The black spent a long time looking at the boys, mumbling to himself in little chirps and rumbles and hiccups. Keeping a running dialogue, this one might possibly even think aloud!

At length, however, his gaze shifted to the girls and he started towards them, taking deliberate, carefully paced steps unlike his black brother. He avoided the pile of broken egg as well, though he never stopped making noise, albeit he did quieten.

Eager for another dragon in their midst, the girls crowded forward hoping for a repeat of the Crimson but the black ignored them, stopping away from the group to catch his breath. One brave soul stepped forward, followed by another and a third, and Brakiath roared loud enough to shake the supports of the stands.

The black started and fell over himself as he tried to flee that roared warning, spending all but the last of his energy when he finally collapsed in the group of the girls.

Niyx made no move to fight being escorted off the sands. She went willing and quietly only glancing over her shoulder for a second at the little black. The one she'd promised to paint. It had made it from the egg and was safe now if only he would find his.

Go on. Niyx thought as she moved to slip through one of the back entrances on her way to her punishment.

Siano watched the poor confused black and stood a little further back then the rest, perhaps the one he wanted was not on the sands but on the stands. She admired all the little dragonets and was delighted to be so close to one but she didn't dare step forward as the great mother was staring fireballs in their direction.

Akaya again was reminded of Sleeth in the black now on the Sands as he made a range of chirps and sounds not unlike Sleeth's early attempts at chattering a song. And it seemed he too intended to choose a girl. For all his chattering, the deliberate steps and lack of clumsiness would suggest he knew quite well what he was up to. The girls being scolded by Brakiath and the ensuing shaking had Akaya reaching for S'koi's elbow in minor worry. But before long, she was craning to see what had become of the little black. He'd fallen, which wasn't good, but perhaps he could get His to come to him...?

Oh hey, he was coming their way! But a couple of the girls became over-eager at the approach and Roeline had to cringe at another warning roar from Brakiath. Oh, that poor black had been frightened too. Was he going to be alright? She knew atyps didn't really have much energy when they first came out of their eggs... All she could hope was that he'd still be able to find His from where he was, because it didn't seem that the girls crowding all around was going to be much of a help now.

Okay, that roar was definitely enough to pull her attention back to the Hatching for a moment. Nawa and Rioth both turned their heads to look, but couldn't see much of anything, since the other black lay in the midst of the crowd of girls. What was going on? Would he be alright?

Nawa hugged her dragon tightly, watching in suspense.

F'ren shook his head... surely the girls would have learned after one incident already. He sighed and watched the little Black, hoping that he wouldn't Between or even just die.... He watched carefully while at the same time keeping up a running commentary for Toulonth. He rolled his shoulders a little as he relaxed muscles he hadn't realised were tense. Hatchings always got him a little anxious. He'd be glad to get back to Toulonth's weyr and give her a little pampering when the hatching was over.

Would they never learn? While he could see how the crimson beckoning them all before may have set a precedent, it still wasn't a good idea to simply try to approach a newly hatched dragon unless it called you. The second roar from the gold didn't particularly surprise him, though the greenrider beside him reaching for his elbow certainly did. He blinked in surprise for a second before offering her a faint smile. "Just a warning it seems." Of course, the warning appeared to have briefly set the latest hatchling running. Hopefully he didn't exert himself too much in the process.

As fortune had it, girl at whose feet he had collapsed was none other then Roeline. He thwumped his tail against the ground wearily looked up at her as he Impressed.

Carry your Wofth to eat, Roemine? I am tired.

"You all are doing quite well." Narisa murmured to the Candidates standing around her and the eggs.

She was rather proud of the Candidates. And excited for all the new weyrlings. She definitely would make an effort to meet each of them and congratulate them. But first, she needed to move on to the next egg. Gaze traveling along the remaining eggs, she stepped over to the Sweet as Sin, raised the shovel, and gave it a strong thunk.

The egg rolled at that swipe and knocked against the only remaining egg, which also wiggled - a tiny bit - and the Sweet as Sin egg seemed to expand as the hatchling used all her strength to push out. Covered in goo and bits, the crimson emerged chattering almost as much as the black.

Selene had sighed in relief when the eggs had begun to hatch once more she'd been a bit worried. She smiled at the Black as it stumbled a bit. Then the Crimson came out of her shell and walked over to the girls. The poor thing was being crowded a bit so Selene had stayed where she'd been to wait and watch. Selene smiled happily as Tessth called her and walked over kneeling down to hug Hers. I'm so glad you found me. Let's get you some food. She limped a bit now with only a small bit of pain left. The joy of finding Hers exceeding the pain in her leg. She began to feed Tessth calmly.
Selenemine, you must see the Healers.
I will after you are nice and full...

A second Crimson, this boded better for this hatching, While they needed more Bronzes and Browns, any color dragon was a boost for the weyr, Hopefully none of those down on the sands would be disappointed too badly when some of them failed to Impress and he didn't envy the work ahead for those with Atypicals, he knew from raising his Flits that it was hard to even keep them alive. Granted, dragons were a bit easier than Fire Lizards but still, the principal was the same. He was glad the tired Black found His though and he kept his gaze on the Crimson, watching her carefully.

Really another crimson? The clutch was practically full of them. Weren't they supposed to be rare? Hekate mentally questioned as she peered through the throng of bodies with one eyebrow arched.

She certainly was making quite a bit of noise as well. Where all hatchling dragons talkitive? Or was this clutch just unusual in that fashion? Shrugging her shoulders Hekate settled down to wait and see what would cone.

With the gold yelling at the candidates and scaring the black on to his tail, it was amazing that there weren't more yells from the sands and stands. Smiling as it was clear the little black had found his. The blue rider remembered his Impression and could see the same look in the eyes as it happened with this hatching.

S'kiro was truly surprised as another crimson emerged from the egg. This one was talkative, in a way. He looked at the remaining Candidates, wondering which would be Hers.

Lena blinked as the black collapsed in front of the Candidate her attention had been focused on watching, looked to S'ren, and then back to the pair as Roeline's eyes unmistakeably showed her Impression. Lena let out a whoop, clapped the brownrider beside her on the back and grinned. "Congratulations, big brother~" Being as the girl was from Beastcraft stock and had apparently been a dutiful study regarding dragons in her candidate lessons, Lena had every assurance the pair would do just fine even if the next few months would be busy and trying ones.

Ooh, and what was this below? A chatty crimson? For a clutch that'd lacked a queen, two crimsons wasn't bad at all. Granted, neither of them might choose to be breeders and even then the task of attempting to breed a crimson was really all down to luck. But the possibility was still there. Lena's eyes flickered to the last remaining egg briefly, wondering just what was inside...or would the Hatching end on a sour note with another dud? Ah well, no matter how it went, S'ren and his family would be celebrating tonight, and Lena had every intention of inviting herself to the festivities.

Nawa breathed a sigh of relief when the other black Impressed, and Rioth lifted his head to nuzzle her cheek. Her gaze lingered on the Sands long enough to see another crimson freed from its shell, but she soon turned her attention back to Hers, where it belonged. She was curious to see what color dragon would hatch from the final egg, but not to the extent that she would have been before. Now it was only the most idle of curiosities.

Offering Rioth another small piece of meat, she stroked his eyeridges. Both were quiet, basking in their new bond. They didn't need to say anything.
