The woman watched the memory play out in front of her. To her it seemed like an ordinary memory. Or what would have to be an ordinary memory for ordinary teenagers. Parties weren't something she had personal experience with. Her eyes lit up at it, wondering what the hell spin the bottle was and if it really had to do with kissing, as Nathan suggested.
Then she saw the look shot between Nathaniel and the girl and she felt her heart constrict. Only a few seconds passed as the image faded. She could not keep her mouth closed on that issue.
"You loved that one girl, didn't you?" she asked softly.

He looked up at Andromeda as she asked the question. He couldn't lie when it was this obvious could he. He simply nodded and placed the locket into the box once again. He looked down the box trying to distract himself. He didn't know whether she would ask anymore questions. He didn't really mind. He had to talk to someone about it anyways sooner or later. His mother knew absolutely nothing about it, neither did his father.
The picture slipped out of his pocket again, but this time he merely looked at it on the floor, and went back to rummaging in the box. "Remember that question you asked me about soulmates?" He asked quietly. "Is it possible for a person to lose their soulmate? Or does that just mean, that person was never meant to be their soulmate?"

A sad smile crossed her lips. Maybe the two weren't destined to be together after all. It was hard to see things in a romantic sense when he was so clearly still wounded from that girl. Andromeda didn't know the circumstances behind what had driven the two apart and she only speculated a moment. This was not her business unless he wanted to share it all with her.
"Perhaps." she told him. "Its hard to say in that matter. Maybe they were your soulmate and you are just separated in this lifetime. Maybe you'll be able to meet each other when the wheel goes around again and are reborn. If you are truly meant to be, the red string of fate will connect you throughout anything, no matter what

He chuckled softly. If only things worked that way. He didn't believe in being reborn. He didn't believe it at all. Neither did he want to be. What's the use of going through life again if you've already done all you can in one life. He ran the edge of a dull blade against his thumb as he said softly, "Do me one favour. It's nothing big."
"If you ever leave, don't leave without saying goodbye." He continued playing with the blade, and grabbed it by the intricate looking handle. He gently ran it across his palm. The blade didn't do a thing to him. It was too dull now to do anything. Thinking that, he gently ran the tip across a line in his palm. He wasn't as gently as he had planned to be, for he watched his hand as blood slowly started trickling down his palm.
He let out a scream of pain, as he gripped his wrist with his free hand. He had completely forgotten about this artifact. The blade wasn't too sharp, but once it broke through skin, it would cause pain that was beyond anyones imagination. He watched as more blood ran out of what had once been a thin cut. His eyes quickly scanned the box in front of him. There had to be something in here to stop it !

Of course she wouldn't leave without saying goodbye. She highly doubted she would leave anyway. Her dream was a lofty one to her. Getting out of being a servant was nearly impossible. They made no money, so their was no saving for a brighter future. If one was ballsy enough, they might ask Ruby for assistance, but that was something no one wanted to do. Since the death of her husband the monarch had been peculiar.
The game he was playing with that dagger was a dangerous one. There was something off about it. Unknown to her, very much like her mother, she had magical powers that slept within her. There were times she thought she could almost feel it but she always rode it off as something else. However, whenever she was in contact with magical items or things she could feel the energy pulse off of them.
"Wait!" she exclaimed but it was too late. He had cut himself with it. She covered her ears as he wailed in agony. "Oh, s**t..."
She looked up and saw that the cut was growing, too. Blood spilled freely from it. She let out a gasp and hurried over to him. What could she do?! Was there something actually in that box?! Panic filled her and she dug into it, tearing out items as quickly as she could. Throbbing started in her hands and she followed its intensity.
Her hands wrapped around something and the nearly intolerable pulse stopped. She pulled it up and looked. It was... it was a small book? Dismay filled her eyes and the thing opened before her and flipped pages through until it landed on a page.
"I can't read this!"
She hurried back over to Nathan. "Tell me what to do! I know you hurt but just let me know how to fix it from this book... please!"

He grit his teeth. The pain was too much. He watched as she rummaged through the box. He tried to grin, but merely winced in pain. He bit his lip to hold back the screams. He took deep breaths and looked at the foreign writing. "It says.." He let out another scream as the pain dug deeper into him.
It coursed through his body now, leaving parts of him numb from pain. "I-It says to find the .." He winced in pain again. "T-the tears of a phoenix.." He bit on his lip again, holding back the screams. He let go of his wrist and started to rummage through the box with his uninjured hand. "I-it's a light blue liquid.. in a clear vial.." He said panting.

