Chel didn't know Clerise, but she at least knew Clarice. The pronunciation threw her off for a moment, but she figured it was probably just another Clarice. Chel could at least tell you that one of the Clarices was the life division assistant- judging by Otto's look.
If something killed that woman it must have been incredibly powerful. Then again, they already knew that. It broke into the weapons cave. Maybe Clarice died fighting it out?
Whatever the reason, she sent a text with a dark look on her face.zoobey Text to Allan: Hey fearless leader, we saw a strange man on the beach- he left a blue gem behind. I tried picking it up and it threw me a few yards. Not sure if it's dangerous, but we're throwing a barrier around it just in case. Idk really- come help please?

No.
No. No no no no no as if she felt like her heart didn't hurt enough, suddenly this curveball came flying at her out of nowhere. Although she hadn't known Clarice on a particularly personal level, her heart stopped at the news, a hand flying up and pressing over her mouth. How...? And then there was Clerise, someone who the young woman had been very fond of. She had been so very sweet to her, and Eva could still remember when she had come to talk to her when she had having nightmares, and now--
But Otto was obviously taking it harder. She knew how close the boy had been to the redhead--it probably would have been kind of like losing either Wilson or Gale for her. At least, even if the latter had forgotten about her (it still ached), he was still alive, a fact that she was very grateful for. But Clerise...Clerise was...
"Okay," Eva whispered, lifting her hands and setting them on either side of the blonds face, "Otto. Otto, listen to me. I--" And then she cut herself off. What was she supposed to say--"it's okay"? "It'll be fine"? Nothing seemed appropriate. After a moment of hesitation, she reached out to give him a hug.

It was true. He'd gotten confirmation from quite a few people. They were likely there with her... His world seemed to fall apart on him. Only moments ago he'd been poking fun at the airborne Chel, and now... now everything hurt. He almost wished he could be numb. Otto gripped the phone tightly, Eva's soft hands keeping him from pulling his face down lower. She seemed like she was going to say something, but didn't have the words. There was nothing to say. It was what it was. Clerise, his big sister, his idol, was gone forever. The moment Eva wrapped him in a hug, Otto lost the handle he had on his emotions. Burying his head in the nook of Eva's neck, he flung his arms around her, dropping his phone to the ground once again as he clung to her. His body shook with stifled sobbing, his cheeks soaking with falling tears. His throat hurt, his heart hurt. Everything was in agony. He wanted her back. He wanted her back right now. "I don't want her to be gone.." he choked out painfully.

Dakota blinked as Lucky stopped him, his face almost turning into a snarl. But if it wasn't for the look of apology in the lifers eyes, and the silent message.
"I see." He let the bundle be taken away, "I'll....find another way to bury them respectfully." He nodded before leaving. he had something already Clerise's, the ribbon that stayed tied on his arm no matter what. Now he just needed something of Clarice's. He'd wait till they allowed them to take what was left of the rooms, for memories and bury them.
He didn't try to retrieve his jacket at all, not as worried about it as he was anything. When he left the caves, the first person he went to look for was Candace.

She shot Chel and Gale an apologetic, pained look before turning back to Otto, trying to guide him so that they were standing a little off to the side. She wrapped one arm around him while the other hand came up to gently rest on his back, pulling him close. Quietly, she rest her cheek against his head, trying to fight back the the lump in her throat as she felt the blond shaking in her arms.
No, not now. She couldn't cry now. Not when Otto needed her. It was just the way everything had suddenly gone wrong upon their arrival back. What was next? Were there other deaths that she should know about?
Although she was trying to suppress her emotions, if only for the time being, there was a tell-tale hoarseness to her voice even when she whispered to the boy. "I know, Otto," She sounded helpless, rubbing his back, "I know. I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry."

The new Life Assistant looked a little bit outraged and a whole lot ready to piss his pants. It took a lot of yoga breathing and positive visualization, but eventually he pointed to Mimsy. "You there!" He snapped, "That...that was a waste of resources! W-we need all the weapons tablets and you j-just! You will be responsible for finding a replacement! When that option is open, which it is not! So you can just...just, go to your room until we're ready to deal with you!"
He was practically panting by the time he was done, and briefly dabbed at his face with a handkerchief. Glancing around he had a semi-hopeful expression, like waiting for a pat on the back or maybe affirmation of his life choices.

[cave]Though she had been busy bothering both the remains of the weapon and the blood that was pooling at her feet, Mimsy spared a moment for the fortunate new Life Assistant. She smiled, her teeth still covered in patches that were unsettlingly dark pink, and raised her eyebrows at him. "Are you certain that you will ever be ready to deal with me?" she asked, dragging Svensyl to rest at her side. She tilted her head and briefly stared, before finally determining that she had a fairly good reason to return to her room, which remained unrelated to the situation at hand. There was someone unaccounted for. With no more words and another glance at the scene that she would savor for the remainder of her existence, she desummoned Svensyl and turned to stomp up the stairs (to time out). [exit to time out]--lizbot have I told you lately that I love you

