Bismuthite might have seemed to be assessing Serandite, as she approached, but really he wondered why she did so. Maybe he was a little too jumpy...guarded. Even with those who were to be his comrades. However all that would go away as another small bout of caught came, and he gladly accepted the water.
"Thank you. I...really wasn't paying any attention to what I'd picked up before. ...just something to get rid of the scratch," he felt the need to explain. Perhaps it was an old habit of saving face. Although whatever he'd had before, it had only made his throat burn. The water was much more appropriate, and again he thanked the general, giving uncertain, quick, faltering, tight-lipped smiles.

Aree was drunk! Well, it certainty wasn't the frame of mind he wanted her to have a kitten with, especially after what he had seen her arm do in the past and he could only imagine Aree's arm hacking up a decomposed hairball later. Ugh - not a pretty image and just imagine that sound echoing through the Negaverse chambers!
Stepping in, he held his hand out for a moment, believing that this was an order he could at least suggest shouldn't be followed. Still, these days, he was very much on edge of even making a peep over anything that sounded remotely authoritative. "I think there is plenty over at the refreshment table that would do better for your system than a kitten, Aree." A brief moment of familiarity passed through him as he remembered scolding her for not eating well enough. It was like old times. Back in the day.........
He sneezed. Oh great. He forgot. Cat!
He covered his noise with the back of his sleeve. "Aliens are one thing, but I don't think a kitten is a nice way to appreciate a present, not to mention how skinny it is. There is a platter over there if you want me to get you something." Maybe something that would help her somber up, not that he wasn't a bit buzzed himself. Even though he knew this, he even felt like having another drink - especially when his attention flickered to see Serandite handing a drink to Bismuthite. Jealousy? As If! And he'd cut you for saying otherwise!
He sneezed again, already feeling stuffy, as he held his free hand out, the present tucked under the other arm. "I don't think letting your arm have a taste for cat is a good thing for the guardians in the end either." Again, he sneezed.

Ilmenite made a very soft sound at Tanzanite's enthusiasm, hesitating uncertainly; that look in her eye made him uncomfortable, certain that this poor little kitten was about to meet a very unfortunate end. As such, he chewed on the inside of his cheek for a moment, scratched under the terrified creature's chin, and leaned in a little as he finally set the fluffball down into Benoitite's arms.
"For the love of God, don't let her eat it, alright?" His voice was low. Likely not low enough for Tanz to miss the words, though.

Perhaps Wolframite had saved him from handing over the kitten, as it seemed she really might eat the poor fluff ball, he really hoped that was the case as he now found his arms filled with white fluff. A small smile was given to the white haired general. "I won't, I don't think I could handle seeing it eaten, especially since I just got General Painite a kitten as well." He had noted the low voice of the unknown, to him at least, General and had lowered his voice accordingly.
He really hoped his room wasn't a mess from the kitten he was keeping there till he was ready to bestow the gift to the General. Holding the white kitten in his arms he gently pet the small creature, it seemed like the chaos of the earlier fight had upset the poor kitten. Hoping that the General-Queen wouldn't hurt the little creature, he was sure he couldn't handle it, he held onto it as he waited to see what would happen.
Slate eyes gazed up at the taller officer, hoping to let him know, silently, that he wouldn't let the kitten in his arms come to such harm.

"I see." Serandite took his explanation with a thoughtful murmur, taking Bismuthite at face value. But to her, that was all the value it was-- a scratch in his throat that made the poor negaverse officer throw up his stomach contents. She assumed it was the spiked drink--
-- not that Serandite ever had a sip of alcohol. Serandite merely assumed that alcohol was a bad bad thing to always steer away from. "Don't drink sweet things. It'll make your throat worse. The sugar, I mean." Serandite warned him with a carefree demeanor of someone who wasn't suffering from the same symptoms. She turned her gaze to watch the show in front of them, Tanazanite versus the kitten.
A wonderful show, really.

Wise or not Zink had gone for the spiked beverages this time around. Anything to try and calm him down again after the brief flurry of ‘I know where that hand has been’, because if anyone here did it was probably Tanzanite, and Howlite’s comment, no matter how innocent hadn’t exactly helped. He offered Obby a slightly mocking toast and a smile before taking a sip and watching with interest as Tanzanite was given her Christmas gift.
“Oh dear.” He said quietly, imagining the likely fate of it. Optimist he wasn’t, not after all this time. On a positive note she lacked her Youma arm at this time, and that if nothing else would increase its life expectancy, or at least he hoped so.
“I’m going to be curious where you found that little bundle of fluff.” He addressed Ilmenite though he was a bit sketchy about making eye contact.

He'd never vomited, and if he had known Serandite thought whatever vomit she did see was his, he'd of been offended. It probably belonged to some very green lieutenant who had been at the party. But no, he'd only been coughing up a lung, not stomach contents.
"Well, thanks for the advice," he said, with scarcely an ounce of true thanks in his words. He found it hard to be humble, and hard to graciously accept the help and advice of others. Still, he was making an effort. A valiant one at that, if you were to ask him. However with his thanks he took a long stride, then another, away from the General - best to get away before he really did get annoyed. And of course, it was not Serandite's fault, Bismuthite was just... Well, who knew, really?
And with that, he too turned his attention to the kitten fiasco. He looked deadpan, which turned into a look that probably made him look high, as he had already been wearing the weary expression of someone who should have been in bed. But seriously, a kitten? If Bismuthite had gotten Tanzanite...Aree anything it probably would have been a copy of 101 Things Lodged Inside the Human Body, or something equally hilarious and gruesome. Then again that might not have bode well for other members of the Negaverse if she had decided to reenact one of those scenes. He would have really hated to be the one with the bicycle pump lodged up his a**...

"Shelter, Zed." It was offered sideways to Zink, his head tipped to the side and his own eyes touched with just a hint of amusement as he looked down at his General-King. Ilmenite tugged on the hem of his sweater, pulled his jacket in more over it, mostly obscuring the three-dimensional face of Rudolf emblazoned on the front. Whatever.
"I may have put you as, uh, secondary adoptee. With your number and everything." He licked his lips, tone still quiet, between the pair of them -- watching Benoitite with the kitten and wondering how the hell that kid had ended up recruited to the Negaverse. "...you know. After I told them I had a well-paying, full-time job, to prove that there'd be someone home 24/7. That place was crazy."

“Well, at least I’ll know to make something up if they call my phone and ask how the kitten is, and they won’t think you forgot it in a closet as a Christmas surprise.” He said somewhat bemused into the rim of his cup. “You may have to tell me about that job though.” He teased lofting an eyebrow and then turning his gaze towards Benitoite with an odd look in his eyes and a soft ‘Hrmmm’ sound, though nothing more came of it.
“Am I going to find anything extra at the apartment or are we safe from tiny pointy things for a little while longer?”

"Neither of us makes enough to feed a cat." It was dry, came with a quick look and a brief flash of a smile before Ilmenite waved him off -- slipping away from Zink to mingle more properly, apparently confident that there were enough people around to stop Tanz from unhinging her jaw and devouring the little creature.
Not that he had evidence she could do that but -- best to be safe.
