((Err... I assume you're rolling to my left, since it seems illogical to me that you'd roll with a blade moving in the same direction.))

The shadow man has no real sense of personality or civil knowledge; it more or less naturally only knew combat and basic emotions, similar to that of a wild animal. So, it would not understand the term 'date', and it would not be able to take insult.

As the swing missed, its hands twisted around as its right foot shot out to stop its own momentum and twist around at the man who moved. For such a massive weapon, he was actually rather adept at weilding it, as he was able to turn it about so quickly.

And as his body twisted to the left to face the man, its arms would bend as it began to swing the weapon up and around into a diagonal arch into the air, arms fully extended as the weapon went up before it came back down; it would have been strictly vertical if not for the turning motion, and as such, its arms were raised above its head.

(( Actually, it was rolling in the direction of the swing. My logic was perfectly sound on it: your blade is single-edged, large, and the swing was wide. If I'm under it you won't have room to get any momentum for another swing, even with the weight I could stop it with a single hand with no momentum. Complete neutralization, since it isn't even sharp.

However, to the right it is. ))

He stayed where he was as the other turned and brought the weapon around to face him again; not acting hastily to capitolize on the opening, but calmly...

The weapon came up over the other's head, and that was the point of no return. The weapon was in motion, the other was comitted entirely to his swing, and he would not be able to stop it entirely unless he let go of the weapon. That was when Joshua acted; springing off of the balls of his feet and pushing off from the ground with his hand. It was a distance of three steps, he covered it in two, stepping in quickly to close the distance and come face to face with the enemy.

"What's the matter, twinkle-toes?"

The overhead swing would come down, but Joshua would be inside the range of the blade... inside the range of the hilt... so close that the dedicated swing would bring the other's arms down on his shoulders near the tricep and the weight of his own weapon would severely injure the other's elbows due to the pressure.

It had no choice but to release the weapon when its arms came down on the man's shoulders. The ability to move the weapon so quickly as previously displayed was not because the shadow man was particularily strong, but rather because the weapon only appeared to weight eight pounds for it.

With a sudden stop, seventy-five pounts would probbaly break someone's arms, but eight pounds would jolt its fingers to release the weapon.

This man was... odd.

And so, the shadow man's face went forward as its arms bent and went backwards, pulling the man into a headbutt... sort of, depending if he slipped through the shadowman's arms since it hadnt grabbed anything like clothes or his shoulder.

(( Yeah, I was actually factoring that in. Seventy five pounds would break you... eight would cause you to drop the thing from shock and have at least one sore elbow... ))

Joshua brought up both his hands immediately; the other's arms were over his shoulders, and that left him unprotected. Two fists were delivered simultaneously into the other's armpits. The sudden blow to a soft part of the chest would likely knock the wind out of him, and would definately mess with his ability to move his arms for a second or so.

Immediately following the movement, he bent his front leg and dropped down to get his head to about the level of the center of the other's chest. This was twofold: the first, to get out from such any exploitable grapple position, the second, to get low. As any martial artist can tell you, stance is power. Low was Joshua's stance.

His front foot (left) twisted the heel outwards to press his knee against the inside of the other's leg and force it outwards. His right foot twisted similarly, only the heel came in... for power. He thrust with the rear leg, using the front for stability as he put the entirity of his body into his left fist which was already dug in beneath the other's right arm.

With his left leg on the far side of the 'hurdle' Joshua had created with his left, the other had only one leg to stand on, and with a significant amount of force pushing both up and out towards that leg, whether this thing was real or a dream, it would come crashing down either way.

"Nothing to say? ...fine. I don't care who you are," he straightened his stance a little while he had the time, "but don't start any s**t unless you intend to finish it."

It grunted as the man's fists struck its body while in continued to fall forward, grabbing at nothing as the man's head disappeared. And then it was thrown, dropping to the ground on its back as it's body 'bounced' slightly.

It sat up and...

"RRAAAAAAAHHH!" whisps of smoke trailed from its open mouth as it screamed, its one visible eye blood red. And as it began to rise, the space between its wings flared into crimson flames.

Joshua took a step or two back, letting his arms hang loosely at his sides and keeping on the balls of his feet, bouncing slightly like a boxer.

"I've decided," he said, thumbing his nose with a grin.

"There's no way anyone would have sent someone like you to kill me. This has got to just be a case of wrong place - wrong time."

Taking initiative this time, he stepped in quickly; covering the distance between them with a fast pace until about four feet was left between them. At that point he shifted his weight onto his right foot, pivoted on it, and delivered a fierce left side kick towards the center of the other's chest.

"What's your story?"

