the two places in the first place. With that settled it was only an hour or so wait before he and his team boarded and were on their way to the next town.
While Murphy hap-hazardously enjoyed the spray from the ocean as the boat traveled, Dresden close by to assure that the mud fish didn't fall into the sea, Sissil hung near Faraday as he greeted his new addition to the team. Taking a seat in the firmest place he could find, the detective removed the pokeball from his belt, looking it over and quirking an eyebrow curiously at the name already etched into the ball. "Chromie... hm?" He murmured, glancing at the Magikit currently perched on his shoulder in the process. Sissil's own face read curiosity, a paw over his mouth as his cat-like eyes squinted to read the name for himself. What kind of name was that? Was that what the pokemon was? Or was it meant to imply something else?
"Well let's meet our new friend, why don't we?" Faraday chimed to disrupt the the ghost's thoughts. He held it down and unleashed the pokemon in question, eyebrows raising considerably as the little golden colored Charmander shook her head and squinted her eyes up at him. She seemed to be holding something in her claws as well; an orb? Actually, it seemed vaguely reminiscent of a mega stone. Huh.
"Well hey there. Aren't you a pretty one?" The man gently cooed, reaching a hand out and patting the Charmander on the head. The little lizard blinked a moment, emerald eyes shifting between the man and the kitten ghost before she gave a rather happy loud "Char!" of greeting, her arm immediately flinging above her head though keeping the stone carefully in place. Faraday gave a grin, an eyebrow quirking though as he moved his hand from the top of her head to under it, gently shifting it to the side. She seemed to have this strange ... mark, over her eye. It looked kind of like... a gear?
"Pfft... Chromie. I get it." The detective smirked slightly, leaning back in his chair as the Charmander danced excitedly in front of him. Sissil in the mean time, watched the strange lizard curiously. He'd never quite seen something like this before after all. -
