(( Laz : Crawfish -> Seating | Cam ))
It was an interesting accent really, Cajun. It was strange with a sort of slur to it, but surprisingly Lazarus could still make out what Cam was saying most of the time.
When Cam sat down in the nearest seat to the crawfish table, Lazarus grabbed an empty plate and swiftly gathered a few of the bright red boiled crustaceans before joining the small man as well, all the time still listening and acknowledging what Cam was saying. He put the plate in the middle right between them so they could share the goods while they talk.
"Oh you're from the south!" That makes sense, since a lot of southerners had weird slurred accents. Even though Cam's one was unusually thick. "Admittedly I don't know much about Cajun, or stuff in the south unfortunately." He chuckled a little embarrassingly as he cracked open another crawfish. "Yeah I'm from the lab, I thought the ribbons were a dead giveaway enough." Lazarus chuckled as he bite into some more crawfish tail.
However, it also didn't escape his attention when Cam rubbed his right thigh. "Is something wrong with your leg?" The Sigel simply asked out of curiosity, but once the words left his mouth, he realized how insensitive they were. Perhaps Cam was sensitive about the issue, perhaps he don't want to talk about it. The awkwardness and regret was apparent on the Raevan's face as he suddenly grew very quiet. But after a few moments, he managed to mutter softly. "I'm... sorry. If you don't want to talk about it, it's fine."

((Ethiriel -> Seating; Zul, Cesc, Melisande, Wasa | Henry -> kitchen))
As Zul brought her back into his grip, Ethiriel was quick yet graceful to wrap her arm back around his as her skin softly slid against his. He had been careful to keep a comfortable temperature for her and the sentiment alone was enough to warm her.
Admittedly, she felt a little out of place as new faces were mentioned, though she wouldn’t say it aloud.
”Your concern is well received, dearest Rhedefre… I will feed once I feel it; I promise,” she said, keeping her head turned to face him. She offered a small nod and attempted a smile that didn’t quite meet her eyes. She had no words for the strangeness of Cesc’s offered snack – she had no idea how to put the description together nor could she necessarily see its bright light other than a faint, very faint, glow. She couldn’t see any more of that than she could Cesc or Zul, other than the silver he adorned for her. She offered another bow, but as soon as his tangent was over another was brought into conversation.
Offering another bow, this time placing her free hand on Zul’s arm, Ethiriel attempted to face Wasa as she approached. She only had the woman’s voice to go by, but for now that would have to be enough. ”Greetings,” she said, raising her voice just a tad higher than it had been prior.
In the kitchen, now that there was little to no attention on him, Henry shrugged with a grin and set to working on the hotdogs. A quick run was made to the car to fish out the coal and fluid, but once he was back he made quick work of cooking.

((Cam - Roll for Food - > Laz))
"Thank y'kindly," The cajun said reaching for another crawdad. These were addictive all he'll all get at. He shrugged lightly and smiled up under his brow at Lazarus, nodding once he made the southern connection.
"H'mma true southern gentleman, h'gaurantee," He licked his lips and furrowed his brow slightly. His heritage just was. His grandmother had been all about her authenticity, her healing hands, her prayers and her creole. Her cooking was also divine. He loved her deeply, even still after she's gone. Sometimes he felt like she'd visit, brush his shoulder. Soothe him when he wakes up in a pool of sweat scre-.. He stopped tilting his head and counting the segments of Lazarus's horns before forcing another smile, "Well... H'don' like assumin'. It's a d**k move. An' if y'tol' me y'was from antarctica an' no'th'lab... h'd wonduh bu' h'wouldn' challenge y'. H'like t'hear th'truths and the lies righ' from people's mouths. Y'learn a lo' abou' a person tha' way..."
He chewed on the tail of a crawdad and glanced down at his leg. Brow furrowing. s**t was the pant stuck between the sock and the suction cup again? No, no crease. Oh. He was touching it. He gave Lazarus a big grin and shrugged.
"Yeah, 't din' ge' a return ticke' wid me. Some doctuh though' h'd be better off without it," He nodded and shrugged, laughing and tossing his shells on his old plate, placing it between the two as a discard pile, "I was in'th military, Our helicoptuh was shot down. H'was a lucky one. Don' be sorry though, nevuh be sorry for curiosity. H'd rathuh y'ask than assume anythin' abou' me. "

