Raphael's background is long and complex, but in this brief description, I will get to the point. When Sutami fell from the sky, Raphael fled from those lands with all of his courage. He hoped to find a new life, but instead, he was indoctrinated. He no longer held control of his own body, and eventually, it was almost as if he had simply become a summon. Hatred and rage molded his body, and this finally exploded when the man cut off his wings to prevent any further attempt at escape. He became a "Nightmare" -- slicing off the head of his controller and destroying all other controlled specimens within his disposal. At this rate, hateful of the world around him, he spent weeks upon months into finding a method of escape.
And he found it. Rykros. Though finding a way here was simply winning the game, to him, rather than winning hope.

Well, in Axiom Expert if four ranks up, in here four ranks up is Journeyman.

From his home of Indelca, Kuroi grew up in a family of Reapers. Who knew why they were born that way, but they just were. But he was born with a particular skill that none of his family had. Most of them either had amazing strength or amazing reflexes, lacking the other. However, he had been born with both. This made him an exception to his family's genetic rules. So he was trained by his entire family to become an amazing Reaper and bring life back to a world that would soon become torn by war, one day. And at the age of 12, he was thrown into the world to become the best possible and his family went into hiding, hoping one day they would get word of an amazing Reaper who brought the world back to how it once was. He traveled to many places, examining the life in every one of them. This made him extremely interested in his duty in the world.