[ South Beach ]
A little later, someone not nude nor blonde-haired but more of the tall red-headed variety arrived. It honestly looked like Allan had seen better days, and his coat was still dripping wet, as if he had singlehandedly fought a variety of sea creatures that would have made an exotic sushi restaurant look modest in size and sampling.
By the time he had arrived, there was a small sampling of Hunters too gathered, all ogling over what it could possibly be.
"I'm telling you, it's an arc reactor!" That voice sounded vaguely familiar.
"No it's not, it's clearly something blue, like a blue bal-" That voice too also sounded vaguely, and aggravatingly familiar.
The Sun lead gently pried two people away from his line of sight and then kneeled down next to the object, taking a closer look. People were beginning to crowd him now, and he paused, frowning. "I think-"
More thinking.
"Hmmm..."
More intense staring.
"Yes, I see." Allan stood up. "I think it is glowing." Sage nod.
Yes. This is why you summoned Allan to investigate things.

East shorePale eyes flicked over Taym, watching for any reaction, Aria's arrival pulled her attention, and with an apologetic look that could have meant so many things she half turned and trotted towards the Division lead. If anyone would know what they were supposed to be doing, Then surely someone in her position would. "Ma'am?" She stopped just short of the taller woman. "There was a tentacle that broke the surface, it was really close." She pointed uselessly at the water with the curved blade of one of her weapons, but she let the hand fall back to her side as her eyes flicked back and forth between water and Aria. "What should we be doing?"

[ Eastern Security Detail ]"I see it," Aria replied crisply to the trainee that addressed her. "I also see that its main body is roughly twenty meters long and the tentacles an estimated thirty to forty meters." The division lead lowered the runic device, clicking it closed as she studied her. "You should be ready for whatever decides to crawl out of the ocean here. You are...?" Aria side-stepped, checking the back of her coat. "Sun. Be ready for anything. It's expected that you will be out on the front lines. Make friends while you can, they just might save your life."

[Eastern Beach]
Finn couldn't help but overhear the two women, having let his attention focus on the one that looked like an authority figure, though her name still escaped him, especially since he was still feeling a bit groggy.
Wait. Twenty meters long? ........Thirty to forty meter tentacles?
Trynt was now in his hand and held at the ready.
.........For whatever that was worth because Finn really wasn't sure he even knew how to use him.

North:Everything remains quiet, but a regular security detail of this area is instated. East:There is no immediate attack. There's a lot of disturbance in the distance those, as if multiple creatures are testing the water surrounding the island. A regular security detail of mostly eclipse and rainbow teams it set into place. South:Bearing what looks like a pair of runic salad tongs and a metal box, Dr. H strides past Allan, only pausing to give the other a look so scathing that while it bypassed Allan's awareness completely, it shamed all of his ancestors and their cattle for daring to even look at something that was so obviously of the science. "Go away and hit things," the doctor hissed pleasantly, while retrieving and containing the artifact. "The rest of you at least try to appear useful." A security detail is set into place, as well as an investigation that lasts for several days. West:Sunny, Dr. Stephen, and a med team retrieve and quarantine the screaming hunter. He is never seen again, but those who pass by the quarantine section can hear his screams echoing through the hallways. After a week, it stops. It was determined that his ailment was not contagious. A security detail is set into place, as well as an investigation that lasts for several days. Caves:Life, Death, and tech oriented Mist hunters spend the rest of the week trying to salvage Clarice's equipment and any data. It is a resounding failure. The day after the Tear, a glowing sphere takes Excalibur's place. It's not enough power to replace their shields, but it is enough to ensure the main headquarters and infirmary have power. The caves remain closed and guarded to those without clearance. Deus Status Within a day of the Tear, you notice the fog beginning to thin. After several, the sky above Deus is a clear blue and the sun readily visible and shining down on the island. Without the shields, the fogs of Insanity are no longer contained within the island. Harland came to running a hand through his wavy hair, on the western section of the island. A combination of THE CRYSTAL CAVES HAVE BEEN BREACHED, broadcasting over the PA and the screaming of the Hunter nearby covered in something dark spreading across their body blended into one sound, merging into a drone.
It was Coyote's voice that pierced the darkness of Harland's thoughts: ☆≼Wake up, Harland Leander Belle, and get a move on,≽ Coyote said, strangely comforting. There was, nevertheless, an urgent edge to his voice. Someone, several someones, had already been tending to or were tending to the Hunter in pain.
"It's good t' hear ye again, Deputee," Harland said, dazed still. He wobbled a little, as he took a step, and then another. Finally, he was running, unsure what to do about the Hunter whose skin was being consumed.
Coyote reassured him: ☆≼They will care for the wounded. Run, Belle, before I n** at your heels,≽ he joked.
Harland made it to the caves, just in time to watch something shred Clarice, turn her to ash.
He stood still, unsure of what to do. ☆≼Can't save everyone, Harland,≽ Coyote's voice rang through him, trying to break him out of his thoughts.
Harland had both his fists clenched so tightly that it hurt, and he felt like he was going to throw up. Again. He was running out, and back to his post, and there was so much going on around him.
It seemed like he blacked out.
[[OOC: I don't even know how to post for this at all any more orz But backdating this a little if that is okay.]]
