Eris was completely out of it. Completely. Out of it. The white light had vanished, along with the voices, but she still felt the screaming in her head, ringing loudly in her ears to the point where she'd hardly heard Arel making such a racket about standing there. She wasn't much in the mood to tolerate him anyways, at the moment -- right now, War's heir was far too rattled, her sanity shaken to the core. Not nearly as far as Cymbeline, but it seemed she was rapidly on her way. She hadn't even seemed to notice the loud shriek, which had blended so nicely with the screaming in her own head that it was only until Arel started moving that she started following, a little compulsively, the golden sword materializing in her hand.
Apparently she at least had the presence of mind not to use fire while Arel was around.
While the tiny secretary did battle with the tree, Eris turned her head to glance over at the other students around, peering at them as if not quite recognizing them for what they were, looking intrigued but utterly bewildered. They seemed preoccupied, which only let her linger to watch uninterrupted, cocking her head slowly after a second before returning her attention to the tree, now frozen. Arel had done well... better than the heirs had been doing recently. Slipping into an offensive posture, she tensed half a second before the winged horsemen launched herself into the air, drawing back her sword to slash at the branches, her wings beating up an icy wind and stray pine needles down onto those below.

[[ENTERING FROM HORSEMEN]]
Invictus had taken a moment to check on the three girls again - it seemed Cymbeline was fine, but Eris and Aisa had seemed almost as effected by things as he had been - and he was not pleased by this development at all. Especially when the Santa Scout that Arel had bludgeoned into submission had...well.... he knew what that darkness it had dissolved into had meant.
He knew all too well. Still, like Eris, it seemed he too realized it was time to move after their little...interloping situation previously, touching his forehead and scalp lightly, then looking at his fingers. It seemed he'd drawn blood from himself - that would be an interesting thing to have to explain later... his.... crown of thorns, perhaps. But he didn't linger on it long, watching as Eris struck at the tree, sending debris everywhere.
He reached out with a hand, seeming to make each piece of debris his 'own', before he sent it flying back against the tree, pieces of it smashing apart ineffective, but a few seeming to get rather sturdy blows anyways.
Beautiful.
But he knew he could do better.
HP: 60/60 Damage: 5 (Invi, I just don't roll well as you, what is even...) Boss's Remaining HP: 199 - 10 (for Eris) - 5 = 184

((Cymbeline enters from the horsemen thread~))
Cymbeline cackled quietly to herself, the crunch of glass ornaments in her hand was nothing compared to the pain still running through her nerves, the insanity a stinging burn in her veins. This feeling, these whispers... As the whiteness receded and her senses returned, the heir grinned further. Wasn't that how she knew she was still alive? That pain, humming low under the whispers of Insanity, sometimes rising in a sharp crescendo, the plaintive song of a living, dying creature.
She once again knew who she was, at least on the surface, that shell of a husk of a carapace. And there was Insanity in the air, and a weapon on her belt, and what else was she to do than laugh and throw herself once again into that hopeless fight? Who could best madness, really, to let it touch you was to fall into nothingness... But to fight another beast like herself, a puppet of the insanity, that she could do!
Swinging her scales like bolas, the ghoul joined her 'siblings' in the fight against that Insanity-infested piece of vegetation. And there was much glee to be had!

[ENTERING FROM HORSEMEN THREAD]
Insanity was attractive. What called to them ever so pleasantly, ripping their heads off, had sent out a desperate invite. Perhaps, not the most alluring kind but it was the sort to force their hand. Jerking the heir of Death forth, causing her mind to still spin in half-circles. A feeling that only came from the early stages of youth, when the world still had yet to make sense around them. A sort of freedom in losing themselves .. However, the heir of Death was pulled back with the instinctive thought, losing herself was out of the question. The weight of her scythe was a great one to bear ..
Aisa was not far in her thoughts that one's weapon was their other half. Without her other half of heirs and weapons combined, there were a few times where Aisa might not have made it. But it was okay to lose herself a little right? Just a little? Aisa's scythe regaining it's shape, a hazy black wispy substance wrapping around the weapon like hands reaching forward, created a half-formed weapon.
"Is this the voice? I don't hear it-- Whispering ever so softly .. I can't hear it anymore. Where is it?"

