Kanae stood between the two guys as they both eventually agreed to help. Good. That gave her reasons to spend time with both of them. Both were beneficial to her needs, all of them… really. Her previous over-infatuation with Richard had to end. Sure she needed to pay him adequate attention, but there had to be lines, despite his beautiful body… and luscious touches…
Right.
”Oh stop with the pity me poor folk routine. Let it go.” She rolled her eyes, then smirked at Richard, she couldn’t help but flirt with him, or at least look at him.
Kanae took a cigarette out of the box she had stolen off a table. ”I don’t even know how to smoke one of these, I just heard it a lot throughout the night. People kept excusing themselves outside to smoke. Figured it would work as an excuse… But I don’t even have one of those thingies that makes it burn. You know, the fire starter…?”
Well, that was going to cause a problem. If they didn’t have smoke going on out here surely the guard would notice that…
”Okay. Thank you. Both of you.” She didn’t miss Richard’s near-slip. Anything to help… who again?
Her cheeks were hot, she could feel them reddening again. She had to look away. So, she was thankful that Nic butted in with a question.
Her eyes drifted to Nic, paying attention. Hannah… no, oh, Livingston. Okay, she did a lot of research on them. Richest family in the kingdom, next to the royal family. Mr. Livingston was a confident to Calli’s dad. Their pockets lined each other. One without the other hardly made sense. They were in business together, but also long time friends. Family affairs kept separate, his daughters had never met due to his rules. What did she know about Hannah? And what could she let on to the guys, and what did she need to keep to herself, to conceal her identity? She was walking fine lines here, she had to be careful.
Hannah Livingston was just slightly younger than them, though her exact age wasn’t coming to mind. She was blonde, cute, and petite. She was the perfect little daughter, more or less. But upon closer inspection she seemed over privileged, snobby. She wanted to have fun and act above her age, she saw a few things about her attending clubs around downtown. She seemed fun, but untrustworthy.
”I don’t really know her. I know the Livingston name, though. He’s a big shot around here, in with the boss.” She shrugged, her curls bouncing. ”I didn’t even know he had a daughter, was she here tonight?” Kanae turned to look at Richard, he’d probably know her… considering his past. And he knew everyone, it was his job, right? ”Richard, do you know her?”
The guard was pacing back towards the window, checking on the three. He walked away, giving them only a minute more, before opening the door and peaking his head in.
”Are you all almost finished? We are supposed to escort you… to safety…” He was clearly just uncomfortable with them being outside… They needed somewhere more secluded.
”Uh..” She looked to Richard for help.
I've been so wrapped up in my warm cocoon.,
But somethings happening things are changing soon. I'm pushing the edge..

Richard couldn't help but smirk and snort slightly in amusement when Nae bluntly put Nic in his place. For some reason it was also even better because her eyes turned on hims so fondly immediately after, softening his own look momentarily.
Once smoking was mentioned, despite the strangeness of it, Richard whipped a lighter out of his pocket, offering it to Nae, "lighter?" he inquired, flickering it once with a flip of his thumb in example.
Richard wasn't typically a smoker, but he also had been known to smoke a uh... variety of things... on occasion, and if such occasions rose, well hey.
Talk turned to concerning a girl named Hannah Livingston, not quite sure where this was going, Richard recognized the name. What Nae said regarding it matched up with what he knew.
"Sounds about right. I think I've seen a picture or two, blonde little cutie" he shrugged, "But it sounds like she was almost as sheltered as the Princess. So no I don't know her. Why?" he added, eyebrow raised toward Nae, though the question was really for Nic since he asked. It was almost as if Richard just naturally pushed Nic out of the conversation without trying.
Seeing the guard shuffling around on the edge of his vision, Richard took one of the smokes from Nae and promptly lit it with his lighter and took a couple puffs smoothly, allowing the smoke to his through his teeth.
Then he offered it to Nae, but only shortly before the guard was barging out on them anyway.
Richard turned slightly, broad shoulders stretched and defined as he attempted to use his superior height to cow the guard.
"Does it look like I'm almost finished? Do you see a lit cigarette going around? Does it look almost out?" Richard answered deeply and sarcastically, eyes somewhat threatening as well.
"All things considered, I might let your insolence slide when later convening with the Kings, if you would escort us to my rooms, where maybe we can smoke and discuss this tragedy concerning my future wife in peace. A lot of important things are going on if you hadn't noticed. And if you don't know who I am or where my rooms are by now then you can get out of my way." he said, taking just a slight step forward.
"What was your name, guard?" he asked, the implication being so that he knew who to call out the the important people later if things didn't go exactly his way.
How much could they argue with him going to his damn room? Even if he wanted to bring others with him, they would be "safe" besides... then it was just a matter of kicking the damn gypsy out and then well... he'd have Kanae alone in his bedroom. Hadn't even fully put it together before he was acting it out, but seemed like a damn good plan to him. He would have rather avoided having to invite Nic into his rooms in the first place, but oh well.
'Cause I took that s**t out.

