I don't care what the village wants. All I want is not to die without leaving a trace.

When a projectile was not immediately returned to him, his thoughts turned suspicious. However, he was curious by nature, and irregardless of the suspicious thought or his judgement telling him what would be better to do, he slowly peeked out form behind the driftwood. He instantly regretted it, because that was when his eyes met an unexpected sight, and he covered them in horror when the idiot girl gave no concern to her half-exposed chest. What the hell was she doing! Oh, Leviathan, he did not need to see that! Didn't she have any decency?! Or was that too much to ask from kunoichis! Not to mention, she didn't even have much to show anyways!

While his mind wailed with such thoughts, karmic justice got the better of him, and a shell met his head, before cracking in two. It had a little more force than expected, and soundlessly the pieces dropped to the ground.

Oh, ow ow. Fine, he probably shouldn't have thought that. Grumbling to himself, he picked up the nearest shell next to his foot, and flung it at her just as she was getting down to cover again.

Shell Ball!
It was his fault, she would come to say. He did totally start it. That was all he'll admit.

She didn't make it in time. As she dove, it was almost in slow motion... the ducking behind the log, the arm and hip digging into the rough sand, the spray of the sand against her cheek and belly, the wince. She didn't make it in time... the return fire grazed her shoulder and then disappeared. In that state of warped perception, to her it seemed as if she'd lazily picked up a shell of her own, and as she rolled onto her back, it, too, was flung in his general direction.

Time returned to the state it should have stayed from the start, and there she was, covered in sand... and laying out on the beach. It was almost peaceful, the sound of the waves, the smell of the wind... until there was more "feel" of the stupid evil shells!

I... will have... my revenge... I... swear it...

Shell Ball!

He saw the shell coming at him, and from his position, all he needed to do was a slight u-turned shift in order to narrowly avoid the projectile. It was an almost graceful avoidance, impressive, considering he was crouching.

Heh, grinned Inori. This was easy. As long as she remained angry, there was no way he was going to let her hit him again. This little event was even growing to be somewhat fun! At first, the argument drove him on, but as time went on, he found that he enjoyed this little brawl just for the excitement it brought. He couldn't quite describe it, but it was as if every blood vessel in his body was pumping blood faster. The exhilaration, the adrenaline that rushed through his body left him with a new kind of high: if only the Academy could be something like this, challenging, he didn't think he would mind it much at all.

A bark-like laughter escaped his lips, and as he picked up the shell she tossed at him from the ground and threw it back at her, this became a source of amusement for him: try again, he silently urged. Avoid it. He wanted to see this little game of theirs remain interesting.

Shell Ball!
It was his fault, she would come to say. He did totally start it. That was all he'll admit.

She was biting her lip, just minding her own business... laying there in the sadn and all. Well, not minding her business, but she was just laying there... behind a log, where no one could see that was all she was doing. And just like she predicted, not that it was hard... in fact it was obvious, a shell archedc leanly through the air and plopped right onto her belly. For a moment she just laid there... then an eybrow twitched.

That was followed by a bark of laughter.

So, this was funny now, huh? The mood was supposed to be angry. Angry and heated and... other creative words for mad. But now he was laughing. Was it at her? Was he laughing because she totally sucked at throwing stuff at people? Was he alughing because he thought picking a fight with her was now stupid? Uuuuugh, she could almost feel him taunting her.

Scooping up the shell that had made it';s bed by her naval, which she didn't realize was her previously thrown weapons, she slowly got into a crouch and then chucked it right back at him. I hope it gets you in the groin... No, that's too mean, I guess.... right above the groin then... warning shot. If only she could actually hit the target she meant for. For all she knew, she'd only been getting him in harmless places like the shoulder or sides...

Shell Ball!
It's all his fault, he totally started it! What had she done? He couldn't even admit he was over-reacting.

Inori watched as a shell soared out from behind the log, twisted high into a parabolic arch, and plummeted, striking him on the shin. It didn't hurt for him to take too critical notice: after all, the shin bone was quite hard, and these shells weren't hard enough to hurt. But he raised a brow, wondering why she aimed that low this time: up until now hadn't she been trying to get revenge with face-smacks? A moment passed, and Inori shrugged. Whatever, she was a weird girl. He figured he didn't really care as to find out what was her reason.

He tossed a shell at where he had last thrown: he figured judging from the returning throw, he did hit her last time. It couldn't hurt to try again, and if he was lucky, she wouldn't have moved just yet.