Faexa ((Melanie --> Bonfire | Thanatos))
Melanie took another bite of her food as she listened to the man speak. Versed in many instruments was a really sexy thing. The fact that he was learning another was amazing as well. The woman had always been fond of the violin and piano, however, so the fact that he knew how to play those two well was a great asset.
She listened intently, taking in all of the information he was giving her. So he had other instructors to help him, but that was still great that he was teaching his students something. Owning a business must have been hard work, but rewarding if it's something one enjoys doing. As he finished with the Glad I did. remark, Melanie blushed a bit and smiled, looking down at her plate. This man just knew a way to a woman's heart. He's probably done his fair share of breaking them in his lifetime.
When he asked about her writing, all she could do is look over at him and smile. Looks like she might as well come clean. "I actually work for the Gaian National Newspaper. I have a column that I write in each week. They tell me that I can write about anything I wish and so I do. Generally, it's about people's rights or some interesting news topic that has occurred that week. I'm an advocate for peace and equality, so my writings tend to stay on the political and emotional side of man's rights. Aside from that, I'm in the process of writing my first book, entitled: We Are Equal. Well, that's the nickname for now, until I can think of something better." she finished with a smile, looking at the man to see how he would react to it all. [[ Thanatos --> Bonfire | Melanie ]]
He arched a brow when he caught wind of her light blush. So pretty, he thought and just kept watching her, not at all shy about it. When she begin to speak again, he realized she was talking about her work. So she was part of the Gaian Newspaper. Somehow he didn't mind that at all. The way she spoke of her work gave him insight into how dedicated she was with her views. The fact that she could write whatever she wanted was a plus; a way to get her points across and appeal to the readers on a personal and political level. Man he could sit and listen to her talk all day, to which they were practically doing but when she mentioned her book he couldn't help interjecting, "Oh? Writing your first book? That must be excitin'. If I may ask, what kind of book are you writing about?"

(( Wasa - Seating | Meli, Zul, Eth, Cesc ))
Wasa watched them pass the marble back and forth, curious about it. She knew a little bit of lamp work though it had been years since she sat at a kiln. She smiled at the branch-winged girl, making no connection between her opaque eyes and the possibility that she did not see her as she made herself comfortable at their table. She offered one of the sections of muffin to Pasha as she noticed her gaze wandering towards it. Made sense that the Sigel wouldn't have wanted to take a whole one from the table, but she didn't think that should deny her a taste.

((Pasha - Cesc, Wasa, Zul, Eth))
Melisande winced slightly at the minimal introduction between Wasa and the others. In honor of Tatiana, she chose to let it be. The Muse was momentarily distracted by Wasa's silent offer of muffin…one she accepted with a smile and murmured thanks before taking a bite of the wedge.
Pasha wasn't one for cake, usually…but this was great.
She took another little nibble before realizing she hadn't offered the share the secondhand treat. Pasha looked from Zul to Cesc before offering the last bite to the Stag with a smile. She would finish it off if he declined, but her expression said it was obviously worth trying. "Would you like a taste? It's amazing!" The Demon didn't seem to eat traditional food often, in her recollection…and surely he would decline something that produced crumbs when sitting so close to Eth anyway.
A call from across the way caught her attention, and she leaned to the side to peek around Cesc's shoulder. "Oh, the games are starting soon! Ethiriel, I hope to see you in a bit! We'll be back before too long!"
Hoping it wasn't too forward, she settled one hand lightly on the Frei's shoulder before leaning in and giving her a ghost of a kiss on one cheek in parting. Hesitating only for a moment, meeting Zul's eyes with a shy smile, she did the same for the Demon before drifting back.
"See you both soon?"

(( Leigh --> Main Entrance ))
"Thanks, Duncan! I'm parked over on the--- uh..." After gathering up her things and bumping the car door closed with her hip, Leigh glanced around to try and gather exactly where she was.
"It's the right side for me, left for you I guess... trees. There are trees and a massive lawn. I can find it fine later! I think it's a pretty good spot considering this place has nowhere to park..." She chuckled into the phone while making her way down the sidewalk and toward the lab, adjusting her bag once to ensure that the dishes were upright and would not spill over. "I'm walking up to the building now, though! You should be able to pick me out just fine. I'm the one who looks like me and is the only person out here--"
Once the entrance of the Lab was in view, Leigh spotted Duncan waiting for her, and lifted her 'phone' hand to wave in his direction. "Hey!"