I don't know where I'm going,
But I sure know where I've been Tho' I keep searching for an answer,
I never seem to find what I'm looking for

 Nic was pouting/brooding when the cigarettes came out, causing that question to enter his head as well. He'd smoked before, but not often and he didn't really like it, but if they were supposed to be smoking out here whatever...
He mainly just wanted to focus on the fact that the two of them wanted to help him, or well that Nae wanted both of their help... however you put it, to help Calliope. So at least of those two could get passed thinking he had something to do with it, they might actually get something done. Even if things were still looking pretty damn bleak.
Nic listened briefly to what little they knew of Hannah Livingston, only able to confirm Richard's generic description of the girl and nothing was too helpful... not beyond making everything even more confusing. Nic found it difficult to believe the girl had done this out of jealousy or something like that, but nothing more concrete sounded likely either. They didn't know each other in person before and their parents were close and codependent, right?
"Yeah she was there tonight..." Nic said somewhat absently.
Nic also felt reluctant to say more, feeling exposed and having some trouble containing his shiftiness, seeing the guard watching them so closely from nearby.
Then he came around right after the smoke was lit up Nic felt the sensation of panic threaten to grip him again. Wait- s**t- what were they going to do? It sounded like best case scenario was getting shipped off to separate rooms where they could do nothing! And worse case... Nic didn't want to go there, giving off an involuntary shiver.
That was when Richard spoke up, and Nic though he'd never in his life have been so grateful he had, even if the guy was a ******** up arrogant a*****e. Even now!
Though, Nic supposed the more surprising part was getting invited to the Prince's "rooms".... of course it was only because Nae wanted both of their help and his hand was forced. He never do it if he had the choice. Nic wouldn't want to if he had a better option too anyway.
Unfortunately that meant he would be away from Abu longer though, and Nic really missed his presence already. He wondered if the monkey had somehow still held onto Calli's hairpin....
Oh that had pissed him off though. He had been both grateful and pissed at Richard when he "saved" them, speaking about the tragedy of his "future wife" as if he cared! Nic didn't get the feeling Richard really cared, even if Nae did. His future wife.... why did that just sound so ******** up??? The only thing that's been on my mind

Kanae turned to watch Richard as he yelled at the guard. Normally, she wouldn't have any issues with this. Back home she was in charge and her dad constantly tried to have her followed. She had her fair share of bad run ins with so-called guards. But here, this wasn't her turf. She was just some lowly girl from a small town, no name place. So, she let Richard take the lead. And boy, was it attractive. But Nae had to force herself to focus. More important things were unfolding here.
The guard cleared his throat. "Dean. Dean Albers." He looked around, then landed back on Richard. "Take your time, sir. I'm only trying to look out for your well being, all of you. Whenever you are all ready, I will be happy to escort you safely to your rooms, sir." With that, he shut the door and went back to his pacing.
"Thank gosh we have you, Richard." She couldn't help but smile at his excellent performance. "But now we have until we finish here," She hadn't hit the cigarette, which had now burnt out. But it smelled awful and made her choke anyways, so it fell to the ground. "But I think they'll hover less up in your room, so we should continue this discussion there, yes?" She made eye contact with both men before turning to lead the way.
Upon opening the door, she spoke to the guard. "I believe we are ready to be escorted to the princes hall."

