Now... Now Jerry was starting to creep him out. Just a little.
"Ughh... Please... don't say any words that can be associated with food right now..." He held his arm against his stomach, hoping to keep anything that remained in it, down
:That humming is just a little...:
CREEPY--I know!
Hearing a wet snap and crunch, Ryan was torn between groaning and gagging as he attempted to move the 'other' half of the body. He stopped, however, when he felt something thick and rope like.
Really... Worst possible day...

Well he had her laughing, that was good. Even though this wasn't pleasant work, lightening the mood could always help. Plus he could keep his thoughts to something more happy than this. It was like being back in.... Puca started babbling again something about Halloween. " Once more... that'll do it I bet." He hoped she wouldn't quite rage. He waited for her to wrap her hands before lifting again.

"Thanks!" Sherry smiled at her partner as she welcomed her. She seemed friendly and Sherry was grateful for that. "Oh, I hope not," She agreed when Madison indicated the body bags. That would be a terrible first mission. Following the instructions that the Moon Hunter had just given them, Sherry put on her headset then her mask. She fell into step with Madison as when they were asked to move. The world had gone gray, but it was still rather interesting. Sherry remembered wanting to travel in her old life, and here she was, in the Sahara. Sure, she was here for work, but still. Even a black Sahara was worth a visit, and here she was, just walking across it. She stood a little dumbfounded when their guide went running off. Maybe something had come up? Oh, well. Sherry reached down to grab whatever it was they were sent after-- "Oh my god."Madison's gag came just as Sherry made contact with something. Something that seem familiar in a very odd and wrong way. "Oh, no. No." Sherry dropped it and swallowed the bile in her throat. Bodies. Sherry didn't like bodies. Armagnac sounded genuinely disappointed. Sherry ignored her. "Yes," she said to Madison, her voice a bit strained from the shock, "let's just get this over with." The sooner the better. Was this some kind of test of their resolve or something? She didn't mind her first mission being clean up, but she really didn't like bodies. "Here. This...one..." Sherry swallowed as she reached out to grab hold of one of the bodies littering the crater. The sooner they were finished, the better.

Cass nodded.
"Right. One more time. This isn't Jenga."
And you're not -
<> Cass huffed internally, her scarf fastened around her wrists (though now her shoulders were being buffetted by sand, goodie) before she grabbed and lifted...
and now all she had t her name was a disgusting scarf. Goodie.
"What is even the ********!!" she swore. THIS WAS JENGA. GOOD LORD.

Deryk felt like he was going to be sick. He was just trying really hard to not think about what he was doing. It seemed to work as he and Marcus managed to move a body out. But by god this was not nice work at all. This wasn't exactly his idea of fighting against the evils in the dark and whatnot.
He asked what those could be. Tooley didn't answer and just giggled into his mind.

Eva nodded weakly to show that she understood, taking his advice to heart and breathing through her mouth. She tried not to look down at the body as they made their way back up, her gaze focused ahead at the other trainees who had been successful...
...And the bodies that they were carrying. She swore that she felt bile rise in her throat, but she forced it down. Just a training dummy, She reminded herself, though she couldn't help but shudder, Just pretend it's a dummy...
Deep breaths. You'll be fine, Eva.
She smiled weakly at the encouragement. "This is...definitely not what I was expecting a first mission to be like," She tried to joke, but it was weak. Her voice had lost most of the cheer and friendliness that it usually held--in addition to being horrified and sick to her stomach, she had so many questions. Who were these people? How had they died? And there were so many of them, so many lives lost...
"If I pass out, please just grab one of my legs and drag me back through the portal, okay? I promise I'm l-light." Another weak attempt at a joke, and the stutter at the end had betrayed her attempt to appear brave. She was struggling to keep herself calm, her hands quivering as she kept her fingers wrapped beneath the corpse's arms.

Before the other could reply to him, they were being told to follow ... whoever this was, and Tedan kind of shrugged and moved to do so, swinging his head around and trying to figure out exactly how to tell where he was walking with everything suddenly all black and grey. "This mask is gonna make me fall on my face," he muttered. Then he looked up and saw the weird section of whatever-it-was up ahead. Frowning, he tried to pay attention to the instructions but the smell was kinda distracting. And WHAT exactly were they supposed to be grabbing here? Tedan was starting to get a really bad feeling about this .... Still, it was a mission, so he picked one of the grey shapes and moved toward it, reaching out to grab one end and looking up to see if Bix was coming to help him.