"I'll look for it!" she exclaimed and she took his uninjured arm, forcing him away from the box.
Again she was digging through it like a mad woman. Her eyes were wild, paling in their fear to a pristine moonbeam gold. A blue glass vial! A blue glass vial! A blue glass vial! She thought the words over and over again as she rummaged.
A shimmer appeared from the discarded pile and something rose. It, too, had that same light shade of gold radiating from it. Not questioning the streak of luck, she reached out for it and unquarked the vial. She poured its contents on his wound.
She waited to see the reaction, panting loudly.

As the liquid spilled over his arm, he let out a sigh of relief. The wound slowly healed itself. He opened his eyes, as he moved his wrist. He grinned, realizing that it was completely healed. He then frowned slightly.
"You used up all the phoenix tears. Now I'm going to have to find a phoenix again." He chuckled, and picked up the blade. He placed it gently in the box, and before closing it, he grabbed the locket and wore it around his neck. "Enough of this box for today."

Andromeda flushed deeply in embarrassment. She didn't know how much to use. She didn't even know that phoenixes existed outside of mythology. A hand pressed against her cheek and her fingers were warmed by the rosy feeling of it. Was he mad at her for it? Were the creatures that hard to come by?
"I am sorry," she whispered softly. "I didn't mean to use all of your supplies. Is it... is it difficult to find a phoenix?"

He snickered. "I was joking. I'm pretty sure mother owns a phoenix, or there's one near here for sure." He grinned at her and said, "Thank you, that was.. quite painful." He simply glared at the box in his lap, as if it was the cause of his stupidity.
He leaned back and sighed. "Now that I'm not dying, what were we talking about again?" He had completely forgotten the subject they were on due to the pain coming from his wrist. He ran a finger over where the cut was. The skin felt new, and was as pink as a newborn baby.

A sigh of relief shook her shoulders. She thought that she really upset the prince by using up all of his tears. It was good to know that somewhere in the palace there was likely the very being that produced the tears. A hand came up and she wiped the sweat from her brow. As her nervousness faded from her body, she flopped down on a beanbag chair.
"We were talking about your one girlfriend," she told him. "But I can tell its something painful for you to recall. If you want we can talk about something different... something that doesn't make you feel so terrible."

He stiffened a bit, and realized that it needed to be done. He needed to talk to someone about her. "Ah yes, Evelyn." He looked around frantically for a few seconds when he couldn't feel the photo in his pocket. He then remembered that he had dropped it, and let his eyes scan the floor. He swiftly picked it up and handed it over to her. "That's her." He said softly.
"This room just reminds me of her a lot. Of everyone really. Everyone that's left." He sighed and closed his eyes, leaned his head against the cold glass of the window.

Andromeda relaxed against the back of the beanbag chair. She had a feeling that this may be a long story. Small fingers gripped the photo around its edges. Although she had seen the girl in the memory projection, this photo of her was lovely. She looked familiar though but the serving girl couldn't place it.
"What exactly happened to her and all of the others?" she asked. "Its sad that so many people have left you. I know how it feels though; you can tell me anything and I'll understand."

He opened his eyes to watch her reason. He saw a flicker of recognition flashed across her eyes. Did she know her? She couldn't have, could she? He shook the idea out of his head. It couldn't be. He leaned back again and looked out the window at the garden. The garden they had walked through so many times. How did he not notice Andromeda in the garden for all these years?
"She committed suicide. The blonde boy in the memory, William, he died at war. And Clair .. the tomboy-ish girl. I really don't know what happened. We just .. kinda stopped talking. We see each other once in a while, but it's just not the same anymore." He looked down at her and hesitated. After a pause he asked, "By any chance, do you know Evelyn?"

"She looks a good deal like my mother," was all she replied with. "I suppose that would make her look a good deal like me? I wouldn't know. I've just seen the face before."
There were some differences between their faces but the two did look strikingly similar. Not to mention those eyes. Eyes like that were rare. They reminded her a little of Rena, actually. Though she did not comment any. Instead she winced.
"I am sorry things turned out that way. War is an ugly thing. At least your friend died defending our peoples. Also I am very sorry that Evelyn committed suicide."
How did someone respond to that? She understood the grief he was going through, yes, but suicide was always a touchy subject for them. A good handful of the servants that entered the castle committed suicide the first year of being their; the higher rates coming from those very select few that had been nobility of some sort before life turned a horrible corner for them. The idea frightened her and worried her.
"She must have had some powerful demons."
