(I have a theory, but it's just a theory. remember those two who come up to Jiraiya ans ask his to be a hokage? wel one looks awefully like Sarutobi, so he just might be.. but it's just a theory...)

Asuma's last name is Sarutobi. Orochimaru calls the Third Sarutobi sensei, so...
This theory ruins my Asuma X Kurenai pairing. crying

Spoilers follow: Wikipedia There is a possiblity he is romantically involved with Yūhi Kurenai, at one point Kakashi mentions this, and Asuma makes to change the subject. ("Why are you at the dumplings shop? I thought you didn't like sweets.") Based on the name, many assume that Asuma might be related to the Sandaime Hokage, but 'Sarutobi,' the name he shares with the Sandaime, is definitely his family name, while it is most likely the given name of the Third Hokage. (This may have no bearing on their family connection at all, however, given that many shinobi from Sandaime's early years - including Orochimaru, Jiraiya, Tsunade, Tsunade's little brother Nawaki, and Tsunade's deceased lover Dan - have not been given more than one name. It is also worth noting that in Japanese culture, figures of respect or authority are often referred to by their family names). O.o;; Orochimaru! The-- Well you know...