"Yeah, oodles," Harrison said.
As they waded through, he concentrated on not slipping. It was easier than concentrating on what they were wading through. Gag reflexes were weird things. Sometimes you could be dealing with smashed heads and blood everywhere (or the satisfying thunk of a sharp object hitting something important) but it took a plate of spaghetti to send you over the top. Right now they were dealing with piles of ambiguous grey.
Harrison felt around for something limb-like to haul up.
"They sure whatever did this isn't...y'know, still around?"

Davey agreed completely. He tried to keep the growl out of his voice as he said, "It's an unusual choice for a first mission. Even if there's no danger of being attacked here..." The first mission for Davey and the others had been learning to use their weapons. Their instructor... Aria... his arm tightened dangerously around the corpse. No, it was better not to think of that. "It'll get better," he told Evie. "This is the worst mission I've had so far. Give me a battle any day over this." Especially when the enemy's fallen bodies just dissipated into nothingness. No messy clean up needed. Davey wished he had a second hand so he could reach out and pat Evie on the shoulder. "Don't worry. 'No man left behind' and all that. I wouldn't leave my partner. But you won't pass out. You're tough - that's how you got here." A little positivity couldn't hurt. Some of the trainees might be the sort to pass out, there were different sorts of toughness, but it didn't hurt to boost the confidence of the people who had his back. This really was the worst possible introduction to being a Hunter, after all.

"Candy..?" Blinking at the name, she shook her head and continued to mess around with her mask and headset. "Don't have to worry about that. Sounds more like an affectionate name or something anyways."
Pushing her mask off of her face to eye the woman again, she was amazed to here of all the missions they had already been sent on. "Whaa--mini--Halloween--" Left perplexed, she focused on getting her gear together instead. That was something she would have to ask her more about later.
"A little. But, I think that's natural for anyone." Nodding, she smiled and continued. "I will."
Put on your headpiece first and then your masks--
"Oh good grief!"
:I think she's doing this on purpose..:
Whatever it was, it was a pain. Getting her gear together--the right way--Kat followed after the group, checking to see if Candace was following after. She would be sure to stick close to her partner--she could barely see with this damn mask.
A foul odder offended her senses as she approached the what appeared to be--well..she wasn't sure what the hell it was. "Gawd..that smell!" She loved this place--right up until this point. Whatever it was, it was almost putrid..and the fact that the moon huntress ran back gagging didn't exactly inspire any good feelings.
With every step, Kat cringed. Bending down to grab at whatever it was that showed in her vision, she nearly flung herself back when taking in the scent. "Ew..What is--" Moving to grab it a second time, she froze when feeling something that..just didn't seem right. "Is that--" Slipping off her mask to confirm; Kat merely stared before speaking. "Oh--yep. It is."
And on went the mask again.

This was the worse mission he had had? ...Well, she supposed that she could definitely see why. Fighting was one thing--while the idea of fighting creatures scared her a little, it also inspired to her train harder. But this...beyond the fact that this was sickening, it was also heart-wrenching to see so many bodies, even if she didn't know whose they were. Had these people been like them?
Even though he couldn't see it, Eva shot Davey an appreciative smile from behind her mask. "I...thank you." The encouragement helped, and she laughed softly at herself. "I'm sorry. I just...I wasn't expecting this. I promise that I won't pass out--aside from the fact it would be mortifying, I wouldn't want to ditch you at a time like this."
Some would argue that now wasn't the time for small talk--and maybe they would be right--but changing the subject would help her keep her mind off of things. Hoping that Davey wouldn't mind if she was a bit chatty--though he would probably realize the reason she was being so--she cleared her throat, careful to keep her eyes focused on him and away from the bodies. "In response to your questions earlier...I woke up with the most recent group, and I was from the island testing. An Epsilon." She paused, and then added, "...Were you in the same test, perhaps?" She wouldn't have been surprised if she hadn't run into him, though--it seemed as if there had be a lot of people she hadn't encountered during the test but were here now.