(( Laz : Seating near Crawfish table | Cam ))
Lazarus haven't noticed that he was holding his breath when Cam was talking, until the man was done only did the Raevan let out a soft sigh. He was relieved that Cam was so cool about it, and the man is military! Which just added quite a few cool points to him, regardless of his disability and his unusually small stature. The Raevan don't really know anyone from the military, Cam is his first military friend!
The raevan visibly relaxed as he discarded the emptied crawfish shells in his hands, proceeding to grab another. "That sounds rough though, the helicopter crash. Did anyone else survive?" And at the risk of being insensitive again, although Cam did say that he should not be sorry for his curiosity, he just needed to ask this question. "Do you... you know, still feel the leg like it was still there? Like a phantom limb?"
That was when he realized the crawfish he grabbed was kind of big and had a pretty impressive pair of claws. Lazarus stared at the claws for a moment, wondering if there were delicious bits inside and how do you eat them. Before deciding he would do that later and will take care of the rest of the body first, cracking the shell along the tail. He was getting pretty good at it by now.

(( Cam -> Laz Roll for Food))
"Rough is puttin' it ligh'ly... Although' aftuh th'initial strike h' was unconscious for the impact. Blessin's," He licked his lips and cleared his throat, blinking a bit and furrowing his brow. Thinking about his leg, when he thought about it, sure- sometimes when he was half asleep... Sure... But it had been years. He glanced up at Laz, eyebrows raised and a nervous smile and rubbed both of his thighs, "Sometimes h'guess.... D'y'? D'y'have sensory in th'ribbon?"
He paused, slowly putting more pieces of crawdad in his mouth, nodding his head and slowing down. Beginning to get full. Less Ravenous- but he was cajun after all. He blinked, scrunching his face and leaning down- grabbing his beer and taking a large draw. He didn't mind the questions. He really didn't. But it was a lot. The sensory, the people, the lack of comfort, the sobriety, the pain that ebbed and flowed. He grinned, showing some teeth and nodded back to Harrison Troxel speaking with Shep, "Trox- He's watchin' Tatiana from this place-- He was one of th'pilots. Othuhwise we los' th'other six souls on board..."
He flushed, quickly drinking again and glancing from Laz's face to the large crawdad. A welcome distraction really. "Eeer-yeee~" He gave a silent call and reached forward, snapping and twisting the claws like a flower from a stem and then offering it to the sigel, "Jus' suck on tha'~ Good fatty mea' in there."

(Cesc --> Zul, Melisande, Eth, Wasa | Shep --> Trox, food rolls!))
"Wasa, hello -- thank you!" said Cesc, accepting a pinch of the carrot cake cupcake as Melisande offered it, his face bright with delight. "I don't know if you know everyone, but this is Zul, and this is Ethiriel. They are both some of the loveliest people I have ever met, inside and out. Have you been enjoying yourself?"
As he finished speaking, he put the carrot cake crumbles into his mouth, and his smile broadened. He put his hand over his mouth to stifle a laugh and swallowed, then let down his hand. He recognized this carrot cake! The recipe was terribly familiar. "I don't suppose if you know if these are from Lulù?"
He knew the games were starting soon, but he could not help but linger an extra moment. --
Shepard nodded along, taking Trox's email address with two fingers -- the cleanest ones he had left -- and setting his plate down to put it safely into his wallet. He leaned, gathering everything back up, and set about taking apart another crawdad. "That all sounds like a damn good time. Not that coachin' the Raevans isn't great. Yer right. They're not kids, not by a long shot."
His face darkened slightly. "I don't know if you went into that damn jungle last summer. Wasn't able to, but I had no idea what they were gonna be up against. Certainly don't think anyone who went in there came out a kid, if you know what I mean. But they're both good ones, the ones I coach, and I know a few other good 'uns, too."

