Romero had already finished dressing, but when he opened the dorm door to follow Luis to pick up Juliana and their schedules, he saw that the Argentinian had barely even left the room. Indeed, he was standing just outside the door, paralyzed with fear. "What are you hanging around here for, despacio?" he demanded.

Then he saw Franny, and the Venezuelan understood why Luis hadn't gone anywhere.

"Oh, it's you, Franny..." He sighed, running a hand through his sepia hair. "Why haven't you gone back to Connecticut yet? Did you have too much fun scaring mi hermanito or something?"

Then Romero remembered what he had gone looking for Luis for,and turned his head to address his brother specifically. "I almost forgot. If you don't find Juliana in her dorm, she might be in Ruti's and Juan's. Remember the party you suggested I attend, the one I told you about last night? She probably left for her dorm even later than I did, if at all."

Luis Esteban pouted at Romero. He may be younger than the Venezuelan, but he better not forget, he was the biggest Spanish-speaking nation in the world. His expression saddened when his brother mentioned the party that Juliana attended. The one in where he heard they kiss. "S-Si...." He hoped it was all just a drunken act.

Romero watched as his brother's pout--a not entirely warranted one at that, for however much bigger his country was than his own, Luis was still his timid little brother, even if the 'little' part wasn't entirely true--morphed quickly into a downtrodden frown. "What's wrong, Luis?" he asked, although a part of his brain was shouting, What now, hermanito?

Franny A free spirt that stays with Conneticut for some reason...

The ghost couldn't help but smile when Luis jumped, "ha scared you again." she sang. When she was asked why she wasn’t with Conne at the moment she shrugged, 'wasn't at his dorm...I already looked...He and Brazil share a dorm by the way." she added off topic about Conne and Brazil sharing the dorm.

When Luis left Franny glared at Romero, "I did not enjoy getting hit by a bat last night" she said crossing her arms over her chest. "And Luis doesn’t like you flirting with Juliana."

Romero stared after his brother perplexedly. What had gotten into him? He wasn't normally this recalcitrant.

When Franny accused him of flirting with Juliana, he met her glare with equal ire. What was she so mad at him for? "You call that flirting? It's a party with alcohol, and might I add it was one in which neither of us did more than talk and hug? We never danced together, and we certainly never kissed. But I commend you for mentioning it," he added sarcastically. "You've got more huevos than Luis does. If he has a problem with Juliana's promiscuity, he should say it to her face. Or mine, if you've already misled him."

Franny rolled her eyes, "Yes but i saw you, you like her, and i don't think its fair." she uncrossed her arms. "You know Luis like her too! Why aren't you helping him getting used to talking to people? He told me himself he has trouble talking to people cause he thinks he will say something to upset them." Franny said. "You’re being a bad friend and bad Brother." she concluded. "At least I was trying to help him, and I only just met him" she mumbled.

The Venezuelan sighed. Had she not heard a single thing he’d said? “You’re arguing like a child,” he complained. “You might think I started it, but it was Juliana.” Indeed; since he hadn’t had much to drink last night, Romero remembered with distinction that Juliana had almost kissed him after he had swung the bat through Franny, who she had thought was a demon. But Rutilio had interrupted her before she could ever finish. Why didn’t that ghost remember that? She had been watching them from in front, after all. And only hugs had followed…

However, Romero was stunned at the ghost’s next declaration. "Qué? Luis likes Juliana? Really? And he told you? He never told me... Not even Juliana knows that…"

But if the ghost had told Luis that Romero had flirted with his crush, that would certainly explain why the Argentinian seemed more shut out and unwilling to talk to him than normal.

Romero groaned and rubbed his forehead wearily. "The job of a brother is not to be nice, but to train him for the world beyond,” he muttered. “See, Franny, this is why America has so many enemies; he never reads up on the history between the very people he tries to help... That’s why he got Japan so mad at him before Pearl Harbor, lost China, lost Korea, and lost Vietnam…” He debated whether he should tell her more, and decided to go ahead and summarize the history between him and his timid little brother. “In the past, when Luis and I were both part of the Spanish Empire, we were friends. But then England came to take us away from Antonio, and since Colombia and I were closest to him—we border the Atlantic Ocean--we got most of the wars. We spent centuries fighting England, and Luis and Chile hardly lifted a finger to help! After World War Two, he had been brainwashed by that pacifistic, pathetic Catholic Church of his, and he begged either religious leave or distance to avoid more wars. He’s always done that, and while I fought the wars to keep South America free, he stayed back and shut himself up. It's his own fault that he's too timid to stand up for himself and too infatuated with Juliana to see that she isn't about to wait around for Luis to get his huevos back and tell her flat out he likes her! And don’t worry,” the Venezuelan added angrily, “I’m not looking for any soul mates right now, and quite frankly, neither is Juliana. After you left, she avoided me for the rest of the party to dance with that Georgian, Kartlos!”

