Nexus could have reacted but he really wanted to help this girl out, if losing was the only way to do so he would have to lose. It's just in his nature to help whoever needs it. So he let the kick connect. It landed on his cheek and stung a little but after it connected he grabbed the girls foot and spun around, throwing her.