(( Zul → Seating with Ethiriel, Cesc, Melisande, Wasa ))
The demon retained his silence through most of the exchange, shaking his head slightly at the mention to food again. His blue eyes flickered to the Frei on his arm, uncertain of what he could say. The two there were two of his closest friends, but the party made everything feel strange to him, somehow. Like their discussion was small talk and not nearly as personal as it usually was. Maybe he was just touchy, given recent events.
The slight introduction to Wasa did not put him in a better mood. He looked to the woman he'd never seen nor heard of, then back to Melisande, who spoke so oddly high and well of her. Zul hadn't been aware that Melisande was in good spirits around humans again, and this one she spoke of as an old friend. The Sigel pursed his lips and bowed his head in quiet greeting, unable to give his standard bow and touch of hands with his hold on Ethiriel. "Pleasure," he murmured in his smokey way instead, eyes tinged with the confusion he felt.
Zul mused only briefly over the offered bead, not quite seeing what the other two did and again, not sure what to make of what the hell was going on. Seeking Ethiriel's fingers, he gingerly pressed it between her index and thumb so she could at least 'try' if she wanted to. He was as uncomfortable as she was in the entire exchange.
"I hope you enjoy yourselves," he finally commented at length, expression neutral at the chaste kiss shared by the Muse. Tipping his tri-horned head to his bright-eyed friends, he gave Ethiriel's hand on his arm a squeeze.

As the man spoke, Melanie took another bite from her plate, the food was still so delicious and her stomach just didn't ever seem to be satisfied enough with it all. When the man asked about her book, she blushed and smiled, mouth still full of food.
When she was able to clear her mouth and throat, she sipped her wine and set it down at her feet before speaking. "Well, the book is about equality for all. There are different accounts within the book itself. My personal experience as an activist as well as the account of my brother, who is in the minority, and other men and women who fit that same spectrum. It deals with accounts of bullying, as well as a support section with how to deal with bullying and the like. It's actually dedicated to my brother." she said, feeling as though she blabbed for far too long.
"So, how often do you come to these little get togethers? Is this like a weekly, monthly, or yearly thing you all do?" she asked curiously.

He quirked a brow at the abundance of information and the amount of thought went into her idea for her book. Wow! An activist. He smiled to himself liking her the more she spoke. He was curious about her brother for the moment but didn't want to pry into sensitive topics if he could help it. Maybe he'd ask more about it later. While she explained her book he took a few bites from his plate indulging for a moment in his meal. With a quick swing from his beer, he gave her a lopsided smile while thinking over how to address her question. "Well I'm probably the type of guardian they'd call a loner. I try to make the events but I'm not very good at it." He looked off sheepishly giving himself a moment to address her next question. "Actually the events seem to be on a random schedule. I've known a year with nothing grand going on and another with more craziness then one could take." He smiled kindly at that, "When we do have events they don't pull their punches... oh! By the way, have ya signed up to any of the mini games?"

Melanie couldn't help but take another bite and sip of her wine as the man spoke to her. The loner type -- well he did seem to keep pretty busy; between the school and his charge, along with his alone time, he seemed to be able to do well for himself.
She smiled and nodded as he spoke of the events. Then he asked her his question. "Ah, yes, the Never Have I Ever, Kissing Game, and the Feather game. I think they will be quite fun and it will honestly be very nice getting to know all of the other guests here." she said with a smile. "What about you?" she returned the question, her eyes fixated on his.

[[ Arriving! --> Food table | Cruz || Dayo feeding ---/30 ]]
“I hope everyone likes it,” Dayo said, managing to stifle the urge to touch her creation, bacon beer bread. She had found the recipe it in the large catalog that he kept neatly organized the moment he had told her that there was supposed to be a pot luck (a term that he had to clear up for her as well). “I’m sure they will, my heart,” Fathle said with a small smile. “If smell is a judge for a taste, then it will be delicious.” Dayo smiled up at her guardian before taking his hand to rushing over to the sound of people’s conversations and to the smell of burning wood.
“Oh, wow, Faye… Look at that,” she said, taking a moment to study the bonfire burning brightly in the distance and feeling the gathered emotions seeping into her skin. “This is so nice. Where do you think I should put the bread?” Fathle took a quick scan of the area before pointing out the tables of food in the distance. “Over there, I believe. Come, my heart,” he said before leading Dayo over to the large landscape of food. The young frei made a spot for her bread before she noticed a familiar face.
“Cruz!” she said happily, the memory of their last meeting a happy one.