While still rising, the shadowman lifted its arms in front of itself as the foot came in, slamming against its forearms as it stumbled backward a few steps. It began drawing breath while its crimson wings opened up.

And when its arms began to drop, fists clenched, its body leaned forward slightly as it blew a gout of flames out from its mouth like a flamethrower, its wings making a powerful beat forward to fan the flames even further and add intensity to the heat in the man's direction.

!!!

Joshua had more time than he had needed to recover into a steady stance again after the kick; he would have followed it up immediately with another attack, except for one small thing... flames.

He immediately sidestepped, though the size of the jet of flame was too large for something like that, so the step turned into a roll, aimed past the other's right side. The majority of the gout of flame was avoided, but rolling under the flaming wing was not something that could be avoided so easily. He caught the edge of it, lighting up the back of his shirt before it was extinguished in the roll.

Again he came out of it in a three-point stance; his right fist pressed into the ground and his weight on the balls of his feet.

It turned its head to chase the man while it finished blowing flames, running out of breath just as he escaped. However, it would follow after him, turning its body as it gave chase for a brief moment before it lunged forward when the man stopped rolling, arms extended, fingers poised for grasping as its hands burst into flames.

This time he wasn't waiting, however, like how he had done with the sword. He was crouched low to the ground like an animal waiting to pounce, and he did as soon as the opportunity presented itself.

The other turned, the flaming wing passing by again in order for him to do so, and when the other lunged forwards Joshua was already coming up; his left fist skimming past the surface of the wing as it went over and seeming to gather the flames with it as it went past.

"SHO-RYU-KEN!"

...he couldn't resist. Rising uppercut.

Pak-pak-pak-pak-pak!

The sound echoed out as the shadowman was struck, its hands grasping at the man's head and body while its own head snapped back as it flew into the air and then back down on its back.

5 HIT COMBO

And when it began to rise again, its seething mouth displayed sharp teeth, its fingers like claws. Its appearance seemed more beastial than before as the flames got larger and darker.

Like all Dragon Punch executions, it ended with a barrel roll, and then a perfect landing right below where he had gone off from.

He immediately dropped back his right foot again, taking up a comfortable stance with his left hand half raised at his side, the left foot in front with his side facing the enemy, and his right hand waiting in back for an opportunity to present itself.

Despite the flames that had run down his arm from the last movement, there were only superficial effects of the flame on the skin, no apparent damage. Apparently it just hadn't been hot enough... though there's no telling what might happen with the dark flames.

"Not a big talker, eh?" he asked the other, still grinning. "Just decided to drop by for a visit?"

He stepped in with the left, throwing a backhanded jab at the chin.

The shadow man moved. It lowered itself slightly as it swung its head into the incoming hand, snapping at its knuckles with its teeth like a wild animal as it twisted its body to its left side in the motion. Ever punch someone with braces in the mouth while their mouth was open? It'll cut your knuckles up pretty good.

Its right hand would claw at the man's back during that time just before it would twist back around to its right, left hand following a similar motion but for a slight upwards angle.
PostPosted: Wed Oct 25, 2006 3:45 pm

The knuckles raked across the sharpened teeth, scraping the skin raw and tearing small scrapes in it that let loose a trickle of black blood across the back of the hand. Another hand clawed at his back, but Joshua didn't even flinch at it; the wounds were far too shallow to matter to him.

"Eew! BLOOD!" he suddenly shouted in a high-pitched, girly tone; even as he stepped in quickly with his right to just outside of the other's left foot. He brought the back of his right forearm against the inside of shadowman's elbow, holding off the left before it could even get close, while at the same time he twisted his entire body violently to the left - snapping his left arm backwards across the left side of shadowman's face.

The particular type of bracers that he wore were made with an elbow-length sleeve with layered, overlapping metal sheets fixed onto the back of the forearm. Forget braces, this would feel more like a cheese grater.

((Gots to write this before I go watch a movie.))

WRYYYYYYY!

The shadowman cried out as its face opened up into bloody gashes while it's body snapped to its right side in response, following the movement. Its left arm would have changed directory slightly, having been stopped, slipping around the right arm of the man to dig its claws into the upper arm of the man, around the bicep while piercing flesh. Unless of course, he had some sleaves that could turn away claws.

Its entire body would turn back to its left though, as it would make its own attack in a grappling position. Its right hand would grasp at the man's face in attempt to dig its claws into the man's orifices where bone would not allow it to, while its left hand, grasping at the man's right arm, would pull at the man so that he'd be closer for his fingers to get at. Meanwhile, its wings would begin to fold over so that they may wrap around both figures and cook the other man.