Richard stared the guard down as he finally responded, clearly much more weary now. Then he turned to Nae as she thanked him. He grinned casually at her, keeping poise as she seemed eager to get to his rooms. They had things to talk about sure, but he was looking forward to it for several reasons.
"Yes, we will have much more privacy." Richard agreed, following Nae, still ignoring Nic entirely.
The guard led them through the palace without complaint this time, only stopping at the halls that lead into Richard's suite, basically. His own guards were posted at the doors and they eyed their "tour guide" as if daring him to come closer.
Richard always found the intimidation amusing because he saw right through it with them, but they could look menacing.
"You are no longer needed." Richard dismissed the Banian guard and lead the others toward his door.
"Due to the situation, which I'm sure you've been briefed on... yes?" he waited for nods, and then continued, "We are confined for safety blah blah, but have a lot to discuss. I assured them we would be safer here than anywhere else and not be disturbed."
Richard ignored the slightly amused glint that appeared in the middle guards eye when he mentioned being confined for safety. That had never really worked with Richard in the past very well...
The guards opened the door and Richard walked through into a large room with a fire place. There were several doors that lead to other rooms, such as the bedroom with the balcony and stairs to the beach, and a study, etc. Richard hadn't really had the chance to explore yet, but now he lead them into the study, saving the bedroom for later... So for now, he popped another bottle of wine.
Richard had clearly been given some of the most elegant and elaborate suites, if not the most of all but the King and maybe Princess's, and perhaps his Father.
It was only fitting of course.

Nic watched, feeling like he was just in the background. For more reasons than that he just wanted to leave, but of course that wasn't an option right now. He could go to whatever room they put him in and see Abu... but he needed to go through with this right now.
At least Nae wanted to help! And if even Richard was an a*****e, he was unfortunately useful... His stupid status was anyway.
They eventually made it through the palace with Nic trying not to turn in circles to see everything. He kept himself walking straight, but his eyes were trying to take it all in. No matter how much he saw there was always more to top it.
Nic had no idea how true that was when they made it up some stairs and a little ways across a floor, the Prince just dismisses the Banian guard.... who left like nothing! They weren't even in a room yet.
But then as they were lead past more guards and into Richard's room, Nic had to keep his jaw from dropping. Not only could he tell there were several room, but it was all just as grande and decadent as the rest of the palace. The fireplace was huge with intricate artwork carved into the marble.
Nic didn't want to look like this was all so new, but he couldn't really help it.And this is probably what the d**k was normally used to! Nic had slept on the street often enough...
It was hard to pull himself away from the painting around the walls and whatnot, but Nic couldn't forget Calliope and the situation at hand either...
Where had he left off? Well he had sort of started on where he thought he needed to go with this, but now...
"So. Uh. I saw Hannah Livingston and the Princess talking over pink drinks before dancing. When I tried to find her later I went by the bar again and found an empty glass with just a little pink drink left with that girly note. And now the Princess is in a coma... I don't get it, but-" he shrugged, hoping they got the implications without him having to make anymore specific accusations. The only thing that's been on my mind

Kanae followed closely to Richard as they walked through the palace. She had been through a lot of the grounds, but up this way was pretty new. She had passed through where the prince now stayed, but never inside. When they entered his room, after the guard left them alone finally, she noticed Nic admiring well, everything. He was like a child, in awe of everything around him. Nae nudged him in the side, falling into step with him as they followed Richard into the study. "It's incredible, isn't it?" Under the sea actually had it beat, she had to admit. Everything was natural. It was all molded into coral and everything was colorful. It was gorgeous. This was nice, it was all very modern and royal like, from what she knew. But it didn't hold a candle to her kingdom. Though, she couldn't admit that. She was supposed to be in the same boat as Nic, nearly. A peasant.
"It took a lot of getting used to for me, too." Well, that wasn't a lie.
Kanae sat down on the plush leather couch, bending over to undo her straps on her heels, and slip them off. Her feet were pulsing and achy. She wanted sweats on so bad right now. But she looked so hot!
The heels, however, had to go. Getting used to feet was one thing, high heels was another. She remembered the first time Cali had her dressed up in those things. She tumbled right over, it hurt so bad! And they laid on the floor laughing for what seemed like hours. Her heart twinged at the thought.
And at Nic's words that followed her memories.
"But the drink she was... poisoned with was the same one they shared." Nae sighed, shrugging her shoulders. She rested her elbows on her knees, leaning forward and giving a good view of her chest.
"It all seems to point to this Hannah girl. So we need more intel on her. Someone's gotta get close to the girl. Surely, with her status, she'll be around here a lot. Her dad will step up with the king out at the hospital with his daughter." She looked up to Richard, wondering about his thoughts on the matter. "What I don't understand is why. She didn't even really know Hannah. Or anyone, for that matter."

