rotabyss Quest/experience/loot: Killed Stone Golem and (possibly) finished orb quest. first page:Gloomwood rp page 36last page:Page 38other important pages:Does character possess skinning knife: Yes Hunting skill points: 5 Total skill points: 204 unmodified loot rolls (sorted by monster): 99
+396 gil +5 mysterious stone
+5 suspicious candy: Huh. Look at that. Rock candy... And... is that moss?
+5 petrified snowflakes: Ha. They're scared stiff
+2 mining +1 THSS +1 hunting
new skill point total: 208 Level: 11
loot roll: 99
THSS Arte: Spin The user takes their sword in both hands and makes a single spin. This attack uses roll1 on all enemies in range. Damage is calculated for each monster, and is thus: [full damage, calculated normally on each mob, after /all/ bonuses]/1+[number of mobs <hit>. If the attack is completely parried or successfully blocked by an opponent, any enemy further down the chain of initiative is not affected. Cost: 10 AP
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Admin note: This arte decreases in damage for only the mobs that are hit by it. If you attack three, but only hit one, then that one will take full damage. You roll only 1 roll1, but it is compared individually to each mob's roll3. You will then calculate how much damage you would normally have dealt, add in your skills, 150%, and weapon bonuses. The output of all of that will then be divided by how many mobs you hit, for each monster.
Example:
Soldier A uses spin 15 THSS, 150% attack, +4 roll1 +6 weapon damage roll1: 50 Total roll1: 50+15+4=69*1.5=103 THSS
Mook1 roll3: 100 roll4: attack attack 100, defense 50
Mook2 roll3: 110 roll4: defend defense 110
Mook3 roll3: 50 roll4: attack 50 attack, 25 defense
Mook4 roll3: 100+20 roll4: block (150%)
Mook5 roll3: 10 roll4: attack attack 10, defense 5
Soldier A: 103-50=53/4=13+6 weapon damage=19 to mook1 103-110=miss 103-25=78/4=19+6=25 to mook3 103-120=blocked by mook4 Mook5 protected by Mook4
Since you made contact with two of the mobs, you divide all damage by 2, to a minimum of 1.
19/3=6 damage to Mook1 miss 25/3=8 damage to Mook3 block 0
A defense roll does not equal a block. A successful defense roll means that you miss, and thus that mob is not considered into the damage equation. A successful block or parry does equal a hit, and is thus factored in as a hit. Any enemies protected by another mob are considered to be rolling defense against a 0 attack, and are thus counted as misses.
rotabyss Quest/experience/loot: Royal Eggs Quest turn in. first page: Gloom rp page 32last page: Page 36other important pages: Does character possess skinning knife: yes Total skill points:204 Hunting skill points:5
The Beastmaster welcomes you warmly and shows you the pen with his rabbits. There seem to be a few more than before. "These things have been breeding like... Something that breeds a lot. I'll think of something... But anyway, I have you to thank for that. So what brings you back here? Are you looking to buy some bait?"
When you show the Beastmaster the Gloomweave Royal egg, his eyes light up. "Is that what I think it is? You've actually done it! And you've got two! This is incredible! How did you manage it? No, that's not important. One for me, and one for you, that was the deal. Come, let me teach you how to Birth a beast."
The beastmaster pulls a shining gem from his pack: a gloomweave spider heart. "Some monsters cannot handle the methods of we beastmasters, and the only thing that remains is their Heart. Methods exist to distill this essence of their Light into a purer form, and the more that a Heart is refined, the more of that creature's essence will be transferred when you infuse the light into another vessel. Light is found in all monsters, and is the source of their power, and also their life. Therefore, if we take this Light, and infuse it into an Birthing Vessel, we can give life to a monster that will bond to our own essence, and will be an extension of ourselves, much the same as any tamed beast. See, now, how it works."
The Beastmaster places the egg on the ground and holds the gem above it, a small circle of light forming on the earth as the sun pours through the crystal. He adjusted the crystal so that the light was bathing the egg, and slowly adjusted its elevation to focus the light from a cone into a beam. The egg began to respond, slowly, Light building inside it, until the crystal was drained of all color, and turned to dust, blowing away on the wind.