The fact that she was crouched, instead of laying out flat, definately helped her situation... in fact... the shell she heard land was a little past where her feet would have been if she was still soaking in the sun. Plotting her next move wans't too hard. The general plan was always "chuck stuff and don't get hit." She was poor at both, but making progress... she had to make things more interesting, though...

One by one, she picked up pieces of shell that were around her feet, then more that were along the drift wood. She had a good armful now, hoping she could use all of them, but also hoping she didn't need to. She wanted him to give up... She crept around the edge, and when she "turned the corner" so to speak, she flung one of her collection at the boy still standing in the middle of the beach. Cocky b*****d...

But now she was out in the open. But that was how she planned it. No more hiding. Instead... they would be just moving from one place to another, or at least she would. Now it was time to start moving, she she rifled around to get another good piece.

Still, unknowingly, she shirt was still ridden up her body, luckily it wasn't as far up as it had been, what with her crawling all over the place. She was not going to be happy getting sand out of those places, either...

Even before he saw her coming, he heard her approaching thanks to the crunchy sound of shell against sand. There were scattered bits of shells all over the beach, so it was unavoidable that she stepped on something that betrayed her position... Not to mention all the driftwood scattered around. The sound told him a number of things: first of all, she was no longer hiding behind her temporary shelter. Now, which direction would she be coming from, that was the question... His eyes darted left and right, and when he saw her creep out from behind another large piece of driftwood, he raised an eyebrow at what was in her arms. He thought she would throw her whole collection, but instead, she stopped and chose a singular piece.

The moment it took to process the thought would cost him, as he was unable to dodge the shell this time narrowly. Instead, it grazed his arm, not hurting him, but the burn from the friction made his skin there feel uncomfortably hot.

So she wanted to play difficult, huh?

Impassively, he picked up one of the largest shells lying near his feet, and then, a evil grin curved his face.

He would aim the shell right for her mouth.

Shell Ball!
It was his fault, she would come to say. He did totally start it. That was all he'll admit.

"Ha! Take tha- ahhh, putuh..." The moment she opened her mouth in victory was the moment she ate shell... and spat it back out. "Ew, that was sick!" She almost reached to her mouth with her free hand before remembering that it, too was covered in sand... so she had to resort to just keep spitting whatever grains she found in her mouth... which meant she had to taste every single one of them. "Bleck" This... this was just great... He... is an evil mastermind, sent to this village just to mess with me. That's it, isn't it? At least it wasn't in her eyes this time. As terrible as sand tasted, that was a lot better than getting it by such a sensitive organ, one that was already poorly developed as it was... and that poor development didn't make it hut any less.

So, now she was just staggering around, spitting as she went, and tried to keep a hold of her valuable collection. At least she could still bounce about... try to keep moving, though her movents now seemed staggared and disoriented. At least they weren't predictable.

He vaguely wondered if he should feel sorry for her as the shell met its target. But seriously! It was her own fault, she shouldn't have opened her mouth... He watched as she hopped about, spitting shiny pieces of sand, and his golden brows disappeared even further into his bangs when it became quite obvious she was serious about not letting go of her collection. He thought to himself carefully: now, what part of her to target to get her to let go? She would be on guard with not so carelessly opening her mouth now - that had been quite an easy, obvious target - that was, when his eyes caught a flash of white.

Huh? A flash of white?

With horror, he realized what had happened: she had never remembered to roll down her shirt! The idiot forgot! Thankfully, what he saw wasn't part of her breast, but it was damned close enough. His eyebrow twitched, feeling irritation building: he wasn't going to just correct her openly, however, his next target can make a statement. And so, he aimed for the nook right below the bosom, right below where her arms that was currently cradling an arsenal of shells were.

Shell Ball!
It was his fault, she would come to say. He did totally start it. That was all he'll admit.

As she wobbled about, she was struck again, pushing her slightly off balance, as she staggared backwards a bit. "Ow, hey!" That spot under her arm, made her jerk forward, shells slipping from her grasp. Using her other hand, she managed to rescue most of her load and rebalance herself... then she gave herself a second to rub the sore spot of her flesh right below her... wait... flesh? Her hand stopped, and she looked down. My... belly's exposed... Looking up at him, he;s be able to see that her face had drained all color, and slowly, awkwardly, with one hand, she pulled the shirt down to cover herself properly.