While Nae got comfortable on the couch, Richard found two wine glasses and then hesitated and grabbed a third, whatever.
He set the glasses down on the table in front of the couch and poured wine into each of them, and barely set the bottle down, before swigging half of his glass.
He offered one to Nae, getting a superb view of her cleavage down her shirt while he stood over her, and then sat down next to her in the middle of the couch, leg sliding against hers.
"That will be easy. I'm supposed to be getting to know the officials and connections here anyway. And if she is around, we'll meet."
Richard didn't really know why the girl would have anything to do with this, but getting to know her wouldn't be a problem.
"It's looking too much like somethings going on in the government. It could be entirely possible this is part of a plot of her father's, looking to seize more power."
Richard shrugged, that is if she had anything to do with it anyway.
Now how much more talking about this did they really have to do that the gypsy had to stay for?
Richard drained the rest of his wine.

Nic nodded a bit embarrassed when Nae noticed him spacing out over the paintings on the walls, but at least this wasn't supposed to be all normal for her either, though she'd had more time here.
He tried to focus on what they needed to do now.
Not really sure what to do with himself, Nic stayed standing a bit to the side until Richard sat down on the couch with Nae and there was another glass of wine left on the table.
He hadn't been addressed or offered, but they had the other two glasses. ********... Nic hated being ignored so much. This was ridiculous! At least the wine was there though right? Fine.
Nic took the glass as casually as possible and eyes the chair to the left of the couch. That worked. He sat there and sipped at his wine while Richard went on about how easy he had it.
"You're Calliope's friend, I'm sure that will help with Hannah too... she was trying to get to know her more you know? When they were talking. And..." he stopped.
And well... Nic wasn't sure how long he was going to be held here or how quickly he was going to be kicked out. But if he was still around tomorrow, and if Hannah was... well, she'd totally been flirting with him last night right? She might talk to him.
Nic cleared his throat, "And uh well, I talked with a her a little too when she was with Calli, she should remember me."
He didn't really want to say more, but Nic didn't want to be left out either. It was bad enough feeling so useless already. Like ********, what was he even doing here?

Nae's heart skipped as Richard slid onto the couch beside her. She sat back, taking the wine from him and smiling gratefully. Her buzz was long- gone and this was necessary. Her head was all mush as is, but this felt nice. She took a long drink while Richard talked about how it would be so easy for him to get close to Hannah. Kanae felt her stomach twist in angst. She downed about half her wine while Nic sat down and continued on. "Alright. So this should be easy because people love me. Between the three of us we should be able to get a good amount of information right? It'd be impossible not to!" Kanae finished off her wine, reached for the bottle, and topped her glass off again. She turned to offer more to Nic. "This is one of the marvelous things about the royals." She smirked. "There's always good wine around when Richard is here." She giggled softly, taking another sip of her wine as she set the bottle down in Nic's lap. She turned her focus back to the right, brushing her hand against Richards thigh. "I don't think there's much we can do right now though. Hopefully we'll hear more about her status... soon?" She pouted, sipping her wine again. Kanae sat back into the couch, crossing one leg over the other. She wiggled her toes, watching them with a strained look on her face. Her toes were killing her! And red! That couldn't be good.
I've been so wrapped up in my warm cocoon.,
But somethings happening things are changing soon. I'm pushing the edge..

Nae's spirits seemed to be rising with their plans, and the wine probably too, both of which definitely worked for Richard. He refilled his glass a couple times as well, wanting to get that head change back after all of this s**t going on.
"Of course. I'm pretty sure they restocked the wine since the last bottle already." he said, not even joking at all. He watched Nae pour more for herself as well, and felt her hand on his thigh briefly...
It sounded like things were wrapping up already. Good.
Richard glanced over at Nic with a cool stare before turning his attention back to Nae.
"Hopefully we will have more updates tonight, but I'm sure there will be plenty by the morning." Richard said, not even really paying that much attention.
So now he needed to kick Nic out, while getting Nae to stay... he glanced over at her with a ravishingly charming smile quirking his lips. That shouldn't be too difficult.
However, Richard knew he couldn't be too blatantly obvious either because he didn't need Nic knowing something was going on here. The idiot might blab to anyone.
Richard stood up purposefully and poured more wine into his glass before stepping toward Nic in the chair and holding out his hand for the empty glass therein.
"I'll take care of that, or the servants will anyway. I'm sure you liked the wine, feel free to enjoy the rest of the bottle with your monkey friend."
After some hesitation, Richard had the glass in his hand and stepped back as Nic slowly stood up.
Richard pointed with his hand toward the door and then followed Nic out when he got the hint.
"If they keep you around, we'll be in touch about this case. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay despite this tragedy. It will be something at least.... getting to know Calliope through her best friend while I wait and pray for her to wake up."
Richard said levelly, tone genuine enough, but his eyes were distant. He was thinking more intently on finally getting the gypsy out of there.
As the door closed behind him, Richard turned on his heels and strode back to the couch where he'd left Nae without a word. It had been spontaneous and perhaps a bit rash, despite him trying to have some kind of excuse. Despite that, he seemed completely casual and relaxed.
"Sore feet?" Richard asked, getting down on his knees when he reached her, and took her ankle in one hand to look at the toe she'd stubbed earlier. Heels after that wouldn't feel good.
"If you can sit still, I might be able to help." he said, about to massage her feet, but remembering how ticklish she'd been before.
'Cause I took that s**t out.