The egg, now shining brightly, pulsed with light, and began to take shape. The light spread, growing in all directions until what stood before them was a tiny Gloomweave Spider. The Beastmaster placed his hand down, palm up, and the spider crawled onto it. "Every beast knows instinctively who created it, and will never bond to another. Unlike Taming a beast, though, Birthing a monster yields just a baby. If it is kept in such a state, it cannot be a combat companion, instead being just a faithful pet. Infusing the infant with more Light will increase its strength until it is ready to become a juvenile, and it will be ready to join you in combat. Juveniles are somewhat jealous of their masters, though, and only one can accompany their master at a time. Any others will need to be put in a safe place where they can wait for your return. Further infusions will age the creature to adulthood, and to the height of its power. Adults are extremely territorial, and have an undying devotion to their master. While no combat pets will attack the others, they will refuse to work if you try to bring more than one out at a time.
Remember: What you have created might look like the monster that you have taken it from, and does require that same creature's Light to be created, but the creature, once Birthed, is an entirely new being. Infusing the Light of other creatures will yield a creature with abilities and strengths that others of its race do not have. And, should you find a rare version of that creature, the common egg can still be Birthed with the uncommon Light, and will bear you a child of that rare type."
The spider dangled from a web attached to the Beastmaster's hand.
"Now that you have the ability to infuse Light into creatures, you can even enhance your Tamed companions. Tamed creatures are already in their adulthood, but can be further strengthened by a few infusions, but not so many as one that was reared by you. If you have a pet that has reached the end of its life, or if you wish to infuse its power into a new creature, you must only will the creature to become an essence of Light. They will do so happily for their master, as it is not seen as dying, but instead as being Born again.
One last thing. Choose the Heart that you use for the Birthing carefully. The more powerful the Heart that the creature is Born from, the more powerful the creature will be. Sometimes, it is worth raising a creature to adulthood, and then infusing that creature into a new one, to give Birth to an even more incredible monster. The possibilities are endless."
The Beastmaster looks at the little Gloomweave spider and smiles. "Yes, this will be a fantastic pet. I thank you for your help. Return to me if you ever have any more questions."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+1 Gloomweave Egg: infuse a Gloomweave Heart into this Egg to Birth a Gloomweave spider.
Beastmaster Arte: Heart infusion The user has the ability to focus the Light in a Heart into a creature or Egg. This will bestow various effects or upgrades to the vessel, or Birth a new creature.
"Chickens! That's it! They breed as fast as chickens!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Admin note:
Each character may have one non-combat or utility pet, and one combat pet present at any given time, with the only exception being that the user may have both a utility pet and an infant combat pet at the same time.
~Special Events~
Rota:
While working at your forge, you receive a message from a courier. The boy is young, and wears rough-hewn clothing in some level of disrepair, marked by several singed fibers and bearing several dark streaks from fresh coal. The boy hands you a rolled piece of parchment, sealed with a wax sigil of an anvil and hammer, and a small leather pouch. The courier does not wait for your response, and instead begins making his way back from whence he came, soon disappearing from sight.
Breaking the seal and reading the letter, you find the following:
Your mastery of the art of metalworking has brought you to the attention of the Iron Brotherhood. We are a community of smiths that seek to master the ancient arts of metalworking. The crystal we have supplied will take you to our proving grounds, where we shall see if the stories that we have heard of your talent are true.
Inside the pouch is a blue crystal. Upon inspection, you find that it is a with an destination.
Should you wish to use the crystal, proceed to the Iron Brotherhood thread.
You have faced the Stranger's challenge, and come out victorious. She leaves without a word, and you are left with little else to do beside breaking the seal and reading the scroll.
You have proven yourself a capable warrior, and defeated my apprentice. Few can accomplish such a task, and I congratulate you on your victory. Take this technique as a reward. I look forward to seeing how you put it to use.
Cross Slash: Attack twice in a round, with full bonuses applied to both strikes. Each roll gets its own roll1. Cost: 1 Light
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Admin note: Cross slash can be used just like a regular attack: you can either retain your evasion, or 150% your attacks. Regular artes may be used in conjunction with this technique, though the cost must be paid separately for each attack.