He struck my bare skin... yeah he did that to my head and all, but this was... was... How long have I been like this? And then her face went pink. How long has he noticed me like this... and never said anything. Pinker. He never said anything and he let me go around like this? Red. Tebiki bit down on her quivering lip, her body started shaking as her face grew redder, if that was even possible. "You... you... YOU PERVERT!"

Grabbing the biggest shell she could get from her small pile, she practically ran at him before throwing the object with as much force as he deserved. He was looking at her!?! Looking! How how.... that was just wrong! And what if her shirt had been up higher than it was? Then what? What if it actually was...? This only drove her further... if that wa sthe case, and he'd... he'd seen her... well it wans't like there wa smuch ther,e but still! It was so improper!

She was going to kill him.....

He partially succeeded in his intentions, he noticed, as she dropped some of her arsenal.

So she really didn't notice... He thought, unamused, as her face turned whiter than a sheet of paper. Of course, the color drain was followed by a color flush...and her face grew darker in color... Now, what did his old books use to say about that...? Right, embarrassment. So she was capable of embarrassment after all? Well, that was new. Considering she hadn't remembered something so obviously important. He rolled his eyes. Yes, he was right, this girl definitely was weird in the head.

And then, the inevitable accusations came.

He drawled out his reply: "I was merely pointing out something important you apparently forgot."

As they had both learned through this little brawl, the time taken to say something was dangerous. He could've sworn she went to tearful, enraged mode when she grabbed one of the shells in her arm, and tossed it with all the force that she could obviously muster. It struck him right on the head, before bouncing off, and with a hiss of pain, Inori rubbed the sore spot.

OK. That does it. No more mister nice guy.

He grabbed the shell where it had fallen, and returned the fire to her, with all the muscle of his arm for her head.

Just pointing something out? JUST POINTING SOMETHING OUT?! "You could have jus- oh, nevermin-" Crack. That one jerked her backwards. The ultimate result was her on her rump in the sand with her arsenal scattered all around her. She sat there, just... stunned. Didn;t even think to throw another after that attack. That... that hit hard...! While her cheeks returned to their normal shade of peach, the red mark right under her eye still remained. It practically glowed red. She knew if pain had a color it would definately be red. A hot burning red.

She thought before that he was "showing no mercy" as she was from the start. No... he was taking it easy on her. He started the whole fight with his misconceptions... and then he went on to go easy on her...

That had to be one of the most disrespectful things that could have even been done to her.

Knowing that hurt worse than the soon-to-be bruise on her face.

Slowly, she got back up to her feet. She got to her feet and straightened her back. "It's about time you started being serious..."

Shell Ball!
It's all his fault, he totally started it! What had she done? He couldn't even admit he was over-reacting.

This time, he did not feel sorry at all for leaving a girl sitting on her rump on the beach. Even if he had caught her partly by surprise with that last attack when she decided to talk -- but that was her own problem wasn't it? This girl didn't known when to shut her mouth and speaking of known when to not talk, she shouldn't have assumed what she did anyways!

Without giving a second thought, he charged viciously, breaking the maintained distance that had developed between them in a few mere moments. Remembering what few lessons he had when he was small about self-defense, he dropped low to the sand as he came from behind her and swung his foot at her legs, intending to knock her off her feet again while his right hand came to balance on the ground with the manuever. It was a basic, though effective self-defense maneuver: to knock down the opponent as an opening before following up with further attacks. But it was more than just that. He may have begun with the shell ball match almost jokingly, but now...? As she did succeed in really angering him this time, he honestly, earnestly, did hope he could make her kiss the ground once more.

Shell Ball!

He charged.

Finally... something I'm better at...

To hell with all of the shell throwing, they were going to throw fists now, and she liked it that way. Hell, even if she didn't win, at leats she'd fare better... and if he beat her, well, she wasn't going to say she wouldn't be sore about it, but that would sure give her one hell of a motivational memory to keep her training.

She twisted her body as he turned around her, wanting to catch her from behind. You shouldn't charge right at someone if you want to catch them there. She kept her mouth shut, though. When in a hand to hand fight, just in case someone tried to punch you in the jaw, you always clenched your mouth shut... otherwise, your jaw had the potential of going one direction and the rest of your head would go in the other, causing a disgusting crack and lots of broken-ness. She saw it happen once. Thank goodness for shinobi healers, otherwise her uncle wouldn't be able to speak much anymore...

Still, despite trying to move to meet him, she still felt his leg sweep under hers, however, he probably didn't expect her to grab him by the ankle to pull herself back up and then proceed to slam her own foot into his gut.
