"For some reason, I don't know, I can't get back to the underworld to see if Laurel might be there" runs his hannd through his hair. "I hate knowing that there is a very real possibility that she has been taken from me by those things that have destroyed the mainland."

Ruby grabs his arm again, in the usual Ruby fashion. "'course you do, fathers do that, or at least the good ones." She half smiled.

looks at his arm then shakes his head. " i didn't even know I had a daughter for years and I pretty much haven't been around for her at all so I'd say I'm a bad father..."

Ruby smiled, "Seth, even the greatest father in the world wouldn't be able to do much good, if'n he didn't know he had a child. 'sides, it's not as much that you're not there, as you would come back if you had the option." Ruby's eyes misted, as she thought back. She pushed up her lips into a smile, to hide her own feelings.

Ruby shook her head. "Nah, what I had with Arch was more of a wild road trip thing, and I guess it was somethin not meant to last. Eternal love means somethin entirely different in the eyes of an eternal being. A love that lasts forever for the immortal, is somethin as rare as a life that lasts forever for the mortal." She gave him a soft smirk, "I guess us mortals had to find our immortality somewhere."
She punched his arm, "And now you've got me totally off track, I wasn't thinkin' about the stupid angel at all. I was thinkin about my father."

"What about my father, Sug?" Ruby shrugged. "Didn't know him, didn't care to know me. That's all there was to it. He walked off and left me with Gran and the boys, and that's all there was to it." She let go of his arm and walked a few steps ahead.