I don't know where I'm going,
But I sure know where I've been Tho' I keep searching for an answer,

Nic didn't get to say much more, so he drank his wine awkwardly and was even passed the bottle by Nae... so he poured more too.
It wasn't long before Richard was standing over him asking for the frigging glass though! He had drained it again by then, but still!
It sounded like he was being kicked out, just dismissed really. Although Nic supposed he shouldn't really be surprised at this point. They hadn't been here long, but he supposed there wasn't much more to do tonight.
Nic slowly got up after handing Richard the glass and then headed out of the study. It didn't go unnoticed that he was the only one heading out though. Richard said something about getting to know Calliope through her best friend, but that sounded like bullshit too! At least coming from him...
Nic kept his expression neutral, but he was definitely ready to get away from the condescending p***k.
Hopefully they didn't kick him out tomorrow because he wanted to know what would happen! And see how Calli was, and...
Nic looked around, suddenly realizing he had no idea what part of the castle he was in. No one was around the hall he stood in and Nic wasn't even sure what part of the palace this was, but hoped there was some kind of order to it.
He looked into a room, walking in to see if anyone was around he could ask for directions.
Dammit... he just wanted to get to bed! Everything else could be dealt with in the morning... The only thing that's been on my mind

Kanae almost laughed at Richards antics. Clearly they'd discussed everything they could for the night and now he was rushing Nic out of his room. Did that mean she should leave too?
Nae filled her glass again, drinking that a bit slower. Her mind was swimming already again, the bottle was almost gone after all. "Thank you Nic! I'll see you in the morning!" She called after him, smirking as she pressed the glass to her lips, leaving a lipstick mark on the glass.
Richard was back in no time, alone now. She nodded, "Yeah. Between hurting myself earlier and getting used to heels, I'm not sure I can muster the courage to walk. Mind if I hang out here for awhile?" Kanae smiled, batting her eyelashes. He was sitting down, taking her legs in his lap. "I'll try! But you know how sensitive my feet are!" She laughed, drinking another sip before setting her wine down on the table. She wiggled her toes in his lap, then clutched the side of the couch. "Okay. Do your worst." She winked at him.

"Of course, you can stay as long as you'd like" Richard said smoothly as he pulled her legs into his lap.
She was still drinking wine. Richard was wondering if he might be out of wine for now, but was focusing more on what he could do with her body now.
"Alright," he grinned, "Get ready."
Richard took her left foot in his hands, holding firmly on her foot while moving his hands methodically into her foot from the top to the bottom on the underside. Feather light touches would be the most ticklish, this might be somewhat, but Richard really knew what he was doing too. He had experience with giving massages, not just receiving them... even if he was a prince. There were plenty of things worth learning, especially if women loved them. And he was prepared for some fight too, remembering almost getting kicked by her already.
"Does that feel good?" he asked, getting around her heel, circling in the palm of his hand, and then kneading with his fingers into her bridge.
After awhile Richard worked on her other foot, doing the same, and then eventually continued up her calves a little bit, massaging her muscle there without acting as if he was doing anything differently.
"How are your feet now?" he asked, voice still low, but clear, as he continued the massage on her lower legs.
As Richard touched her body, even just her legs and feet, he couldn't help but look her over... her body... her lips. His light blue eyes glazed over her with barely contained lust.
