To that end, she felt that she succeeded for the most part. She hoped that she appeared to be a dedicated student more than the power-hungry animal that she might otherwise be perceived as. Although she did worry about the effect these particular cravings would have on her life as a Jedi, she was sure that she would not fall from the path. All that she'd ever known was being a Jedi, and she couldn't think of anything that would make her give that up. No amount of power or secrets of the Universe could tempt her away from being a powerful creature of the Light. At least that's what she liked to tell herself. Her pride insisted that she would not fall.

She did try to remain mindful, though. Mindful of herself and of her future. Her delicate path down the path of Light, and how it was always a struggle to remain true to that course. She tried to remain mindful of outside influences and of internal pressures. When she caught herself growing too lustful, she would try to meditate and regain control of her drives. When she caught herself growing angry or moved toward excess of any negative emotion, she would stop and try to master herself again. Very rarely was she unable to rein herself in, but when she found herself struggling, she would seek the counsel of an available master, which always put her mind at ease.

That was pretty much Vyntyr's life in a nutshell: studying, training, meditating, and attempting to master herself. The masters said that time and patience would see her gain more control over herself, and she certainly had the time, though patience was somewhat harder to come by for the girl. She always had to be moving, learning, practicing. She couldn't stand being idle. Her life was dedicated to becoming a more powerful --a better-- Jedi, and time spent doing nothing did nothing but push that goal further and further back, which was simply unacceptable.

Postponing her goals was something the girl could only stand if she was still moving forward somehow. Speaking with a master to help gain control over herself was still moving forward. taking a day to sleep and laze about was not moving forward, and was thus unacceptable. She maintained a ten-a-day meditation regimen, and made sure to not only stretch and maintain flexibility (her scars might otherwise begin hardening) but to remain somewhat capable as far as physical fitness extended. She ate two meals a day and spent what was left of her time after class either in the library, in the meditation chambers, or in the training yard.

In all, Vyntyr had less 'free' time than other younglings, in only due to the self-inflicted training regimen. Of course, the academy had their own standards to which they held the younglings; classes every day, exercise, five meditations a day. Vyntyr chose to push herself even harder in an effort to become stronger, more capable, more... More. Hers was a mission of self-improvement, ceaseless and gradual, she was slowly becoming more and more proficient. Slowly transforming into the image she had of her perfect self; a powerful Jedi, a capable warrior, fighting for justice and peace.

She was prone to daydream, Vyntyr. As focused as she was on progress, she was still susceptible to visions of her ascension to power; her rise to glory, as it were. She imagined moving mountains, turning the tide of great battles singlehandedly. She imagined herself as a one woman army, jerking Starships out of the sky and rending armored tanks asunder. Vyntyr had something of a hunger for the battlefield, but she didn't view it as a negative thing; some Jedi excelled in archaeological pursuits, others were gifted philosophers, some were at home in the classroom, and still others were more at home on the battlefield.

Vyntyr, of course, had no idea what real battle was like, though she had read histories and heard stories. Just because the galaxy was not in full-blown was does not mean that war and conflict were not still widespread. There was certainly no shortage of battlefields upon which one might test their mettle, were they so inclined. And while the Jedi were not meant to be warriors per se, they were as capable on the fields of battle as they were in the halls of politics. The Jedi had long walked hand in hand with the Galactic Republic, fighting for peace and justice wherever they were called for.

But the ultimate enemy is the Sith Empire. Sure, there was supposed to be peace between the two galactic powers, but that was just an illusion. Little conflicts broke out all the time in neutral space, and the Empire's dirty hands were behind a great deal of them, if you believed the rumors. The ultimate test of a Jedi's skill and willpower lay in combat with a Sith Lord. Embodiments of hate and rage, they represented the Dark Side made physical. Ruthless and bent on destruction, they would raze the galaxy to slake their bloodthirst.

Naturally, Vyntyr daydreamed about the Sith most of all. Ignoring her earlier vision, she often thought about epic battles of Sith and Jedi, like in the old times, in the histories of the order. The stories told of great battles between armies of Sith and Jedi, and even of regular non-sensitives, fighting on open fields of war. It all sounded rather romantic to Vyntyr, who admittedly saw it all through a haze of heroism and grandeur that it might not deserve. Again -- what did she really know of war? She had no idea what kind of destruction came with battle. What kind of loss and insufferable pain went hand in hand with death. All she knew was that soldiers were hailed as heroes, and that she wanted to prove her worth.

Oftentimes, though, Vyntyr noticed that her daydreams were lacking something rather important -- her lightsaber. As a tool, the lightsaber was indispensable. but in Vyntyr's mind, as a weapon, she just didn't often see herself using it. She saw herself fighting, naturally, but she often fantasized that the Force would be her weapon. She saw herself tossing her enemies aside; tearing their vehicles apart, even hurling massive objects their way as they advanced, but lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat was rare. She guessed that that made sense; she didn't often practice with her lightsaber, to be honest. She often got tired and simply too exhausted to continue. She knew that she would have to work on that.

The girl pondered what style would be best for her. Of course, she knew the basics of the forms from class. First came shii-cho, a style that excelled in battlefield combat, blade to blade. That would certainly fit her daydreams well enough. Second was makashi. A refined, disciplined style that was difficult to match in solo combat. Her aspirations for combat with Sith Lords would be well provided for. Third, soresu. Pure defense. Unbeatable resistance, indefatigable stamina. She didn't know if her body could handle that, though the advantage against blaster fire and blades both would be helpful.

She continued down the list. Ataru. The most physically demanding style of them all. Focusing the Force to become a weapon nigh unstoppable. Practicing it took a great deal of both physical and spiritual stamina. Practitioners who lacked endurance in either area would find themselves exhausted and at a disadvantage if the battle went longer that you'd planned, though the vicious barrage of attacks often overwhelmed opponents quickly. Form V, separated into two forms, came next. Both defensive forms that were highly specialized in their particular fields. Shien for blasters and Djem So for lightsabers, they both relied on using your opponent's own momentum against them.

The sixth form, niman, was a merging of all previous forms. While this made it well-rounded, it also made it sometimes less powerful than more specialized forms. It was simple to learn, though, and proficient users could combine their knowledge of the Force with their lightsaber strikes, capitalizing on openings created in the heat of the moment. This style would complement Vyntyr's affinity with the Force, though she would have to rely heavily on her Force powers, and if they were found wanting, she would be at a disadvantage to someone who'd practiced a more specialized style. Practitioners of niman were not typically known for their accomplishments on the battlefield.

Practitioners of juyo, however, were well-known on the fields of battle, and in the records of war. A violent, powerful style, juyo used the inner intensity of the practitioner and made it physical. Brutal and highly offensive, juyo overwhelmed its opponents quickly and decisively. While few Jedi practiced for VII, many Sith did, and it made them a mighty force to be reckoned with, turning their anger and rage into victorious power. While the idea appealed to Vyntyr, she did not see herself as powerful enough to exercise such a style effectively. She felt that her body was unlikely to handle that sort of effort.

Ruling out juyo and soresu based on her lack of physical stamina, she had five forms left. Djem so and shien both required a lot of practice to become well-rounded, and she didn't want to spend that much time on lightsaber combat training. Shii-cho was effective against multiple opponents, but was best against blades, and was somewhat lacking against single opponents. So it was out. Left with makashi, ataru and niman, she was faced with difficult choices. She decided against makashi, as it was mainly a dueling style, and was lacking in battlefield applications.
