Carac wished he had better news for her. "I'm sorry. Unless we miraculously find a tome or something on the spells, there is nothing I or my sister can do," he said. He half-expected Lynora to fall into despair or something along those lines, and he wouldn't blame her. Her family must be grieving, or they will be.

This couldn't be happening, how was she able to get here in the first place if those kind of spells were forbidden? And why did the necklace send her back in time? There were many other girls who looked at the necklace before her but somehow it chose her. "I'm never gonna get back home..." she said breathlessly as she stared at the ground helplessly.

Carac just looked at her, unable to find any comforting words. Perhaps Lynora was here for a reason, but no one knew what. "Hm... Well, Cedany and I can try to find something," he offered. "I'll need to get out of here, of course, but we can do our best to help you."

Lynora finally looked up at Carac and gave him a little smile to cheer the both of them up a bit. "I talked to the Prince. He's going to investigate to find out if you two really have been poisoning the children. Is there anything you can tell me that might prove your innocence?"

Carac was all-too willing to comply. "We were framed. There's some quack in the town we frequent who claims to be a doctor, and he saw us giving potions to the children one day," he began, glad that someone besides Sreda was willing to hear his story. "He denounced us as witches and then told everyone he knew how to heal them. I don't know what he specified, but they started getting sick after that." He coughed, now realizing how dry his throat was. "I admit that Cedany and I made potions, we even enhanced them with spells, but we would never poison those children. We grew up with their parents and siblings. What ingratitude do they accuse us of?"

The best she could manage was to help prove their innocence, she might have a fighting chance of getting out of here if they could freely practice their magic. "Do you know how to cure the children? To fix that man's mistakes?" she asked softly, maybe there was a way to show the Prince who was the real mastermind behind this horrible act.

"If only. We don't know what he prescribed, and the children won't go anywhere near us anymore," Carac said bitterly. "We can't help them if they won't let us see just what is wrong. To make matters worse, their parents keep making them get more doses of poison just because they blame us and don't realize what is really causing their illness. Our best bet would be to expose the quack for the fraud that he is, but who would believe a witch and warlock?"

Lynora gave a reassuring smile. "I believe you. And I'm sure there's someone else out there who agrees. I'll find them for you." She said softly, standing and wishing she could give the man a hug. "I'll make sure they get you some food." she said softly, seeing Sreda asleep and deciding not to wake her. Lynora exited the dungeon and made her way back to her bedroom.

Cedany roamed around the castle halls, disguised as a black-haired nobleman and searching for the dungeon. She wished Sreda was around to show her the way, but the servant girl was nowhere to be found. However, Cedany did happen to come across an admittedly well-dressed Lynora. "You!" she couldn't help hissing when she realized. "Lynora, was it? Have you heard what happened to my brother? It's because of you that he was arrested!"

Lynora jumped about six feet in the air when she heard Cedany's voice. It took her a minute to realize who it was but once she figured it out her heart sank. "I-I know I'm so sorry. But...I think I can help you, let me bring you to Carac." she said softly, taking Cedany's hand and leading her back to the dungeon.

Cedany initially thought that she was being led to a trap, but then found to her liking that there were no guards in front of the dungeon right now. "Must be on break," she muttered to herself as she was led to Carac's cell. Once there, she immediately began working on the lock. "Hang in there, Carac, you'll be free soon."

Lynora hoped this would bring her back onto Cedany's good side. "Don't worry Cedany, I'm going to prove you guys are innocent. I'm sure someone out there is willing to talk." She said calmly, hoping the guards wouldn't come back anytime soon, that was the last thing any of them needed.

Cedany's attempts to force the lock open had ultimately been successful. She then glared at Lynora when the girl mentioned something about proving her and her brother innocent. "Prove us innocent? Of what? Poisoning children? Even if you did that, Carac and I will still be killed for witchcraft!" she told her. "Are the laws different in your homeland? Or did they kill off all magic users? You knew nothing about magic, it seemed, so maybe it's the latter." She then kicked the door in frustration.

Lynora gave a soft sigh, she knew nothing she had to say would make any of this better. And now that Carac was free, she was sure that she'd be blamed for his escape. "I promise I will find some way to make this right." was all she could think to say. She turned around and woke up Sreda, smiling once she opened her eyes. "Make sure Carac and Cedany get out of here without being seen by the guards." she said softly.

Once Cedany unlocked the chains binding Carac to the wall, she hoisted him over her shoulder. He appeared to have been beaten just a few hours earlier, and so had no strength to walk. "We'll be fine on our own. I got here on my own, so I know the way out," the witch said. "Look. Just stay out of this, alright, Nora? You don't know anything about these people, and certainly not what they consider to be justice." With that, she made her way out the dungeon.Sreda woke up and had been startled when she saw a man carrying Carac, but the familiar blue eyes were comforting. Lynora confirming the person to actually be Cedany made matters a bit better. Eagerly, she got up to join the siblings and help them escape, but was lightly pushed away by the elder, who quickly left the dungeon.