It occurred to the secretary at some point between freezing the tree to the ground and freezing the tree to the ground that he was doing a great job wasting his time. At this rate, Hellma was never going to get her Jackforsaken supplies, he would never get back to the school, which pretty much meant he would be working - the dreaded word - overtime.
If there was one thing worse than working overtime it was working overtime with no pay.
With a disgruntled sort of senseless mutter at the thought of no pay, Arel took another look at the tree, paying absolutely no notice the damage caused mostly because it was doing a good job of squishing those annoying elf things that kept on wandering around, and reinforced its tree roots with another layer of ice, just to make sure it didn't come chasing after him or something.
He took a look at the Heirs - while it would have been nice to have bodyguards for the trek back, they were preoccupied enough, not to mention, it just wasn't as nice to have four slightly insane bodyguards for the trek back. With a last furtive glance at the group, he slipped behind the tree and through the smashed-open door where the Santa Scout machine had been wandering around earlier.
There was also the question of where exactly these things were coming from, this was by far the same Joy creatures that attacked last year or really, the years prior. Something was seriously off. NPC EFFECT NPC EFFECT: BONUS ROUNDS + FROSTBITE- Each player this round can attack up to three times. - In addition damage has no accuracy lost from last round's Frostbite effect. The tree is all but slowed down to a permanent stop. (Ie: if you roll 5 and 6, you do 11 flat out damage

Invictus didn't even notice as the Secretary took his leave of the group, just grinning - almost seeming to enjoy himself as the whispers flooded through his mind, then fled away again. He so missed the noise, but...
the sound of the three girls and their violence was more than enough for Invictus as he watched them for a few moments, finally reaching out again, his brows furrowing together as he clenched his hand into a fist, pulling the gravity of the room down underneath his hand as the bow seemed to flicker into it, then out of it again.
One strong blow to pull down on those branches - the same branches that attempted to harm him by dropping onto him.
Pathetic. All pathetic.
Such small resistance.
The look on his face said everything - Conquest was beginning to enjoy himself.

"Arel left already? I suppose it's okay to burn the tree now.." Aisa's internal debate of transforming into their inherent horse nature .. but such a transformation was a stifling one, in this maul. Her scythe slashed a fallis branch, the wood landing cleanly into two pieces, dropping to her sides.
"Swing .. swing.."
It seemed that the heir had decided on the former for now. Bis of ice flew towards her, a wet sensation dotting her cheeks and bared legs. It was far too cold to be mistaken for droplets of blood but similarly satisfying all the same. Hacking away, Aisa sidestepped a branch on the ground, slicing as she stepped upwards to the top of the tree.

A shrill peal of laughter echoed through the maul as Cymbeline was knocked over by a falling branch. But it wasn't a joyful laugh, it was full of malice, and unpredictable madness. Oh, but this tree would pay, even those who shared her taint, if they dared lash out at her... The heir would DESTROY IT.
Her scales had not the direct force of a scythe or an arrow, but when she swung it just so... The weight of it, the velocity and the power it gathered... Oh, the sound of branches snapping was like the crush of bones~
With a cackle of pure Insanity, Cymbeline artfully swung those scales, somehow managing to avoid hitting her siblings in the process. After all. She had all those hours, days, WEEKS AND YEARS of practice!

It seemed that the four were being rebelled against, even int heir own way of attacking. With the bow in hand, he again twisted his arm, his eyes narrowing even as he again was hit with a fall of debris, crinkling his nose with a severe disapproval for what was happening there - how dare something so... wretched lash out at them? He wouldn't have it in the least.
He brushed the debris off of himself, as heavy as it was, taking it up in his other hand and forcing it away from him without even moving, his eyes narrowing ever so slightly, though he still seemed to be rather pleased by what was going on. He did so enjoy taking one's weapon and turning it against them in retaliation to their actions.
Disaster.
Disaster everywhere.
It was beautiful.
Never the less, he soon drew his hand back to himself, leaving enough time for the other heirs to attack before he would bring in another assault upon the tree, as pathetic as it was.

At the entrances of the Maul, there was a great and sudden crash, and cloaked figures began to make their way through, destroying Christmas creatures in a smooth, organized wave of controlled violence. As they reached the center of the Maul, a reptilian snout turned toward the Horsemen, and the Boogeyman in charge rasped out, "Leave. We'll handle it from here."
Throughout the Maul, the Boogeymen have begun to take down the enemies, as well as ushering out the previously trapped shoppers.
The Maul is now open! Shoppers are free to leave, or remain and attempt to hold their own amongst the boogeymen as they take down the holiday invaders! Students who try to enter Amityville will find that not only is the school missing, but that Boogeymen have blocked minors from entering the area! Horsemen, ToTers, and school staff members not currently trapped inside the school do have access.

The real Boogeymen eventually did destroy the Tenacious Tree, and clear the Maul. It took several weeks for the repairs to finish, but for months afterward, the scent of peppermint would linger in the air. And every so often, in the empty, lonely spaces...wisps of fog would seem to trail across the air, only to disappear moments later. A trick of the eye?