Candace's eyebrow twitched as the moon hunter changed the order again. What the hell. Make up your mind! "Considering we just had a big mission, and our wonderfully amazing leader," This was said with a bit of distaste, "is still not in top condition from the looks of it? I doubt this'll be too terrible." Candace gave Kat's shoulder a squeeze and smiled before adjusting her mask and following after the hunter. Damn, it was a good thing they had these earpieces. But where were they even going? Were there caves in the Sahara desert? She couldn't remember. Wasn't it just all sand..? It couldn't be a cave they were going into. ...What...was that. Candace hissed with disgust and tried to shift away from her leg hitting something repulsive, listening as even the moon hunter seemed to start losing it. What was wrong? All they had to do was collect whatever it was that was down here? Ugh. Okay. The smell hit her and she coughed, a hand flying to cover up her mouth and the gagging. Oh god. Oh god. It smelled awful. She had been happy to be wearing shorts before but now she was sorely regretting it. ********. Fuuuuuuuuck what was that smellll? She tried to hold back the coughing gag even as Kat checked to see what it was. "I don't--" She coughed. "I don't want to know. Ohgod."Candace cleared her throat. "Let's get this done quickly, yeah?" She then reached down to try and pick up the nearest...object. Unfortunately said object seemed to separate from the rest of the...thing...and that was when she felt it. That was very clearly a mouth. "I'm good! I'm ******** that is nasty."

They were moving and needed to get started on the mission! The Life Hunter trainee gave his partner a wide, encouraging smile. "J-just try to tell yourself this was nothing like that time." What exactly had he meant by that time? Let's just say masks were involved as well.
Donning the equipment, Before followed after the group. Grateful that the mask was hiding his expression. The smell, the feel of what they were stepping in... it was reminiscent of the Gym. He felt the contents of his stomach try to leave but he forced it down with great effort.
No matter what he did, it seemed Before would always be reminded of that incident. He ought to get over it, he really ought to but... he shuddered. Listening to the unnamed Moon Hunter's instruction, he turned to Tori or rather where he assumed she was. "L-let's go, Tori!"

Still slightly embarrassed, but got over it when she had heard that she had been partnered with Milton. Tori knew that she would have to try and not get on the bad side of Caelius and knew from Milton that shouting out loud was one thing no to do.
As Tori could swear that Aklin was lightly laughing at her. I don't think that now isn't a good time maybe later. Tori shot back as she wasn't going to make more of a bad inpression now. Tori has been a little glad that she had been paired with Milton as she learn more about the Life Hunters. She did sorta smiled when he introduced himself as she was still nervous as one of her hands went under her scarf to figgle with Aklin in his unsummoned form. "Ummm...It's nice to meet you Before. I'm Tori," she replied. "Well one never know, as I sure don't know," As there was a lot of things that she had to learn but she was sorta excited to be doing a little on hand learning what ever there mission was. "Also its good to meet another Lifer too," she replied in a quiet voice still unsure of what else to say as she followed Before as they followed to were Caelius was heading. Wide eyed when she had saw that door as it was very cool in her book and she had so wanted to get a better look at it, but knew now was not the best time to ask if she could and walk threw it. Bloody hell it was hot and didn't one bit like the set up as well as she spotted those bags and didn't want to contiune the thought to what they were. Like the others and Before, Tori took one of the headsets and masks.
Aklin snickered as he was finding all of this just so funny. Shut up, Aklin. That isn't something that I want to do. She replied with a little anger but he was kept on snickering at her as he also did a horsey snort too and Tori just sighed. "Ummm that is good to know, Also did you know that the Sahara has around 500 species of flora..." Oh god did she do what she thought she had just done. Being nervous she spouted a random fact to Before as she reddened a little over it and Aklin was now fully laughing at her as she didn't pay attention to him. "Sorry about that I do that when I get too nervous," Tori said sheepishly to Before and wondered if she was going to do it more and she hoped that she wouldn't. Seeing that the others were moving to get the mission started. "All I can do that," she replied to her partner. As she keep those thoughts from coming back. Quickly putting her braid into a bun to keep it out of the way before putting her own equipment on. So glad she truly couldn't fully smell or even see what they had walked in on as she might be curious to why all of this was here but kept that to herself. Having heard what the unnamed Moon Hunters' instructions and looked at Before. "Ok, Before," she replied clearly he could here that she was still nervous over all of this and especially over interacting with her Life partner as she didn't know what to say besides spout random fact and information.