Romero had gotten rather worked up in this little rant to Franny, and he still had no idea why he even bothered to tell her so much. What did she care that he was mad at Luis for leaving him and Colombia alone to fend off Great Britain all those years ago? Why would she care if he despised the Catholic Church for making a wimp of his former best brother? Why should she care that neither of them could proudly say to each other that they still cared? Perhaps that invitingly innocent American naiveté was also the reason why Alfred even had friends…

The Venezuelan paused to calm himself down before continuing in a much more level voice. “If Luis really likes Juliana, he should have told me so long ago. We're not so disconnected that I wouldn't listen to him and stay away from her. I'm already trying to talk to Luis and restore the love we once had, but he refuses to tell me anything! Because of England, and because of my admittedly not-so-nice attempts to get him to join me in Gran Colombia, mi hermanito never says a word of his true feelings to anyone.” Well, maybe the Argentinian confided in that white horse of his, but that was beside the point. “If you’re Luis’ best friend now, then why don't you tell him that he needs to open that big Spanish mouth of his if he ever wants to get anything in his life?"

Franny seemed dumbstruck by the Venezuelan's outburst, at least for now. He took her silence as a chance to walk down the hall toward Juliana's dorm before pausing halfway there. Romero wondered whether Luis would've worked up the guts to punch him for spilling their past out to an American stranger or whether he would've broken down in tears like he normally would. But more importantly, Romero's outburst had made him think: Would he have knocked Luis out for such righteous indignance or would he have let the Argentinian cry on his shoulder?

Dios, he didn't know anymore...

Out of Caracas: Juevos = eggs/balls, depending on how it is used. || And there we have why Romero beats up on Luis, perhaps with a slight bias; he is a fiery nation, after all, and can exaggerate those wars if he's left alone to fight them. || Gran Colombia was Simon Bolivar's attempt to unify South America. In the end, his tactics, ranging from diplomatic to threatening, won only Colombia, Panama, and Ecuador. || In the months before Pearl Harbor, Japan tried to negotiate with America (within about a six-month period) for its freedom to control East Asia, and the message was lost in translation/America dawdled for so long that they got tired of waiting and attacked (after the 6-month deadline was up).

Pork, he is telling the truth. || Lu, is all that history OK with you?

This is the longest OOC I've ever written. :O

Franny sat quite for a few minutes when he left the room, she did not like his tone of his voice through the whole little rant he had given her. "Go to hell..." she mumbled. Now she really missed her little state.

She gave a sigh and floated out of the room to find Connecticut.

Romero’s fingers twitched when he heard the ghost’s last, feeble attempt to rile him up again. Then, hearing her sigh and fade away, he smirked. That would teach her not to judge a book by its cover.

He turned his wrist so that his palm was facing up and checked his watch. First period was halfway over already?! What was taking Luis so long? If Juliana took much longer to get ready, they all would be late to class! The Venezuelan walked swiftly down the hall to Dorm 22 to warn them.

Luis Esteban's first day of school turned out to be nice. it was a bit sad that he couldn't enjoy it with Juliana... Guess she had better things to do... Once his things were safe in the dorm, he grabbed a brush and headed out to see his white mare, Esperanza. "Hola, Esperanza. it's time to brush your mane." he petted her headed before he started to brush her. Just a little something to do before Romero brings in his friends.

Romero strolled into the dorm he and Luis shared, whisting a happy tune not unlike his traditional joropo. It seemed that Luis wasn't inside, and he figured the Argentinian was outside tending to his horse Esperanza.

"Hola, Luis," he shouted out the window to his brother as he set his backpack down in a little corner by the sofa. That greeting should suffice to get his attention. The Venezuelan made for the kitchen and turned on the stove in preparation to cook.
