Austin looked at the necklace. It was tacky compared to some of the jewelery that Nixie had. Then again, Sovenn had lavished her with expensive gifts and not so legal or ethical gemstones. "You probably want to go for something chunky," he suggested. "Small and simple things will get lost in your..fur." He had to keep his mind away from the softness of her fur. "And go for bracelets. Maybe a hair-clip or two. You don't need a lot, because you're already beautiful."

Kaori's eyes went wide and she looked away from Austin. She again thanked the stars that her fur covered her blushing. She had to try hard to keep her tail from wagging but her ears managed to twitch a little despite her effort. She set the necklace down on the rack where she had found it and looked around. "So... what would you like to see me in then?" She had said the words before she thought of the possible negative connotation.

That was a loaded question if he ever heard one. There were quite a few things he wanted to see her in. And out of. "Um..." he looked desperately around at the jewelery racks. He saw one necklace that had a so-deep-blue-it-was-almost-purple jewel set in silver. He picked up and held it in front of her. "This could work. What do you think?"

"I think it's perfect for me." She said while looking up at him. She had hardly looked at the necklace but she didn't care. For the first time in her life, she wondered if she would look cute with a bow in her hair. She picked up a red bow on a hair clip and put it in her hair using the mirror that was part of the display. "hmm..." She stopped and thought what am I doing?!?! She looked over at Austin again and it finally dawned on her. She blushed again under her fur while looking up at him. By this time she had forgotten the bow in her hair.

Austin read the awkward expression on her face and he smiled at her. The red hairbow really didn't work. He didn't think she was really a "bow" kinda gal. He reached over and took it out of her hair. "It's not you," he explained as he put it back on the rack. Then Nixie came out of the dressing room. "Alight, got everything?" she asked.

Kaori looked down at the bow as Austin set it back on the rack. And what about you? she thought to herself. She wasn't so easy as to fall all over him but he was the first guy she'd ever even liked much less felt strongly about. Why does he influence me so?She turned at the sound of Nixie and said "Yeah. Austin found a necklace for me. Show her" She said to him.

Austin went around behind Kaori and clapped the necklace around her slender neck. "It will go with almost everything she wears," he explained. "You do have am eye for versatile things," Nixie commented. She was dressed in dark blue slacks and a soft grey boat neck blouse. "One more stop and that's for shoes. Austin, help her collect everything." Austin gathered the clothes Kaori had chosen. Nixie once again went to the register and swiped her card without looking at the total.

whew! Kaori thought She must have forgotten her gown threat. She walked out of the shop, not waiting for Nixie or Austin. She felt like she needed the fresh air. That, and all this annoying shopping was starting to wear on her. Thankfully she was still barefoot, though she knew that was about to change. She just hoped that she didn't have to wear heels for the rest of the day especially since just an hour last night was enough to cause considerable pain.

"You already have semi formal pumps, so you should get some flat walking shoes for daily wear," Nixie suggested. "We'll get the formal shoes when we get your formal gown in Paris."

"Urk... umm... I mean... Paris?" She turned around to face Nixie who had apparently followed her outside. "I hear they have good food there." She smiled and tried to cover up her little lapse in composure. "So I don't have to wear heels today?" Silently she was thanking every god she knew of. The only thing she actually liked about the heels she had gotten was the fact that they could be used as a weapon.

"For the amount of walking you'll be doing add my consultant, heels are impractical," Nixie explained. "But you can't go bare-pawed and expect to be taken seriously." In the store, she pointed out some simple leather flats with good traction. "These are the sort of thing you need."

Kaori inspected the shoes that Nixie was pointing at. She picked out a black pair and tried them on. They were plain other than a small bow on the toes. "Okay. If that's all, we can go now." She felt rather odd. She attributed it to the fact that she hadn't ever worn a skirt before though that was only partly it. This whole new lifestyle of being rich was a bit too much for her to take. She remembered all the people she left behind and felt a bit lonely despite having so many people around her.

"You're looking a little weary," Nixie commented as she paid for the shoes. "Is there anything else we can get before we head back out the the chalet? We have the time." "I could do with a bit of lunch," Austin interjected.

"I'm fine." She said forcing a smile. "But I think Austin is going to expire if he doesn't get food." Kaori was in fact tired and irritated which just complicated things. She didn't want Nixie to think less of her and she especially didn't want to show that kind of weakness in front of Austin.

"Then we'll get some lunch," Nixie agreed and led the way back to the car. Austin fell into step beside Kaori. "Still feeling hungover?" he asked softly. "I could get you something to help with that."
